The best wobblers for trolling for pike perch

Today, the fishing equipment market offers a wide variety of rods, lines, reels and much more. A special place here is occupied by wobblers, with the help of which they lure fish. Without good bait, hunting a predator may not take place at all. But often branded wobblers are expensive, and fakes produced in China are ineffective because they are of low quality. But now fishermen have a way out. More recently, a young and small Japanese company, Kosadaka, began producing high-quality baits, but at a low price, borrowing the time-tested best known models.

Distinctive features

Products from the Kosadaka company are copies of popular wobblers that have proven their catchability, produced by well-known manufacturers. Kosadaka wobblers are both externally and internally similar to their originals, are of high quality, but at the same time cost three or four times less.

However, the products produced by Japanese manufacturers have their own distinctive features , which can be attributed to the advantages of baits from Kosadaka:

  1. Products are made from high-strength materials that are safe for the environment and human health.
  2. Models differ in the degree of depth, which allows you to choose bait for any body of water.
  3. Kosadaka wobblers can be universal and highly specialized. The latter are designed to catch a specific type of predator. You can choose a bait for effective hunting of pike, perch, pike perch or chub.

The best inexpensive Kosadaka wobblers

Everyone knows that not all wobblers catch fish equally well. Typically, the catchability of a bait is directly proportional to its price. Expensive “Japanese” fish almost always and everywhere, if, of course, they are used by a person who knows what wiring needs to be used. It's rare to find an expensive wobbler that doesn't work at all. But among the baits in the budget price category, there are a bunch of wobblers that don’t work at all or only catch very active fish.

The majority of CIS fishermen are not rich people. Not everyone can pay 1000-2000 rubles for a bait that can be lost on the first fishing trip. And I don’t want to buy cheap Chinese consumer goods either, because half of these wobblers are of exactly the same use as a keychain. Therefore, we constantly have to look for a price/quality compromise.

The appearance of Kosadaka wobblers on our market is a solution to the constant problem of finding catchable bait. The products of this company are copies of well-known baits from branded companies that have been caught thousands of times. The workmanship, appearance, and internal filling are almost identical to the originals, but the cost is 3-4 times lower. The catchability of Kosadaka wobblers was appreciated by many fishermen in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Most anglers who have fished with Kosadaka products are inclined to believe that the lures work exactly the same as the original models. Some specimens smoke even better than their prototypes...

Experienced fishermen claim that pike perch are best caught using deep-sea bait. Therefore, the wobblers from Kosadak described below are suitable for this predator.

ION DD

The deep-sea baits of this series are large in size (90, 100 and 130 mm) and have an elliptical, reinforced, powerful blade. That is why they are designed for hunting predators from medium size.

The blade of the wobbler has a stable action at different speeds and perfectly maintains the required horizon. The bait imitates the chaotic movements of small fish.

The ION DD 90 F and ION DD 110 F models are suitable for both trolling and spinning fishing. They are equipped with a magnetic system with which the bait can be thrown quite far.

The ION DD 130 F wobbler has a body length of 130 mm, with the dimensions of the product itself being 175 mm. The model weighs 27 grams, so casting it requires powerful tackle.

Kosadaka wobblers of this series have a wide range of colors, sharp powerful tees and a magnetic loading system.

Pike perch rarely react to aggressive fast retrieving, so it should be done slowly. The wobbler must be chosen so that it can be used to raise a small amount of turbidity at the bottom, which stimulates the predator to attack. In addition to those described above, such baits from Kosadaki include:

  1. Model ORB DD 65 is designed for trolling. It will help to catch a medium-sized predator in deep water bodies.
  2. Wobbler Trol DD 80 was produced specifically for hunting predators by trolling. However, with its help you can fish pools, dumps and holes in reservoirs, that is, all those places where pike perch like to hide.
  3. The Costa XS 80 predatory fish bait is designed for fishing in shallow water. It is light in weight, but flies well and plays excellently. And since the center of gravity of the product is shifted to the tail, with one movement of the rod you can make the wobbler dive into the water.

Varieties according to fishing method

Also take note of the fact that Kosadak wobblers (sinking and slowly floating) have higher buoyancy, which can easily be eliminated by installing heavier winding rings or a leash with more weight. Otherwise, these lures are an ideal fighting option in their price range. Often, wobblers are many times superior to their eastern expensive counterparts.

The products are designed for twitching and trolling. Each model range has its own characteristics, as well as advantages and disadvantages.

For trolling

Trolling fishing is very popular in our country. This fishing method has many advantages. The main advantage is excellent catch. However, trolling has not always been very popular. In some countries, this fishing method was banned for many years. But those times are already gone. Now everyone can enjoy it.

Of course, for fishing you will need a boat with a high-quality motor. And you also need to take care of your equipment. First of all, you need to pay attention to the choice of bait. As a rule, various wobblers are used.

When fishing there is a high risk of losing the bait. And the baits that are sold in fishing stores are not cheap at all. Therefore, we recommend paying attention to budget models.

Features of catching perch with a wobbler

First of all, you need to decide on the choice of bait.
Any bait from our list can be used for catching perch if you select the rest of the gear correctly, namely:

  1. The rod is ultralight with a weight of up to 10 g.
  2. The reel is lightweight, with a reliable friction clutch and high-quality line winding.
  3. High-quality braided cord with a diameter of 0.18 - 0.25 mm.

The second most important thing when fishing for perch is wiring.

Although perch is not so picky about this condition, with proper wiring, the number of bites on the wobbler will be much higher.

There are 3 types of wiring:

Stop&go, or wiring with stops

Can be used for catching any predatory fish. The wiring technique consists of several stages. Casting bait - the bait is thrown to the expected habitat of the predator. At an average pace, several revolutions of the reel are made, after which it is necessary to allow the wobbler to completely float to the surface.

Then the cycle of winding the line and stopping is repeated. It is worth noting that this wiring method is only suitable for sinking wobbler models. The bite usually occurs at the moment when the wobbler begins to rise to the surface of the water. If fishing takes place in the current, then in order to deepen the bait to the calculated depth, reeling of the fishing line is carried out more intensively.

Twitching

This type of wiring is very popular among fishermen who prefer to hunt pike , but for catching perch this method of wiring can also be used successfully.

To do this, the bait is cast at a distance of 15 - 20 meters from the shore and, with jerks of the rod and reeling in the fishing line, it is led to the shore. The capture of the bait by a predator can happen at any moment, the main thing is to learn to feel the bait on the tip of the rod and determine the bite in time and hook the perch.

Direct wiring

A very simple tactic to implement.

The wobbler is cast and the fishing line is evenly wound to the shore. This type of wiring can be used for both floating and sinking models. If you use a sinking type of bait, then you need to know exactly the depth of its immersion, since it will not be possible to get a good catch when using a wobbler with a immersion depth of 2-3 meters in the shallows.

Wobblers for trolling

for retrieving bait from a motor boat . Wobblers are thrown into the water, and while moving they are towed. That is why baits should play brightly and well in the water both with fast and slow retrieval. To do this, they must be approximately 6–10 cm in size and have a color that appeals to certain prey. You should also take into account the type of reservoir and its depth.

of Kosadaka wobblers can cope with trolling fishing :

  1. ORB DD - the bait weighs eighteen grams and dives to a depth of up to five meters.
  2. ION DD - with a mass of twenty-seven grams, the wobbler is immersed in a body of water to a depth of six and a half meters.
  3. Troll DD is a plastic wobbler eight centimeters long and weighing seventeen grams, capable of going to a depth of three to five meters.
  4. Rat DD - a fish weighing just over ten grams has a minimum depth of three meters and a maximum depth of five meters.

To successfully hunt a predator with any type of fishing, you need a good quality bait, in which the smallest details will be thought out for its successful play. At the same time, it is desirable that the cost of such a wobbler be affordable to every fisherman. Lures from the Japanese manufacturer Kosadaka have all these advantages.

Wobbler Kosadaka Mascot XS 80F

Kosadaka Mascot XS 80F - a copy of the ZipBaits Orbit 80 wobbler

Wobbler ZipBaits Orbit 80 is a true legend of the fishing world. It has been written and rewritten about him on forums, he constantly appears in articles from fishing magazines. And all because the wobbler is extremely catchy. Of course, the Kosadaka company could not help but copy this wobbler. This is how the Mascot XS 80F appeared on SVT - a bait that many are already calling a complete replacement for the “Orbit”.

Of course, the Kosadaka Mascot XS 80F wobbler turned out to be not as beautiful as the Orbit 80, but, as I already said, the company’s priority is to expand its model range as much as possible. But the body shape is absolutely identical to the prototype. Flight performance is also no worse. And the movements in the water are exactly the same as those of the Orbit 80. The wobbler is responsive to jerks of any strength and intensity. Those. With this wobbler you can catch active fish using aggressive twitching, or you can “persuad” a sleepy pike to attack by using short jerks and frequent pauses. One fisherman once wrote on the forum that having just one Mascot XS 80F with you, you can catch a lot of fish, regardless of what the tasks and conditions are. And I completely agree with his words.

For the money that “orbit” costs, you can buy 3 Mascot XS 80F wobblers. Considering the phenomenal catchability and high-quality performance, the conclusion suggests itself: “Why pay more?” No need. Therefore, don’t overpay and feel free to take the Kosadaka Mascot XS 80F. This bait will bring you many good catches and only positive impressions.

Wobbler Kosadaka Mascot XS 80F PNT - An excellent copy of an excellent wobbler!

Winter for me is a time to renew my fishing arsenal. At this time, my collection of fishing lures is growing at an extremely unusual rate! It was on one of these beautiful sunny days that I became the owner of this extraordinary wobbler - Kosadaka Maskot XS 80F!

It’s worth noting right away that this wobbler is not an independent development of factories that produce wobblers under the Kosadaka brand. This, as they say now, is a “creative rethinking” of another Japanese wobbler Zip Baits Orbit 80SP. In general, a Japanese clone of a Japanese wobbler.

They appeared on me almost simultaneously. Kosadaka Mascot XS 80F differs from Orbit in its positive buoyancy. The wobbler is floating, while Orbit has neutral buoyancy and belongs to the suspending class, which allows it to hover motionless in the water column and thereby provoke a predator to attack. However, I won’t dwell on Orbit in more detail.

Dry statistics - the length of the wobbler is 80 mm, weight 8.5 grams, the declared depth of immersion is 0.2-1.2 meters, but from this value it is better to derive the average value - this will be the real depth of the wobbler. The coating is durable, resistant to pike teeth, but purely in terms of aesthetic perception it is inferior to more famous brands. But what you pay is what you get, quality costs money. The range of colors is not as wide as that of most classmates, but nevertheless it is more than sufficient. There are plenty of variations on the theme of the two main colors - provocative acidic and neutral natural, and the differences in the form of a couple of extra dots on the body of the fish are not fundamental. IMHO. The plastic is strong, high quality, the tees are of very good quality. Hooked fish leave them very rarely.

The body of the fish is oblong, narrow, laterally compressed, which classifies the bait into the Minnow class. It should also be noted that the Kosadaka Mascot XS 80F has a long-casting system, completely copied from the Mag Driwe system of the same Zip Baits Orbit wobbler.

Own game Kosadaka Mascot XS 80F is not very active, but it is used mainly for twiching fishing. In this case, active wiring without long pauses is preferable, since during pauses the wobbler begins to quickly emerge, and this makes its behavior different from the behavior of a live fish. This suggests the conclusion that the bait should be used when the fish are active - in the warm season, and here the wobbler will have no equal. When moving quickly with twitching, the wobbler prowls from side to side and drives all the nearby pike crazy; you just need to choose the speed and amplitude of movement that the predator likes today.

However, if you wish, you can make it suspending. To do this, clamp a pellet sinker of suitable weight onto the forend of the front tee. This “tuning” has virtually no effect on the quality of the wiring, but allows you to use the wobbler in a new way. If you want to place a wobbler at the bottom, then attach a weighty olive eighty centimeters in front of the bait, and move it with pauses, if the bottom is clean - a very effective method of wiring. But still, the elements of Maskota are small rivers and shallow bays of large lakes and reservoirs. This is where he shines best!

The wobbler is excellent both on its own and as a backup. Fishing Zip Baits is like driving a Mercedes. You get some special satisfaction from using a branded item. But the wobblers are almost the same. So is it worth paying more?

The wobbler was caught by me on my first fishing trip and became a worthy competitor to its progenitor ZipBaits Orbit 80.
