Map of fishing spots
In the floodplain of the Sura River behind the village of Yagodnaya (located in the Pilninsky district) there is a small lake, which the locals call Barabanskoye. There are quite a lot of large predatory fish in the lake; pike weighing about a kilogram and medium-sized perch are often found. Peaceful fish are dominated by crucian carp, roach and bream.
The Gorky Reservoir, which is located in the village of Andronovo, Gorodetsky district, often attracts fishermen. They fish on the reservoir all year round, and some areas do not freeze in winter and you can fish with a spinning rod. The most common species caught are perch, pike perch and bersh.
The Piana River flows through almost the entire territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region, but for fishermen, the area located near the village of Annenkovsky Quarry is of particular interest. The village is located in the Vad region and lies on the right bank of the river. Fans of fishing for predatory fish will be interested in hunting for large pike, perch and chub.
Lake Arbuzovo also attracts lovers of active recreation. But it is quite difficult to call this body of water a lake; due to its small width, it looks more like a channel. The average depth is about 2 meters. White fish bite very well, and it is better to fish from the shore using a float rod. I recommend using a worm or bloodworm as bait.
Near the village of Troitskoye there is a small lake called Armanikha. The reservoir is known to local lovers of fishing for predatory fish. Here you can catch simply huge pike and perch. The main thing is to choose the right bait and do not forget to arm yourself with a powerful spinning rod.

Free fishing spots in Nizhny Novgorod
The section of the Uzola River located near the village of Bastranovo (located in the Gorodetsky district) very often attracts fishermen. There is something to do here for those who love fishing for peaceful and predatory fish. Large ide, dace, chub and pike are unlikely to leave any fisherman indifferent.
Babinsky backwater on the Oka River is one of the best places for fishing. If you are focused on catching pike, then you should pay attention to areas of the backwater with thickets of water lilies. A clean bottom, almost complete absence of trash and a depth of about 2 meters makes this backwater a very promising place for fishing for large pike, perch and asp.
In the Borsky district there is an excellent reservoir for fishing enthusiasts - Lake Kislenko. You can get to the reservoir from the village of Neklyudovo, the distance is only 1.5 kilometers. There is a lot of fish in the lake, but most often you catch pike and perch. Bream, roach and rudd bite a little less often.
Sura River
The section of the Medyanka River located outside the village of Bakshandino is located near the mouth of the river and is a promising place for fishing. There is more than enough peaceful fish, large silver bream and roach are caught, and perch, chub, ruffe and minnows are also excellently caught.
Near the village of Bakshandino the Medyanka and Sura rivers merge. A nice place for burbot fishing lovers; by the way, this is the only place where they bite. And fans of fishing for silver bream will also have something to have fun with, there is a lot of it here.

Hi all! Today I got into the car, looked at the thermometer (-23) and thought: “maybe back to bed? Why am I doing this? but these are lyrics. On Saturday I was in Dudenevo for the first time this season and flew like that, covering as much as 7 km of virgin snow. Today I decided to get even, to at least somehow rehabilitate myself. The time was from 7 to 11, in such weather it seemed sufficient, I wanted to drive perch along the shore in the Volga Bay in the Kstovo region for balance, but... So, about fishing. There are almost no people, this is understandable - wind gusts up to 15 m/s, frost -20°. The first good news after going out onto the pond was the wind at my back, and that was all for the positives for now. I started with proven coastal places where perch always lives and bites. In the first half hour I fished 5 holes, but only saw a rise in one. Since there was almost no wind near the shore, I decided to check how the fish would respond to the reelless bait. What’s interesting is that activity began almost immediately, but in this form: two retrieves, the fish follows the jig up to a meter from the bottom, but does not take it, then silence. You change the wiring and everything repeats, but still without bites. I spent another 40 minutes watching “cartoons” through the echo sounder. It's 9 o'clock, I'm without fish. I was in such a mood, I made up my mind and went on a long journey. On the way, I stopped at the sticks a couple of times, checked for stray fish and rested, because there were no trails, ankle-deep and higher snow all around, it was hard. The picture is the same - a lot of rises, but only one ruff bit, and according to the echo sounder the activity did not decrease, and it swam back and forth behind the jig. The navigator brought me to a familiar point, but it was unrecognizable - a bare field, that’s great, I don’t like obvious traces of the presence of fishermen. Here everything repeats itself, the fish does not bite, but also rises. On the 10th leash, finally the long-awaited pressure and the first 100 grams on ice, a great start! Either they gave the go-ahead, or the place was right, but for half an hour the fish bit. Then, as we moved to another hole, my hands became wildly cold, I dropped everything and began to warm up with tea and warm up. In the second hole, the fish responded more quickly, but the size let us down, we had to filter - 1 out of 2-3 fish could be taken, plus small perch came across. In such cold weather, it quickly froze my hands and I realized that the gloves were wet and it was impossible to continue fishing in them. I returned to the first hole, put on my leggings and decided to fish in them. On the 10th run there was an unexpected pressure and a silver fish on the ice. Inspired by this bite, I continue to adjust to fishing “roughly”, there’s no other word for it. But then a bad streak came, it was almost impossible to fish in these mittens, and I lost 3 good roaches in a row, and even tore off one. He bandaged himself, again the wind wounds his hands like a knife, until they ache. Surprisingly, the loop worked the first time. Somehow I caught 5 more pieces and got ready to go home at 12. The phone turned off from the cold, anticipating a thrashing from his beloved, he rushed to the shore. The conclusions are interesting; if you place your tent carefully, you can fish well. You need to blink carefully - your eyelashes stick together, you need to take care of your hands, otherwise the consequences of frostbite are disastrous (thank God, I don’t know from my own experience). The fish ate, each individual left waste, almost like in the spring. But with freezing hands, freezing fishing line and fierce wind, I simply missed some of the bites.
