Brest region, Ruzhany district, Lake Papernya

Lake Papernya in the Ruzhany region is an excellent option for novice travelers. Silence, clean air, fishing.

Not ready for a complete break from civilization? We recommend entering from the Ruzhany sanatorium. All conditions have been created on the shore for the capricious townspeople to relax. There is a children's playground, beach, barbecue facilities, and gazebos. On the territory of the sanatorium you can feed the squirrels. They are almost tame here.

Stock up on provisions with the voracious swans in mind. Romantic birds, accustomed to additional rations from vacationers, have a completely earthly appetite. Some trusting individuals come to land. There is a chance to take a closer look at the bird.

You can rent a boat and take a boat trip.

Not sure your kids are ready for an overnight stay in a tent? Not far from the reservoir there is a hotel where you can comfortably spend the night.

At the same time, the region's urban population is 62.3%, rural - 37.7% (2003). Five reasons to visit the Brest region

1. Discover the unknown Brest Fortress

Many Belarusians know this legendary fortification from the “front side”. But besides the memorial, located on the outskirts of Brest, there are many forts that are not shown to tourists. Each of them is interesting and unique in its own way, especially the V Fort in Gershony. Some enthusiasts lead excursions along them, but if you wish, you can stock up on copies of old maps and go on a search yourself, turning this activity into an exciting quest.

The fifth fort in Gershony
Fortunately, many forts are surrounded by forest and are not so easy to find. But you shouldn’t climb inside, for several reasons. First of all, it is unsafe, because after decades without proper maintenance, even the most reliable engineering structures begin to fall apart. In addition, some forts are favored by bats, which can gather there in thousands for the winter. Don't bother animals unnecessarily.

2. Find out the history of the Buge Golenders

The urban village of Domachevo is known primarily for the border crossing located here. However, it was in this settlement that, more than 400 years ago, one of the first Protestant communities in Belarus appeared - Neudorf and Neubrov, founded by immigrants from Holland.

Both settlements were very successful, but in 1939 they found themselves in the border zone and the residents had to leave their habitable place. Their descendants created the Neudorf-Neubrov union. The Protestant past of Domachevo today is reminded by a monument erected in 2017, the foundation of the Lutheran Cathedral, destroyed shortly after the settlements were abandoned (some of the decoration can still be seen in the Church of St. Luke), as well as some tombstones in the local cemetery.

3. Visit the places where your favorite films were filmed

Surrounded by forest, the Dubica railway station is a favorite among filmmakers. It was she who served as the setting for such films as “The Hunt for the Gauleiter”, “Cadets”, “Saga of the Khanty”, “Brest Fortress”, “Role”. Why not try to find those very places that you have already seen on the screen once, without even suspecting that they are in Belarus?

4. See unique landscapes

The Pribuzhskoe Poslesie reserve, which is part of the international biosphere reserve, is famous for the abundance of sand dunes located along the rivers. Floodplain forests and plant communities of sandy meadows, rare for Belarus, have also been preserved here. The combination of these landscapes, which can be seen while hiking, rafting or cycling along a specially designed route, gives this area a special charm.

It is also home to many rare species, including the majestic chinstrap. This fern, which can reach a height of 2.5 m, is found only here in Belarus. Those who see its thickets for the first time often have the feeling that there is a real Jurassic Park around.

5. Become a participant in historical reconstruction

The Nemtsevich Estate Museum, located in the village of Skokie, is known not only for its exhibition dedicated to the life of the nobility. Real balls and other cultural events are held here. The park around the former estate occasionally becomes the site for reconstructions of events that took place in the vicinity of this village during the First World War. It was then that the estate was seriously damaged, so its restoration was required, which was completed in 2006.

Want to stay for a week? There are several recreation centers near the lake. Book your seats in advance.

Yaselda

Yaselda

Yaselda also belongs to the rivers flowing through the Brest region. Its total length is approximately 240 km, at the end the Yaselda flows into Pripyat.

Here anglers have the opportunity to catch:

  1. Carp;
  2. Pike;
  3. Burbot;
  4. crucian carp;
  5. Roach;
  6. Podleschika.

Sometimes on Yaselda, fishermen come across sturgeon and trout, which are artificially bred on Seltse (a lake located next to Yaselda) and accidentally end up in the river. Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy winter fishing here until March. After the ice melts, the floaters take their fishing rods and go fishing for peaceful fish. Ordinary potatoes or bread are usually used as bait. In April, you can catch roach and bleak with this bait; in March, you can actively catch crucian carp, which like to “walk” near the coastal thickets. Spinners who actively catch pike also find their place on Yaselda.

The most desirable prey for fishermen on the river in the summer is pike and perch. However, at the end of summer, the water in Yaselda begins to bloom, which is why predators often simply do not notice the bait passing by. Therefore, you should not count on active biting during this period.

With the onset of autumn, pike activity increases. Along with it, anglers actively catch carp and pike perch.

Brest region, Berezovsky district, Black Lake

www.korabli.eu

Do you want to take a break from the bustle of the city and spend time with your loved ones on the hot sand, soak up the sun and splash in the warm clear water? So why fly to Egypt? Here it is happiness, very close.

Black Lake is popular among experienced tourists. We offer four options for organizing everyday life: a recreation center, a boarding house, “savages” with tents on the shore, and renting a house from friendly local residents. The choice is yours.

Have the kids splashed around enough? Take a walk through the forest. Listen to the rustling leaves and birdsong. How long has it been since you tried blueberries straight from the branch? The local nature is generous. So don’t forget to grab a basket for berries and mushrooms. The male part of the family should worry about fishing gear in advance. Why? So that you don’t suffer from envy later, looking at the satisfied fishermen. Black Lake is rich in pike and bream.

Do you want something else? There is a real Russian bathhouse on the territory of the recreation center. Everything for you and your family.

Fishing on Mukhavets

The length of this river is about 100 km. In the second half of winter, when there is still ice on the river, large perch and asp are actively biting here. When the reservoir thaws, they most often hunt for fish using a Bolognese and bottom fishing rod. In summer and closer to spring, roach, silver bream, white bream, asp, and bream bite well. They are mainly caught using maggots and lard.

With the arrival of cold weather, the asp becomes active. But to catch it, you will need some experience, because the fish is cunning and perfectly sees everything that is happening on the shore. To do this you will have to disguise yourself well and have patience. In addition to asp, pike perch is also hunted at this time. Most often it is caught using live bait.

In winter, they make holes on the river closer to the center and catch pike and pike perch.

Brest region, Luninetsky district, White Lake

www.jvn.ru

40 km from Brest there is another pearl of Belarusian nature - White Lake. Young naturalists have the opportunity to observe real crayfish, see rare plant species that are listed in the Red Book (Nitella graceica, lake squirrel and others).

Help for worried mothers: the water is clean and clear. The reservoir is part of the reserve, so pay attention to the special places designated for lighting a fire.

If camping is not suitable for your family, book a room at the White Lake base.

Lakes and reservoirs

?

In the fishing “table of ranks” the first places are not only large, but also catchable medium-sized lakes and reservoirs, such as the artificial reservoirs Pogost and Lyakhovichsky, Lake Lyuban and others. – In Seltsa, they say, the oars feed the fisherman. You will be in the same place and you will not see anything. In June, many people pull out large pike perch and, unfortunately, do not release them. Others, according to the laws of amateur nobility, do not splurge on small change, but look for and find pike perch weighing one and a half kilos or more. – In January, on Lake Lukomskoye, you need to set up a tent firmly so that it doesn’t get blown away. The winds here in January are strong. With three candles, the hole in the tent does not freeze. There is a hole to the left of the spit, there is something to catch there.

Brest region, Pinsk district, Gornovo village, Gornovo lake

petbull.narod.ru

15 km from the capital of Polesie, Pinsk, in the village of Gornovo, a small but very beautiful lake shimmers in the rays of the sun. Not a bad place to relax with children. The lake is shallow, so lovers of diving and underwater fishing will find it boring here. But for little ones, this is a real fairy tale.

There is a fast food stall on the shore. The beach is almost wild, not equipped, but relatively clean. If you are not from Pinsk and want to spend a day or two on the lake, you can stay at the Podsolnukhi agro estate. A children's playground has been organized. Brest region, Belovezhskaya Pushcha, Lake Lyadskoe

wildlife.by

If the purpose of your trip is to search for the unknown and unusual, we strongly recommend visiting Belovezhskaya Pushcha, on the territory of which there are artificial lakes. Man-made reservoirs have become home to many species of animals and birds. You have a chance to watch the white heron, white-tailed eagle and other representatives of the Red Book. This is a real Zootopia.

The largest lake on the territory of the reserve is Lyadskoye. Fishing here, according to eyewitnesses, is excellent. Swimming is prohibited. But many tourists ignore the ban and immerse their mosquito-bitten bodies in cool water. If desired, you can organize a bike ride. Transport for hire is available.

Setting up tents in a landscaped area, namely a campsite, is somewhat problematic. Tourists prefer to spend the night in agricultural estates located near the Pushcha. And this is rather a plus. By evening, you really want to hide from annoying hosts in the form of mosquitoes and other blood-sucking creatures.

Story

The most ancient sites of primitive people that were found in the Brest region during archaeological excavations date back to 10 thousand BC. The written history of this region begins in 1017, when Berestye was first mentioned on the pages of the Novgorod Chronicle, which during its history managed to be the center of an appanage principality until it became part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 20s of the 14th century. Even then, the advantageous position of these lands contributed to the development of trade.

In 1794, when the third partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth took place, the Brest lands became part of the Russian Empire and were included in the Slonim province. The most important stage in their development was the construction of the Brest Fortress, which took place in the 1830s. As a result, the city was moved to a new location, but at the same time it became an important transport hub. In the surrounding lands, the road network began to rapidly develop, there was a noticeable influx of specialists in a variety of fields, and an industrial boom began, which was facilitated by the construction of a highway and railway connecting Brest with Moscow.

However, even such a powerful fortress could not prevent the Kaiser’s troops from occupying these lands in August 1915. It was in the village of Skokie, on the territory of the Brest region, that the headquarters of the German commander of the Eastern Front was located. The infamous Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was prepared there. Then these lands became part of Poland as part of the Brest povet.

Monument at the German cemetery in the village of Tomashovka
Only in 1939 they were annexed to the BSSR, and in January 1940 the Brest region arose, which was one of the first to suffer after Germany attacked the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941. Despite the fierce resistance of the defenders of the Brest Fortress, it did not take much time to completely occupy it.

Residents of the Brest region had to wait for liberation until July 1944, when the Brest-Lublin offensive operation was launched. Soon after this, restoration of the destroyed economy began. Over time, this area managed to regain its status as one of the most industrially developed in the Brest region, which it still retains.

On December 22, 2001, the Brest region received its own coat of arms. It is based on the so-called Varangian shield. Its lower part is represented by beveled stripes, in which red and green colors alternate, which symbolizes the border pillars, and the upper part is occupied by an image of a bow on a blue field, which serves as the coat of arms of Brest. The wavy silver belt running in the middle is the Bug River.

Brest region, Pinsk district, Botovo village, Pogost reservoir

gradvert.com

The Pogostskoye Reservoir in the Pinsk region is famous for its excellent fishing and incredible beauty. Is the male half of the family in doubt? Pike perch, bream, perch, pike, ide. The argument is exhaustive. If spending time with the “savages” is your family tradition, Pogost is simply an ideal place for communication and relaxation.

Are you not attracted by birdsong in the morning and frog concerts at sunset? You can stay at one of the agricultural estates in the nearest village of Botovo. In any case, you and your family are guaranteed a memorable vacation.

Paid fishing

More and more reservoirs in the Brest region are finding owners. Paid fishing has become a separate topic on fishing forums. They often write about the pay zones “ Polesie ”, “ Old Village ”, about the ponds in the fish farms “Loktyshi”, “Selets” and some others. – On the Old Village in May the bite is only in the morning. After 10 o'clock there is calm until the evening. They say that crucian carp 400-600 grams willingly bite on the worm here. . There are individuals with eggs. It’s not a pity to take them, since this is not a body of natural reproduction. – The ponds of the Volno are widely popular. There are many reviews. Lots of fish in stock. However, a successful result requires a lot of patience. The fish are fed and bite reluctantly.

In Belarus, the Brest region is considered a region in which there is where and there is something to catch. They say that fishing is the most labor-intensive form of recreation. But also the most productive - every amateur will subscribe to this. Author: Pike.Pinsk©

What to bring from Brest region

There is no shortage of souvenirs in Brest. Among them, a special role is given to traditionally military topics. However, on the eve of the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the city, new motives for souvenirs appeared. But the idea of disassembling the Brest Fortress for souvenirs (especially those forts that are not looked after) is far from the best.

Agricultural estates often offer their own products: from honey to herbal teas, which are harvested in protected areas. This is a great way to take a piece of the Brest region with you.
