The Pirogovskoye reservoir is located 15 km north of Moscow in the Mytishchi district of the Moscow region. It is part of the Moscow Canal, built in the thirties of the last century. The length of the reservoir is 7 kilometers, the maximum width is more than a kilometer, the depth can reach twenty meters. Because of its elongated shape, the reservoir is sometimes called the Pirogovsky branch; it is easy to find on the map moving north from the city of Mytishchi. The reservoir received its name from the village of Pirogovo, which is still located on the shore of the reservoir.
Recreation centers of the Pirogovskoe reservoir
The recreation center Bay of Joy is located in one of the most picturesque places on the coast of the Pirogovsky reservoir. The territory of the Bay of Joy base occupies more than five hectares. Cozy houses, cafes, playgrounds, and water activities coexist here. A unique feature of the Bay of Joy recreation area is the opportunity to rent a gazebo, covered veranda, tent or a whole complex of open buildings. You cannot approach it closer than two hundred meters, it is forbidden to swim or ride boats. The mysterious history of the lake’s origins begins in the 1933s. Then, for some unknown reason, nearby villages, ancient temples, the Ekaterininsky tract, and the Gevorkovs’ wool-spinning factory were flooded. Now all these objects are under water. It is difficult to get to the object; it is well guarded. The only place where you can enter the site is the dam at the checkpoint on the Pestovo side. It's on the south coast. Pike, bream, tench, carp, roach are found here, herons walk, otters swim near the shore. Pirogovskoe Reservoir how to get from Moscow
By car, you can get to the Pirogovskoye Reservoir along the Ostashkovskoye Highway, a drive of about twenty kilometers. Depending on traffic jams, the travel time to the reservoir can be from half an hour to an hour and a half. By public transport you can get from the Medvedkovo metro station by minibus 166 or by bus 314, 438. Go to the Sorokino or Podrezkovo stop. From there to the Pirogovsky coast is no more than 15 minutes on foot.
