This lake is of glacial origin, gives rise to the Meshcherikha River and is surrounded by the Klinsko-Dmitrovskaya ridge. Long Lake (Dolgoye village, Glubokoe district, Vitebsk region)

Lake Dolgoe is located in the Glubokoe district of the Vitebsk region, 32 km northeast of the city of Glubokoe, near the villages of Dolgoe, Zyabki and Zaozernaya. Belongs to the river basin. Shosha is the deepest in Belarus. It ranks 22nd in terms of water volume. It is part of the Dolgoye Republican Hydrological Reserve (created in 1979). The terrain is ridged, in places overgrown with open forests and shrubs, as well as copses and forest plantations. Settlements are predominantly in the form of hamlets. There are extensive forests around. The surrounding forests are rich in strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, lingonberries, and mushrooms.

The lake is mesotrophic with signs of oligotrophy. Presumably 12-16 thousand years ago, a glacier got stuck in this place between two hills, which began to melt and waterfalls of melt water fell into its internal crack, forming a narrow and deep crevice. This is how this lake was formed. Its basin resembles a deep canyon, stretching from northwest to southeast, and very steep slopes in many places drop straight to the water, leaving no room for even a narrow strip of shore. The banks are predominantly high (low in the northwest and southeast), steep in places, overgrown with dense bushes, among which there are spruce and oak trees. The shallow water is sandy and sandy-pebble, in places littered, mostly narrow (4-6 m), extensive in the north-west and south. At depths of up to 5 meters, there are accumulations of shell rock. The deeper bottom is clayey, and at greater depths it is muddy. In the bays the bottom is predominantly sapropelous. The depth increases by 10-11 m approximately every 25 m. The greatest depths are in the center of the northern part of the lake, south of the village of Zyabki and in the center of the southern part of the lake, opposite the village of Zaozernaya. Overgrows poorly.

Coastal vegetation is represented by narrow sparse reed thickets on the sands and reed-reed-horsetail colonies in clayey and silty shallow waters. Only in the northwest and southeast are there plants with leaves floating on the surface. A high degree of transparency (5-7 m) creates conditions for rich plant life on silted underwater slopes. Vegetation is even more diverse in shallow areas in the northwest and southeast. Connected by narrow channels in the north with the lake. Svyadovo, in the south from the lake. Among the invertebrates there is a relict of the Ice Age - the Pallas amphipod, listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus.

The mirror area is 2.6 km², length 6 km, maximum width 0.7 km, maximum depth 53.7 m, average depth 12 m, coastline length about 15 km. The water volume is 43.17 million m3, the catchment area is about 31 km?.
