First impression

I tried to make a couple of swings and became wary. The build doesn't seem to be fast. I would say that he is medium-fast or even average. At first I was a little upset, because I just wanted a fast system. However, having tried the wand in action, I realized that I really liked its structure :).

Next I would like to describe my experience and impressions when using Black Hole Spy.

Jig

When fishing with a jig, the bottom begins to be “visible” from the tip at about 1.5 grams; it can be felt with your hand starting from 2-3 grams, depending on the bottom coating. Each pebble hits your hand very loudly, which is good news.

Spy handles wobblers well, but not all. So, for example, it is uncomfortable to carry deep-sea stubborn wobblers - the tip bends quite strongly. There were no more or less superficial problems. You can twitch with this stick, but you need to get used to it a little, again because of the “soft tip.”

As for the weight of wobblers, spy quite comfortably throws 9 gram cranks at a distance of 20-25 meters, with the upper spinning rod test being 5 grams.

This summer, while vacationing on the South Coast, I took Spy with me. I wanted to catch sea predators, in particular scorpionfish, and bought all kinds of rubber in advance, which I actually left almost all of on the hooks. Local fishermen suggested that this area is very rocky and fishing here with rubber is not effective, but it was too late J. It is clear that if I used a heavier spinning rod, I would have pulled out this fish faster, but then I would not have received such unforgettable emotions J.

During subsequent casts of the wobbler, I caught about a dozen scorpionfish. The size was completely different.

Acquaintance with Black Hole Spy began at the spring fishing exhibition at the All-Russian Exhibition Center. Then, at the Black Hole spinning rod stand, I was immediately struck by the unusual design of these spinning rods, more pronounced in green. I looked at it, shook it in my hands, and the assembly left a pleasant impression. Among the line, I have my eye on several interesting models for the future.

The price turned out to be extremely affordable, something in the region of 3 thousand rubles, however, in modern realities it is no longer uncommon. What can we say, the budget segment has improved for the better. In general, I decided to get one. I chose a short chub Black Hole Spy 185 with a test of 1-7 g with an eye on catching a white predator on small rivers.

And here it is in my hands. The first fishing showed that this is, as they say, “the best cucumber for a girl.” The action is fast enough (medium fast) to cope with typical chub cranks, and at the same time responsive enough to the work of 2 gram vibrators. When playing, it doesn’t drain the fish, it works and dampens jerks with dignity. Although, in truth, he didn’t have to keep the trophies like that. He caught a maximum of a kilo-sized asp with it. He parked it without any problems, like a baby.

The Black Hole Spy spinning rod fit perfectly in the hand, the finger fell on the blank as usual and off we went. Headfish, bass, small pike. Spay was comfortable fishing. And this is due not only to the technical characteristics of the fishing rod. The spinning rod turned out beautiful, it was pleasant to hold it in your hands. Convenience was facilitated by the ideally spaced handle, made of EVA, and anti-wrap KR-ki. The rear clamping nut did not cause any inconvenience, the option is quite ordinary.

Even when talking about the opportunity to test Spirit, Misha (Shakespeare) told me: “Her structure is kind of complicated. On a kg fish it bends in half. It works fine with a 12-16 gram jig. Unusual stick, non-standard. I think it could be interesting." Well, I thought then, it’s really interesting! I'll chase it in the tail and mane, try to understand it, and describe it.

As soon as he had the wand at his disposal, and without even really looking at it, he rushed to the river. The weather that day was, to put it mildly, not comme il faut. The wind in the face is twenty meters per second with gusts up to thirty. Not the most pleasant and correct weather for dating. Although, how to approach the question: in such conditions, a test can be both combative and interesting.

Let's shake it first. You know, I don’t agree with the previous speaker - spinning is not a stake at all. Of course, one would hesitate to call him naughty, but there is no harshness or anger. At all. There is a rather long radial vibration of the whip (I hope I expressed myself clearly). That is, the tip, when shaken, describes several gradually fading radii. True, they are perfectly even. This, I think, is one of the signs that the stick will not “walk” when casting, and therefore should be quite accurate.

Looking ahead, I will say that Spirit’s accuracy rate turned out to be at the highest level. Wherever you point, he throws it there. For me personally, this quality of gear is very important, since I spend most of my time fishing from a boat, and when fishing with Black Hole like this, you can be sure that the bait will fly exactly under the desired bush, snag, or in the place where it splashed a second ago large

Next is a visual check of the static structure. Definitely not super-fast. Under light pressure on the stop, the stick bends very smoothly between 1/4 and 1/3 of its length, bypassing the extrafast and rushing towards the fast, and as the increasing effort continues, it calmly and pliably bends further - passes the fast 1/3 and begins to rest only closer to half of the form. OK. Let's cast. Budget Shimano Nexave reel (which, however, has always been ok with casting), Sunline Super PE .5 fishing line (not thin, but not a rope), 7 cm vibrator.

I immediately put 22 grams - it flies about 55 meters (along the reel). Not far...

I hear it knocking on my hand - not very loudly, but quite clearly. I reduce the weight to 18 grams - it’s much quieter in the hand, and I already want to look at the tip. Quite a strange, small spread in loads in relation to the sense of smell. But we will attribute this oddity to the weather that day - a breaking wave and a sharp wind in the face were still not entirely adequate conditions for an objective assessment. Let us remember these figures for the sake of example and comparison with indicators in conditions close to ideal. More on this below.

A little about casting: I let the spinning rod cast itself or I invest as much as possible in casting - it still turns out plus or minus 50-60 meters with different weights. The wand, how can I say it, “doesn’t shoot.” On the backswing it fails, and in the last phase of the amplitude it does not stand up with a stake to give the bait more freedom for a long flight, but “bumps” a little forward, thereby only interfering with it. The reason is the complex structure and softness.

Then I made a few more casts with different loads (I realized that the measurements in such a wind are not very adequate), took photographs of the bends during retrieving, under different forces (from these photos you can understand a lot from the above) and went home.

Only at home did I get to know the exterior more carefully. Here he is.

The spinning rod is made very well - there are no backlashes, creaks, rattles, paint chips, resin drops or protruding threads. You can immediately feel that it was made in Korea. Which, by the way, is confirmed by the corresponding inscription.

The neoprene handle is warm and pleasant. It will be wonderful in frost and cold. Not spaced out. For some reason it is intercepted by a double ring at the very bottom. Although, it probably adds aesthetics - a solid one would look ordinary. As it is also said in the advertising brochure - “anatomically shaped, with a length designed for any hand position convenient for the fisherman and the possibility of changing this position while casting, catching or playing fish.” In general, yes – it’s logical. Well, and probably more shore fishing? – wide grip, long cast... But there’s no particular range.

The reel seat is composite, varnished, screw. I don’t know what exactly this type is called. I personally like it, but it requires careful handling - if you tighten the screw a little, the base may crack. Although it looks strong, it can only be broken by deliberately making bad efforts.

On the reel seat itself there is an inscription in English – Quality Production, which means “Quality Product”. Well, for now I’m willing to believe it.

There is no hookkeeper - it's a pity, I'm used to spinning rods with him. But it’s not critical - you can buy a removable one or hook the bait to the bottom ring. It'll do.

We look at the thickness of the butt wall. You know - I like it. Not delicately thin, but not very thick either. All this, in theory, should tell us about the strength and at the same time the necessary sensitivity of the form. I’ll say right away that, trying to somehow remove the bait from the blind hook, I spent a very long time pulling the snag towards me with a spinning rod. The stick bent into a wild parabola, but I felt that it had more than enough strength, and I finally defeated the snag.

Tulip is anti-overwhelm. Medium diameter (not narrow, not wide). Again, if it’s suddenly frosty, there will be less frostbite.

Case.

Oh, I don't like this topic. I don’t know whether this one is good, beautiful, “dear” or not. He's normal! I liked him. This practical case is made of strong and smooth material. Because of this, he is not afraid of dirt at all. In the color of the spinning rod. Linden trees are strong.

In general, I’ll make a reservation that there were very few test fishing trips, they were short in time and inactive in terms of fish. Well, that's how it happened. Nevertheless, it was possible to get a fairly tolerable idea of ​​the wand.

I will note several different significant points, some of which this Black Hole left a mystery to me.

1. The bites are unusually loud! In this sense, the sensitivity is simply at its best. The clicks are such that your heart jumps out of surprise. Also, any contact of the bait with fish and objects on the bottom paints a clear picture in the head - biting, squeezing, chewing, dragging along branches, sand and shells - everything is clearly audible. This is without embellishment - I liked it, and quite a bit.

2. The work of the form when fishing gives the necessary pleasure from the process - even on a small fish it bends into an arc. When this little one, about one and a half kilograms, bit, my partner with a landing net in his hands could not believe that she was so small until he saw her on the surface. I immediately said that the pike was small, but the stick bent so coolly that it was difficult to believe it. Naturally, such flexibility of the fishing stick has a good effect on its ability to tie fish - the clutch clinked only once - on a candle from the water right next to the boat.

3. I repeat - in addition to strong sensations, it also knits fish with a bang. The softness of the blank and the structure, which is close to regular, work positively here. True, I didn’t manage to catch pike perch during the tests, so I don’t know how to cut through the hard jaws, but there were no gatherings of perch and pike. As for the perch, this is generally an ideal option - it delivered everyone safe and sound, pleasantly practicing all the jerks even without thinking about the possibility of tearing the lip.

4. There is, as mentioned, an objective disadvantage in terms of casting range. With a length of 260, the spinning rod is in theory positioned as a coastal one, but if the edge is far away, then nothing will work. True, 260 didn’t really bother me in the boat (although I always cast with an eye on my partner), and in it casting range is not in the first place.

I will give some data on casting distances from the shore with different loads. These figures were recorded in comfortable wind conditions.

Based on the average value over several casts:

10 grams – 50 meters

14 – 50 meters

17 – 60 meters

20 – 57 meters

22 and 25 grams – approx. 50 meters.

The most “volatile” loads are 16-20 grams. With loads of 22 grams or more, the stick already noticeably sinks, and it becomes more difficult to perform both power and soft casts over long distances.

5. Purpose. It seems like a jig...But the range of working loads is not particularly large - from about 14 to 20 grams. No, it’s worth paying tribute to – Spirit knocks on the hand with little or no current on a sandy-muddy river bottom almost always. And, for example, in Matveevka, the knock on the hand does not disappear anywhere in the entire range from 10 to 25 grams - without any reservations. But there is one peculiarity - already at a moderate current, starting from 22 grams, dips begin. That is, the spinning rod, due to its softness, simply does not have time to practice touching the bottom with the bait before it hits the hand. In strong currents and at depth, you can track the touch of the bottom only by the tip or by the cord. Here, however, it helps to move the stick to a position where it and the fishing line form a right angle - then the knock, albeit dull, returns, although it is clear that the tip unbends impressively when touched. Therefore, I won’t say anything in vain - I always felt the wiring one way or another on any fishing trip with him.

So jig is definitely one of the main purposes of this fishing rod. But personally, like most of my fellow hobbyists, I like sticks much harder, angrier, louder.

6. The manufacturer’s official prospectus describes this spinning rod as follows: “When creating this series, the company’s developers and engineers took into account the wishes of spinning players to have a universal fishing rod...”.

Well, I tried Spirit with wobblers. Twitch? No, come on, with such gentleness you can’t even think about it. Nevertheless, I conditionally twitched and caught it.

The spinners work fine. Not small ones, of course, but they work.

You feel the work of the spinner when the weight of the spinner is approximately 10-15 grams. With this weight it flies 40 - 45 meters.

The spinners start to start starting from size No. 2 - and fly away (and I threw Black Fury and Aglia long) a little over 30 meters away.

For the first time I got a spinning rod with such a fast action and movable tip. At first it seemed unusual to me when casting and jigging; it took me the longest to get used to this stick. Spirit rings are clearly designed for PE cord, but on the Oka I only use a regular one, since we mainly do jig fishing on hard terrain and a lot of shell rock.
