Test of rods with 11 and 15 ounce weights
Now I'm testing rods with a load weighing 310 grams. Salmo Diamond went first. When casting, something immediately crunched, but continued to fly. The lower part of the rod reel seat is cracked. The Mikado Ultraviolet, with a load of 11 ounces, was thrown without strain and flew well. Volzhanka Optima with 310 grams also did not cause problems when casting. All rods passed the test.
The final test was using a 15 ounce weight - 420 grams. Let me remind you that the test rods are 120 grams. Salmo Diamond easily coped with such a load. It feels hard to throw, but you can cast at a distance of up to 40 meters. Mikado Ultraviolet also passed the test. While throwing the Volzhanka Optimum, my shoulder blade cramped. The rod turned out to be the thinnest, most elegant and lightest, so it seemed that it would fall apart first. But it also stood the test.
I can now cast heavier loads despite the rod test. But I don’t recommend you repeat the experiments, because you can break an expensive fishing rod!
