The river becomes shallow at this time, and the dam leading down to the beach is filled with many swimmers. However, at night and early in the morning, while it is still quiet, you can see boats and fishing rods here. Of course, you can use the stocked reservoirs of the fish farm, but real amateurs prefer, although without luck, to fish in natural conditions. If you're lucky, you'll come back with a trophy pike.

The reservoir was formed in 1935 on the Istra River during the construction of the Kuibyshev dam. This man-made reservoir is considered one of the oldest and largest reservoirs in the Moscow region.

The maximum depth of this man-made reservoir reaches 23 meters, and the average depth is about 5-6 m, the length of the reservoir is 22 km, and the width is only about 2 km. The reservoir area is 33.6 square meters. km. The Istra Reservoir carries out long-term regulation of water flow. In dry years, the water level can drop to 12 m.

Many bays formed by flooded small rivers on this reservoir, a large number of stumps and snags on its bottom, as well as springs near the coastal strip create favorable conditions for aquatic inhabitants. Therefore, there is always a lot of fish in the Istra Reservoir, and in winter there is never any mortality due to the oxygen saturation of the water.

Roach, bleak, perch, bream, pike, pike perch and many other inhabitants of reservoirs thrive in this reservoir.

For fishermen at the Istra Reservoir, all conditions have been created for their favorite activity and recreation. If desired, fishing lovers can settle down on the shore “savage”, or they can stop at one of the fishing bases, among which the most popular are: “Istra”, “Nudol”, “Pyatnitsky Reach”, “Lopotovo”. Many bases offer boat rentals and all the necessary fishing equipment.

Winter fishing is considered especially attractive for fishermen, when the water level in this reservoir is artificially lowered, as a result of which a current appears on the Katysh River, which is a source of fresh water that attracts a large number of fish.

in autumn

In November there are frequent and dense fogs in the morning. An echo sounder helps. Having approached the promising bottom topography, you can use multi-colored foam rubber to lift a respectable pike or pike perch on a spinning rod. Peak pike fishing begins around the 20th of October . The entire dam bristles with donks.

Features of fishing and main fish

Fishing on the Mozhaisk Reservoir is a favorite pastime of local residents and visiting fishermen. There are a good three dozen species of fish here, both local and artificially bred. On the banks of the reservoir there are several fishing farms that are engaged in “planting” young animals into the water. Bream, ide, perch, silver bream, pike perch, pike, roach, bleak - this is just a small list of the species that can be caught in the reservoir.

You can hunt “for the catch and the smell of fish soup” along the entire coast of the Mozhaisk Sea. According to reviews from experienced fishermen, perch, roach, ruffe and chub are well caught in Krasnovidovo. For bleak, ruff, ide and pike, you should go to the Zarechnaya Sloboda area. Myshkino and Babynino are the best places for catching pike perch, pike perch and asp. People come to Pozdnyakovo and Goretovo for carp and roach. In the area of the village of Levashovo, the shore of the reservoir is ideal for both fishing from the shore and swimming - there is an ideal sandy coastline.

in winter

Experienced pike perch hunters spend the month of December in deep holes. Some try their luck in bad places. You are not always lucky; both spinners and even offset rigs get caught. In January they are sometimes caught on the water. And in February the ice is already strong, you need to drill more than 20 cm thick. That makes it all the more joyful to open or replenish your account of winter victories. The fishing line is needed stronger - 0.2, 0.3. The catchable spinners must be identified by sorting out different types. Some craftsmen even make them from spoons by sawing off the handle and drilling holes for a hook. In shallow places, feeding holes attract roaches. It is not recommended to use traditional bloodworms; all sorts of little things, like hungry brushes, are thrown at them. In general, the best bite is during the thaw. Author: Pike.Pinsk©, photo: 19TOLYAN71, fly, Dima68.

Pudyshi, Yauzskoye Reservoir - fishing in winter

Avid fishermen prefer to go to the Yauzskoye Reservoir in winter.

Fishing here during this period has a number of features:

  • Ice does not form in many areas due to warm currents;
  • The fish you come across are heavy; often in the winter months trophy varieties are fished out;
  • There is an excellent bite on artificial and always scented baits.

In order to leave with a decent catch in winter, you need to know some nuances regarding this reservoir:

  1. From the beginning of January to the end of February the ice is thickest.
  2. White bream and silver bream migrate to maximum depth - they bite most in areas where the depth is from 8 to 9 meters.
  3. Only pike are found in the pits - from December to February, pike bite excellently on small crucian carp and pieces of fresh liver.
  4. Towards mid-March, bream and silver bream are found at a depth of 4-5 meters.

Bream and silver bream begin to move towards shallow water as air and water temperatures rise.

Experienced fishermen highlight the most fruitful places for fishing in the winter months:

  • near the villages of Bolshie Nosovye and Arzhaniki;
  • to the right of the village of Pudyshi.

Advice: you can try fishing in less popular areas, the main thing is to use the right bait in this case.

Knowledgeable fishermen suggest that on the Yauza Reservoir in the winter season a fruitful catch is guaranteed by:

  1. The use of several gears , especially with increased sensitivity.
  2. Using bloodworms as bait. If it is difficult to obtain natural baits, then artificial baits are a good alternative, most importantly small in size, shiny in color and with a pungent odor.
  3. The holes should not be too small.

Advice: on a reservoir, especially in popular places, many holes remain from previous anglers. It is worth paying attention to them so as not to waste your time making new ones.

Features of aquifers

The entire territory of the region is located on the hills and is rich in water resources. On the territory of the Mozhaisk district are the sources of the rivers Vorya, Luzha, Moscow, Protva and Rut, as well as the largest reservoir in this area, the Mozhaisk reservoir (the largest basin feeding the Moscow River and its tributaries - Inoch, Iskona and Koloch). Artesian waters are fed by the Podolsko-Myachkovsky aquifer, and in some settlements by the Kashira underground basin. In other words, there are a lot of prerequisites for water drilling in this area.
