Where to go fishing in the Ivanovo region

Reservoirs of the region

Fishing in the Ivanovo region
The Ivanovo region is rich in a large number of reservoirs. There are about 2000 rivers here. The largest are the Volga and Klyazma. In addition to large ones, there are also many small rivers where good fish are found and winter fishing can be arranged. The left tributaries of the Volga - Unzha and Mera - are considered deep, while the right tributaries are shallower. For fishermen, the tributaries of the Klyazma - the Nerl and the Uvod - are of greatest interest. There are also lakes in the region. The reservoirs are home to pike perch, catfish, crucian carp, carp, roach, perch, asp, silver bream and other types of fish throughout the season. Bream is the most popular fish caught in Klzyama.

The lakes of the Ivanovo region are almost 200 natural reservoirs of floodplain, glacial and karst origin. The largest lake is Rubskoye, a natural reservoir of glacial origin. The area of the lake is 297 hectares. Currently almost completely overgrown. The water has increased mineralization, but six species of fish are found in it, mainly crucian carp and roach. The second largest is Lake Svyatoe. Its area is almost 278 hectares. The lake is closely adjacent to swamps, but fish are found in large quantities. Fishing on Lake Svyatoye includes pike, burbot, silver carp, ruffe, crucian carp, and roach. ide, hive and many other types of fish ready to fall into the ear. The third place is occupied by Lake Lamenskoye or Bogoyavlenskoye, its area is 119 hectares. But it is not very popular among fishermen. They are more attracted to Lake Zaborye. It is rich in fish and a good catch is always guaranteed. The smallest lake, unsuitable for swimming, is Yurtsino. However, there is fish in it, which attracts fishing fans here. The remaining lakes are small, but fishy. Each has its fans. Access is restricted only to Lake Shadrino. Previously, on its territory there was a summer cottage for employees of the regional administration. The ban is still in effect.

Fishing on Klyazma

Local fishermen know several excellent ways to catch bream. They choose a deep place on the river with a calm current, feed them with balls of bait with several maggots. First, as the bait sinks to the bottom, it forms a cloud, which attracts bait. Maggot is also used for fishing with a spinning rod or fishing rod. It is important to use a thin fishing line; the fish comes very carefully to the feeding site, so coarse tackle can easily scare it away. Fishermen also make bait on breadcrumbs with the addition of rolled oats, anise and vanilla. The worm can be used to catch white bream, ruffes and minnows.

Fishing on Unzha

Although this river does not have the most favorable conditions, especially for beginners, still, if you try and prepare well, you can expect a very good catch. There are also medium-sized perches, pike, and if you're lucky, you can catch catfish. By winter, burbot appears, and there is also a large abundance of ruffs. Experienced fishermen advise choosing places for fishing where the river changes its topography, thus forming holes in the riverbed. The current here is calmer, that is, all favorable conditions have been created for the use of bait for bream. The bait can be very different - dough, worms, it can be either independent or combined. As soon as you feel a bite, immediately raise the fish to the surface, otherwise it will begin to walk in circles and scare the entire flock. If you are fishing from a boat, the place to cast your fishing rod should be at least two meters from it.

Fishing on Lake Rubskoye

Lake Rubskoye, Ivanovo Region
Since it especially attracts vacationers in the warm season, the best time for fishing is autumn and winter. Almost throughout the entire lake there are perch, roach, and, if you’re lucky, pike. By the way, there are so many fish in the lake that in the summer they can even swim up to vacationers in schools.

Local fishermen especially look forward to winter for their fishing. In cold weather, the fish are especially hungry, so it is almost impossible to return home without a catch at this time.

Fishing in peat quarries

Fishing in peat quarries in the Ivanovo region is a very popular activity. These quarries are mainly located in the Komsomolsky and Teykovsky districts. They were formed as a result of trade developments. Peat was extracted as fuel for the Komsomolsk thermal power plant. But the station had long been switched to gas and the developments were abandoned.

The quarries near the village of Shchukino, Komsomolsky district, are famous for their crucian carp and pike; many fishermen from Ivanovo love to visit these places. Large crucian carp are caught there and bite actively. There are also stocked quarries where you can fish for carp for a fee.

In the Teykovsky district there are also a large number of peat quarries located in the area of various villages. The quarries are also named after these villages. The quarries are divided into pike, crucian and roach, in accordance with this division, they mainly catch crucian carp in some, pike in others, roach and perch in others. So in the area of the village of Leushino and the village of Sidorino, crucian carp are mainly caught. If you drive to the village of Sidorino, you can get to the quarries where you mainly catch pike and large rotan. There are also crucian carp that are quite large. Apparently the pike thins out its ranks well, so that the most active individuals survive and grow to impressive sizes. The village of Meleshevo also has several quarries, in the largest of which is called Razlivami, mainly roach, large rotan and small perch are caught, and sometimes very large crucian carp weighing up to a kilogram is caught. In other quarries, crucian carp and rotan predominate.

Fishing on the picturesque Nerl River, which flows into the Klyazma, is also popular. In shallow water, roach, perch, and bream bite well there. Where there are holes near steep banks, you can catch large bream using the bottom and feeder. Local fishermen who know the river well hunt for chub and pike perch; there is also a lot of pike in the river, which they catch with mugs and slingshots using live bait.

Fishing on the Klyazma River

The Klyazma River is famous for its abundance of bream, minnows and ruff. You need to choose a place very carefully. Bream can only be caught in deep holes with a calm current. Bait is of great importance for a good bite. There are several basic recipes. Some fishermen use rolled oats with the addition of vanilla. Others prefer to mix crackers, anise and water . However, both of them add maggots to the plant bait. They say that fish bite best when combining several types of food.

On Klyazma, bream is most often caught in the retrieve. It is best to start fishing at 3-4 o'clock in the morning. At this time the bream is most active. Earthworms are used as bait on the hook. However, this bait often attracts ruffs. They say that if you choose the right place, you can catch from 3 to 5 kilograms of fish in a few hours.

Fishing Features

Peculiarities of fishing in the Ivanovo region
The largest and probably the most fishy reservoir in the region is the Uvod Reservoir. This huge reservoir is home to pike, roach, ide, perch and many other types of fish found in the Ivanovo region. You can fish in the Uvodi area all year round, even winter fishing here is very successful. A huge number of pike, they are caught with wobblers, oscillating spoons, spinners and live bait - impressive. Any live bait is suitable, from classic crucian carp to roach and bleak, since this fish has acquired a large population here. Consequently, the predator will not mind easy prey when searching for food in the face of such competition. Of course, such a quantity of fish also attracts poachers who fish with nets and electric fishing rods, which significantly reduces the number of fish, since both fry and eggs die from them. In addition to spinning, it would be nice to take a regular fishing rod with you. The Uvod Reservoir will greet you with a rich variety of inhabitants. You will be able to see bites of roach, perch, rudd, and bream. This is an exciting activity, and with a good bite, which is almost always present here, you can give yourself an unforgettable fishing experience. Fishing spots are scattered along all banks of the reservoir - you can fish from the shore or from a boat.

A good fishing place can be found in the village of Kitovo, Shuisky district. The Kitovskoe “reservoir” is famous for its crucian carp, carp and bream. When choosing this reservoir, you should take a long rod, since the shore closest to the central route is quite low and the shoal stretches 6-8 meters from it. If you came with small gear, then the opposite, steeper bank will do. This is a great place for fishing from a boat, as the shore is often crowded with fishermen and swimmers. In addition, as you know, a boat provides more opportunities for fishing in hard-to-reach places.

There are still fishing spots in stagnant bodies of water, since waste from factories and factories is not dumped into them. You can fish on the “Holy Lake” in the Rodnikovsky district. From here you can leave with such prey as pike, carp, roach. In general, fishing in still water is considered by many fishermen to be of higher quality, in contrast to flowing water bodies. You should fish here with live bait if it is a pike, and with corn, bread, pearl barley, worms, bloodworms, maggots if it is roach or carp. When fishing for carp, you can also catch white crucian carp and gudgeon; when they appear, you should change the place of fishing if you do not want to “pull little things out” to the cat.

In addition to the “Holy Lake”, there are many more lakes, ponds and backwaters that have perfectly preserved their fish resources. In such reservoirs you can catch crucian carp, carp, carp, rotan (goby), and gudgeon. All this fish is caught using worms, porridge, bread crumbs, and corn. It’s also a good idea to get pearl barley or millet with carp additives.

For lovers of large fish of the carp family, those fishermen who want to eliminate the possibility of coming home without a catch, there are paid fish farms in the region. The essence of their work is simple: entrepreneurs breed fish in an artificial reservoir and give fishermen the opportunity to enjoy frequent bites of large carp, crucian carp and carp for free. You only pay for the fish you want to take home; you don't have to pay for fish you catch and drop. This is a rather convenient place to relax; it includes the possibility of preparing the catch on the spot, as well as full-fledged services: gazebos, barbecues, a store, tackle, and so on. If you have small funds, then this is not a barrier, since the prices here are more than reasonable. Overall it can be quite an interesting holiday.

As for the fishing process, it is allowed to fish here exclusively with a fishing rod. The bait is standard: for carp and carp it is corn and pearl barley, for crucian carp it is a worm, bread crumb, bloodworm. In general, with so many fish, it doesn’t really matter what you fish for. The main thing here is not to miss the bite. A similar fishery can be found, for example, in the village of Motovo in the Yuzhsky district.

Separately, fishing on the Klyazma River should be highlighted, which, according to many, is the cleanest of the rivers of the Ivanovo region. Probably, the fact of its purity is explained by the fact that the river flows, for the most part, through forests and fields, bypassing cities, and only occasionally looking into small towns and villages. In Klyazma you can find burbot, catfish and even crayfish, which once again confirms its purity, since crayfish do not live in dirty water. In the dams and creeks of this not very large river, sometimes there are pools and holes, which explains the large number of burbot and catfish. Also, cold water, fed by an incredible number of underwater springs and springs, contributes to a favorable habitat for these species of fish.

Fishing for catfish and burbot follows in the same pools, lowering the bait to the very bottom. Fish bite on frogs, meat (especially slightly spoiled meat), and pieces of fish. When catching catfish, you should use strong tackle and a fishing line of at least 0.5 mm, since this fish is quite large; adult individuals can reach 20 kg or more. Be careful: the catfish, due to its size, is very resistant to fishing. There were cases when catfish not only broke gear, but pulled awkward fishermen into the water.

Fishing on the Holy Lake

Fishing enthusiasts in Ivanovo often go to the Holy Lake, which attracts fishermen because there are practically no ordinary tourists on its shores. This is due to the complex terrain of the lake. It is not intended for swimming due to the sharp decrease in depth. The lake has an oval shape and there is a beautiful forest on its banks. When entering the water, it seems that the bottom is flat, but after just a couple of steps the depth can reach 5 meters.

The Holy Lake has very clean and clear water . There are quite a lot of fish, and they actively swallow the bait. The following species live on the lake:

  • burbot;
  • pike;
  • perch;
  • roach.

There is not too much food in the reservoir, so the activity of the fish increases greatly when using bait. Most often, fishermen use steamed rolled oats or millet porridge. An ordinary float rod is perfect for fishing from the shore. You can use earthworms, maggots and pieces of dough as bait.

Paid fishing spots in the Ivanovo region

There are a large number of paid fishing ponds in the region. These include Rybak Shirokovo, Ded Shchukar, Ulovo, Motovo. In such places, fishermen can always catch carp, crucian carp, grass carp, pike, tench, and perch. Well-maintained and clean areas are suitable for relaxing with friends and for the whole family. On the territory, as a rule, there are many shops that sell tackle. There are also rental points, huts and places for tents. The administration of paid reservoirs offers tourists a sauna or barbecue.

If we draw conclusions, then the lakes and rivers of the Ivanovo region still attract a large number of people, despite their ugliness. So the Ivanovo region can be 100% guaranteed to be called one of the most favorite places for guests and residents of the region. Almost all bodies of water contain large quantities of fish. So even a beginner will leave here with a catch.

Tips for fishing in Ivanovo

If you come to Ivanovo from another city, then take care of where you will stay for the night, choose a hotel in Ivanovo in advance and book a room that suits you. Thanks to this, you can calmly get ready for fishing in the morning and after it, have a good rest in comfortable conditions.

With the onset of winter and after the ice freezes, you can go fishing to the village of Rozhnovo. It is best to fish on the river before it flows into the reservoir. At this time, you can catch pike well with girders. The best bait for fishing is live bait - crucian carp.

It’s best to go fishing early so that you can be there by dawn. Keep in mind that you will need time to get to the reservoir and drill holes. From the road to the river there are 400 meters, but in the dark this path is quite difficult. Take care in advance of sharp knives on the drill to quickly make holes.

The drains should be installed along the shore, on the borders with the pit. You can limit yourself to five pieces, but the most optimal number is ten pieces of zherlitsa. Usually, at the beginning of winter after ice has formed on the reservoir, you can catch a good big pike in these places. There are specimens weighing 7-8 kg.

For fishing, it is best to choose a clear day, without strong pressure changes. The fish do not bite well in snow or rain.

Fishing on Unzha

The Unzha River is also popular among residents of Ivanovo. The following fish species live in this river:

  • pike;
  • ide;
  • perch;
  • bream;
  • zander;
  • burbot;
  • roach;
  • silver bream;
  • asp.

For fishing, it is best to choose places where the river changes its topography, as small holes are formed there that are attractive to some species. In the summer, fishermen go to Unzha for pike and perch. Of course, you won’t be able to catch large specimens here; the average weight of perches does not exceed 500 grams. In the evening, pike perch bite well. But it quickly goes deeper, so experienced fishermen can catch it.

Unzha is not famous for the abundance of catfish , but many fishermen managed to catch them with fishing rods. Individuals of this species choose holes and snags, so amateurs should look for such places. Bream and roach bite very actively if you use bait. However, it must be mixed with soil. This is necessary so that the bait is slowly washed away by water and attracts more fish.

In winter, fishermen go to Unzha for burbot and ide. The main difficulty is that you need to constantly change the locations of the holes. If you managed to catch a couple of fish, it is better to move to another place and drill several new holes.
