The most popular activity on Lake Karpovskoe for several years has been fishing. Many residents of Kaliningrad purposefully come to the village of Pregolsky to relax and devote time to their favorite hobby. It is also worth noting that the popularity of this particular lake among fishermen is due to a number of reasons.

Firstly, there is a wide variety of fish for fishing: carp, pike, sturgeon, bream, roach, tench, pike perch, catfish, perch and silver bream. It is noteworthy that 20 years ago the administration of the cultural and fishery industry released 12,000 carp fry into the water, some of which have now grown to ten kilogram sizes and have become so-called trophy specimens. In addition to the above-mentioned fish species, the lake is also home to rare ornamental species. For example, Japanese Koi carp (or otherwise colored carp) and Chinese Comet crucian carp (goldfish).

Secondly, reasonable prices for fishing - 250 rubles per person for 6 hours of fishing. If you have children under 12 years old with you, they receive a permit for free. For all lovers of night fishing, it will be a pleasant bonus that you can stay overnight on the shores of Karpovskoye Lake. There are special places for pitching tents and making a fire, as well as a cafe where you can relax and have a snack. Several goats live on the farm's territory, and you can ride horses.

Separately, it is worth highlighting the basic rules of cultural fisheries, which every guest who comes to fish must follow. Fishing without a cage is strictly prohibited, since at the end of fishing you must provide the administration with your catch for weighing (there is a limit of 5 kg of fish per person, more weight will have to be paid additionally). It is also prohibited to make noise, play loud music, bring weapons of any kind into the lake, and use personal watercraft. Fishing for Perch on the Karpov Reservoir | Fishing report

Greetings anglers. Search for Perch on the Karpovsky Reservoir, as always, with the same team: Nikolai Polukhin, Borisych and Me. As usual, before fishing, I sat for a while and thought, where to go? Where to look for fish this time?

Of course, we are very familiar with the Karpovskoye Reservoir, and the points on the map are included in the navigator. But this does not in any way guarantee that the fish will be successfully caught with what we offer it.

There are many different ways to find fish on the river. I searched the Internet for upcoming reports from the reservoir, looked at the weather forecast, atmospheric pressure, moon position, and so on. Based on this, I chose for myself where I would go and in what horizons I would fish.

As an experiment, I decided to separate from my comrades and fish alone. For fishing, I decided to choose a place so that with minimal movement, it would be possible to fish at different horizons. Regardless of whether fishermen are sitting in this place or not.

We stepped onto the ice in the dark, my comrades went in one direction, I went in the other. There is very little snow on the ice, so walking is easy.

I arrived at the place of the intended fishing, not a soul, none of the fishermen were there. I immediately drilled 3 holes and ended up in a dump from 2 to 5 meters. I took the golden mean and sat on the hole at 3.7 meters. I lower the echo sounder into the hole, and this is what it shows me. As you know, the echo sounder beam spreads in a cone, thereby capturing a section of the bottom with greater or lesser depth.

The boundary of the depth difference is reflected by a black stripe on the echo sounder. An echo sounder is of course an excellent thing and useful for a fisherman. But do not forget that this is just a device to help the fisherman, and does not mean that the fisherman does not need to think about where and how to fish.

I start by knocking on the bottom, attracting perch to the fishing spot, then sharply raise it to the black stripe (1 meter higher from the bottom). The echo sounder shows that some of the perches rush after the bait, while others remain drifting on the bottom.

He waved with sharp strokes with pauses, at a depth of 1 meter from the bottom, collected all the active fish near the bait, and began to catch them. Thus, in a short time, I managed to pull out 18 excellent perches from one hole. Ask: How did I do this?

Successful Search for Perch on the Karpov Reservoir, in My Opinion, depends on 3 Reasons:

1. Simple luck. Perhaps I was just lucky;
2. Silence. There was not a single fisherman nearby, thus no one interfered;
3. Correctly chosen search tactics and fishing strategy.

I would like to dwell on the latter in more detail. We know that the Karpov Reservoir is rich in fish. It is also known that recently, she began to take very poorly. Most of the fish are now caught using bloodworms, even Stepanych’s Voucher does not save.

What I Did:

1. Tapping on the bottom, and with sharp, wide strokes, I collected all the fish under the hole;
2. Next, playing with the bait, I raised it above the bottom by about 1 meter. Thus I separated the fish. A more active perch, ready to bite, followed the bait. All passive fish remained at the bottom;
3. I'm starting to fish. By alternating throws, pauses and light dribbling, I provoke the perch to attack;
4. After catching 2-3 perches, I return the bait to the bottom and repeat everything again, thereby lifting several more perches from the bottom. In other words, it's like I'm constantly mixing horizons with fish. After all, if you don’t do this and catch all the fish from one horizon, then the bite may stop altogether.

You can see the result of this tactic for yourself. During such a short fishing trip, I catch from 5 to 10 kg of perch. The tactic works! I hope you are not bored with me. Of course, reading a report is not as fun as being fishing and experiencing it yourself.

And then the sun begins to rise, the beauty is indescribable. And I sit, in the same rhythm: lower the bait - play with the bait - bite - hook - fish on the ice. And then at the same pace. I decide to alternate holes so as not to exhaust the resource of one. I moved away one and a half meters, caught 3-4 perch, and came back.

In my opinion, this is correct, and this way I work the holes much longer. At the time when I decided to alternate holes, I decided to change the bait. They sent me from St. Petersburg a rather expensive bait - “Maropedka”. So I didn’t even have time to lower it to the bottom when 300 gram perches immediately landed. True, I managed to catch only 4 perches, and the distribution ended.

My plans today were to fish 4 places: 2 places nearby where I was fishing, a 3rd place 92 meters from the first place, and a 4th place closer to the reeds. As you probably understand, I didn’t try the last 2 places, and how could it be when it’s so cool)). At 11.00 the bite stopped completely, the perch refused to take any bait on any horizon.

Perhaps this is due to the bright sun, and in cloudy weather there would not have been such a sudden stop in the bite. But this is all guesswork, who will understand the fish. Now you can relax, drink some tea, and have a little snack. Friends are honking loudly, saying it’s time to get ready to go home. Well, home is home. I take a few photos and off I go.

Fishing Results

In total, I caught 32 perches, most weighing 150-300 grams, but some weighed 400 grams. All the fish were caught using the well-known “Stepanych Voucher”. Even though I had other baits with me, I still didn’t try them.

I would like to note that almost all the fish were squeezing the suspension on the bait. This can only indicate one thing: the fish was passive today. Still, I coped with the task that I set for myself before fishing. And it really warms the soul, despite the fact that the breeze was blowing. Thank you for your attention.
