Gear equipment
Fishing stores have a wide range of fishing poles, but many fishermen make them themselves. The main part of the gear is a bracket with a reel, which is mounted on a round stand or wooden plank 35-40 cm long. A spring with a bright flag at the end of a stick acts as a signal guide.
In order not to look for rag beacons in the dark with a flashlight, some anglers install a red LED that lights up when there is a bite. It is small, but clearly visible at a distance of up to 200 meters.
For equipment, 12-14 meters of fishing line with a cross-section of 0.3 mm and higher are used. You also need a tungsten leash, a weight and a hook with 1-3 wires. As an alternative, some anglers switch to braided line with a diameter of 0.1-0.12 mm, citing a clearer bite and a more reliable hook.
Catching pike at night sometimes involves small samples of bait, so it is advisable to use a falling guard. The stability of the girder is important so that it does not tip over in the wind.
In addition to the gear listed above, you should stock up on warm clothes, a tent, a thermos with hot tea, and a powerful flashlight. Not everyone can sit out the night on a pond. If there is a car left on the shore, many fishermen take advantage of this and run to warm themselves during periods of calm.
Fishing with girders as an interesting type of winter fishing
Along with the use of spinners, balancers and amphipods, the use of which is justified in certain fishing conditions, girders are more universal gear that allows you to catch pike in those reservoirs where there are very few of them and they are very careful. If there is a sufficient amount of pike in the reservoir, then fishing for girdles will always be effective. In such conditions, spinners with balancers can be used with the same success. But in reservoirs where there are few pike, it can only be caught with the help of a girder. Considering the fact that the girders can be installed for an indefinite period of time, then at night, or rather closer to the morning, there is a high probability of catching a trophy pike.
Depending on the size of the reservoir, various fishing tactics are used. On large reservoirs, several dozen holes are drilled at once and girders are placed. In those holes where there were pike bites, they begin to fish the water column using spinners of various origins. If fishing is carried out only using girders (many fishermen do this so as not to bother too much and not carry a whole bunch of gear with them), then additional girders are placed next to the holes where predators have bitten. Some fishermen practice catching both predatory and peaceful fish. Unfortunately, this does not lead to effectiveness, especially if there are several girders installed that you have to monitor. If the pike begins to be actively caught, then it is unlikely that it will be possible to catch peaceful fish at the same time.
The advantage of the girder is that it is effective on any body of water, including unfamiliar ones. Place it and wait for the bite to happen. And a certain number of girders always give hope for productive fishing.
This is a very simple device in terms of design, but quite effective. The main thing is to learn how to use it correctly.
