Features of fishing in the Rostov region
Before traveling to the Rostov region, it is advisable for an angler to familiarize himself with the species composition of fish living in local reservoirs and find out what time of year is best to catch predatory and peaceful representatives of the local ichthyofauna. You will also need to make a map of the reservoirs where fishing may be most promising.

- asp;
- perch;
- saberfish;
- catfish;
- pike;
- acne;
- burbot.
Most local and visiting anglers use spinning gear to fish for predatory species, which allows them to quickly find a concentration of fish. Catfish are often caught using quok.
At certain periods of the year, anadromous and semi-anadromous species enter the rivers of the Rostov region, which, after spawning, return to the Sea of Azov or estuaries with slightly salted water. These representatives of the ichthyofauna include:

Reservoir map
The fishing map of the Rostov region is represented by many diverse reservoirs. The most frequently visited rivers are:
- Don;
- Seversky Donets;
- Sal;

Successful fishing in the Rostov region is possible not only on the Don and its numerous tributaries, but also on standing reservoirs. The most popular lakes among anglers include:
- Manych-Gudilo;
- Black;
- Chernetskoe;
- Bakalda.
The Tsimlyansk Reservoir also deserves attention from anglers. Throughout the year, this reservoir offers excellent fishing for predatory and peaceful fish. It is from here that news most often comes about the capture of trophy pike, pike perch, catfish and bream.
Excellent fishing spots can also be found at the Manychsky cascade, which includes a group of the following reservoirs:

When is the best time to fish?
The time of a fishing trip to the Rostov region should be selected depending on what type of fish the angler is interested in catching. Most peaceful representatives of the ichthyofauna exhibit increased feeding activity in May and the first half of June. The best bite is observed in the early morning and before sunset.
In May, very exciting fishing is also possible on the Don in the Rostov region. This is due to the fact that in the spring, migratory species enter the largest water artery of the region, which actively feed on the way to their spawning grounds and willingly bite on various types of amateur gear.
By mid-summer the bite usually dies down, but you can still fish well during this period. Still active:
- roach;
- White amur;
- carp;
- silver carp;
- rudd;
- crucian carp;
- bream;
- tench.
When the water temperature rises above 25 degrees, many representatives of peaceful fish species switch to a nocturnal feeding mode. At night, they can be successfully caught using feeder and float gear by attaching special fireflies to bite alarms.
Fishing in Rostov and the Rostov region in autumn
If an angler prefers to catch predatory representatives of the ichthyofauna, then fishing in Rostov and the Rostov region in the fall will be more interesting for him. At this time, the water temperature rapidly drops, which significantly increases the activity of the following species:
- pike perch;
- bersha;
- perch;
- pike;
- burbot.
In the first autumn month, increased appetite is observed in more heat-loving breeds, which include catfish, saberfish and asp. Peak fishing for pike perch and pike occurs in the second half of October. It is at this time that spinners come across the largest specimens of predators. The burbot's feast occurs when the water temperature drops to 7 degrees.
With the arrival of winter, the exciting fishing in these parts does not end. On reservoirs, rivers and lakes, the most active bite is observed on the first and last ice. Rivers where the oxygen regime is more favorable due to the flow can offer good catches throughout the entire freeze-up period.
