What to take with you on a fishing trip to Astrakhan

What to take with you when fishing on Akhtuba, including Three Rivers? This question worries everyone who is planning to go to these fertile,

The region is rich in river fauna - both professionals and novice fishermen. In this article we will try to give some useful recommendations on the selection of gear and bait for various methods of catching certain types of Lower Volga fish. On Akhtuba, depending on the season and the intended method of catching a particular type of fish, you may need various spinning tackle:

middle class - for catching medium-sized catfish, pike, pike perch, asp; light class - for perch, rudd, sabrefish; Donks for catching carp, medium-sized catfish, and maybe very powerful tackle for catching trophy catfish. For fans of float gear, we can suggest choosing a Bologna or wire float fishing rod, a match rod for long casting and a medium-power feeder rod.

Catfish fishing gear

Fishing for catfish is an activity for real men! Catfish on the Volga and Akhtuba reach several tens of kilograms, and given that this is an extremely strong fish, the fight against it can be grueling (sometimes up to 2-3 hours) and requires considerable endurance and composure. But the impressions will remain in the fisherman’s memory for a long time. You will need gear with a large margin of safety. To catch an average “sports” (15-35 kg) catfish with a spinning rod on a track or a donkey, you will need medium-power tackle. It makes sense to choose a relatively universal “stick”, 2.5-2.7 meters long and with a test weight of 15-80 g. Please note that rods of this class are also suitable for catching other large predatory fish - this will reduce the number of rods. As an example of such a multi-purpose fishing rod, you can consider the AVS-105 or Whisker from DAIWA. With such gear, catfish can be caught either with a spinning rod with artificial bait, or with a bottom with bait (live bait, crawlers, crayfish, frog, etc.). It is clear that such a spinning rod will require an appropriate reel: the approximate size of the inertia-free reel is 3500-4500. You can use a baitcasting reel, for example, Penn, Ambassador or Shimano Tecota 500. Considering the situation that you are going directly for catfish, and this mustachioed fish in Three Rivers often reaches a weight of 50-60 kg (by the way, in these places there are cases of catching catfish under 100 kg), a multiplier reel will be preferable, since, with its compact size, it is more powerful and durable than a spinning reel. It is advisable to use 0.24-0.35 mm braided cords as the main fishing line. You can, of course, use 0.4-0.6 monofilament, but this is a last resort. When catching catfish with bottom tackle (cast, elastic, spinning), taking into account the current, you need to use sliding sinkers weighing from 60 to 100 g, very high-quality swivels, fluorocarbon leashes and strong single hooks (preferably forged), for example, from VMC or Owner. You can catch catfish with a spinning rod and with jig equipment. There is still the option of catching catfish in a plumb line; here a short, powerful rod up to 2.1 m long with a cast of 100 g, equipped with a powerful multiplier, is suitable. Artificial baits for catching catfish in deep areas are wobblers of the Storm Deep Thunder type with a length of 12 to 18 cm (immersion depth up to 5.0-9.0 m, floating wobblers MANN'S and Halco with an immersion depth of 7.0-9.0 m. In case of very large depths, you need to have wobblers like MANN'S and RIVER 2 SEA class 30+ in stock. They have a working depth of 10.0-13.0 m and a stable, clear game. When catching catfish on shallow reaches and riffles in the middle of summer, a wobbler is useful Storm Hot'n Tot (by the way, they can catch any predatory Akhtuba fish). When catching catfish with a jig, you will need weight heads weighing from 40 to 80 grams, since fishing is done in holes at great depths and often with a strong current. With a lighter one head, you simply will not feel the wiring and the bait touching the bottom. For jigging, silicone baits (twisters and vibrating tails) or foam fish up to 15 cm long are used. And in case you catch a large specimen, take a hook and a canvas bag with you. Cover the caught catfish with a bag from the head and water it with water - this way the catfish can be transported for a long time and it will behave calmly in the boat.

Fishing for tench in autumn

In winter in Astrakhan you can catch roach, pike perch, pike, bream, large perch - it all depends on skill and luck.

November fishing is a hunt for predatory fish. The weather is conducive to excellent fishing for pike and perch, as well as pike perch. In deep places and in holes you can find bream. In this article we will tell you what fish to catch in November in Astrakhan, and you will also learn about fishing in November for pike, perch and pike perch. Let's share ways to catch bream, crucian carp and roach.

Fishing in Astrakhan in autumn is interesting for tench fishing. This fish is active only in spring and autumn.

Tench is a fish of the carp family. Found mainly in rivers with silted bottoms.

It can reach large sizes, but no more than 30 cm in length. This fish got its name because of its ability to change its color.

In autumn it is found at a depth of up to 2 meters. This fish is very cunning and only a true fisherman can catch it, because... she does not immediately rush to the bait, but first of all savors it for a long time.

All this makes catching tench in autumn an interesting and exciting activity.

So we tried to catch our luck. We fished in a relatively clean area of water not far from our fishing base. We tried different baits, millet porridge turned out to be the best. The bait was a worm.

Come to the River House Fishing Base for your trophies. Take warm clothes with you, and we will be happy to provide the rest.

In the spring, the migration of the roach in the Caspian Sea begins: it will soon begin to spawn, so the fish begins to actively move into the rivers - the Volga, Terek and Ural.

To get a good catch, you need to know the peculiarities of its spring behavior and the sequence of movement:

  1. At the beginning of spring, the fish moves along river beds and can only be found in these places. The peak of the bite will begin a little later, but experienced fishermen prefer to catch roach at this stage, since it is believed that it has the most delicious meat while moving along the riverbed, not far from the surface of the river bottom.
  2. Gradually, large schools emerge from river beds and fill the meadows that were flooded with water at this time. This period can be considered the most favorable for fishing; during it the most active bite is observed.

The maximum weight of the roach is 0.8 kg, and the length is no more than 20; although some individuals grow up to 30 cm and weigh slightly more than the rest of their relatives.

A number of varieties of this breed live in Astrakhan, differing in weight, size, appearance and places where they can be found:

  1. The “local” species lives only in the waters of the Volga, while it stays in the river throughout the entire season and does not swim into the Caspian Sea.
  2. The Caspian variety differs from other species in its larger size; it is the main prey for local residents of the Caspian seaside, including the villages of Tishkovo or Vyshka. Only isolated individuals swim closer to the city; it is virtually impossible to catch one here.
  3. The “speckled” variety is an individual specimen characterized by its large size; You can catch them only during the beginning of spawning. One of the distinctive features of such fish is the eggs, which adhere in large quantities to the scales.
  4. The “rolling” variety are marine fish that swim out of the sea in the spring and rush to the nearest rivers. They stay in their waters throughout the spawning period, and after its completion they return to their native places in the Caspian Sea.

For spring roach fishing in Astrakhan, two types of gear are used:

  1. Donka.
  2. An ordinary float rod.

Regardless of the type of tackle chosen, it will need to be prepared in a special way, and the success of fishing will also depend on the correct time and place of fishing.

Bottom tackle for catching roach in spring

The donka is the most preferable option for novice fishermen, since when using it, preliminary preparation of the gear can be eliminated.

The equipment is quite simple and includes:

  1. Monoline with a diameter of no more than 0.2 mm.
  2. Hooks No. 4-5 according to the domestic classification, quantity - 4 pieces.
  3. A load with an average weight of 100 g.

Some fishermen use feeder gear, the test value of which does not exceed 60 g. His equipment looks the same, but a feeder is added to it. This option will be effective if fishing takes place during a period with active biting, which allows you to make long casts: the prey immediately begins to attack the hook with bait, before it has yet reached the bottom surface.

Float tackle for catching roach in spring

Float tackle is effective during floods and when fishing in river areas with rapid currents.

The length of the fishing rod must be at least 6 meters; the equipment of the fishing rod includes:

  1. Line thickness from 0.18 to 0.2 mm.
  2. Any float model that can work with a sinker weighing 3-4 g.
  3. Hook No. 4-6 according to the domestic classification, depending on what type of roach will be caught.

For fishing, it is recommended to organize a blind rig for a float rod; it will look like this:

  1. Initially, a loop is knitted at the end of the working line; it is necessary for fastening to the connector or rope located at the end of the tackle.
  2. The fishing line is cut after selecting the required length, to which an additional 50 cm must be added.
  3. The float is installed and the cambrics are put on.
  4. It is better to install sinkers directly at the fishing spot in order to correctly determine the depth. Only the antenna should be above the surface of the water, and the body of the float itself should be submerged. It is better to use about 2-3 pellets, with one sinker placed as close as possible to the float so that it serves as a backup.
  5. After determining the location of the sinkers, they will need to be crimped, and the fishing line above them will need to be flattened using pliers. After this, the sinkers are manually moved up to the undamaged section of the fishing line; The extra 50 cm of cord remaining below is simply cut off.
  6. When preparing the equipment, you should make sure that the position of the weights has been chosen correctly: the pellet should be at a distance of 10 to 25 cm from the float, a distance of 20 cm is maintained between it and the second weight. The third pellet is placed exactly 60 cm from the pod. In this case, it is always possible to shift the second sinker and position it closer to the sub-groove; such changes in equipment are sometimes necessary when fishing in conditions of increased windiness.
  7. At the end of the working line you need to organize a small loop, which can be useful for installing a float using the “loop-to-loop” technique.

Spring roach fishing in Astrakhan is very popular not only among local residents; during this part of the season, many fishermen from other regions come here and real tournaments and competitions are organized. Every person is interested in the secret of the most effective bait, but there is no universal option that would be equally catchy every year.

When fishing with feeder gear, their feeders can be filled with the following baits:

  1. Various types of porridges. Only their consistency matters; it is determined individually depending on the fishing conditions.
  2. A mixture of bloodworms and maggots.
  3. Earthworms and dungworms, which are pre-finely chopped.
  4. Sunflower cake.

Bait for catching roach in spring

Typically, roach prefers the same bait as roach, so you can use your experience in catching this fish. There are no universal recipes, so it is recommended to experiment with different options to determine the most effective baits.

Local fishermen usually use the following species:

  1. Earthworms and dungworms are the most common variant that often attracts roach.
  2. Maggot.
  3. Tails from small twisters are the most popular artificial bait, which roach is often confused with a worm.
  4. Canned corn grains are rarely used as independent bait; a combination with worms or maggots is more common.
  5. Shrimp pieces.

The roach's only habitat is the Caspian Sea basin; with the onset of spring, it returns to its birthplace - the Volga and other nearby rivers - to lay eggs.

You can count on a good catch in the following places:

  1. Volga and other rivers flowing into the Caspian Sea. In these places, fish are caught for consumption, since they will have the most delicious meat. However, it is necessary to catch the beginning of its migration, and also take into account that the prey moves exclusively against the current.
  2. Tributaries of the Volga. Here the fish appear a little later, when most of the schools have already managed to leave the sea.
  3. Flooded meadows and fields. In these places there is usually an active bite, but fishing is carried out for the most part only for the sake of recreation and sporting interest.

To successfully catch the Astrakhan roach, it is necessary to correctly determine the moment of its movement into the rivers; theoretically, it can occur from the end of February to the beginning of April, depending on the temperature and weather conditions in the current year. Usually the ice lasts until mid-March, so the main migration begins during this period, and the bite reaches its peak closer to the first days of April.

In April, the roach is very active and attacks virtually any type of plant and animal bait, but it should be remembered that it is during this month that the ban on catching it is also in force.

It should also be taken into account that mining has two peaks of activity:

  1. In early April, the water in the rivers has not yet warmed up enough, and the prey tries to move, being near the bottom surface. During this period, it is more convenient to catch it with spinning rods or donks.
  2. In the last days of April or early May, the water warms up sufficiently if the air temperature reaches 25°C. The fish go to spawn and can be caught in all rivers and adjacent reservoirs.

April roach fishing is distinguished by its ease due to the large amount of prey and the glutton that begins before spawning. For these reasons, fish actively bite on virtually any bait and bait, and fishermen are given real freedom: they can use float rods, donks, feeder gear or spinning rods.

The most popular bait at this time of year is red worms; you can buy them at virtually any city market.

It is important to remember that in April bans on roach fishing begin to apply due to the approaching spawning season. It is recommended to find out the current dates for the selected fishing location in advance, so as not to encounter unforeseen problems and troubles during fishing.

In general, for all baits the rule is simple - the larger the bait, the larger the fish, but the less often it is caught.

In the warm months of spring, autumn and summer, different types of gear are selected for fishing. Professional fishermen at these times of the year use:

  • Spinning. It is great for fishing different types of fish. If you plan to catch small fish, you should give preference to light tackle; if you plan to catch large fish, use heavy tackle. But in any case, the rod of the chosen spinning rod should bend well. This is necessary so that the fisherman can easily throw gear into the water over a long distance and reel in his catch. Wobblers and spinners are chosen as attachments for spinning.
  • Float rod. A classic version of a summer fishing rod. When choosing it, you need to take into account the following points - its flexibility, length. This determines how far you can throw the tackle and the ease of its use.
  • Donka. This type of gear allows you to catch large fish from the shore. In addition, bottom fishing is effective at any time of the day. Fish actively bite on it both day and night. When choosing a donkey, you need to pay attention to its parameters. When fishing on a river, the length of the rod should be up to 3 m, and the length of the fishing line up to 40 m. Such dimensions of the tackle will allow you to catch fish even in wide rivers.
  • Feeder rod. It is even suitable for fishing in rivers with strong currents.

Winter fishing in Astrakhan, if well prepared for it, will bring a considerable catch. In cold weather you can catch bream, pike, and pike perch here. What should you take on a fishing trip in the cold to come back with a catch?

It is unlikely that you will go on a hike for one day, because fishing in Astrakhan is a real journey. Therefore, you need to take care of how to preserve your catch. But there is only one way out: the fish needs to be salted in large plastic containers or in aluminum containers. Containers must have a lid on which cargo can be placed on top.

Salted fish may also go missing. To prevent this from happening, you will have to dig a hole into which containers with fish will need to be lowered. The pits must have a lid. Usually the lids are made of wood.

If you go fishing in the Astrakhan region as a wild person, then be prepared for the fact that there will be problems with drinking water. There are no such problems at fishing bases. Before your trip, research places where you can stock up on drinking water. Please take large containers with you.

  • sunglasses;
  • photo, video camera;
  • headlamp, batteries;
  • car charger for mobile phone;
  • watch;
  • alcohol, cigarettes;
  • cotton gloves - for fires and barbecues;
  • medical gloves - for salting fish;
  • robe, apron (for salting fish);
  • wire (to hang fish for drying or to protect the camp from uninvited guests).

Don’t forget your camera to capture not only the beauty of these places, but also your catch. What if you are lucky enough to catch a trophy catfish weighing several tens of kilograms?

Tackle for catching pike perch

Large pike perch in Trekhrechye prefers deep-water areas on the current and loves the unevenness of the bottom and

snag Therefore, it is necessary to select the appropriate gear. For example, to catch pike perch with a jig, you need a fast action stick 2.7-3.0 m long with a dough of 15-40 or 20-50 g. The suitable weight of jig heads for catching pike perch on riverbed edges and dumps is from 35 to 50 g. taking into account the current. It is better to choose a braided fishing line with a diameter of 0.12-0.18 mm, while it is useful to use a colored cord for better visibility and control over the depth of the bait. Reels are suitable for the 3000-3500 series, for example, made by Shimano or Daiwa. With such gear, if anything, you can safely compete with an accidental bycatch in the form of catfish weighing 8-15 kg. Foam rubber fish of bright colors with a head weight of 15 to 40 g, vibrotails and twisters equipped with doubles or tees are used as bait for pike perch on Akhtuba. The color of rubber is preferably green and fluorescent green. Orange and yellow colors also work well. In snaggy places, it is better to fish with foam rubber with hooks pressed tightly to the body or with twisters on an offset hook with the sting recessed into the body. They also use deep-sea wobblers like Deep Runner in bright colors and vertical spinners like Pilker. Sometimes rotating spoons with a core weight or a head weight are used. Often, pike perch reacts to the vertical play of the bait. In addition, pike perch has a very hard mouth, so when biting it easily breaks through the silicone, exposing the hook tip, but the hook must be appropriate. In addition to spinning and trolling, pike perch on Akhtuba are often caught using bottom gear or a live bait fishing rod - small fish such as roach, bleak, and juvenile crucian carp.

Seasonal features

The Astrakhan region stretches along the Volga coast for four hundred kilometers, and Astrakhan for 45 km. At this point Europe borders Asia.

The landscape is predominantly flat. The regional center is located on the low-lying, island territory of the Caspian Sea.

The climate is sharply continental, which causes strong temperature fluctuations over 12 months. The seasons do not correspond to calendar dates, so winter lasts until about mid-March, after which it rapidly warms up for a month and a half, and by the second ten days of May, completely summer weather sets in.

The average temperature in March is 2 degrees, in April the air warms up to 11 degrees, in May to almost 18 degrees. In spring it is usually warm and there is almost no rain, but it can get sharply cold due to cold air currents coming from the north.

It is recommended to familiarize yourself with and take into account the following features of April roach fishing in Astrakhan:

  1. Roach is a schooling fish, so the bite can decrease or become active depending on the passage of the school along a certain section of the river. If there are no bites for a long time, you should try changing the bait.
  2. The bite begins at sunrise and continues until dusk; in the dark, the roach is passive and does not respond to bait.
  3. Many local fishermen prefer to fish in shallow waters. In these areas, more prey is found, but the risk of fishing line snags also increases.
  4. The average weight of the Astrakhan roach varies from 200 to 500 grams. With frequent lifting of the tackle, the likelihood of bites from the silver bream increases.
  5. You can fish with several bottom gear at once, but their number should be no more than two, since even in this case the fisherman will actually have no time to rest.
  6. When spending the night on the shore, you should not forget about the April frosts that are typical for this region, so it is recommended to have appropriate equipment with you.

This breed has one interesting feature: when the mass movement begins, the body of the fish begins to warm up. After fishing for the first prey, you should hold the fish in your hands to determine its temperature and understand whether it was an individual or a whole school passing through the river section. In a similar way, local residents make forecasts regarding the expected bite.

There is an opinion that in the Astrakhan region you can fish and, most importantly, catch fish at any time of the year. This statement is partly true. With the right approach and selection of gear, fishing here is rarely unsuccessful. But you still need to understand which fish bite better at which time of year.

Autumn fishing

Tackle for asp fishing

Considering that the asp, the only pronounced predator from the carp family, is one of the most cautious, but at the same time very strong fish, to hunt for it you will need gear with the ability to cast as far as possible, but at the same time with a small bait (the asp has a small mouth and its prey consists of fry and juvenile fish of elongated shape). You need to choose a long spinning rod. A rod with a length of 3.0 to 3.4 meters is suitable. The desired action is medium or medium-fast with a dough from 10 to 40 g. You can throw such a stick over a long distance

and a light wobbler, and a Kastmaster-type spinner weighing 20-30 grams. It is better to use a 0.12 mm braided cord, but you can also use a regular 0.20-0.22 mm monofilament line (by the way, it is less alarming to the asp). If you don’t forget to adjust the clutch correctly, even with monofilament fishing line you can “lift” a handsome fish weighing 5-7 kg. Choose a spinning reel, series 3000-3500, for example, Daiwa and Shimano. It is better to take the gear ratio of a reel for asp fishing higher, because... sometimes he prefers ultra-fast retrieval of the bait. For bait, a Kastmaster type spinner weighing from 12 to 30 grams is suitable. with the cut colored orange or with a blue stripe. You can also use jigs, spinners with a weighted core (Aglia Long, Blue Fox, Myran (No. 1-4) and small driven heavy spoons (Koster, “Atom”, “Storling”). Suitable floating wobblers measuring 6-9 cm. When fishing in asp pots, surface wobblers (poppers, walkers and jerk baits) work well.

Pike fishing gear

Pike is most often caught not on the main channel of the Akhtuba, but in eriks, oxbow lakes, flooded lakes near snags and water thickets - the predator’s anchorage areas. For catching pike with a spinning rod, a rod 2.6-2.8 meters long with a cast of 10-30 grams is suitable; the action should be medium-fast, since in this case you can fish with both jigs and wobblers. Take a spinning reel, series 3000. A metal leash is required when fishing for pike, since in the Lower Volga it is “very angry” and often takes the bait “by mouth”, so without a leash you can quickly lose your stock

expensive wobblers and spinners. It is advisable to use a braided fishing line with a diameter of up to 0.11-0.12 mm, with this you can safely speed up the fishing of the pike, moving it away from snags and grass, into which it will rush at the first moment after hooking. As artificial baits for pike, you can use wobblers with a depth of up to 3 m (Fat, Minnow, Shad) and a length of up to 15 cm. Please note that both large and small pike will take small baits, and only large ones will take large baits. but this is also not a dogma. In heavily overgrown reservoirs, you can use poppers and spinnerbaits. It is advisable to have some of the spinners in

non-snacking equipment (Rapala Minnow Spoon or converted Mepps and Daiwa spinners). Homemade non-hook fishing gear, including foam fish, is a prime example when homemade fishing gear gives noticeable results when fishing in the grass. Large spinners Blue Fox, Merrs (No. 4, No. 6), large but light ones (fishing usually takes place at shallow depths), oscillating spoons Kuuasamo, ABU, domestic “Storling”, “Norich” or similar are also suitable. In spring and autumn, pike are often caught using deep-sea jigs, using the same baits as pike perch. In this case, large

pike takes silicone or a wobbler at depths of 4-6 m in bottom gutters and channel holes. Pike fishing with live bait (donks, girders, mugs, float tackle) is very common; it also takes well when fishing from ice.

Bases for catching carp on the Volga, Akhtuba and Astrakhan

Akhtuba is a river, the basin of the Lower Volga in the delta.
Akhtuba is famous for its clear running water, silt-clay soil at the bottom, steep waterfalls and sharp turns. Such conditions are ideal for the life of carp. When planning to catch carp and other types of fish on the Volga, pay attention to the large number of camp sites that are located right next to the shore. At the carp fishing points you can settle down with the whole family, with friends, or even alone.

You can choose any type of fishing, and if necessary, get help from qualified instructors. At fishing bases, highly active complementary feeding of carp is practiced, in those points that are designed for coastal fishing. Fishing points combine good bite and ease of fishing. The fishing bases provide all the conditions to make fishing comfortable, successful and enjoyable. This is the time when you can relax and catch carp.

Fishing enthusiasts from all over the country flock to the Astrakhan region every season. It remains popular due to its rich catches, stunning natural landscapes, friendliness of regional residents and the quality of service at the tourist centers. Local tourist centers attract people with the opportunity to combine different types of fishing and spearfishing.

In summer, carp bite best on young steamed potatoes and peas. Bread crusts, dough, balls with sunflower cake, corn are also good baits. In spring and autumn, bait of animal origin is better: worms, maggots, barley shell meat.

Below is a universal recipe based on herbal ingredients.

Recipe

  1. (dry composition of bait for carp and carp) ground oatmeal cookies - 1 kg;
  2. crushed baked milk cookies - 0.5 kg;
  3. ground roasted peanuts - 0.5 kg; wheat breadcrumbs - 1 kg;
  4. corn grits - 1.5 kg;
  5. corn flour - 1 kg;
  6. mixture of crushed flakes (oatmeal, corn, wheat) - 1 kg.

The complementary food must contain an element that will subsequently be used for fishing!

Success in winter fishing on the Volga is determined by the fisherman’s mobility and skills in finding successful fishing spots.

When choosing a location, pay attention to river bends and deep areas.

But even at the most convenient place, if there is no bite, there is no point in stopping for more than 5-10 minutes. You can study a small space under the ice with bait and quickly determine whether it makes sense to wait for a bite.

In winter, you need to drill dozens of holes and travel several kilometers before you find the carp. Carp is inactive in winter; if the bait is far from it, the fish may neglect it.

Choice of bait. In winter, bait of animal origin is preferable; a regular worm or shrimp works well. You can also use fresh lard soaked in water.

Baiting carp in winter is done in small portions. The bait should consist of 90% inedible filler (sand, clay).

Tackle for catching carp

Carp has always been a highly respected trophy for fishing fans, and given that on Akhtuba in Three Rivers carp quite often reach a weight of 10-12 kg, the difficulty of catching it lies only in the fact that it is not only a very strong and large fish, but it is also quite cautious and, in a sense, also “smart.” Fishing even 2-3 kilogram carp

will give you an unforgettable experience, let alone trophy specimens weighing 10 kg. Accordingly, the tackle for catching carp should be as durable, high-quality as possible and, at the same time, light and inconspicuous. To catch carp, it is better to use special “carp” rods, as well as “carp” reels and sensitive bite alarms. The main gear for targeted fishing for large carp on Akhtuba is a feeder. As an option, instead of a special long feeder rod with dough up to 100 g. You can use a heavy spinning rod with dough up to 80 g. length 3.0-3.2 m. The reel must be of high quality, for example, Shimano with the Bait Runner system (with additional clutch) series 6000-10000, or Daiwa series 4000-5000. Monofil 0.20-0.28 or braided cord 0.18-0.24 mm is used as the main fishing line. Monoline is better

absorbs the insanely sharp jerks of the carp at the beginning, but the braided line will allow you to save the entire length reserve in case of snagging on snags (only the equipment from the fishing line with the feeder with hooks comes off). Feeders for such gear are selected depending on the fishing conditions and can be additionally loaded up to 100 grams, and hooks should be taken of the highest quality, size about No. 22 (according to the Russian classification) and depending on the bait. Depending on the season (spring and autumn - animals, summer - plants), nozzles are selected and combined experimentally. “Wild” carp is not accustomed to certain baits, so it is not easy to please it at a particular moment. The main baits are worms, insect larvae, shell meat (barley), steamed or canned corn, peas, mastyrka, dough, makukha, etc. In summer for fishing

For carp, you can use boilies (you need to bring a supply of them, like worms, with you to the base) - in the summer of 2013, red and yellow boilies with the smell of fruit and vanilla worked well. When fishing for carp, you definitely need to feed and stabilize the fishing spot - don’t forget to stock up on bait. When fishing from a boat, use rods 2.0 -2.5 m with a test weight of up to 100 - 120 g made of carbon fiber, composite or fiberglass, depending on financial capabilities. And of course, you will need a reliable, spacious landing net. Tackle for catching perch Well, what kind of “correct” fishing can there be without perch? And if you add to the perch ear the pleasure that you can get by dragging a large perch on

lightweight, ultra-light spinning rod - emotions and pleasant memories will remain in the memory for a long time.

To catch perch with a spinning rod, you will need a Light or Ultralight class rod with a test weight of 3-20 g and a length of up to 2.7 meters. Reel series 2500-3000 with monofilament line 0.16-0.18 or braided 0.11 mm. Note that monofilament fishing line better absorbs the jerks of a perch, which has very weak lips - this reduces the number of breakdowns. Small wobblers with high-frequency play and rattles are used as bait for catching perch. This type includes Rattlin from Rapala and Diving Chubby from Jackall Bros. In still water on ilmen and oxbow lakes, it is good to catch perch using poppers (surface wobblers), as well as spinnerbaits. Beginner fishermen can be advised to fish with small rotating spoons (Blue Fox, Muran, Merrs No. 1-3). Microjig gear is also very popular: small twisters and vibrotails with a head weight of 3-10 g. The color of the baits in this case does not play a special role, since the perch on Akhtuba and in Trekhrechye, in particular, is practically omnivorous and is not spoiled by the attention of anglers.

How to choose the time to travel?

The rivers in the Astrakhan region will delight you with the largest catch in the autumn months. It is not for nothing that the period from October to November is considered the most productive. During the season, the fish bite almost uninterruptedly. Short breaks are possible only during sudden changes in atmospheric pressure. The closer frosts and cold winds are, the lower the activity of carp and catfish.

It is extremely difficult to name a specific time for the best bite when it comes to autumn. In general, the success of fishing is directly related to the skills and patience of the fisherman. The key to a successful entry is the use of competent tactics, the availability of the necessary bait and complementary food, as well as the correct choice of gear.

In order not to make a mistake, you should find out at least basic information about the options provided:

  • Artificial bait. Today the market offers an incredible range of artificial baits. It is so large that it is almost impossible to test everything proposed - it will take years. Still, among the baits for catching predators, experts highlight wobblers, heavy spoons (for vertical fishing and currents), and jig heads (on foam rubber or silicone). Also in specialized stores you can find Devon and Popper - faithful assistants for every fisherman on Akhtuba. It is important to consider that the size, shape, and color of the bait play a huge role. They can directly influence the bite of fish, whose taste preferences vary depending on the season. A good example: in the spring months, pike perch willingly bites on small wobblers with a depth of 2-4 meters, and in the fall it can only be caught with a large bait with a depth of 4-7 m. In this regard, it is worth taking at least 3-4 different ones for fishing type of bait to have a backup option.
  • Complementary food and bait are simply indispensable for catching peaceful fish. A universal bait for all times is a worm and canned corn. To replenish your trophy collection with larger fish (bream, carp), try “shell” (cake or pearl barley). Fry are widely used as bait for predatory river inhabitants, and catfish often bite on “live bait” (crucian carp and perch, frog, crayfish are suitable). To effectively hunt carp, it is better to arm yourself with boilies, not forgetting to also use natural complementary foods. You can add to it the same ingredients that are used as bait.

Fishing on the track (trolling)

This method of fishing, which has long been very popular, has many advantages, since it allows you to fish large sections of the riverbed in a relatively short time. Almost all types of predatory fish are caught in this way, including pike perch, pike, catfish, asp, bass and perch. Trolling gear for catching pike perch and catfish is practically the same, and recommendations for choosing a spinning rod, reels, fishing line and artificial bait will be similar. It is worthwhile to dwell in more detail on the choice of sizes and colors of wobblers for trolling. As a rule, in the Lower Volga and, in particular, on Akhtuba in the spring, wobblers with natural colors that imitate juvenile carp fish (dark back, white belly and silvery sides) work well. In summer, it is better to use wobblers of various green shades. For example, the colors that have worked well are: plain green and green with transverse stripes (resembling a perch). The Red Head coloring (light body with a red head) is also relevant - in the summer pike and pike perch consistently bite on it.

If targeted fishing for trophy pike perch is intended, it is better to use very deep wobblers of a sufficiently large size, for example, 12-15 centimeters. Small pike perch will not attack such baits, but the likelihood of a bite from a large pike perch (5-8 kg) increases. Large pike perch are caught at great depths (8-15 m), so wobblers like MANN'S Magnum Stretch 30+ or RIVER2SEA downsider minnow 200f can be useful. But don’t forget about small elongated baits. In general, all predators and all sizes take advantage of them.

What to take with you on a fishing trip

When going fishing in Astrakhan, you need to take care of the proper organization of life in the fishing camp.
To do this, you should make a list of things you need to take with you in advance. But the list should be divided into categories. Otherwise, you are sure to forget something. We start collecting with... documents. Surprisingly, you need to take your passport with you when going fishing - you may be asked to present it. If you are driving, then, naturally, you need a driver's license.

  1. Fisherman's suit, raincoat.
  2. Seasonal clothing.
  3. Rubber boots.
  4. Sneakers, replacement shoes (slippers, flip-flops).
  5. Warm socks.
  6. Mosquito hat, Panama hat or baseball cap. In summer, as a rule, there should be two hats.

Tackle for catching white fish (beli)

Peaceful fish, such as roach, roach, bream, rudd, crucian carp, buffalo, tench, etc., can be successfully caught in the Lower Volga and Akhtuba in Three Rivers

both with bottom tackle and with a float rod from the shore or from a boat. As for the types of fishing rods, several options are possible: for fishing from the shore with a fishing rod with a blind rig (Bolognese tackle), take with you a carbon fiber telescopic rod up to 5-7 m long. It is better to use a fishing line no thinner than 0.16 mm, because when feeding in some places (under steep yars and next to snags), there is a high probability of biting a carp weighing up to 2-3 kg or a chub weighing up to 2 kg. Fishing for such a trophy with a light rod will give you a lot of thrills.

As a bottom tackle, you can use a bottom with a rubber shock absorber and a feeder or feeder. Suitable baits include canned corn and green peas, but in any case the worm will be out of competition. In Trekhrechye, almost all fish are caught with a worm, including roach, crucian carp, bream and almost at any time of the year, just make sure to get a worm in advance and bring it with you - in these places it is very difficult to use a worm (how to save a worm for fishing). This article, of course, is not an untouchable guide to fishing on Akhtuba. Each of us, who has been involved in fishing more or less seriously at least once in our lives, has our own specific experience and beliefs, confirmed by this experience. So experiment, don’t be afraid to make mistakes - only those who do nothing don’t make them! The abundance and species diversity of river fish, coupled with the unique topography and climate in Three Rivers, create a real laboratory even for a professional fisherman. Let's take an example of a story that happened in July 2013: one of the guests of the Trekhrechye fishing base (it should be noted that he was very young), defying all the rules of summer fishing for pike perch, spent a week catching it from a boat in the pits using a heavy jig with silicone... Result: a good catch, including several pike perch weighing up to 2-4 kg.

Don’t try to take all types of fishing gear for all fishing methods at once - focus on one or two main methods, in this case the result will always be positive. So learn the theory, get into practice, and trust your inner voice of common sense. No tail, no scales!

Tackle for winter fishing

Truly effective fishing in the Astrakhan region requires careful preparation. First of all, you need to take into account the time of year, weather conditions, and decide on the desired type of trophy. Experienced fishing enthusiasts note the following areas with a “guaranteed” catch:

  • Akhtuba (Akhtubinsky);
  • Kharabalinsky;
  • Narimanovsky;
  • Enotaevsky.

Strela Enotaevka and Volga, located 16.5 km west of the village. Zavolzhskoe. This place looks promising: impressive depths are adjacent to numerous underwater spits. Here, if you wish, you can make money not only with large pike perch, but also with hefty catfish. Just above it on the river there is a huge spit. Its northern shore is an excellent trolling area.

If you follow the Volga downstream approximately 7000 m to Seroglazka, and then approach a sandy island in the middle of the river, you will find another spit with depths of 1-3 m. It is here that asp graze for a record long time, and on the very spurs of the spit - incredible a concentration of hungry perch.

Let's move on to the right branch of the river, located opposite the sandy island. Here the current is faster and more dangerous, and a little further the spit completely falls into a hole. When the weather is mild and calm, changes in local depths are noticeable even on the surface: they can be distinguished by the water “funnels” that form. The local edges are places where hordes of pike perch, catfish, and pike gather.

Over the course of many decades, the left bank was intensively washed away by the current, resulting in the formation of a hole 26 m deep (outwardly it looks like a trough). The half-kilometer climb from it ends at a three-meter depth at the island itself. This is how you will stumble upon impressive “flocks” of predatory species. The easiest way to catch them is by trolling.

Going downstream behind the island, you can find two areas with underwater spits. The bottom there is very wavy, creating a kind of “shelter” for local predators. This area is very generous for perch and asp, and on particularly lucky days you can even catch pike perch.

If you are really planning a successful approach, listen to the advice of experienced ones - take an echo sounder with you. It doesn’t have to be the most modern - the simplest, two-beam one is enough. From him you will need data on the bottom topography and depth.

When going to the Lower Volga, it is extremely important to arm yourself with gear for different fishing methods (for example, jig-spinning, trolling). An experienced fisherman knows how important it is to have a backup option when the fish simply refuses to be hooked.

When visiting Astrakhan during the changing seasons, you need to take winter gear with you on your trip. Fishing on the first or last ice is usually much more fun and productive than in open water.

Are you afraid that you will miss the desired trophy? This will not happen if you have the obligatory attributes of a fisherman with you - a folding landing net and a hook. When hunting for large fish, make sure you have protective gloves and a boat hook in your boat. This way, you will protect yourself from serious injury when trying to catch a fish with your bare hands.

You can’t do without devices that seem trivial at first glance. Make sure you have winding rings, carabiners, and swivels. To quickly find everything you need, it is worth purchasing a special box for storing and transporting consumables, bait, and tackle. As practice shows, the absence of such a “suitcase” results in a slow but sure loss of numerous gear. It definitely wouldn’t be superfluous to have a detachment when fishing to save wobblers and spoons from getting stuck in snags.

Successful fishing in Astrakhan does not require expensive, modern equipment. On the contrary, the ability to competently use simple devices plays a much greater role. Even the coolest fishing rod in the hands of a beginner is nothing compared to the standard fishing arsenal of an experienced fisherman.

In winter in Astrakhan you can catch roach, pike perch, pike, bream, large perch - it all depends on skill and luck.

It is recommended to take with you the following gear: - A fishing rod that is suitable in shape and weight: for large fish - more durable, for small fish - lighter. It is also desirable to be long enough to make it more comfortable to hold, even if your hands are in mittens (which is a common thing in winter), although it is more convenient to catch perch with a mini-fishing rod.

— A whip for a winter fishing rod to make it easier to hook and land fish. The length of the whip can be from 13 cm to 70 cm and is selected in accordance with the fishing method. — The nod for fishing with a jig is the most sensitive element of a winter fishing rod. It is advisable to take several different nods with you on a fishing trip, “with a reserve”.

— Fishing line, it also requires an “individual approach” — taking into account weather conditions. The thickness can be much thinner than on a summer fishing rod. Be sure to choose a fishing line from a well-established manufacturer. - It is best to buy reels in a set. Preferably, inertia-free, of minimal size.
