Boosters, dips, liquid amino acid complexes in carp fishing

general information

Any homemade dip is based on some nutritious liquid to which essential oils, sweeteners, flavors, glycerin, plant extracts, dried herbs and other ingredients that can affect the fish’s sense of smell have been added. Basically, protein, vegetable oils or simple sugar syrup act as a nutrient liquid.

It is enough to dip the bait in the dip for a few seconds so that it acquires its aroma

how dips for fishing are made with their own hands , having tried several popular and simple recipes on their own. In addition, it is not forbidden to experiment using other components, relying on your fishing experience.

Preparing sugar syrup

To prepare sugar syrup, pour granulated sugar into a clean bowl, pour boiling water, put on low heat and, stirring, bring to a boil until a clear syrup forms.

Remove any foam that appears with a spoon. Wipe off the gray coating that sometimes remains on the spoon with a clean cloth. Do not rinse the spoon with water while cooking the syrup.

Sugar syrup lasts for quite a long time, but when crystals begin to form in the syrup, it must be digested by adding a little water.

Approximate proportion: for 1 liter of syrup – 1 kg of sugar, 750 ml of water.

Below are several recipes for making the most common flavored syrups.

Classes of fishing flavors

There are several groups of the best flavors for fishing :

  1. Spices: coriander, cinnamon, anise, vanillin, garlic;
  2. Sweet fruits and berries: melon, plum, strawberry flavoring;
  3. Fish and meat: red caviar, shell, halibut.

All categories of aromatic additives, to one degree or another, can be used before feeding certain types of fish.

By duration of action

First, it should be noted that dips are not only flavoring agents, but also a kind of preservative that prevents the bait from premature deterioration.

So, the first type of dips can be called fast-acting based on this criterion. Their main task is to give a signal to the fish: there is a “yummy” here! The bait is dipped into this composition for a short time, only to create a surface layer. By the way, dips in the form of sprays are an excellent example of this. The second type of dip is long-lasting or nutritious. In such compositions, bait, for example, boilies or corn grains, can be placed on the eve of fishing, or, in general, stored in an aromatic liquid.

Due to the stabilizers and preservatives contained in the second type of dips, the baits dipped into them remain fresh longer. On the contrary, many argue that long exposure improves the quality of the bait.

Another advantage of nutritional dips is the fact that fish become more quickly saturated with them. This is achieved through the use of protein in formulations.

Attention! Baits prepared in this way work well at any water temperature and emit aromas that are attractive to fish longer.

By cooking method

Dips are prepared on different bases. Due to this, the direction of their application also changes.

Oily

Oil-based dim sum is a classic type; the main component is oil. These flavors do not require additional preparation before use and are relevant for fishermen who have been doing this for a short time.

The relevance is due to:

  • Strong aroma;
  • High concentration.

Sticky

A sticky mass that entangles the nozzle. Serve only for bait, does not saturate the fish’s body with nutrients. When the shell gets into the water, it dissolves gradually, and the inhabitants of the reservoirs react to it. Various scents are available for sale.

The cost of this dip is from 350 rubles per 50 grams.

Powder

Made from different types of powders. Contains ingredients that stimulate appetite. There are different aromas: from tart to pleasant. In sultry heat, it is best to purchase sweet aromas, while in cold weather, meat and fish aromas are best.

Price from 300 rubles for 190 grams.

Gel (neon)

This type of dip is based on a gel-like substance. Due to the fact that it glows under water, this liquid flavor is also called neon.

These dips have a stable odor and fairly good preservation: the color and aroma last for several hours. Products are available for both night and day fishing.

DIY dips

An angler who understands well the essence of how dips work can choose to prepare them himself. They are easy to prepare and, what’s nice, do not clutter up the kitchen like boilies, and we have the opportunity to control the dosage, ingredients and freshness of the product.

The first component that is needed for this is nutritive fluid. To begin with, just one is enough. Dips don't have to have a lot of ingredients - any nutritious liquid is a good dip on its own, especially when added with a hint of flavor or sweetener. Although, of course, several liquids with different properties are usually used at once, which form the so-called dip base. You can add fragrances or essential oils (sometimes both) to this base if necessary.

Theoretically, liquids for the base are selected based on the principle of compatibility with the boilies with which they will be used. But this is only theoretical, since in practice most of them are universal... And carp have their own, sometimes quite unexpected for us, concept of compatibility.

The list of liquids used in nutritional dips is wide. First of all, of course, we should mention easily digestible proteins - Minamino, Amino PPC and all their various types, known under various names. Next come products obtained from the industrial processing of corn or sugar beets (CSL and molasses), fish oils, vegetable oils, natural extracts of shells and crustaceans (belachan, mussels, krill), natural plant extracts (corn, hazelnut, paprika...) , appetite stimulants, soluble fish protein, soluble liver, betaine, natural and artificial sweeteners, flavors, essential oils, etc. And also, last but not least, glycerin. Often glycerin in commercial dips is presented as a bulking ingredient because it makes the dip stick well to the bait and keep the particles in suspension (where needed). Can be used with any aroma, strengthens boilies for a long time and acts as a preservative. Plus, it's cheap.

Nutritional dips are not just liquids. They can successfully include additives in powder form, for example, betaine or palatant extracts. So making dips is a wide creative field, in which the fisherman is limited only by his own imagination.

Raw materials for fishing flavors

Difficulties with purchasing aromatic additives arise regularly; they are not sold everywhere. If the required component cannot be found, it is replaced with special fishing concentrates. Certain essential oils are sold in pharmacies, and spices can be found in almost all grocery stores. The results from using food flavoring additives are good, but they are not easy to find. You will have to browse the pages of online stores or visit retail stores that sell confectionery products.

Flavorings for specific fish: types and application

The choice of aromatic additive is influenced not only by seasonality. The taste preferences of certain fish should also be taken into account. Let's take a look at what exactly the inhabitants of Russian reservoirs like. A flavoring agent for bream, silver bream or roach should contain the following spices:

  • strawberry;
  • vanilla;
  • cinnamon;
  • pear;
  • anise;
  • honey.

A special feature is garlic flavor , which has a bright aroma and can attract bream from long distances.

What flavors does crucian carp like? The best way to use this is:

  • fried sunflower seeds;
  • vegetable oil;
  • walnuts;
  • balm “Star”;
  • fragrant spices: garlic, dill, cloves;
  • cocoa or chocolate;
  • kerosene.

If the object of fishing is carp, it is best to resort to help:

  • flavoring with the smell of fresh pear;
  • red pepper;
  • caramel essence;
  • vanilla;
  • hemp;
  • garlic;
  • honey;
  • mint.

Animal scents that are suitable for catching pike perch, perch or other predatory fish are:

  • shells;
  • shrimp;
  • blood;
  • crabs

All mentioned options have been tested by many years of experience and observations of fishermen, and therefore can be considered as a guide to action.

Correct dips and liquids for cold water

Currently, the development of the carp industry has reached such heights that there are practically no unsolvable problems with fishing bites. Remembering the cold spring and summer of 2021, which taught us all how to fish in truly extreme conditions. The fish's metabolism was slowed down, it was not as active as during the long good summer weather, and frequent changes in pressure greatly affected it. The golden rules for fishing in cold water are maximum attractiveness, minimum nutritional value. And for these purposes, CCMoore has a special series of winter liquids and additives that perform best in cold water. Attracting fish, but not saturating them. If we briefly describe the differences between winter liquids and summer ones, then, first of all, they are not so thick. A thinner liquid will dissolve faster in cold water. It is very important. Thick fish liquids can generally lie like a dead weight on the bottom and not give any effect. The following liquids and flavors are recognized as one of the leaders in cold water and are considered favorites in early spring, autumn, or simply in cold summer, as was the case in 2017. Winter PVA We all use PVA in one form or another. Some people make bags, others make regular sticks. Basically, we add some small fish nutrient pellets there, but in the colder months it is better to replace the oily pellets with Milkimin or Live System pellets. They work in the cold season at the same speed as fish ones in the summer. The most balanced option for liquidity is to use Ultramino. It's great for pouring into a bag or soaking a stick in it. It provides a juicy cloud of various nutrients that spreads in the cold water, but the fish won't get fed up with heavy feeding. Just what you need!

Deepening the bait correctly In winter, it is better to use not dips, but special flavors to make the bait attractive, which should be bright. According to established practice, bright colors attract fish better in cold water. Add just a couple of drops of flavor to a jar of pop-ups or boilies. One of the best cold water flavors by far is Geoff Kemp's series and its warm, creamy varieties. Milk/Ice Cream Flavor, or Mellow Brandy. By the way, a 30kg carp was once caught with the latter, which is one of the records for the winter period!

What to Add to Your Spod Mix During the winter months, it makes sense to create a smoke screen in your swim to stir up inactive fish. This recipe can also be used to prepare “provocation” when fishing with a zig-rig. You will need Milk & Nut Crush sweet bait, as well as Amino Blend 365 liquid. The last three numbers are in its name for a reason. It is equally good in summer and winter and is almost the most versatile liquid in the entire CCMoore line. But still, by all accounts, it is ideal for cold water. Still, in the summer you can rely on much more narrowly targeted additives, but the cold season is the time of Amino Blend 365.

What to add to corn Corn is considered a good additive for carp fishing; almost everyone uses it. But it is even more effective in winter. It is bright, sweet, and is best enhanced with liquid betaine. Liquid Betaine is a very liquid liquid that dissolves well in the coldest water and can further enhance the appeal of a small table of a couple of handfuls of canned or frozen corn.

How to make a flavoring agent for fishing with your own hands?

Any store-bought spray consists of main and auxiliary ingredients. Either alcohol or glycerin plus water is used as the main one. And the additional one is just those same different aromas (smells).

I’ll immediately explain why they don’t use just ordinary water as a base. The fact is that water-based aerosols use up their scent faster - it simply washes off within a few minutes.

If, of course, you don’t have alcohol or glycerin on hand and the bite is not active, then there is no way out - fill it with water.

Glycerin spray only works in hot weather (warm water), and alcohol sprays only work in cold water.

The store sells concentrated essences in small bottles of 30-100 grams.

Sweet, flavorful and easy to make dip

Quite effective when catching any fish. It is based on sugar syrup, which is prepared as follows: 1 kg of sugar is poured into 0.7 liters of water and brought to a boil, skimming off the foam periodically. Then add a packet of vanillin to the syrup and cook for another 6 - 8 minutes. All that remains is to cool and use on your next fishing trip.

Garlic dip

Garlic dip for fishing is also not at all difficult to prepare, and there are several recipes for this dip. For 150 g of sugar, take 50 ml of water, bring everything to a boil and add 3 large crushed garlic cloves to the syrup. Leave until completely cooled, strain. Garlic dip is ready to use.

Alcohol based dip

Dips using alcohol last much longer, but they are used in the form of a spray.

Alcohol-based dip is used as a spray

For a glass of vodka, take a pinch of dried herbs: cloves, anise, cinnamon, garlic and dill. Infuse in a dark, tightly sealed container for one month. Strain and use for fishing.

Garlic sweet

It is no secret that many carp fish are very partial to the smell of garlic, especially for such a fastidious inhabitant of our ponds, crucian carp. The hot vegetable dip is prepared using sugar syrup, which reliably retains the smell.

Compound:

  • water – 50 ml;

How to make meat sprays?

Getting meat flavors is very easy. You need to take bloodworms, worms, maggots and grind them separately or crush them with a coffee grinder. Next, place it in a jar and fill it with alcohol. After that, we put it in a cool place and wait 3 weeks. The result will be a hood. Mix it with glycerin or the same alcohol and water and pour it into a spray bottle. Of course, it’s easier to buy such sprays. Moreover, now they are easy to order online. But if you have the desire and opportunity, then you can easily get homemade meat sprays that are no worse than store-bought ones.

Spicy smell for bait

Pour ground cinnamon, coriander, cloves (you can also grind them) into granulated sugar and mix. Then pour in water, add lemon juice and boil over low heat for up to 10 minutes.

For 1 liter of syrup - 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon and coriander, 16 cloves, 8 teaspoons of lemon juice.

All of the above recipes can be changed at your discretion: you can change the concentration of sugar syrup (adding or reducing the amount of sugar or water), increase or decrease the amount of flavorings, you can use store-bought concentrated flavorings, the field for independent creative work is limitless.

How to use

There are not many rules, so they are easy to remember. Let's list the main ones:

  • When aromatizing baits and baits, you need to know when to stop. You can’t get too carried away, otherwise the strong smell will not attract, but will scare away the fish.
  • Some store-bought flavors can be safely considered disposable, since before the next fishing trip they lose their properties and become completely unusable. This should be taken into account when purchasing.
  • The mixtures must be stored in a tightly closed container, always in the refrigerator (in the lower compartment).
  • You need to add flavoring to the bait gradually, in small doses, until the expected effect appears.
  • If the product is alcohol-based, it is better to lubricate only the hook with it and not apply it to the bait.
  • For processing baits intended for predatory fish, oils and sprays are more suitable, as well as compositions in which the bait can be dipped or soaked. They have high durability.

Types of flavors

The classification of attractants is broad. So:

According to their intended purpose, flavorings are:

  • For bait;
  • For the nozzle.

If you pay attention to the type of fish, they may have a purpose:

  • For general use, for example, standard spices, strawberries or cocoa;
  • For targeted use, for example, on bream or carp.

Depending on the form of release, there are:

  • Dry flavorings;
  • Flavorings in the form of syrup;
  • Flavorings in the form of a spray.
  • Liquid flavorings, which can also have a high concentration of the substance.

In this case, it is recommended to add dry and spray flavors to the bait. As for the rest, they are considered universal and can be used for different purposes. Moreover, you can make attractants yourself at home. This will not only save you money, but will also not take much time.

The best natural flavors for carp fishing and their use

The aroma that is pleasant to the human sense of smell is not always the same for carp. After all, most freshwater fish, in essence, do not recognize odors. Their olfactory system reacts to the chemical composition of the aromatic substance, identifying components that are appetizing to the body. Carp's favorite smells are:

Vanilla (vanillin, vanilla sugar) One of the most pleasant odors for most freshwater fish. In addition to carp, it usually actively attracts bream, roach, ide and other representatives of this family. A thirty-gram bag of vanilla sugar is enough to make a half-kilogram volume of groundbait mixture or vegetable bait appetizing. Sprays and drops with vanilla aroma are also widely popular. Drops are applied directly to the bait/attachment. Fruit aromas are represented by numerous variations of both pure odors (banana, strawberry, peach, pineapple, plum, etc.) and all sorts of combinations thereof. They are used to create attractive baits and increase the effectiveness of baits in the warm season. Honey is another very effective attractant for carp. Usually used for warm water, but can be no less effective during cold seasonal periods, especially in combination with other aromas. Caramel is usually used to impregnate the nozzle or apply to its surface. Sometimes it is the only effective liquid, although it is not used as often as the above-described odors. Hemp Perhaps the most traditional, classic flavoring. The Russian fisherman-encyclopedist Sabaneev recommended the use of hemp cake/oil for carp fishing. It is used throughout the year, usually in combination with other attractants. Garlic This flavoring is rarely used in its pure form. Typically serves as a complementary ingredient to various fruit, vanilla and honey attractants. Applicable throughout the year.

A separate group of flavoring agents are substances used in cool water, when the temperature of the carp’s habitat does not exceed ten degrees. At this time, most freshwater fish prefer food of animal origin - plankton, small crustaceans, insect larvae, shells and snails.

Even such peaceful species as carp and bream at this time do not disdain their small counterparts - as proof of this, there are many cases of catching them in autumn/spring with a small spoon or silicone spinning bait.

When fishing for carp in autumn and winter, it is best to use flavors that remind it of the smells of aquatic life - fish oil, crab attractants, with the aroma of maggots, shells, cod liver and the like. Such liquids are used both independently and in combination with other favorite carp flavorings - hemp and garlic.

Vanilla aroma

Add vanilla, vanilla sugar or vanilla pods, divided into halves, to the syrup boiling over low heat.

After cooking, remove the syrup from the heat, you can strain it, cool it and pour it into bottles or jars (if you have vanilla pods, rinse them with boiled water and put them in a container).

For 1 liter of syrup, 3-4 vanilla pods, or 1 packet of vanillin, or 5-6 packets of vanilla sugar. But, in principle, each angler must choose the concentration of flavoring himself.

Feedback from fishermen about use

I have been an avid fisherman for almost 45 years. I tried different baits, which showed themselves in different ways, but this review will be about the flavor. I bought completely different dips with flavors, but I didn’t notice any effect. Maybe, of course, I used it incorrectly. I use homemade garlic flavoring, it’s cheap and cheerful, it’s never let me down.

Ivan Petrovich

And my opinion is only positive. At first I didn’t notice any effect either, but then my neighbor told me how and at what time to use it. Maybe it was a coincidence, or maybe the flavoring had an effect, but he brought a whole bag of fish.

Alexander Alexandrovich

Yes, the effect is amazing, I brought a whole bunch of fish and this was in just an hour. The only downside I can mention is the cost, a little more than average. I only purchased the sticky milk flavor. On my last fishing trip I heard how other fishermen were making their own flavoring with honey and decided to try it on my next trip.

Anatoly Evgenievich

There is no effect, a waste of money, I didn’t dare make a homemade dip.

Stanislav Mikhailovich

Yes, of course, there are a lot of new products, but they all cost money. I make sap syrup and dip bait in it and have been doing this for 15 years. Of course, I would like to try the dip, but I haven’t found it in my stores, as soon as I come across it I’ll definitely buy it and try it, it’s interesting.

Vasily Olegovich

Let's celebrate! Even based on the results of reviews, the effectiveness of deepening has not been proven, however, you should adhere to the rules of use at different times of the year by selecting aromas, perhaps this will give a positive result. In any case, the use of a flavoring will not harm either the fisherman or the fish.

Sticky dips

This is the second type of dip. They adhere very well to various surfaces. Because of this, they are called that. These attractants also have no nutritional value and, like oil ones, are used only to attract fish.

When we put the nozzle into a jar of sticky liquid, the nozzle acquires a shell with a strong aroma. Once in water, the shell slowly dissolves. It can be said that most sticky dips dissolve more slowly than oil dips.

To make the sticky dip a little runnier, you can warm it up a little. It will be easier to dip the nozzle into this mixture. In water it will harden again and will dissolve for the same long time. In some cases, dips can be used to glue foam, pellets, and airy dough. You will get combined nozzles.

This is not to say, sticky dips are widely used by carp anglers. They are rarely found on sale. Perhaps in the future manufacturers will be more active in promoting this product. I'd like to hope so, since sticky dips are quite effective.
