Modern fishing rods must meet the requirements of anglers. In particular, there is a series of Dodger spinning rods, reviews of which help you understand whether these particular products are worth purchasing and why.
The model range consists of long and short rods with a characteristic fast action, a powerful butt and a thin but fairly rigid tip.
To make a choice, the parameters of each model should be studied in more detail. In fact, Dodger is a universal spinning rod, applicable for both twitching and jigging.

Review of the Major Craft Dodger spinning rod. Reviews from fishermen about the Major Craft Dodger spinning rod
Major Craft Dodger is a modern universal spinning rod that is equally good for jigging and twitching. This series includes both full-fledged shore fishing rods and short wobbler models. The Dodger lineup is so wide that it will allow you to choose gear that will suit different conditions.
The fast action of the rod blank immediately attracts attention, which is not only a consequence of the use of high-modulus carbon, but is largely due to the large taper of the blank. This spinning rod has a very powerful butt and a fairly thin tip of medium hardness. All these features make it possible to extremely aggressively fish for a predator (including trophy fish) and confident animation of the bait. Dodger is designed specifically for Russian conditions and will cope perfectly with any bait when casting.
Advantages: The quality is good and everything about the Major Craft spinning rod is made to the highest standards, appearance and everything else. In principle, I’m satisfied, but it didn’t live up to expectations a bit (seller’s fault!) Disadvantages: The description says that the system is Super Fast, but in reality it’s between medium fast and fast! I would even say that most are averagely fast, but definitely not Super Fast! I took it specifically for twitching from the shore, but probably more than 15 g. It won’t be convenient to twitch. Just right for jig!
I have a spin from Crazy Fish (Perfect jig) the action is fast so it turned out to be tougher and angrier even though the tip is thinner! Dodger is something between a station wagon and a jiger, but it’s a good stick!
Advantages: very light and convenient, throws light baits with a bang.
Disadvantages: broke on the third fishing trip. a catch, three weak tugs and the top shattered into 4 parts.
Excellent workmanship, very pleasant and easy to use. I took grams up to 20 for an average jig. I would rate it 5 stars. but due to the breakdown the impression was spoiled. I will order a new top and most likely sell it.
At first, the Major Craft Dodger spinning rod impressed me very much, but after the season I realized that in strong currents it is too soft, with loads of 28 or more, the tip bends strongly and when hooking and retrieving, due to the soft whip, there are a lot of slips and empty bites on the jig. Well, he’s unlikely to be able to twitch wobblers of 110 or more.
Pros: Just five points. Disadvantages: No
Spinning rod Major Craft Dodger 792H - Lightweight, powerful, giving emotions from biting and playing both big fish and trophies. After two days of fishing, the arm does not fall off, as with the Restiv that was before. When I started fishing with it this season, after the restive, I got the feeling that the fish in the Kama had become angrier! :). I fish with it from 12 grams of weight + rubber, to 32 grams of weight plus 6-inch tires. The overload is tolerable within 10 grams in decreasing order, then it becomes uncomfortable. It cuts through perfectly, both in emissions and in wind.
Advantages: All Dodgers, as I understand it, and I fished with 4 models of different lengths and tests, have no lower casting bar, 792N even Orbit 65 against the wind at 30 meters is easy. Disadvantages: Didn't notice.
Despite all the cliches about spinning rods for twitch (height, structure), I took this stick for twitch wobblers from Orbit 110 to ZBL 15HD. Everything is fine. I also use 752ML, I read here that they break on the hooks, to be honest, I don’t understand what they do with the stick. Transport your rod in a tube and you will be happy.
I have mine both in Karelia and at the Narva VH in snags, no problems. I agree about the strong current, but on rivers with moderate current it is very good. Under ideal conditions, i.e. very weak breeze, loam bottom from a distance of 15 meters, on line #08, 5 degrees. lead + rubber, begins to tap into the hand. Using wobblers, I catch pike perch with them even on Orbit 110.
The Major Craft Dodger DGS-702M spinning rod in terms of performance characteristics is designed to work with a weight range of 6-24 grams, but in practice, as always, everything is a little different. In the short time that I had it in my hands, I can say for sure that fishing with 6 grams is not at all comfortable. The tip is practically not loaded and you certainly won’t be able to make a long cast. Increasing the weight to 8 grams improves the picture slightly, but real comfort starts at about 10 grams. As for the top dough, it works well at 22 grams. I didn’t have to hook large weights, but according to Sergei’s stories, he once caught several large ones for 24 grams. scales. I won’t judge how comfortable it was because of my short time using this spinning rod.
The thrill of fishing with Major Craft Dodger 6 – 24
This is where the spinning rod really pleased me. The fact is that the Major Craft Dodger is positioned as a universal spinning rod and this is really true. Due to their fast standing, they are comfortable fishing with both jig and iron (taking into account the nuances described above). Also, the spinning rod copes well with twitch fishing with wobblers up to 130 mm inclusive. It is informative enough to be able to understand the bottom topography, and also quite sensitive so as not to miss even the most uncertain bite of a medium-sized perch (I will not take small fish into account here, since I have not had to catch them with this tool and I do not have verified information on about this).
“Dodger” also shows itself confidently in the game. When working with small fish, it holds it well, but it’s not even worth talking about larger specimens - the spinning rod perfectly dampens the sharp jerks of the fish, leaving no chance for it to escape. Sergey checked this personally in 2015, fighting with a pike weighing about 7 kg, which as a result was successfully parked on the shore. In addition, the spinning rod delivered slightly smaller pikes (4.5 kg, 3 kg and smaller), as well as perches weighing 400 - 800 grams, into the hands of the spinner.
Results
Perhaps a more experienced user of the Major Craft Dodger DGS-702M 6-24 gr spinning rod. will find some inaccuracy in my words, but from personal feelings during this short time of its use, I can say that this is a high-quality universal stick that copes equally well with different types of baits and is quite predictable when fighting fish, although not without some shortcomings, which in no way spoil the overall impression of it.

Spinning rods Major Craft reviews
Review #1. Major Craft RTS-902MH
I own a Major Craft RTS-902MH. I fish with jig both from a boat and from the shore. Optimal jig head weights: 16-32 g. For other types of fishing from a boat it is too difficult. From the shore, due to its length, it is a good option for various heavy baits.
Review #2. Major Craft Restive RTS-692ML
I have a Major Craft Restive RTS-692ML, it’s good for twitch, but jigs are not its strong point.
Review #3. Major Craft 852MN 8-35
I have a spinning rod 852MN 8-35 from Major Craft, and I liked it, I bought it for Akhtuba and Oka. I think it's worth the price.
Review #4. Major Craft Restive 782
I’ve been fishing with the 782 model for a season now with 7-28 grams of dough. And to be honest, I was not delighted. There is a message, but I didn’t notice any particular ringing in the jig. It handles wobblers mediocrely; for twitch it is better to look for a more specialized one. I also note that braid often gets tangled on the rod tip. My subjective opinion is that it’s not worth the money.
Review #5. Major Craft Restive RTS-902MH
I purchased an RTS-902MH. I really liked it because it’s light, moderately rigid, long-range, and quite versatile. Suitable for twitch and jig.
Review #6. Major Craft Restive RTS-692ML
I found myself a universal spinning rod for fishing from a boat. Jig, twitching, spinners. I was choosing between Revolta and Restiv. Restiv somehow fit better in my hand, and that’s why I chose it. And I don’t regret it, because the stick is very comfortable. The only downsides I would note are the lack of a loop for the bait and not very neat assembly. But overall I'm very pleased.
Review #7. Major Craft MC Restive -RTS-962MH
I use Major Craft Restive -RTS-962MH, test 8-35g. I’m fishing with a jig from the shore, nothing but positive emotions!

Reviews from fishermen
To choose the right model, you should read comprehensive reviews. Among these are from the following users:
A year ago I bought a Major Craft Dodger DGS-782MH (234 10-35) at the Water Business store for 10,000 rubles. At first it seemed that the spinning rod was too hard, but in reality it turned out that it had a very informative tip and a butt of medium hardness. The purchased Dodger is long (2.34 m), but light (137 g). I received additional balance and lightness of the gear through the use of a Shimano reel (model – 4000 '16 Stradic CI4+).
Advantages: weight, appearance, casting, spinning power, ties fish, visual information content of the tip. The disadvantage is sensitivity: the tactile sensations in the hand are rather weak. I also heard that this Dodger model is considered universal for twitch and jig. I don't agree. I think that for a hard twitch the tip is too soft and the handle is too long. Doesn't work well with stubborn wobblers.

I have been using the Dodger 802M for 2 seasons, which generally leaves a positive impression due to its range, accuracy and information content. But for jig, the spinning rod is rather weak, because... sensitivity decreases, and there were times when, with a light bite, I accidentally did not notice it. When twitching, the braided line gets tangled. Grade:

At one time I was lucky to buy a Major Craft Dodger 702MH. This is a universal spinning rod at a low price. I use different baits; I also don’t adhere to a specific fishing style. I throw jig heads far, but carefully, although it works great with them. Wobblers, spinners, spinners - Dodger works great with all of these. It copes with its task.

I also use a Major Craft Dodger 702MH. Among the shortcomings, I will note the weight - for me it is too heavy when fishing from a boat, my hands get tired quickly. But against the backdrop of range, sensitivity, durability and power, this minus is clearly lost. In terms of technical characteristics, the rod is made at the highest level. Grade:

I bought a Major Craft Dodger 702L and was pleased. Advantages: hands do not get tired, price, moderate rigidity, long range, can be used for jigging using jig heads of various sizes. Grade:

And I use the DGS 752 ML model in the 4-18 test, and I am very pleased with it. There is something to compare with. It is versatile, light and long-range. I caught large pike perch and pike perch, and I want to say that the power resource of the rod is excellent. I bought it for a little more than 8,000 rubles, and this price is justified. Now I’m also planning to buy an untsovka.

I bought the Major Craft Dodger DGS-752M back in the summer. What I immediately liked: the fast Extra-Fast action, weight, fish are not lost in the lower test, the ability to forcefully fish without breaking the mouth even in thickets of snags. This is a great option for those who are tired of carrying 2-3 spinning rods with them. The butt is thick, but the tip is really informative! At a depth of 10 meters at different times of the year I caught both small fish up to 200 g and silver carp up to 10 kg. On carp ponds I used weights from 4 to 8 g and caught large pike. Dodger also hooked walleye well. For hard twitching I used a cord with a diameter of 1 cm, because from 0.8 before that there were nuances. Works great with lead rigs. Length is also an advantage of this model, because... allows you to fish both from the shore and from a boat. I like the quality of the fittings. The only negative is that, in my opinion, the handle is a little long, but this is a purely personal opinion.

Review of the Major Craft Dodger 802MH spinning rod
I continue to review spinning rods. Next up is the second rod from the Major Craft
, namely
Dodger 802MH
.
Spinning rods from Japan are considered one of the best in the whole world, but this line is impossible to find in Japan, since this series was produced specifically for the Russian market. Major Craft Dodger
series turned out to be very good, both for fishing with jig baits and twitching wobblers.
This does not apply to every model, of course, but for this model 802MH
we can safely say that it is truly universal in this regard. I don’t know how it happened, but it was with this spinning rod that I was able to see beautiful sunrises on the Moscow River several times.
Technical data: spinning rod length 2 m 44 cm, spinning rod weight 133 g, length of the combined cork + EVA handle, 43 cm. Hardware: Fuji K-Series. Build Fast.
Good holding power and excellent performance in playing, thanks to the powerful butt. I had the opportunity to fish with this rod for several months, and although there were no trophies, I calmly took a 1.5 kg pike perch onto the glider and parked it on the shore, never once doubting the rod.
Coil balance. Very often you hear about the choice of reels in favor of 2500 models for ounce sticks. Below is a photo with a Shimano Biomaster 4000FB reel from '11, which weighs 295 grams. The Daiwa Caldia 3000 reel from 14 years old weighing 250 grams also worked well, but I used this reel for wobbler fishing.
The good throwing qualities of the rod were fully revealed on the very first fishing trips. Ideal use for Japanese size #1 and #1.2 cords. Closer to spring I will give a table on casting distance with different loads in comparison with other ounce rods. The universal length of the spinning rod is 802 or 2 meters 44 cm, the same, good for both boat and shore fishing. Another advantage of this length is that you can fish not only with jig baits, but also with wobblers. At first I thought the 2.44 length would be a bit long for twitching, but after fishing I realized that this is a reasonable top length for me. The handle length of 43 cm is not at all embarrassing, and it is very convenient to use it to produce a wide variety of jerking animations of wobblers. Many people believe that the shorter the rod, the better they can pull the wobbler, and this is partly true. But this winter I was faced with the fact that the pike perch at some points took very far and was caught with wobblers by twitching, so I had to choose from my assortment of gear, and the Dodger 802MH
coped with this task beyond all praise.
The Fast action allows you to make fairly sharp jerks even on stubborn wobblers, such as Sidestep from Ever Gree
weighing 18 grams,
Zoner Jerk 110 from Major Craft
weighing 20 grams.
The wobbler Major Craft Zoner Jerk 110 Deep Minnow,
weighing 27 grams, was also able to move with a smooth twitch. Many people ask the question, will the Rudra 130 spinning rod last? I can safely say that it will last.
Jig baits. The test of this rod is 7-28 grams. Over several months of fishing, I managed to work with different weights throughout the test. So, the rod starts to work at the tip from 8 grams + bait, but in ideal conditions, the best work and casting begins to manifest itself from 10-12 grams + bait. Ideal work, with working in hand on scales of 14-26 grams + bait. At the top of the 28g + 3-inch bait, a slight but tolerable overload begins to be felt, at which a power cast is still possible. As for animation, the rod can easily carry out forceful detonations of the bait throughout the entire test range. I recommend an ideal cord in the range of #1 for the lower test, and #1.5 for the upper test.
To summarize, I would like to note that in addition to working 50/50 in terms of jigging and twitching, the spinning rod will also cope well with other tasks, be it crank wobblers, large spinners or spinners. So if you are looking for a powerful all-rounder for fishing from a boat and the shore, then this model is the Major Craft Dodger 802MH
cope with the main tasks? and will leave a lot of positive impressions. Moreover, in terms of price/quality ratio, this series receives a solid 5.

What baits does spinning work with?
According to most fishermen, the Dodger spinning rod works with all baits. Jig baits are used to catch predatory fish. An important condition is to follow the rules for equipping them for a particular case. You can use both active (twisters, vibrotails) and passive (when catching whitefish).
You should choose the right products based on color, material and size. For hunting large pike, choose a size of 10-13 cm, for pike perch - 7-9 cm. Bright products are used only in cloudy weather.
Vibrating tails are the most suitable bait for jigging, because... imitate live fish as much as possible. They are narrow and wide.
To choose a bait for twitching, you should decide on the method:
- Monotonous hard. Ideal for catching perch. Classic baits for this twitching method: Liberty minnow 60SP and ZipBaits Rigge 56S. Suitable deep products: Pontoon 21 Cheerful 40F and Megabass Live-X Smolt.
- Chaotic hard. Preferred for hunting predatory fish. They use Liberty Pitty 65SP and Megabass Live-X. The advantage of these wobblers is that they turn 180° with certain jerks. To catch pike, the fisherman should take different breaks between jerks.
- Soft with the flow. Applicable when fish do not react to hard twitching. Various wobblers are used to catch grayling, pike perch and chub.
- Stop and Go. Good for beginners. A set of baits for this type of fishing may consist of the following wobblers: Jackall Bros Magallon, Jackall Bros Deka Hamakuru R, Jackall Bros Tiny Magallon.
Let's celebrate! Other baits depend on the experience of the fisherman and his preferences.
Main models
The versatile range of Japanese spinning rods consists of coastal, multifunctional, and specialized devices. Considering the developers' interest in the stated priority, the vast majority of modifications coming off the production line are represented by universal fishing rods. They are equally suitable for jigging and twitching fishing. In the assortment of the Japanese manufacturer, it is easy to choose a fishing rod that suits your preferences, needs and priorities. The manufacturer guarantees stable functionality without mistakes, problems with casting and fishing. We present the main range of models of spinning rods from the Major Craft Dodger brand, which have been leading the TOP international ratings for several years.
The first and main series is represented by the Dodger spinning rod model range with a cone-shaped blank made of an environmentally friendly carbon alloy that does not contain harmful substances. A rigid and flexible tip is the primary advantage that distinguishes these rods from similar devices made in Europe, China, and Russia. The second advantage of fishing rods from the Land of the Rising Sun is speed. This characteristic increases sensitivity, allowing the fisherman to fish out predatory representatives of underwater fauna without significant labor and heavy physiological efforts. The classic length of 2.5-2.7 meters is the third advantage of the Japanese fishing rod, which is present in the set of every second Russian fisherman.
An excellent example of the announced spinning rod is the classic Dodger 752L with a combined cork handle with an anti-slip coating, 220 centimeters long. The combination has a weight limited to 110 grams, fits perfectly in the hand, and corresponds to the stated test of 3-15 grams. The model is equipped with a Japanese-made holding device for stationary fastening of the reel mechanism of any variation. The length of the African cork handle is 42 centimeters, which is another competitive characteristic. According to the unanimous opinion of anglers surveyed in an independent survey, the universal model “752L” is the best choice.
Effective fishing techniques
The preferred fishing technique depends on what kind of fish the fisherman is hunting and in what conditions.
A classic jig will be effective if you follow the following instructions step by step:
- Cast correctly. The line should sag - this will indicate that the bait is sinking to the bottom.
- Hold the Dodger at an angle of 45° and quickly make 3-4 turns of the coil.
- Wait for the line to slack again.
- Repeat the steps until you get a bite.
- When such a predator appears, you need to hook it immediately, otherwise it, suspecting deception, will spit out the bait.
- To speed up the play of the bait, you can twitch the spinning rod periodically.
Actions when twitching:
- For such fishing, it is preferable to choose a line of a suitable diameter.
- Correct twitching consists of a series of jerks and pauses; for this, the fisherman makes periodic twitches with the spinning rod, due to which the wobbler becomes more similar to a real fish and lures a predator.
- If there are no obstacles, you need to twitch the rod by moving its tip towards the fisherman’s feet.
- If there are obstacles, the rod is moved to the side and then returned to its original position.
- The duration of pauses is within 2-3 seconds, with passive fish - 10-20.
Review of the spinning rod Major Craft Dodger DGS-782MH 10-35 gr.
Most reviews about the rod Major Craft Dodger DGS-782MH 10-35 gr. concern its use from a boat. But I bought this “stick” primarily for coastal fishing, in which casting range is not the last thing.
I needed a universal one that could be used to twitch 130 mm wobblers and fish with a relatively light jig. The length of the “stick” 7’8″/2.34 m allows you to comfortably perform jerks. Build more for soft twitching, it may not be to everyone's liking. Here it comes down to taste and color, as they say... In my execution, twitching 130s differs from jerks 100s in greater amplitude and delay at the end of the rod’s movement or small movements of the wobbler for winter passive fish. For all these options, the Dodger is ideal. The stick has plenty of power, cord test up to 20 pounds. It behaves very interestingly in a jig; it is for lovers of rods with a very lively and mobile tip. It is very different from other fishing rods because of the strong contrast between the hard butt and the soft tip. The Dodger is well balanced and fits comfortably in the hand. The weight of the upper knee is 15.25 g.
I’ll dwell in more detail on the Dodger’s casting range. When choosing a spinning rod, this factor is important to understand whether a given model is enough for certain conditions, or whether to take a longer-range one and sacrifice, for example, the convenience of a shorter length. Below I will provide data on casting the MC Dodger DGS-782MH with the lures I most often use. I will update the data as soon as possible.
The measurements were carried out in a calm state of the pond. After casting, I reeled out the slack line and counted the number of turns of the reel. I made 3-4 approaches with each bait; if the data did not differ much, I calculated the average number. I calculated the range as the product of the average number of revolutions of the reel and the length of the line that the reel winds onto the spool in one full revolution of the handle. The total weight of the bait was measured with an accuracy of 0.02 g. and rounded to the nearest whole number.

Minuses. The Dodger reel seat didn't play well with the Shimano Nasci. Either cracks or deformations appeared without loss of continuity in places of stress concentration. They are clearly visible in the photo below. I will list the reels whose claws fit into the holder better: Daiwa Revros, Shimano Ultegra, Ryobi Exia; but Favorite Sirius had to be cut completely with a grinder. Several years passed and the reel seat did not fall apart despite the defects. I had the opportunity to deal with only one spinning rod of this brand, and information from reviews on the Internet about the holder is diametrically different. I can assume that there are different designs, so it’s better to check with the seller before purchasing or come to the store immediately with a reel.
The second drawback I consider is the tendency of the upper guide ring to overlap during pitching casting, that is, short, like a “pendulum”, only when you hold the bait with one hand and the braided line at a stretch. There were no problems with the swing during normal casting.

Where to buy spinning rod, cost
Major Craft Dodger spinning rods are developed using Japanese technology specifically for the Russian market. Thanks to this, the production of high-quality products is located in Russia, and therefore spinning rods are much cheaper than models from foreign competing companies.
You can buy fishing rods:
- in online stores;
- at points of retail sales of spinning rods;
- in markets;
- on Avito and other message boards.
The average price tag for Dodger spinning rods in online stores varies between 8,000-10,000 rubles. At the same time, the manufacturer provides a wide range of models, incl. and casting. At retail points of sale, these spinning rods cost much more.
What affects the final cost:
- seller's markup, which is easy to check on the Internet;
- availability of promotions and discounts;
- delivery – when purchasing in some online stores, there is no charge for it;
- structure and other technical characteristics of the fishing rod.
On message boards, these rods are much cheaper, but in pursuit of profit there is a risk of purchasing a faulty or damaged product.
The Dodger spinning rod series started in 2014, and in such a short period gained a huge number of fans due to:
- powerful butt;
- informative tip of medium hardness;
- conical blank made of high-modulus carbon;
- versatility in the type of fishing and bait used;
- high quality Fuji fittings.
Description of Dodger models
In terms of power, Dodger spinning rods belong to the medium-heavy class. In principle, there are no ultralights among them; there are only three light models in the line, all the rest range from medium to heavy. In general, the entire line gives the impression of serious equipment, created for real fishing, with wind and waves, and not for a walk on a quiet pond with fed minnows.
All representatives of the line are made in the same design - strict and modern, somewhat ascetic. Perhaps only the front part of the handle, made of cork, can be considered a “luxury” element. However, if you fish in cold weather, this solution will seem very practical.
A large number of models makes the Dodger line almost universal. Of course, no single rod is able to cover the entire possible range of angler’s tasks, however, within the limits of its length and power, each rod performs simply excellent.
Naturally, medium-length models have the greatest versatility (for example, 752 and 782). They have proven themselves well both for fishing from the shore and from a boat.
