Probably hundreds of articles have already been written, and I think it’s very difficult to surprise the reader with something fundamentally new - the bicycle was invented a long time ago, and variations in the color of the frame and the material of the spokes, as well as the number of reflectors, are the main points of contention in most fishing discussions on the modern Internet. It is, of course, possible to improve the performance characteristics, but the cost of this improvement is exponentially dependent on the result achieved, that is, improving the sensitivity of a fishing rod for each subsequent “sense-gram” will cost five to ten times more, provided that other characteristics remain unchanged form. Expensive, technologically advanced fishing rods will certainly be bought, but only a few, which means you have to get out and, without changing the cost of the product, play with its characteristics - reduce one thing in order to enhance another.

In my opinion, there are three main characteristics of a spinning rod for jigging.
The first and main thing is the ability of a spinning rod to transmit information about contact with the bottom, fish, or any other objects of the aquatic world. And here, in fact, there are only two ways - into the hand or at the end of the spinning rod. Sensitivity in the hand is much more informative, because it includes all sorts of scratches and catches of the perch, itching of a certain cable or rope along the cord, malfunction of the bait. At the end, you can confidently determine whether the bait has reached the bottom, its hardness, as well as confident fish bites, and even the play of sweeping wobblers such as cranks. This characteristic is quite firmly and linearly related to the reliability of the spinning rod, its endurance to mechanical loads and overloads. As a rule, the better the stick transmits information to the hand, the drier the form, which means the more carefully you need to handle it, trying to avoid overloading, cutting “over the head” in excess of critical angles for the form, and even light blows against the side of the boat or trees . But spinning rods with a large amount of binder perfectly withstand the abuse given above. I would put casting range in second place among the most important characteristics of a spinning rod for jigging. When it comes to shore fishing, not throwing one or two meters to the drop/spot/navel where the fish is standing can reduce the potential catch from amazing to complete zero. A good example for me was a river, 30 to 40 meters wide, with a relatively shallow depth, such that weights of more than eight grams were not required to break through the relief, but I only managed to get to the opposite bank around one bend with a slight narrowing of the riverbed. At the exit from the oxbow, on the very first step there was a bite - the fish stood on the very first drop, on the border of the current and the standing water of the oxbow. In similar places on my shore, the fish were, I suppose, knocked out, and the neighboring shore was untravelled, but I could no longer reach similar points until I returned here with a really catchy spinning rod, capable of casting eight grams where I needed it. My guess was confirmed, which I was incredibly happy about - I managed to catch three pike from similar points.

Another case was very memorable to me because of the intense resentment towards the circumstances and the inability to correct the situation. It happened at a dam site on the Gulf of Finland. We anchored in such a way that it stuck dead, and it was impossible to remove it without cutting the rope, and we, of course, did not have a spare anchor. Plus, the current here did not leave any options for rafting fishing, so we firmly decided to fish until the winner, fortunately the fish were clearly present, but unevenly distributed across the spot. Along the edges of the zone, we quickly picked up all the pike perch who dared to bite, and then the active fish concentrated in a very narrow corridor. The whole problem was that my partner threw me four or five meters and clearly put the bait in the fish’s mouth, but my spinning rod, which had a bell-shaped action and an amazing sense of smell, which no one needs in this fishing, just couldn’t reach the desired point. All that was left was to sit, get angry and gradually come to the conclusion that happiness is not only in “sensitivity”.

Maximus Black Widow 26 ML. It took me a year and a half to find the spinning rod that I use to this day. It would be untrue to say that I weighed it for a long time and chose it, no. I didn't even look into this price category. They just gave it to me at some point, and I took it to one of the first spring trips. The first impression was that it was incredibly light for a 2.6 meter long stick. After reading the annotation, I found out that it weighs a hundred and a half grams. After which, fortunately I was fishing with a good builder, we set out to figure out where he was so “airy” from. The answer was found immediately - the wall thickness was very small. “It will become fragile when hooked,” a friend diagnosed, but unexpectedly he was wrong, and a year and a half passed in love and harmony with a variety of hooks, landing hundreds of pike perch and, in addition, large bream and a good almost three-kilogram pike from an eight-meter depth.

The second impression was the casting. As a fan of very sensitive sticks with a fast action and a very average throw, I was very surprised when I was tearing out baits from the bushes on the opposite bank of the river. The throw turned out to be amazing; everything from ten grams flew especially well.

Around this time, the opinion began to form that I needed this particular stick for spring-autumn fishing for pike perch, where there is no need for incredible sensitivity, and the pike perch will convey sensations with its blow even through an aluminum spinning rod with monofilament. The weights when catching a fanged one just correspond to the test and the capabilities of this model, and an overload of up to 22-24 grams turned out to be absolutely acceptable and did not cause rejection of the stick.

Since then, three seasons of fanged fishing have passed, and the Maximus Black Widow spinning rod still firmly occupies its niche for jigging in the middle weights, as well as a place of honor between the seats on fishing trips.

Review of the Maximus Advisor 25MH spinning rod.

Advisor is a spinning rod that has greatly interested many fishermen since its appearance at the spring exhibition 2021. Inexpensive, moderately dry, but at the same time elastic and not bell-shaped blank, many liked it. As soon as they picked it up and started trying it out, people definitely had no desire to let go and put it back on the stand. A huge number of jig fishing enthusiasts came to the company’s stand every day and gathered near numerous new products. And the obvious choice was Zircon jig, Advisor, Gravity - these were the models that aroused the most interest. Advisor stood out most often among them. Moreover, both ordinary novice fishermen and seasoned fishing sharks.

Time has passed, passions at VDNKh have long since subsided, and more and more people have been asking themselves the question of the appearance of a tasty morsel on the shelves. The company announced the arrival of all new products in stock in mid-April, so many had to be patient to get their hands on it. Only a few can enjoy fishing at all, because... In most regions of the country there is a spawning ban on spinning fishing. Fortunately, in the Volgograd region you can legally fish in almost half of the reservoirs, so I would like to talk about my experience of using Advisor in order to make the task easier for those who have not yet decided, or want to hear feedback and decide on it in their choice.

So, let's begin. The first thing that catches your eye is the direction of the rod; up to this point there weren’t many jig rods in the range, so it was very interesting to try the Advisor for its intended purpose and compare your ideas about a jig spinning rod with what Maximus offers. I can immediately say that there was no disappointment. He happily demonstrated everything that was expected from this spinning rod on his first fishing trips. And thanks to the ban, fishing took place on the Volgograd Reservoir, here it was possible to fully load the stick, fish perfectly with a jig from the shore and at the same time fully reveal everything that was included in the spinning rod.

The first, most important thing that was needed was catchiness. Advisor coped with this task with a bang; my neighbors with longer sticks threw at about the same distance as me, which definitely made me happy. There is no need to fish with long “clumsy logs” 3 or 3.3 m long, and there is no need to go to the rocking chair before the trip so that your hands don’t hurt later from uncomfortable hours spent fishing.

It can boast such throwing ability thanks to its interesting structure, something close to Fast, but at the same time, during casting, the stick is perfectly loaded even with small weights at the beginning of the test, and does not fall at the declared tops. This system also helps when playing, it perfectly works out the jerks of even small predators, without tearing the lips, and delivers your trophy directly to your hands. Of course, you have to pay for such a system by the impossibility of sharp animations of jig baits in the upper limits of the test, but this is a purely individual disadvantage and for some, it can even work into the hands.

The second most important thing that was needed was tactile sensitivity. The reservoir in our area in May-June is a body of water where a careful poke at the bait is one of the most frequent bites. Moreover, such a bite is characteristic not only of small fish; often careful, respectable trophies also behave this way. The spring predator in these places lives at great depths and does not yet feed so actively, so it has to be clever.

The Advisor also coped well with this task, transferring even the slightest touches to the hand, while there is always room for action, because thanks to the structure of the stick, it is possible to visually control the tip. In strong winds this is very helpful and helps when fishing. And since on the reservoir, due to the large open spaces, the wind appears in a matter of minutes and blows in unpleasant directions quite often, you have to foresee such a development of events in advance, and Advisor is 100% suitable here.

The strength of this spinning rod was also tested a little thanks to the steep edges under which fishing is usually carried out. The most difficult thing here is to drag the fish through the rocky edge and not let it get away or break the line. I can’t say that with Advisor I managed to get a trophy, but I somehow can’t remember any offensive incidents during forceful fighting, or when uprooting through the edge.

Of course, the spinning rod has not been in use for so long and has not yet fully demonstrated itself, but I think that serious trophies with it are still ahead and it is only a matter of time. In the meantime, I would like to summarize the review. This stick has proven itself well in shore fishing, but at the same time has the prerequisites for a universal boat/shore spinning rod. When the ban ends, we’ll see, test it in fishing from a boat, and load it to the fullest. In general, Maximus produced a decent twig for the money. It is definitely worth paying attention to for those who have not yet decided on choosing a jig rod in the mid-price range - Advisor guarantees sensitivity, throwability and non-draining!

Maximus Advisor Jig is a series of spinning rods created specifically for jig fishing in difficult conditions. The rods have all the necessary set of characteristics that this type of fishing will require. They are characterized by high rigidity and power sufficient for easy fighting with a trophy. Durable blanks perform well during fishing. ImS grade graphite was used for their manufacture. The series is equipped with lightweight KR-SiC guides in anti-twist Tangle Free frames, a reel seat with good sensors and a spaced handle made of EVA, which reduces the weight of the spinning rod. I think comments are unnecessary. The spinning rod has a classic* (quite long and comfortable) jig handle, VSS reel seat from Fuji and SIC guides. Weight from 124g to 176g. Powerful, balanced, fairly light - perhaps this is how I would characterize them.

Pros: Lightweight, fits perfectly in the hand. Sensitive. Disadvantages: There are simply none!

When buying, I doubted the right choice for a long time! But when I received it, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality! On my first fishing trip I felt all the delights of this stick. Build Extra fast. I tried Twitch and it worked. Jig, I did it. Casting with him couldn’t be more enjoyable! In general, I'm delighted. I didn't make a mistake. I put 5 grams on it, in principle you can catch it. Above the weight, I can already feel the bottom inside and out!

Advantages: Good sensors and light weight. Disadvantages: The balance is shifted forward due to the light handle.

I tried to compare them side by side with the Dreamer-X 902M. According to the test, they are identical, the only slight difference is in length. The sensors are close, but the Dreamer-X 902M is somewhat drier and has better balance. The top starts to win back from 5 grams. Tactilely felt - 7 grams. Considering the cost of the spinning rod, even in comparison with Dreamer-X - 5* rating.

Advantages: Light weight, good casting range, sensory capabilities. Disadvantages: Due to the short handle, the balance is greatly shifted forward

Initially, the spinning rod was taken for jigging in the conditions of the lower Volga. However, the tests took place in conditions beyond the lower range with baits from 5 to 18 grams. Tactile sensitivity starts at 10 grams. 18 can already be done with your eyes closed. But the balance is strongly shifted forward when using the Riobi Exia 2000 coil.

Pros: Very light for its test, perfectly balanced. Disadvantages: None for me.

I received the Maximus Advisor Jig 25H spinning rod today, so I’m sharing my first impressions. The spinning rod has a pleasant appearance, is assembled flawlessly, and, as they say, fits the hand +++. The blank is moderately hard with a sensitive tip and is definitely not a count. I paired the spinning rod with Tim Dubna (Rhodes champion) TD - 842N.

Comparing these two spinning rods, I can say that their action is extra fast, etc. seemed a little tougher. T.D. longer by 2 cm (2.55 m versus 2.53 m for Adviser) and heavier by 13 g (154 g versus 141 g - weighed). T.D. a wonderful stick, and judging by my comparative feelings, the Adviser is in no way inferior in terms of performance characteristics, and the spinning rods will only complement each other in fishing conditions that are slightly different downstream. Spinning is perfect for jig fishing in the middle Volga with great depths and medium currents. I really liked the spinning rod for quite reasonable money! I’ll add: I’ve already gone fishing and from the test I can say that it works on the bottom from 14g, on the top from 60g. honest, with overload, neatly without fanaticism.
