I promised to buy one like this and do a short review on it, looking at the internals and workmanship. The reels were purchased and delivered VERY FAST (delivered from the Russian representative office). It was not possible to beg for a discount (to my regret :), but we must pay tribute, if we consider the reel as an example of more famous competitors (in this category), the price is already quite attractive

As you can see from the photo (and indicated in the specification), 10+1 bearings are stated - “favorite Chinese size” :), the gear ratio is relatively common 5.2:1. I think there’s no point in repeating in detail the advertising of the technologies used in this reel, I’ll just look at the reel along the way and explain (if I find something and know information about it , if I’m wrong, I’m sure you’ll correct me
I think it’s worth starting with the fact that this reel is almost a complete copy of the STINGER PHANTOM XW reel. The difference that exists between these reels is in favor of the one under consideration from Kastking. This includes some technical improvements (we’ll look at some of these below) and the issue of price (Sharkey is noticeably cheaper, almost twice as much). The question immediately arises - who stole from whom!?
Apparently, it is very similar that these are products from the same plant, but produced for different orders (for different brands).But who will say about this!?
The reel itself is a little closer and in more detail...
Unscrew the spool nut. There is a sealing rubber gasket on the nut to protect the clutch from moisture. (there was such a thing in the advertisement
I didn’t disassemble the clutch or take photographs ( the use of carbon discs is stated, this is of course good, but I’m not sure that I can confirm or refute this “by eye”, so I decided to leave it on the conscience of the manufacturer
). The sound of the clutch is pleasant, but not loud. The nut on the clutch is recessed into the body, which prevents the fishing line from getting under it. The spool has one ratchet mechanism under the nut, which allows for maximum metal removal and minimal weight
the balancing of the spool is visible - a part of the metal has been selected to match the weight of the installed unit.
The spool has some differences in the shape and size of the holes compared to the Stinger. In my opinion, this difference is not fundamental.
There was an opinion on the Internet (there is even a video about the modification) that the spool, for all its advantages, has a drawback - there is no polishing on the surface of the line coming off. When viewed closely, the processing is visible.
It is proposed to polish this surface to prevent excessive “fragmentation” of the braids.
To be honest, I don’t really agree with this and I’m not going to polish my spools. In part, these grooves reduce friction, and their shape does not have sharp edges - the line will run perpendicularly. On the other hand, I photographed the surface of a reel from the Mikado brand - I don’t see much difference between them, and I don’t believe in similar “jambs” from different class=”aligncenter” width=”800″ height=”653″[/img ] Don’t look at the winding - I wound it by hand, I wanted to unwind it first for a photo, then I decided, and so it’s obvious, I wound it back.
The bobbin mechanism has a large margin for adjustments, a paired bearing is used to strengthen the fixation of the spool and prevent distortions under load. In general, I liked this option both in terms of execution and easy free movement.
The handle is made of aluminum, made on a machine using the grooving method, with the ability to be rearranged to suit your “favorite” hand. The “warm” knob (using EVA) will provide comfortable fishing in the cold season.
The reel handle uses a standard hexagon, reinforced with grooves for engagement with an additional “gear” mechanism.
Well, let's disassemble the coil, look at the insides and the quality of the lubricant?
Bobbin bearings
The manufacturer promises protection from water (during immersion) for up to 3 minutes. It is made due to a good fit of the parts - all joints are also coated with lubricant (this will be visible later during disassembly) and there is a groove (with a mating part) that additionally prevents water from getting inside. However, in this case, open type bearings are used, although it is stated that they are stainless... It is especially incomprehensible to use such bearings under the spool - debris and water can get in there quite easily.
The mechanism is a typical “locomotive”. Good drive gear with large teeth. Lubricated with two types of lubricant - the difference is noticeable even externally, well lubricated
In my opinion, the mechanism is successful, it is unlikely that the spring will burst. Budget Shimano let down precisely this unit.
The line roller has a fair amount of lubricant, and the bearing is covered with washers on both sides.
The winding is a small reverse cone, a little more than a couple of mm between the turns. I reeled it in without any special tools, and after several long casts, the wet one will lay itself out “as it should” :). I decided to supply the braided line from the same manufacturer; I had previously reviewed it in a review.

So what are the results?
Carbon body, light weight!!!
The front brake clutch works normally and does not reset the loops (according to a bunch of reviews - I can’t report on this point myself yet). The gear ratio is a relatively common 5.2:1, the ride is smooth and noise-free. True, immediately after the purchase it was a little tighter, probably until I “developed” the lubricant for the mechanism. The play is almost unnoticeable: completely absent on the rotor, minimal on the handle, most likely due to the peculiarity of the handle mechanism.— Open type bearings. There is no second spool.
Small bonus
Comparison of technologies I have “antique” spinning rods and a reel that was once quite interesting (I didn’t bother to weigh it, although its weight is “wow” :)!
