With the drop in water level, which the fisherman must monitor, the pike leaves its summer camps: oxbow lakes, small channels, and at first concentrates on the holes and first edges adjacent to their entrances. That’s where you should look for it, both when fishing with fry and with a spinning rod. In such places, from one point you can catch 3-5 individuals at once, and after a while others will take their place. This is how the hierarchy works in the pike world - a good place is never empty, one individual is replaced by another. Usually these are fattened 0.5 - 2 kg individuals, which all summer grazed in grassy shallow areas among the growing fry. Large pike move to deeper snags adjacent to the riverbed; here it will be very difficult to reach it without a boat. Its main food is bream, roach, roach, and not this year's fry. Use large baits if you are determined to catch a trophy.

When fishing in snags, first of all, your arsenal should include silicone baits on an offset hook and foam rubber fish, which can easily pass through rubble. When fishing on dumps and spits, large streamers, a regular jig on a Cheburashka equipped with a double, and an oscillating spinner perform well. From the shore, and at shallow depths, it is reasonable to use large “spinners” - Blue Fox and Mepps. Perch fishing in August

The perch bite in August is excellent. The fry has grown to the “delicious”, optimal size. The striped one forms huge flocks at this time and hunts for it together. This is accompanied by lively chases, slurping sounds, and sometimes in excitement the predator even flies ashore.

The best bait in such “cauldrons” is small perch spoons, although when the perch “drives” it bites on almost everything. For more effective fishing, use tackle with a garter of 1-3 large flies, or offset hooks with small silicone, tied above the jig head.

When fishing from the shore, use a retractable leash, which allows you to make a long cast and correctly guide the bait. In overgrown areas, among vegetation, use Carolina rigs and surface baits - poppers. Fishing with them is especially exciting and exciting.

Large perch, humpback fish, go out hunting early in the morning and try to stay away from the shore. And smaller perch generally do not pay attention to the time of day and pounce on the bait almost around the clock.
