Roach, rudd, ram, which are excellently caught at any time of the year. Also bream with small fish, bream. White bream, fisherman - not very common, but not too rare either. There are a lot of small fish in the pond. It helps increase the population of large predatory species: catfish, pike perch, and perch.

In recent years there have been changes in the pike population. It has decreased significantly. This is all due to the herds of silver carp and grass carp that eat up the vegetation, at the same time devastating the pike spawning grounds. Fans of lure fishing also contributed to this. Schools of other fish eat the laid pike eggs, and fishermen catch them, so it is not surprising that there are so few pike in the Veselovsky Reservoir.

Well, everything else is the same as everywhere else. Fishing catches, industrial trawl catches, and systematic fishing using kilometer-long nets, regardless of seasonal restrictions - all this affects the total number of fish in the reservoir.

Recreation centers

There are many comfortable recreation centers on the Veselovsky Reservoir. For example - Cool place, located three kilometers from the reservoir on the Western Manych River. Choosing a fishing spot

The best places to fish are in channels, creeks, creeks and reeds. You can fish on the shore or on a boat; there are no restrictions at any time. Many fish in the shallows only with a different bait. They are caught with poppers, wobblers, and silicone fish with a double hook. If you decide to go out on a boat, then a motor boat will not be suitable, because algae will often get wrapped around the propeller. The best option would be a rowing boat.

The deepest places with the most fish are located in the area of ​​the dam, but fishing near it is prohibited. In the northern part of the coast there are many depth differences, where predatory pike perch and schools of white fish are found. To detect such depressions, you can use an echo sounder. Pike perch is caught with a jig using weights up to 16g. For a medium-sized predator, non-clinging offset hooks No. 4 are used. The baits for these hooks are three-inch silicone ribbed baits from the manufacturers YUM and RELAX. For catching big fish with a jig, a tackle with a multiplier reel is best suited. It will be easier for her to play with the bait and it will be possible to install a thicker fishing line. To fish from a boat, you need a rod at least 2 meters long. The pike perch actively responds to fast retrieval during a double toss of the rod from the bottom of the sinker with a nozzle. The weight of an average pike perch in a catch is 1 kg.

Fishing on the Veselovsky Reservoir

There is a good road leading to the reservoir. Due to its convenient location, the reservoir has become a favorite place for fishermen and hunters. There are about 30 different species of fish here. Including rare protected specimens. Such as Koktebel katran, salvinia and vallisneria. More common species include catfish, pike, sterlet and silver carp.

The area near the dam is considered the most fishy place. However, fishing is prohibited here, although some violate this instruction. But still, law-abiding fishermen do not despair and find a place for themselves on the northern shore of the reservoir. It is good because there are differences in depth, which almost one hundred percent guarantee a good catch. Large predators, such as pike perch, are found in such small pools.

Various creeks, small creeks and channels, and reed thickets are also considered fishing spots. It is best to fish from the shore with a long spinning rod or from a boat. Moreover, it is better to use water transport without a motor, since it will constantly get filled with algae and grass.

Catching white fish

In addition to jigging, the following lead to a good catch: spinning rods, fishing rods with floats, feeders, pickers and donks with baited worms, dough, corn and pearl barley. These tackles are very effective at luring: crucian carp (no more than 1 kg), perch, silver bream, rudd, bream and roach. You can feed: corn cake, eggs, breadcrumbs, peas, vegetable oil. You can even have bread and jam. You should not expect an immediate bite after feeding; it will begin only after an hour. Wobblers and spinners have a good reputation. At night, they lure catfish with a white earthworm. Ram is caught with maggots and bloodworms. About the villages: Vesyoly and Stepnoy Kurgan are described by fishermen as the most catchy ones. There are a lot of ticks in the vicinity of the reservoir and therefore everyone: both fishermen and tourists should protect themselves with sprays and creams to repel ticks.

Winter fishing

In winter, fishing on the Veselovsky Reservoir is still tempting. At this time of year, the main catch of fishermen is ram and perch. It is also not uncommon to catch bream and crucian carp. The latter most often swims in places where the water is warmer. Such places can be found in areas where streams flow into a body of water. In the first days after ice formation, you can catch silver bream with a regular float rod. It is important not to forget that in winter the weather at the Veselovsky Reservoir is not the most pleasant. Strong cold winds often blow. So it’s better to fish at this time from special tents.

I knew that trophy-sized pike perch and perch were caught on the Veselovsky Reservoir and, moreover, I caught it myself.

My first acquaintance with this reservoir took place in 2010. Then the Russian Boat Fishing Championship was held there. During the preliminary training, we caught very large perch very well, and occasionally we caught a decent pike perch. I liked the reservoir, but I never caught a lizard here in the fall.

The initiator of this trip was Sergei Tishenin, who took on the duties of the main carrier. Since the journey is not long, we decided to go for two days. The composition is as follows: Sergei Tishenin, Victor Miroshnik and me. Knowing the wild nature of the reservoir firsthand, the first thing when planning a trip is to look at the weather forecast, and most importantly, look at the strength and direction of the wind. A small wind - about 6 m/s - can disperse a large wave, which will create a lot of inconvenience when fishing.

As a result, we decide to go to the Novoselovka area. We leave on November 7th early in the morning. The journey ended up taking three hours longer than we had planned. Plus there were difficulties with accommodation: there were no reserved rooms at the hotel. All this took up half of the daylight hours. It’s a shame, because in the fall the days are very short, and we still have to assemble the boats, plus we don’t know the exact locations of the pike perch.

As a result, at 14:00 we go out on the water. To speed up the search for fish, we decide to explore an area where a decent number of boats have accumulated. We noticed them before we arrived.

Turn on the echo sounder. We begin to tack to identify a promising area. But the echo sounder depicts a flat bottom with rare “clouds” of small fish in the horizon, and below them there is clearly something small, but very similar to a pike perch standing under the “cloud”. The total depth is about seven meters, there is no current. I decide to put a 16 g weight with the proven Awaruna bait size 3.5” in color #201, under a natural fish. This bait has always helped me out. The first cast brought me a clear bite. But the end result is a bitten off tail of the bait. This is what small pike perch like to do. I repeat the cast. When the bait falls into the water, it seems to fall into the “jelly”. I immediately realized that I had landed on the same “cloud” that the echo sounder was drawing. As soon as the bait touches the bottom, I make a small toss of the bait and feel a clear blow on it. Lightning-fast hooking, and the spinning rod bends under the weight of the fish.

The pike perch is clearly of a reasonable size. Looking ahead, I will say that there was only one “test” that day. Victor also doesn’t lag behind, catching a small zander.

Then there is silence. We lift the anchor, turn on the echo sounder and look for the next accumulation (“cloud”) of fry. We find it, position the boat higher upwind for more comfortable fishing, and start fishing. The first few casts bring us several small pike perch. And, as a result, several bitten off tails.

The point where we were fishing goes silent. Working across the area in the hope of finding the next “cloud” does not bring results. Waste of time. We set off again in search of another cluster of fry. Having found the next “cloud”, we begin fishing. But there is no result. Although I understand that there are fish below us. Awaruna, which produced results, was successfully eaten by small walleyes. I decide to put the Ratta in size 3.75 in a similar color. The result was not long in coming. On the first cast I catch one, then the second.

Sergei is fishing next to us. Things are going well for him too.

The fishing is quite brisk. But its size is not very large. It starts to get dark and we decide to return to base. We took a couple of zanders with us from the water. Victor promised to prepare his signature dish in the evening - “Kuban-style pike perch, fried breaded in butter with garlic.”

The next morning the weather worsened. A stronger wind began to blow, and fishing became uncomfortable. We decide to devote today to searching for large pike perch. A long search yielded nothing. But information has appeared that pike perch is caught well in the area of ​​​​the settlement of Stepnoy Kurgan, which is several tens of kilometers away. Going there by boat is unrealistic. There is only one way out - collect the boats, load everything and move. This will obviously take more than an hour. But... risk is a noble cause.

It took us about two hours to move and pack. Therefore, the time for fishing is about three hours.

We go out onto the water. We find a cluster of boats and rush towards them at full throttle in the hope of catching the coveted “fangfish”. Judging by the fact that all the boats are standing in a circle, it becomes clear that there is clearly a school of fish there. It’s impossible to display the boat well. The reason for this is a strong gusty wind. As a result, we stand on the leeward side and try to catch, throwing against the wind. But the bait clearly doesn’t reach. The wind is too strong.

After suffering like this for about half an hour, we notice how one of the boats, which was in a very convenient position, leaves the fishing spot. Victor seemed to read my thoughts and quickly began to pull out the anchor. I start the engine and quickly take the vacant seat. Let's anchor. Now it will definitely be possible to add it. The first test cast of the bait brings scales on the hooks...

It is very similar to the scales of silver bream or bream. Victor, fishing next to me, puts a 3.5” Awaruna, casts it to the place where I got the scales from, and literally on the second step he gets a bite. The spinning rod bends into an arc. The fish is clearly very large, and behaves quite smoothly, making a smooth acceleration, reeling several meters from the clutch. I even decided that it was a catfish. I help Victor by loosening the clutch on his rod. After some time, he brought the fish to the surface. Imagine my surprise when I saw this “fanged” handsome man.

While Victor was trying to revive the pike perch a little, I got a bite. I hook in the hope of a similar trophy, but in vain. Meanwhile, Victor repeats the cast and shouts: “Yes!” arches his back. Spinning in an arc, and again his clutch began to sing. The next trophy did not want to give up quickly. A few minutes later another handsome man appears on the surface.

We take a photo of him in a hurry. It's starting to get dark. There is very little time to fish. We mark for ourselves the landmarks from where both handsome men were caught. I'm just placing the bait. I start the retrieve with small tosses, during which the Ratta makes very seductive pirouettes. On the next throw, the bait seems to hit the wall. Hook, and now the clutch on my rod began to sing. The fish didn't want to give up either. But it soon appeared on the surface.

Sergei is fishing next to us, but his catch is a little more modest. Victor catches him next. This time the size of the fish he caught is much smaller.

But I don’t lag behind him either.

At this point we decide to finish fishing. We could not calm down for a long time from the charge of positive emotions we received. All the way we heatedly discussed the past day, which will remain in our memory for a long time.

It was Sunday, the area was hillocks, we were fishing on the right side of the main mass. They fed them with millet and top grain. I was biting at the fish all day, but really, very lazily. We caught about 20 tails. We were pleased with the fishing.

Fished today in Vesele. It only bitten in the morning for one hour on one unfortunate hole. Afterwards the fish seemed to evaporate. The holes, baited in compliance with all fishing rules, also failed. I tried to find fish all day and the result was zero. Well, at least I got some fresh air.

We went to Sadkovka on Saturday, set up fishing rods and caught rams. Nothing came across the girders. What about ramming, it was caught well, but very small in size.

Recently my father and I visited Vesely. Before the start of fishing, we drilled, fed and then began to make the first casts. Success on the first try, I got a hybrid. We continued fishing. And again the catch, again and again. There was no shortage of fish; this was the first time I’ve seen something bite like that in winter. When we caught a whole bag, we decided to call it a day. In general, our catch was as follows: 73 hybrids, 12 underbreams and 5 rams.
