Hi all! Brief report after fishing on June 19. Early in the morning we left Zelenograd towards Konakovo. The weather promised to be good. And the closer we got to the fishing spot, the more we became convinced of this. In Konakovo we met with our comrades, loaded 3 boats and went to the beach. There was a full house on the beach, hundreds of cars, tents and a bunch of fishermen with boats. We launched the boat, installed an electric motor and, having tied 2 boats to ourselves, we set off with friends to our favorite islands. Having reached the fishing spot, we hardly found a less overgrown shore and unloaded everything that was unnecessary. Having prepared the gear, we boarded the boats again and split up in search of “cool” places.
Everything around the islands was overgrown with thick reeds, and the water was completely covered with water devil. The search for fish began along the reeds and in small nooks. The first place turned out to be without fish.
After feeding the next nook, the fish began to bite, like from a machine gun - cast and instantly bite! Within 10-15 minutes, almost half of what was caught that day was caught. After 15 minutes of biting, the point simply fell silent, the next feeding did not produce results, and we swam to look for another place. For the next couple of hours the fish could not be tempted.
We swam into another nook, threw the bait and saw the reeds moving nearby. And after 5-10 minutes the fish again suddenly began to greedily attack the bait on the hooks. After 10 minutes the bite turned off again.
At lunch we decided to take a break and went with our comrades to the island. We had a snack, rested, looked at each other’s fish tanks and were surprised that everyone had approximately the same number of fish. Everyone was having trouble finding fish. We chatted and with renewed vigor we set off in search of fish.
Alas, the search for fish was not very successful; at best, we managed to catch 2-3 fish from the spot. Towards evening we packed our things and went home. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to take many photos; I left my phone in the car and didn’t ask others to take photos.
Overall, I was pleased with the trip, because the places were very beautiful, and the weather was whispering. The small items were heated on the spot, and roach and rudd weighing 100-300 grams were taken for drying. My brother and I fished with Kaida Orion 4 meter rods, Kaida CTR 404 reels and Kaida Triones 0.16 mm line. The rod and line were ideal for fishing from a boat in the thickets, the reel is a bit heavy for such fishing and is suitable for the shore.

Fishing on the Volga near Konakovo on the island
On the first weekend of August, my friends and I have an annual tradition of going fishing on the Volga near Konakovo.
According to the already established system, we negotiate with local residents about a transfer to one of the Volga islands and spend the weekend there. This year the tradition was fully observed. Having reached Konakovo in our cars, we left them under the care of local residents. We were brought to the island on a motor boat in a few trips. Who hasn't dreamed of relaxing on a desert island? And here is such an opportunity. Well, of course, someone had already stayed on the island before us, but this weekend it was only ours. I took only spinning rods with me and didn’t bother with donks and fishing rods. The island we got was not large, but quite heavily overgrown with reeds all around. There were several places for fishing from the shore, which were favored by ground fish. I had a small inflatable boat with me, with which I intended to fish while sailing around the island. The weather was warm and sunny, only on Saturday evening there was heavy rain, which drove us all under a common tent.
The fish bit sluggishly during the day, only in the evening and at night the bite became active. I did not sail far from the island and fished the coastal zone. For bait I used spinners with a single hook. The hook was equipped with a spring that protected the hook from snagging. I hooked a small twister. This bait made it possible to fish overgrown areas without the danger of snags and cliffs. I tried to move the spinner closer to the bottom using stepped wiring. On the first evening we managed to catch a couple of pikes. I caught one of the pikes using a wobbler going 1.5 m deep with a jerk retrieve. Another pike bit on a spinner with a twister. I also caught a perch and a small bee-eater, but it got caught so badly that when removing the hook, the gills were damaged and I had to not let go.
I tried to move the popper along the grass, but there were no bites on it. I started trying to throw into the depths using both twisters and vibrating tails with stepped wiring. On silicone the result was more interesting. In the morning we managed to catch a couple more pikes, one was under 2 kg. Half of Saturday we slept and relaxed. Saturday evening did not bring any tangible results. There were several bites, but nothing was caught.
On Sunday we already started getting ready to go home. We called the boatman and took us to the mainland to the cars. We all really enjoyed our stay on the island. We will definitely go again next year. The donors caught roach and bream and promised to soon treat them to roach. The Sunday drive home turned out to be too long and boring. Moving from traffic jam to traffic jam, Leningradka was very exhausting. It was all the more pleasant to return home.
