The rich reservoirs of the Vladimir region make fishing popular and promising. Local reservoirs are very rich in fish, quite large and varied. Moreover, the fish is found both in large reservoirs and in small rivers and channels.
Fishing in the Vladimir region is considered universal, since you can fish from the shore and from a boat, it all depends on your preferences and capabilities. With all this, in local reservoirs there is something for those who like fishing with a float rod, feeder or spinning rod.
What kind of fish is found in the Vladimir region
The Vladimir region is rich in a variety of fish, but not everyone manages to catch it. Most likely, this is due to the wrong choice of fishing location, gear or bait. But the lucky ones manage to catch quite a lot of fish, among which you can most often find:
- Yelets;
- crucian carp;
- Ruff;
- Burbot;
- Perch;
- Line;
- Roach;
- Minnow;
- Bleak;
- Silver carp;
- Ide;
- Pike.
The list of the most common fish in this region can be continued indefinitely, since there are quite a lot of reservoirs and they are all diverse, and the underwater world is also quite different. Now, I think it’s time to decide on places for fishing, because not everyone knows where to fish.
Fishing in Aleksandrov, Vladimir region
The Vladimir region has a small amount of water resources, but it is quite enough to meet the fishing needs of the local population. Fishing in Aleksandrov, Vladimir region, deserves special attention, since in its vicinity there are a number of reservoirs suitable for fishing. There are no giant rivers here, and local water resources are, for the most part, small, little-known rivers, ponds and lakes. However, fishing in the Vladimir region provides enough opportunities to catch fish. One of the most famous options is Lake Dichkovskoe, which is a unique natural site and is located within the city. This reservoir is recharged from underground sources, as well as from precipitation falling in the area. The area of the lake is extremely large and reaches twenty hectares, which makes this reservoir one of the largest in the surrounding area. The average depth of this lake is about ten meters, although some areas reach fifteen meters deep. The shores of the lake are heterogeneous along its entire length. Thus, the eastern slope is full of steep areas, very convenient for fishing. There is also a forest area and aquatic vegetation here. Since this lake is located directly in the city, it does not have huge fish stocks. However, the lake is home to an abundance of crucian carp, bream, and pike, while other fish are practically absent.
Fishing in Aleksandrov, Vladimir region, can also take place on other, lesser-known reservoirs. One of them is the Andreevskaya Dam, as well as the reservoir of the village of Legkovo, located nearby. If you fish at the dam, you can count on a good catch, most of which will be small perch. There are especially many of this type of fish in this place, however, in order to get a really big catch, you will have to try and choose a suitable place. If we are talking about Legkovo, then it is very likely to catch large and small pike, as well as carp and crucian carp, while there is no other fish here. The local reservoir is not very deep, but you can find an incredible abundance of aquatic vegetation in it, and it is known to be a favorite place for ambushes of pike.
It is very important to accurately select gear for such fishing, because in conditions of such lush vegetation, it is very easy to get hooked and subsequent loss of the bait used. Therefore, it is best to fish with a spinning rod and use a non-snagging variety as a bait. Much attention should be paid to the quality of the rod and fishing line. The spinning rod must be strong because despite the fact that most of the pike caught here are small in size, sometimes there are large specimens that can damage a low-quality fishing rod. It is better to prefer braided fishing line, as it is much stronger than regular fishing line and will not break due to the resistance of the caught fish.
It is important to use a leash, preferably fluorocarbon, so that the predator does not have the opportunity to chew the fishing line. You can also use a steel leash during fishing, but it is of lower quality and much more noticeable in the water. If the choice fell not on a spinning rod, but on a float rod, then it is best to use live bait as a bait. Any small fish is suitable for this role, with the possible exception of the ruff. The latter will only scare away the fish, as it has rather sharp fins and an unpleasant appearance for pike. It is important to rig the bait so that the hook is completely hidden in the bait, similar to a no-snag rig. This will allow you to successfully catch a pike, while completely eliminating the possibility of snagging and subsequent loss of bait. If you follow these tips, fishing in Aleksandrov, Vladimir region, will be successful and will delight the fisherman with a good catch.
Map of fishing spots
The Oka River is known to many; it is considered one of the most important rivers in the region and the region as a whole. Due to its proximity to the city of Vladimir, you can often meet local fishermen and vacationers on the banks of the Oka. Still, the proximity of the location to the central city makes itself felt.
There are a lot of different fish in the river, the most common are pike, bream, roach, silver bream and carp, and there is even more than enough bleak in the reservoir. A large amount of bleak (food supply for predatory fish) allows pike and perch in the river to reach impressive sizes. The underwater giant catfish is considered an enviable catch for experienced fishermen on this river.
The Klyazma River is also famous among Vladimir fishermen, although it is not much different from fishing on the Oka. The fish are exactly the same and are caught using similar gear, although sometimes the lucky ones end up with sterlet in their catches. But it is prohibited to catch this fish, so if you catch it, you must definitely release it into its usual habitat.
A special feature of the river is a large population of golden bream. This is a very large fish and it got its name due to the unusual body color, similar to precious metal. But this river is famous not only for bream; large perch, burbot and dace are also caught.

How to catch more fish?
I have been active fishing for quite some time and have found many ways to improve the bite. And here are the most effective:
- Bite activator. Attracts fish in cold and warm water with the help of pheromones included in the composition and stimulates its appetite. It’s a pity that Rosprirodnadzor wants to impose a ban on its sale.
- More sensitive gear. Reviews and instructions for other types of gear can be found on the pages of my website.
- Lures using pheromones.
