How to increase your fish catch

Nowadays, there are many ways to increase the appetite of fish. As a rule, these are specially developed substances based on natural biologically active components. These drugs also include bite activators, which lure fish from long distances using active substances such as pheromones.

Hemp seeds contain a wide range of useful and nutritious substances. Along with nutrients such as proteins, which hemp contains up to 25%, essential oils, vitamins, minerals, amino acids. Hemp seeds contain substances that additionally attract fish. Whole ordinary seeds, roasted or hemp milk are suitable for fishing. In most cases, fishermen use roasted, ground hemp as an additive to any type of bait.

How to prepare your own roasted hemp for bait

The cooking technology is very simple, you just need a frying pan and fire. To begin with, the required amount of hemp is poured into the frying pan and the seeds begin to fry over low heat. At the same time, you should constantly stir the seeds so that they do not burn. As soon as the seeds begin to crackle, they should be removed from the heat, allowed to cool and then grind them in a blender or coffee grinder.

Roasted hemp not only additionally attracts with its unique smell, but also with its behavior in water. Once in the water, small particles of cannabis begin to rise, which can also attract fish. As a rule, it is enough to add no more than 10% hemp seeds to the main bait to make the bait super catchy.

However, you should know that processed hemp seeds do not last long, unlike unprocessed ones. Therefore, it is advisable to take only fresh seeds for bait, otherwise there is a risk of not attracting the fish’s interest, but of scaring them away.

Of course, it is used as bait from mid-July to mid-September, although many fishermen use it regularly and do not go fishing without hemp, especially when they realized how effective it is. If you use hemp itself for bait, constantly throwing it to the float, then you need a lot of it, and using such an effective product in such quantities is not entirely rational. Therefore, hemp is one of the main components of bait, which may include seeds and grains of other plants, such as sunflower, peas, corn, wheat, pearl barley, etc.

How to make bait for carp

Compositions of carp bait, prepared at home, are focused on carp methods for preparing mixed bait. Therefore, their use in catching both close relatives is not something extraordinary. There are a number of recipes for complementary foods that are not distinguished by the complexity of production, but are close to universalism under many fishing conditions. It is these composition options that we want to present to the reader, after familiarizing himself with which he will have the opportunity to prepare an effective mixture in different seasons of the year.

Salapinka

Salapinka was originally a bream bait, but it perfectly suited the conditions for catching carp in strong currents. The food is prepared on the basis of a porridge brew mixed from pearl barley and millet. After cooking, barley or corn flour is added to the porridge to loosen it. The composition is mixed to a thick and plastic consistency, which helps keep the ball of complementary food at the bottom in fast-moving water for a long time. Already near the reservoir, an animal component in the form of crushed bloodworms, chopped worms or shells is added to the home-brewed mix, and the mixture is also saturated with an attractant. This recipe for bait for carp with large quantities of animal components is used in the spring when the water is not yet warmed up enough.

Sweet summer bait

The presented type of bait for carp is prepared with your own hands for summer fishing in reservoirs with stagnant or weakly flowing water. Crushed cereals, corn, barley or buckwheat, are mixed with breadcrumbs and milk powder. The mixture is poured with boiling water, allowing it to brew for two hours. Once cooled, canned sweet crushed corn is added to the mixture. After feeding the point, fishing is carried out using whole corn grain.

Paste for method

Anglers developed this recipe as a variant of feeder bait for carp, intended for feeding into fishing zones in method and spring feeders. To prepare the paste you need fresh halva and semolina. These ingredients are mixed together and lightly steamed in a water bath. As a result, they receive complementary food in the form of a plastic dense mass that rests securely on the ribs of the open feeder.

Autumn recipe

The recipe for autumn carp bait is quite simple in its composition and does not require preliminary preparation at home. This mix is mixed right on the shore of the reservoir. For the mixture you will need breadcrumbs, milk powder and strong-smelling fresh sunflower cake. An impressive amount of worm is prepared from the animal component, which is cut into pieces of 2-3 cm. The basis of the bait will be soil taken directly on the shore of the reservoir. The ingredients are mixed, adding water from the reservoir and bringing the complementary food to the consistency required for the fishing conditions.

Winter bait for carp

From mid-autumn, carp significantly lose their activity, showing less interest in food. Only high quality food can attract fish to the point. Increasing the animal component helps to achieve the desired attractiveness of the mixture. In its basics, cold water food is similar to complementary feeding options used in the summer, only now they introduce at least a quarter of the weight of the animal component and do not add any attractant. The role of the animal component is played by crushed bloodworms, maggots in live and canned form, chopped dung worms and crushed shells. Recently, shrimp or squid meat has been increasingly used as a supplement, which is good for attracting passive carp.

Hemp as bait

If hemp seeds are boiled, it can be used as bait on a hook. The roach loves it very well, but you just need to use this attachment correctly: it is advisable to use it when there is no wind outside. This requires the use of very delicate tackle. Although the bite will be active, the probability of empty bites is very high.

Delicate tackle should consist of a very small hook, an equally small sinker, no more than 5g, and a very light float with a thin antenna. To attach the bait to the hook, you should select larger grains, and leave the smaller ones for bait.

Since hemp seeds do not grow to a size where they can be hooked the same way as peas, the process is quite complex and does not guarantee that the hemp seed will get to the bite. There is a high probability that it will fly off.

Many fishermen put black pellets, similar to hemp grain, on the hook, and use hemp grains for bait. Using this fishing technique, you can catch roach or chub.

Some tips

In order to get immediate results, it is best to use ground hemp seeds and add them to the main bait. When using whole boiled seeds, you need to be very careful because the main bait very quickly takes the moisture out of the seeds and they become very light. If such bait is prepared in advance, then there will be no effect, since light hemp seeds will very quickly leave the bait site, rising upward and will be immediately carried away by the current. In this case, it is best to add hemp grains at the moment of forming the bait balls or at the moment of placing the bait in the feeder. Unfortunately, this option is not practical, despite its effectiveness. Considering the special predilection of fish for hemp, the bait should be directed very precisely to the biting area.

Hemp can be successfully used for hook bait in combination with other baits of both animal and plant origin. Of course, due to the fact that hemp grains are small, they will not be out of place next to peas, corn, maggots or bloodworms, but for this it is better to use very thin hooks.

There is another interesting assumption about the unpredictable love of fish for hemp grains. The fact is that in appearance they very much resemble very small shells, similar to hemp seeds. In addition, the roasted seeds have a similar crunch when you press on them.

Flavors for bait

It has long been known that carp are lovers of sweet and soft odors of natural plant origin. Today there are no problems in choosing fragrances. Indeed, in addition to well-known culinary spices that perfectly serve as flavoring agents, fishing stores also widely stock liquid and dry types of attractants, which should be used when preparing complementary foods. In particular, liquid forms of odor concentrate can instantly impart the required aroma to complementary foods, but dry forms in powder form will gradually increase flavor aromas as they dissolve in the mixture and water.

Carp is a fastidious fish that picks up even subtle aromas. And if she likes it, she will come to the smelling table from long distances, but if she doesn’t like the aroma, then the flock will not stay at the point for even a minute, avoiding feeding places. In aromas, carp prefer honey, anise, and vanilla. Don’t mind approaching fishing spots that are attracted by the smells of berries and fruits; in particular, banana works as a classic fruit carp bait in many reservoirs. In some reservoirs, carp follow the smells of garlic and cocoa.

Important! An effective attractant of natural animal origin is considered to be a shell crushed with meat, collected directly from a fished body of water.

Even small additions of fresh shells can significantly improve the carp’s bite when fish activity is low.
