Review of the Major Craft Crostage spinning rod. Reviews from fishermen about the Major Craft Crossage spinning rod

Major Craft Crostage rods are a unique series of their own. When creating it, in addition to high performance qualities, the price factor was also taken into account. The series is distinguished by good range, reliability and power. The wide range of models in the series allows you to choose a fishing rod for almost every modern fishing method.

Models with bait weights of 0.5-5 and 1-7 grams are typical “Rockfish” rods. Rockfish spinning rods are available both with a glued tip (Solid tip - index S in the model name) and with a regular, hollow tip (Tubular tip). The former are intended more for microjig fishing, while the latter are more universal.

Thus, models with the index Sl, L, ML and bait test 5-14, 7-23 and 10-30 are sea bass rods designed for twitching and “ripping” jerking wobblers, jerking surface baits, wobblers class "vib", bladebaits (cicads) and, of course, a variety of jig baits - mini-jigs and front-loaded jigs.

At the same time, the SL power models are suitable for jerking both a variety of wobblers and medium-sized (about 7-10 centimeters) surface baits - poppers and walkers, plus - they cope well in the current with spinners and crank wobblers when catching chub, perch and pike. The heavier models in this series are powerful coastal casting rods, which were created for long-distance casting of jig baits and compact “jig-like” spinners - such as the well-known Kastmaster.

All rods in the series are equipped with Fuji SiC guides in stainless steel frames, the handle is made of practical and durable EVA material.

Having taken a long time out from “fresh” spring fishing, it was decided to test the new Crostage spinning rod from Major Craft in “salty” conditions, at sea. Firstly, this decision is due to the spawning ban, which is in force in Crimea from April 1 to June 1. Despite the fact that I consider the absolute ban on spinning fishing in the sporting sense of this process not entirely correct, they decided not to break the law.

Secondly, this Crostage model belongs to the Mebaru series, i.e. is rockfish in the classic presentation of this type of fishing. Well, it would be a sin if these conditions coincided not to test the spinning rod on the sea coast. And while freshwater predatory fish are “sick” after spawning, sea fish, on the contrary, become more and more active and delight with the diversity of species composition. The testing ground for the model CRX-S732UL 0.4-5 grams of steel: the embankment of Sevastopol (Artbukhta), one of the sea piers of Sevastopol, Balaklava Bay, the embankment of Alushta and the beach of the German beam, which is located between the villages of Kacha and Orlovka. A little about the dry characteristics, visual contact and tactile sensations of the Crostage CRX-S732UL spinning rod: The length of the model is 221 cm, which is quite sufficient for shore fishing within the range of cast baits according to its test. I would even say that this length is optimal for various coastal conditions, because in casting there will be no strong “losses” compared to longer brothers in the series, and in a “densely populated” embankment with a spinning rod of shorter length there is less risk of someone hook at the moment of casting. In completely wild places, the banks of which are overgrown with bushes and overhanging tree branches, it will also be uncomfortable to work with a long spinning rod. For those who care about the flight range of the bait, I’ll give you some statistics: 1 gram of tungsten with a piece of Marakuevsky worm flies out to 19 m, the same bait with 2 grams of tungsten flies out to 31 m. I note that the flight range of the bait is influenced by more than 10 factors, such such as the diameter of the cord, the volume of the spool, the quality of winding the cord, the height of the spinner, casting technique, etc. Therefore, the above data are more or less my subjective indicators. Let me just say that the measurements were taken with a Shimano Soare BB C2000PGSS reel on which a Daiwa Gekkabijin cord with a diameter of #0.2 was wound;

The spinning rod's action is declared as Extra-Fast. For those anglers who associate this action with a “peg”, I will say that this is not the case in this model, this is not an Aji series. The spinning rod is very lively. Having trotted the spinning rod, almost the entire cone of the blank is set in motion right up to the butt. However, do not think that this is parabolic. The spinning rod blank, including the tip, falls into place very quickly, as befits rockfish sticks. This allows you to perform a sharp long-distance cast, animate the bait with the very tip of the tip and cope with landing relatively large fish, preventing it from getting into stones or water thickets;

Test rod, as mentioned above, 0.4-5 grams. I will write about the baits used below; All Fuji fittings, including rings with the exact inscription in the spinning rod’s passport “Fuji Alconite Ring K series-Frame”. large ring Crostage NEW For those who use this kind of spinning rods in microjig fishing in the cold season, information on the internal diameter of the tip rings may be useful. All 4 top rings, including the tulip, have an internal diameter of 2mm. The length of the handle is 31 cm, the length of the Butt Grip, also known as Rear Grip in Russia, is 7 cm. This length of the handle allows for very comfortable operation of the spinning rod with a brush. By the way, these parameters have not changed compared to the “old” version of Crostage. The handle itself is made of EVA and looks very elegant. This look is especially given by the conspicuous metal reel seat nut with a carbon insert. The butt of the spinning rod up to the first ring has a beautiful cross-winding, which was not present on previous cross-stages. It gives the form additional power, and at the same time performs a decorative function. The spinning rod was tested with two reels: Shimano Soare BB C2000PGSS 190 grams and Daiwa Luvias 07 2500 220 grams. With such ranges of reel weights, the tackle is well balanced, despite the fact that visually 2500 luvias seems large for this spinning rod. Testing the new Major Craft Crostage in the field:

One of the first “outings” with this spinning rod was night fishing for horse mackerel and sea bass. Lures were used mainly in 1 and 2 gram weights. I liked that the soft tip of the spinning rod makes it possible to set the correct play for a light-weight bait, and also by the very tip of the spinning rod you can easily track the bait touching the bottom, however, starting from a weight of “+/-” 1.7 grams. Another bonus of a painted top is that when it gets dark, the white top is clearly visible. Despite the tactile sensitivity, when the mackerel behaved extremely passively, its gentle bites were clearly visible at the tip of the spinning rod. Crostage is very good at catching fish. Due to the average action in dynamics, when most of the blank is included in the work, the soft lips of horse mackerel and perch do not tear at the moment of resistance. Of course, we can’t talk about 100% implementation of bites, but with this spinning rod there was a minimal number of bites. Despite the solid tip type, the model is not blind, as many people believe. And even though everyone has their own concept of sensitivity, I will say that even the most gentle bite of horse mackerel was noticeable. As for directly tapping on the bottom, alas, there is no such thing. Firstly, again, a solid model, secondly, the structure of the spinning rod, thirdly, its class. Much depends on the individual sensitivity of the angler’s hand, the type of bottom, wind, type of bait, etc., but sometimes the touch of the bottom of a bait with the same 2 gram load is easier to see at the tip of the spinning rod. What I can say with confidence is that the bite will be felt at any distance the bait is thrown, and I repeat that the model is not deaf. What makes you consciously choose the CRX-S732UL over, say, the CRX-T732L? The answer is simple: it is better suited for a classic “micruhi”. Despite the same lower test of 0.5 grams, the S732UL model will definitely cope better with jigs of this weight. This spinning rod is softer, it will be more comfortable for them to set the action of the bait on the lower weights and the blank will work better for catching a variety of small fish. When testing the new spinning rod, I used a jig weight of 0.6 grams. Personally, I liked how it is possible to set the action of a jig of such weight with the tip of a spinning rod. Although it is worth noting that for exceptional “mormyshing” other spinning rods with a softer action are better suited, for example, the same Major Craft Trapara or Nextino (area) with a top test for baits up to 3 grams. When laskir (sea crucian) began to become active, it was interesting to check how this crossage model would cope with this particular fish. After all, the weasel is a very lively fish with a hard mouth that cannot be penetrated by a soft spinning rod and, as a result, there will be many escapes. The next test for the spinning rod was fishing for weasel and roulena. Again, the main bait weights used were 2-3 grams, which I would classify as a “very comfortable weight” for working with this model. After catching several sea crucians, it became clear that the new Crostage leaves no questions when it comes to hooking, and due to its structure, you don’t have to worry too much about landing even large fish. One of the last fishing trips pleased me with the variety of fish caught, both on jigs and spoons. I especially devoted my last fishing trip to fishing with various types of spoons weighing from 1.2 to 3.6 grams with a Marukyu Power Isome worm. I liked how the spinning rod copes with this type of bait. For rock fishing, I use special weighted spoons. When catching weasel in the sea using spoons, I do not use uniform fishing. It is important for me that at the moment of “dragging” the oscillator along the bottom, it is possible to set the so-called smooth “trembling”/tossing of the bait with the tip of the spinning rod. At the same time, if the spinning rod has a soft action, it is more difficult to set the desired animation. In this case, Crostage CRX-S732UL set the animation as I wanted. In conclusion, I would like to note that the spinning rod copes well with lures at the top of the test range, and I deliberately did not try anything higher, although a small margin of safety is felt. Personally, I liked the spinning rod. I would use it for fishing where there is no need for ultra-long casting and you need to work with baits weighing 1-3.5 grams. As for me, this is a comfortable weight for lures for this model. In addition to its rockfish purpose, this rod is a good micro-jigging tool and will come in handy when in some places for perch fishing conditions dictate that you “get off” from 2 grams and switch to a 0.5-0.8 gram jig.

The spinning rod is neatly assembled, has excellent performance characteristics and a beautiful design. If we talk about the minuses, then you can make a complaint to the manufacturer about the case: the sections are not separated and it’s a little unpleasant on the soul when two parts of the spinning rod are in one fairly spacious compartment and, to put it mildly, interact with each other during transportation. Still, it's a wrapper and the contents overall turned out very well. Being in the middle price range, Crostage spinning rod has the basic operating properties of the top series, which will help you not only enjoy fishing, but also take prizes in various fishing tournaments.

Advantages: See comment.

Disadvantages: None yet.

I took it specifically for long-distance casting of baits up to 30 g, mainly for sea fishing with a bombard of 25-30 g... when a garfish or horse mackerel is far from the shore and you need to throw it to it with a heavy bombard. Last year I bought this spinning rod for a friend, for He is satisfied with these same goals, and therefore took it for himself this year. Pros: for a length of 2.74, quite acceptable weight of 147 g, good casting range, because RF system; The first ring on the butt is large in diameter and works quite well with the Daiwa 3012 reel.

Pros: I like everything. Disadvantages: no disadvantages, except that there is no hookkeeper, I had to install it.

I really like spinning. in combination with a light 185g reel and a thin 0.25 grid cord, the result was an ideal tool. (I caught more expensive ones) working weight 2-3g tungsten flies very far. I fish in summer and winter. If I upgrade to a higher class, the price tag will be at least 3 times more expensive.

Purchased for microjigging. The other day I tested a spinning rod on the water. I didn’t expect it, but I had to get used to it. At first, I couldn’t make high-quality long-distance casts. I worked out 2-3g of weight. Tested with cord 0.6 PE and nanofil 008. Reel ABU Ora 2sX20. The side wind was very disturbing, the sail was not the right word. I can say from the spinning rod that it doesn’t like hard throws. Otherwise, I liked everything, got my hand full, everything fell into place. Conclusion: Each spinning rod has its own character IMHO.

I concluded for myself that for such weights I would take a slightly smaller reel (I settled on Revros MX2004) and a 0.4 PE cord, I’ll leave the ABU Garcia at 4-6 grams, 0.6 PE is what I need. There was a discharge of water and currents into the channel there wasn’t, but the water was very cloudy. I rinsed all the rubber, I thought I wouldn’t see the fish. I left zero with a 5cm select (vibro tail color 888), 4 perches grampo 100. A little off topic: I didn’t like the nanofilm at all.

Advantages: relatively inexpensive for gear of this class; -light, sensitive; -casting range; -high quality assembled, but in general there are only solid advantages. The design is also okay.

Disadvantages: A case from one compartment, for an ultralight spinning rod, when both compounds are constantly in contact and collide with each other - this is nonsense. I immediately transferred it to another case, with 2 compartments (luckily I found a suitable one at home). There is nothing to complain about about the rest. Well, is it not very convenient that the locknut flies off the thread every time when installing and removing the coil.

I haven’t been fishing with it for very long yet, but I can more or less evaluate it already. Sensitivity is very pleasing, it's true. On pebbles, sometimes 2 grams are tapped into the hand, on the river. 3 grams is almost always felt in the hand, like a knock or recoil. The cast is great. Recently a pike landed at 1.600, the rod worked without any problems at all, there were fears that it would just bite the 0.19 fly, but it worked out, I pulled it out.

At the same time, 50 grams of okushkov are also worked out. UPD. I also tried to catch chub with cranks, and it worked great too. Throws well, caught the biggest chub at 1.800 (shown in the photo). But it’s already quite difficult to hold on to something like this properly, it constantly went down into the grass, there wasn’t enough power reserve to somehow hold it back. There are no problems with kilograms.

Advantages: Excellent casting, very light spinning rod, very soft fishing, high-quality assembly

Disadvantages: a little “loppy”, but I don’t regret it, this is what I needed, but what’s offensive is that the cover is at least 2 cm wider, and it would have been normal to put it in, but you’re exhausted when you put it back.

Throws very well, on a #0.6 fence, a jig of 3 grams + 3″ bait flies at 35 - 40 meters (this is if you invest in casting, if you don’t invest 3 - 5 meters less in casting), excellent work with walkers, soft tip does not allow the bait to lose its play, the fishing is very soft, the spinners are also great, the wobblers are only feta and crankbaits. Excellent for chub fishing.

Advantages: Very “bullet” stick. I used it mainly for catching chub and asp ranging from 2.5 to 6 grams and wolves with castmasters and three-edges up to 12 grams. What was needed was a “catapult” for long-distance casting due to the serious difference in the weights of the baits. Disadvantages: case

Excellent fish ties. Among the trophies, there was a 1.6 kg lobate and a three-piece roaster. I used Sunline - PE Egi ULT HG 180m 0.5 and Varivas - Avani Eging Milky Premium PE 150m 0.6 with Mitchell - Mag Pro Extreme 2000 FD and Daiwa - Freams-11 2506 reels. It’s not clear on the jig yet. It starts to hit 4 grams in the hand with a one and a half inch vibrating tail (it was chasing perch). We haven't been able to run the top test yet.

My son gave me a rod from this series this summer. I don't know the price, but the quality is excellent. Color black, gray case included. All fittings are made of high-quality material from well-known brands. I fished all season, I'm happy with everything. I didn’t notice any shortcomings, it’s a very convenient and functional thing. I always recommend it to my fishing buddies. Grade:

I really liked this series from the Japanese manufacturer. The price is reasonable for all models. I was pleased with the modifications, but have not yet decided on a choice. It is necessary to select according to the fishing method and the weight of the bait. I always fish from a boat, so I need a good fishing rod with excellent sensitivity, comfortable and light. They let us down with the colors, the black color somehow doesn’t look right. I think everything else will be fine. Grade:

I am very pleased with the purchase of this brand of spinning rod. The color of the case immediately caught my eye - it was black. But still, the main thing for me is functionality, quality and price. I got it for 5990 at a discount. Overall, very pleased with the purchase. The Japanese manufacturer pleased me - the kit includes a carrying case, and I received an interesting wobbler bait as a gift from the store. Grade:

I purchased a rod from this line. Very pleased with the quality and functionality. I fished on the shore and from the boat, and went home with a good catch. It fits perfectly in the hand and feels comfortable. The color doesn't matter to me, I didn't notice any flaws. Grade:

Fedor, 34 years old

Note! According to anglers' reviews, the modifications of this series are good. They cope with a variety of baits and are also suitable for all fishing methods. Very comfortable, functional and light. The only thing that may not attract the fisherman is the color scheme (black predominates).
