“Crucian carp and perch” - this is how you can describe the overwhelming ichthyofauna of Lake Myrkai in three words.

Crucian carp (both types - gold and silver) are the most numerous, therefore they form the basis of fishermen's catches. You come across a variety of sizes - from “snouts” that fit in the palm of your hand to plump specimens whose weight approaches two kilos. At the same time, the fish, although they bite quite actively, are somewhat picky in terms of their preferred bait: sometimes they are caught on bread, sometimes on a sandwich of bloodworms and maggots, and sometimes on a dung worm.

In addition to crucian carp, perch is also caught on the lake - it is also quite numerous here, although it is noticeably inferior to the first one in terms of mass. Perch is periodically included in the by-catch when fishing for crucian carp using animal baits; it can also be caught specially - on a spinning rod - using jig baits. The average perch caught on Myrkai is usually about “quarter size”; larger specimens are rare.

Features of Lake Myrkai

On the shore of the picturesque Lake Myrkai, right next to the P-330 highway, are the villages of Shumovo and Shibanovo. Not far from Myrkaya there are lakes Sugoyak and Tishki.

The shores of the lake are incredibly beautiful - birch trees and bird cherry trees grow (especially wonderful when they bloom in May - June), along the entire shore there are fragrant herbs and flowers.

Wild ducks, cranes, gulls, bitterns, waders live here, and sometimes you can see a swan on the surface of the lake.

By the way, on the northern shore of the reservoir there is a huntsman’s house - he keeps order in the surrounding area.

How to get there (get there)

Eastern Bank (from Yekaterinburg)

• Coordinates: 55°24′13″ N. latitude, 61°55′22″ e. d.
• Distance from Yekaterinburg: 221 km.

• How to get there: from Yekaterinburg you need to go in the direction of Chelyabinsk. After the village of Maly Kuyash, after a few kilometers there will be an interchange with an exit to Kunashak - you need to turn there. You should drive through this settlement - either along the bypass or directly, then move to Muslyumovo, before which you need to turn left - to Brodokalmak (there will be a corresponding sign after the bridge over the Techa River), then drive in the direction of this settlement. At a fork a few kilometers after Muslyumovo, you need to turn towards Miasskoe (there will also be a corresponding sign). After some time, Shibanovo will appear to the right of the road. There are a couple of entrances to the shore of the lake in this village, you can also drive to its northern or southern outskirts - there you can also drive to the shore.

Eastern Shore (from Chelyabinsk)

• Coordinates: 55°24′13″ N. latitude, 61°55′22″ e. d.
• Distance from Chelyabinsk: 50 km.
• Delivery option: any car.
• How to get there: from Chelyabinsk you should move in the direction of Kurgan. Near Miasskoye, turn to this village, then turn onto the bypass - to Brodokalmak (there will be a corresponding sign) and go to Shibanovo, then - as in the previous option.

Perch is the most desired specimen of every fisherman who comes to Myrkai. But at the same time, this fish is the most capricious. Before catching even one representative of the breed, you will have to pull out a lot of different little things.

Perch was not always found in Lake Myrkai; here it is a migrant who arrived from neighboring Sugoyak. In the seventies of the last century, artificial stocking of perch was carried out here.

Experienced fishermen say that to catch a perch you need to be patient, and this patience can pay off with interest, because in these waters there are specimens weighing up to one kilogram.

Rotan is found here quite rarely, and pulling it out is a great success. But the greatest joy for fishermen is catching carp - this is the greatest rarity in the reservoir. The luckiest fishermen caught specimens weighing up to fifteen kilograms!

How to get there?

Lake Myrkai is far from a poor body of water, although it takes a lot of effort, but dozens of fishermen attack the shores and surface every day in any season. If you are interested in local fishing or hunting, you can get here in the following way:

• The reservoir is located in the Krasnoarmeysky district. The distance to it from Chelyabinsk is 45 kilometers. You need to drive from the center of the region like this: from the Kurgan highway turn onto Miasskoye, towards Brodokalmak, then there will be a turn off to Shadrinsk, from which it will be about ten kilometers to the goal. The lake will be located on the right.
• If you leave Yekaterinburg, then the path will be as follows: along the Ekb-Chelyabinsk highway you need to go to Kunashak-Muslomovo, here there will be the Techa River, along which you need to drive about 20 kilometers. After this, the Miasskoe-Brodokalmak highway will begin, you need to turn right and drive about another 15 kilometers. As in the previous case, you need to look for Lake Myrkai on the right.
