What is found in Tyumen reservoirs

Crucian carp, especially golden carp, are very resistant to winter death, when there is little oxygen left in the water. All other fish suffocate and die, and the crucian carp remains the only inhabitant of the lakes. It’s not for nothing that such lakes are called crucian lakes. Crucian carp survives even in reservoirs that freeze to the bottom. Sometimes it even freezes into ice, but in the spring it thaws, comes to life and swims as if nothing had happened. Gold and silver crucian carp usually live together. It has been noticed that silver crucian carp has one interesting feature - entire lakes are inhabited only by females, there are no males or they are extremely rare. The eggs of silver crucian carp are fertilized by the milk of gold crucian carp and even minnows, but from such eggs only “silver” females emerge. In crucian carp lakes, quarries filled with water, in deep ditches, small minnow fish are found in large numbers.

It also tolerates death well, but is considered a weed and harmful, as it eats the eggs of crucian carp and other valuable fish.
At the end of the 1970s, another weed fish, the verkhovna, entered the reservoirs of the Tyumen region from beyond the Urals.
Like the minnow, it eats the eggs and larvae of other fish, literally emptying water bodies. In some lakes of the Tyumen region,
cheesefish (peled
) and mirror
carp are artificially bred.
Before the war, salmon and sterlet were caught in Tours, but severe water pollution led to the disappearance of these species. Previously, there were no crayfish in the rivers near Tyumen
.
In 1821, they were moved from the Chusovaya River to the Iset River near the city of Shadrinsk, where the crayfish took root well and multiplied. Archimandrite Vladimir of the Tyumen Monastery decided to breed crayfish in the Tura River. In 1844, he brought 3,000 pieces from Iset and released them near the monastery at the mouth of the Babarynka River. A major flood in 1845 carried the crayfish down the Tour. Vladimir repeated the transplant in 1846, having previously built stone embankments on Babarynka, where the crayfish could take refuge during floods. The crayfish apparently took root well, if the German scientists O. Finsch and A. Brem, who visited the region in 1876, wrote that: “for the first time in Siberia we saw crayfish in Tyumen. They were brought from Tura, where they are bred artificially.” In the 30s of the 20th century, crayfish were found, albeit rarely, in Tura and Pyshma - then the water in them was still clean. Nowadays, due to severe pollution, crayfish are not found in the rivers near Tyumen, but they were found in some deep quarries, for example, at the Podem station, near the agricultural academy. And modern crayfish lovers continue to breed them near Tyumen. In the reservoirs there are amphibian frogs and newts, mollusks - pond snails (gastropods) and toothless (bivalves), arthropod crustaceans (cyclops, daphnia, amphipods-mormysh) and insects (diving beetles, water lovers, spinners, water bugs, larvae of dragonflies, mosquitoes and etc.). Worms live in reservoirs: leeches, hairworms, etc. Algae are very diverse. In summer, in warm water, they multiply intensively and cause the water of lakes and ponds to bloom. In the first decade of the 21st century, Tyumen decided to seriously engage in breeding various breeds of fish. Over the nine months of 2014, 950 tons of fish were grown in regional farms, which is 2.2 times more than last year. At the beginning of November 2014, containers with 80 thousand fertilized trout eggs arrived in Tyumen from Sochi. This cargo was ordered by the fish farming enterprise "Pyshma-96". This company specializes in industrial pond fish farming. In ponds and indoor fish farming basins, specialists raise carp, sturgeon, sterlet, tilapia, silver carp, and grass carp.

Where to go fishing in Tyumen

The most famous rivers of Tyumen are the Irtysh, Ob, Tobol, Vakha, Tura, Tavda, Ishim. These reservoirs are almost never empty. On weekends there are a lot of fishing enthusiasts here.

The Irtysh River is rich in aquatic life and covers the territory of Russia, Kazakhstan and the Republic of China.

Lake Zaboshnoye is considered one of the most fertile and fishing places, where large carp, silver carp, and grass carp are found. Fishing in Chashchino will be no less interesting, where endless landscapes will create a specific atmosphere, allow you to relax and take a break from the bustle of the city, and a good bite will lift your spirits and awaken excitement. In this reservoir, the most common and frequently caught fish are predators (perch, pike). On Lake Yazykovo, fishermen may be lucky enough to catch fish weighing more than 1 kilogram.

In the vastness of the Tyumen region, tourists can catch an individual of very impressive size and weight. In particular, in Svetloe there are 15-kilogram pikes, as well as large perches and large crucian carp.

An unsurpassed place for guests to relax is the Tura River, which is ready to greet you with endless landscapes and a good bite. In the area of the lower mouth, fishermen use nets for fishing. It should be noted that the river bottom is muddy. When moving even in shallow water, it is important to adhere to safety measures, as you can suddenly fall knee-deep. It is best to use waders here. In the upper reaches of the Tura, gold is mined, so the fauna of this reservoir is gradually beginning to disappear.

There are whole flocks of sterlet in the Irtysh. The average weight of this fish reaches 1.5-2 kg. Sterlet prefers only clean water bodies.

The most frequently visited free fishing spot in the Tyumen region is Lebyazhye Lake, where grass carp and crucian carp predominate. Those who like to “hunt” rotan and predators flock to such reservoirs as Lake Andreevskoye and Cherkul.

Map of fishing spots

On the border of the Tyumen and Sverdlovsk regions there is a small lake Noskinbash. Often the purpose of fishermen’s visits to him is to catch a chebak. There is a sufficient amount of this fish here and large specimens are often found.

Not far from the village of Laitamak there is a lake called Krivoye by local fishermen. This is simply a paradise for spin fishing lovers. By hooking a medium-sized wobbler onto a spinning rod, you can safely count on catching a large pike. And with jig gear you can conduct a targeted hunt for perch.

Pike Lake, which is located very close to the Irtysh River, got its name for a reason - there are a lot of predatory fish here. Fishermen purposefully come to catch large pike and humpback perch.

In a tributary of the Irtysh River, near the village of Malaya Zerkalnaya, there is Lake Zalatitsa, which is very densely populated by large rotan and crucian carp. There are a lot of fish here, but little food, so the likelihood of catching a trophy specimen increases greatly.

A little to the right of the P404 highway is Lake Svetloye, which simply attracts spinning fishing enthusiasts. They come boats in search of pike and perch. And lovers of float and feeder fishing can only try their luck in catching tench.

Lake Marukhi, located near the E30 highway, is simply overflowing with crucian carp. It is caught using bottom, feeder and float gear. Local fishermen, in order to increase the chances of a big catch, use rubber bands with bottom feeders.

Almost on the border of Kazakhstan and Russia there is a small lake Peschanoye, visiting which fishermen focus on catching crucian carp and perch. If the first fish is caught using bottom and float gear, then for perch fishing, spoons and jig gear are most often used.

Free fishing spots

On the map of the Tyumen region you can find many reservoirs of various types, but not in each of them you can enjoy fishing. Some reservoirs are used for artificial cultivation of fish, and a certain fee will be required for catching them.

But there are many free reservoirs that are a real pleasure to fish. Not every local resident can tell you where to go fishing in Tyumen for free and effectively; all that remains is to watch the local fishermen and study the fishing spots on your own. The lakes of Tyumen attract special attention.

Lake Krivoye

There is a camp site on the shore of the reservoir; amateur fishermen from all over the country come here. Fans of active spinning will be able to fish here, and fishing with a feeder will also be successful. You can fish for pike, perch, and crucian carp.
