My stepfather was considering the option of relaxing and fishing on Salt Lake. After listening to him and appreciating the reviews, I decided to go to this place and explore. True, I was poorly prepared: I only took a spinning rod and wobblers with me. But I studied the road: from Rostov-on-Don I went along the M-4 highway to Krasnodar, turned around under the crossing bridge and left the highway onto the road along it, drove through a beach, a dirt road, a closed base, and on the next dirt road turned right.

In this place, the quality of the road is disgusting; low-set cars will definitely get caught on their bottoms. After about 150 m, the road surface is already better. Having approached, I saw a sandy shore about 10 meters wide, but there was so much garbage on it that I decided to move further along the edge.

There, a day later, having gone out again, I stopped and started catching perch with a spinning rod with a suspended acid-green vibrotail, each weighing about 200 g. As soon as the bite stopped, I installed a powerful spinner of unknown manufacture. I felt a blow, the clutch started working... It was a pike weighing about 1 kg.

Small, but lively. Afterwards it began to get dark, and I moved to a half-submerged dredger. There I caught a couple of perch and a striper. I associate a weak bite with a large school of fry swimming along the shore; I think the perches have had enough of them. In the future I plan to try feeder fishing, the place is clearly promising.

Once a friend and I decided to catch predatory fish on the Don. I built a special tackle (J-head with a vibrating tail) and began to hook as usual. My comrade quickly got tired of the fruitless fishing, and only I began to catch. Suddenly the line pulled properly, a friend took the landing net, and we pulled out the catfish. Less than an hour later, an individual of the same species was caught again, only in size it was 3 or 4 times larger than the previous one. Even the reel on the spinning rod could not stand it; the catch was lifted manually.

As soon as we caught the first catfish, we cleaned it, rolled it in spices and onions and wrapped it in foil. Within an hour it began to smell fragrant, so they decided to hang the second one on the kukan. We threaded a three-meter rope from the gill into the mouth (otherwise it would not have worked), tied it and let it go under the raft.

In the morning I saw a fisherman, diligently showing something with gestures. I immediately realized that it was a catfish that swam up. When I ran up, I saw that the catfish was very entangled, I began to throw it over, it spun three times, freed itself and swam away. I don’t regret the loss; there are a lot of large, tasty fish on the Don.

This year, on March 18, I fished at the Vesely Manych base on a rod with float tackle. Mostly rudd and ram were caught.
