Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery

The Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery is the oldest operating monastery in Russia. It was first mentioned in the “Tale of Bygone Years” in 1096, when Oleg proposed “putting the Holy Savior in the monasteries” of the deceased Prince Izyaslav Vladimirovich.
