Such popularity gave impetus to the active development of the fishing industry, both in the center of Perm and in the region. Tourist complexes, modern recreation centers, and campsites began to be built on the banks of large bodies of water. That is, to create all the conditions for lovers of active recreation with a fishing rod in their hands. Today, fishing in the Perm region is an opportunity to fully relax, get a boost of energy and, of course, catch your treasured trophy.

About the Perm region

The Perm region is famous for its huge number of reservoirs, large and small, deep and not very deep, rich in fish and less promising in terms of fishing. There are not so many of the latter, so no one is left without a catch.

Nature
Over 30,000 rivers flow through the region, most of which flow into the Kama, the largest water artery with a basin of more than 500 thousand square meters. km. There are also 3 large reservoirs, countless lakes, ponds and swamps. In swampy areas, fishing is difficult because it is almost impossible to get to the water. There are no roads here; locals go fishing along long-established trails, without knowing which it is better not to take risks. Alternatively, you can use the services of a ranger and get to the desired lake accompanied by him.

What kind of fish live?

According to ichthyologists, up to 40 peaceful and predatory species live in the rivers and lakes of the Perm region, most of which are of interest to fishermen. The most popular targets are pike perch, pike catfish, bream, chub, asp, roach, and perch. Some rivers have good whiteeye fishing. Taimen, nelma, grayling and char do not live everywhere; in order to successfully catch such fish, you need to make inquiries and know exactly where to go. Looking ahead, let's say that they are caught on the Vishera River, or rather its lower third, located on one of the plains of the Perm region. A representative of the sturgeon may also be on the hook, for example, sterlet or Russian sturgeon, but such prey will have to be released, since its catching is prohibited in the region.

Fishing ban

What do you need to know so that fishing in Perm and the Perm region does not end in an unpleasant conversation with fisheries inspectors and subsequent administrative penalties? It is not at all necessary to study the established rules from cover to cover; it is enough to know the basic requirements.

On most large reservoirs, a spawning ban is introduced for the period from April 15 to June 15, that is, for exactly two months. On the Kama and Votkinsk reservoirs, as a rule, it is impossible to fish from 05.05 to 15.06 and from 01.05 to 10.06, respectively.

However, spawning is not a reason to give up your favorite hobby. Nobody forbids fishing with one tackle from the shore, provided that it has 1 or 2 hooks.

There is a list of species whose populations are rapidly declining. You cannot fish for them purposefully, and if accidentally caught, you should release them. The fishing ban in the Perm region applies to the following fish:

  • Sturgeon
    Russian sturgeon;

  • sterlet;
  • taimen;
  • freshwater trout;
  • taimen;
  • gudgeon;
  • sculpin

In addition, in certain areas it is prohibited to catch grayling and carp. Before you go to catch the mentioned fish in a specific body of water, it is worth asking whether this is possible.

Where to fish?

Many fishermen, wanting to ensure a 100% result, prefer to fish on paid lakes and fishing bases. On the one hand, this is the right approach, because on paid sites a good catch is almost always guaranteed. They are constantly stocked with fish, convenient places are equipped on the banks, and huntsmen will show you the catch spots and help you choose a fishing method. But wild fishing also has its advantages. First of all, this is real romance. Set up a tent away from people, and relax for your own pleasure. The singing of birds, the crackling of a fire over which fragrant fish soup smokes... what could be better? In addition, this option is an opportunity to save money to purchase new gear and fishing accessories. Let's start with it.

Free fishing in Perm and the Perm region

There are plenty of places where you can relax in nature and fish absolutely free in Perm and the surrounding area. Many fishermen do just that. Some fish during daylight hours and go home in the evening, others stay overnight in the hope of catching the nocturnal predator catfish, others set up a place and pitch a tent for a whole week, or even two. Some lakes and river sections stand out from the rest not only because of their natural beauty, but also because of the abundance of fish. We list those that have collected the largest number of positive reviews:

  • Kama River
    Kama. Perm fishermen divide it into three parts: lower, middle and upper. The most popular is the upper one, here the fishing is excellent and the water is clean due to the absence of industrial discharges. There is little fish in the middle section, so you won’t find local fishermen here; only visitors fish. There is a fish in the lower part, but you have to catch it in dirty, muddy water. The reason is wastewater from a thermal power plant, which is discharged into the river after being used in cooling systems. Where on the Kama can you sit down with a fishing rod and have some great fishing? Excellent places are located 25 km from the regional center of Dobryanka upstream. People come here for trophy bream, which are found much less frequently in other parts of the river. An excellent choice would also be the village of Stashkovo, located 64 km from Perm. Fans of catching sorog, fishing for pike-perch and perch with spinning rods gather here; there is a chance to catch a decent freshwater catfish.

  • Vishera River
    Vishera. Another waterway in the Perm region, popular among the fishing fraternity. In the upper reaches of the river there is a large population of grayling, but staying here is not without a certain extreme, as in any other mountainous area. In the middle part, the most promising place is considered to be the confluence of the Kolva (a tributary of the Vishera) near the village of Cherepanovo. This is a real Klondike for fishermen; many species are caught here, from dace to the sterlet listed in the Red Book. The lower reaches of the river and the oxbow lakes in the estuarine zone experience no less fishing pressure, but there is enough fish for everyone. They successfully catch roach, sabrefish, pike, pike perch, asp, burbot, bream, and this is not a complete list of possible trophies.

  • Babka River
    Grandma. Previously, this river was called Babiya, and then they began to call it the same as the village near which its source is located. The Babka flows through the territory of the Perm and Kungur regions. Its bottom consists of pebble areas alternating with sand spits; the depth in some places reaches 7 meters, which is quite suitable for a wide variety of representatives of the ichthyofauna. In addition to common river species, such as chub or bream, there are also more rare ones - podust and grayling. The latter is caught mainly in the upper reaches.

  • Chusovaya. Certain sections of this river without settlements are of interest. This is 40 km between Sulem and Martyanovo, 47 km between Ekva and Kyn, as well as the longest deserted section of 73 km from Nizhnyaya Oslyanka to Ust-Koiva. After a good flood, the density of fish here reaches a possible maximum, but in dry years it slides downstream.
  • Lake Chusovskoye
    Chusovskoye Lake. One of the largest in the Perm region, occupying almost 20 hectares of area. The water in the lake has a greenish-yellow tint due to swamp drains, but this does not stop the fish going to spawn (many species spawn in Chusovskoye). The fishing here is trophy. Local perches, for example, grow up to 2 kg, and pike also reach respectable sizes. The capture of a toothy predator weighing 8-10 kg is not uncommon. In winter, grayling comes here.

  • Hell Lake
    Lake Adovo. It is also a large body of water, located in a remote area, which makes it attractive for those who want to escape away from civilization. Its marshy shores make fishing somewhat difficult, but it is absolutely free. Pike and perch are caught; there are no other species in the lake. And since the food supply of predators is quite scarce, they actively grab the artificial bait of spinning rods.

  • Berezovskoye Lake
    Berezovskoe. Located in Cherdynsky district. This lake has an area of more than 2 square meters. km and depths of up to 5 m, the water level in which is maintained thanks to a deep channel connecting it with the Berezovka River. An excellent place for a wild holiday with a tent and barbecue. Fish come here not only for the sake of procreation; roach, crucian carp, bream, ide, pike, and perch fatten up here. The roads are bad, they simply don’t exist. In summer, fishermen get to Berezovsky on ATVs or boats along the channel, in winter - on snowmobiles.

  • Votkinsk Reservoir
    Votkinsk reservoir. Will give you an unforgettable fishing experience, for which you don’t have to pay. The average depth is 8 meters, there are many large and small bays, there are over 30 species of fish, including Nizhnekamsk sterlet. The total length of the coastline is 1000 km, so even the most demanding anglers have plenty to roam around. Well, you can stay in one of the settlements located on the banks of the reservoir (Krasnokamsk, Belyaevka, Kryukov and others).

Winter fishing for certain types of fish

This article will tell you where and on what body of water this or that fish is caught. After all, some fishermen deliberately go after a specific type of fish.

Where to catch perch

Catching perch in winter in the Perm region begins from the moment ice appears on the reservoirs. Fishing ends as soon as the ice melts. Some anglers claim that perch is most effectively caught in the following bodies of water:

  • This is the place where the Kama and Kosva converge. It is located 120 km from the city of Perm and is a section of the Kama Reservoir, which is located slightly above the settlement of Nizhny Lukh. This place is considered one of the most popular among winter fishing enthusiasts. Fishing here is always productive throughout the winter.
  • An equally catchable place is a site located on the Kama River, between the Bobrovo recreation center and the village of Shemeti.
  • A section of the Obva River, which is located between the settlements of Komarikha and Sludk.

Where is bream caught?

Bream in the Perm region bite all winter, but they bite most actively in early March and throughout the spring. The most catchable points are considered to be fed points.

Most local fishermen go for bream within the village of Trinity. It begins to be caught in January and continues to bite until March. During this period, none of the fishermen is left without a catch. With the arrival of spring, bream begins to actively bite in all reservoirs.

Where to catch pike perch

With the appearance of ice on reservoirs, winter hunting for pike perch begins. He begins to actively take bait with the appearance of ice and continues to actively peck until the end of December. With the advent of a thick ball of snow, it becomes more and more difficult to find the resting places of these fish. Since you have to constantly move around a body of water, a thick ball of loose snow poses a serious obstacle if there is no special transport or skis.

You can catch pike perch:

  • On a section of the Kama River, within the villages of Chastye and Okhansk, as well as slightly downstream.
  • Within the Chusovsky water intake.

To catch pike perch in winter, you will have to work hard to find its place of residence. With the arrival of spring, pike perch begin to become more active as they begin to chase schools of bream. This is also due to the fact that the amount of water in rivers and other bodies of water begins to decrease.

Where to catch roach

The roach has a second name - it is a roach, and it is found almost everywhere, both in summer and winter. At the same time, the most catchable places differ, located in sections of various rivers and lakes.

You can catch a track in winter:

  • On the Kama River, within Ust-Nytva.
  • On the Obva River, near the settlements of Oktyabrsky and Poser.
  • On a section of the Kama River, next to the recreation centers “Svyazist” and “Bobrovo”, as well as near the village of Shemeti.
  • In the Polazna Bay of the Kama River.
  • On the Chernaya River.
