Peculiarities
The Pronya River has sections where the depth can reach 10 m, but the average is 6-7 m. The water in it is clean and the current is slow, so fishing here is one of the best in the country. It is worth noting that Pronya is a tributary of the Oka River, which is famous for its rich underwater world. Naturally, some species swim across from the main artery. Here you can find a variety of fish, even predatory ones, since the living and breeding conditions here are the most optimal.
Most often, pike perch, bream, ruffe, roach, and carp get caught in fishermen's nets. This is why the Mikhailovsky district is so popular. In addition to those listed, the river is inhabited by crayfish and mussels. It is worth noting that not only local amateurs fish in Prona, but also visitors from the capital, because this river is located only four hours by car from Moscow. You can get to any coast. In principle, throughout the entire channel the fish is perfectly hooked. But, as noted, it is best in the middle and lower reaches. You can fish while on the shore, as well as from a boat. Moreover, in these places the coastline is flat. Steep and high banks are only in the upper part. Basically, there are no forests on them, but reeds and shrubs grow. Both banks of the Pronya River consist of a cluster of hills that smoothly flow into one another. If you stand on one of them, you can enjoy the picturesque landscapes of the expanse from all sides. And in one of the villages located near Prony, fishermen organized their own society, which contains about 60 boats.
Geographical information
The length of the river is 336 km, the basin area is 10.2 thousand km², the average slope is 0.3 m/km, the average water flow at the mouth is about 50 m³/s.
On the Prona there are the cities of Mikhailov, Novomichurinsk, and the urban-type settlements of Oktyabrsky and Pronsk. Not far from the river is the city of Korablino.
The source of Proni is located in the village of Kostino, Ryazan region, near the border with the Tula region, east of Kimovsk and south of Mikhailov. The source lies on the northeastern slopes of the Central Russian Upland, on the watershed with the Don basin.
The river valley is narrow, the bed is winding and shallow. The bottom is muddy, rocky and sandy in places. The current speed is low. The banks in the upper reaches are steep, in the middle and lower reaches the Pronya flows along the Oka-Don Plain, the banks here are flatter. There are practically no forests along the banks.
In the upper reaches, the river describes a large loop to the city of Mikhailov, entering the Tula region. Beyond Mikhailov, the Pronya flows east, and in Pronsk it receives the Kerdy on the right. Below on the river there is another reservoir, created in the 70s of the 20th century for the purposes of the Ryazan State District Power Plant, built in the city of Novomichurinsk, located on the shore of the reservoir. Having passed Korablino, it turns north. A little lower, it receives its largest tributary on the right, the Ranova. The Pronya flows into the Oka River near the city of Spassk-Ryazansky. The lower reaches of the Perevles pier are navigable.
The food is mainly snow. Spring flood, summer-autumn low water. It freezes at the end of November and opens in April.
Fishing spots
Usually fishing on the Pronya River is carried out near the Ukhor settlements. The road there is unpaved, and if you take your time and go through many steep places and deep pools, you can go fishing and get a good catch (mostly predatory fish). There is also a good place for fishing in the village of Kolentsy, the road to which leads through a field. The fish are excellently caught in the pools of these zones. In the past there was a mill here, and now what remains of it is a dam, under which schools of fish swim. It can be caught using both non-living bait and live bait.
Downstream the Pronya (Mikhailovsky district) there are excellent fishing spots for many kilometers (even in whirlpools). Here you can easily catch predatory fish, less often crucian carp and roach. Catfish and carp also come here from Oka. The depth of these areas is small - mostly about three meters. In these areas there are bases for fishing and hunting, which provide boats and all the necessary equipment.
Place to rest
In addition to being in demand among fishermen, the Pronya River is also popular among tourists. After all, this is where there are excellent places to relax. Many residents of the capital and other big cities often want to find a corner to enjoy the splendor of the majestic Russian nature, at least for a few days, sit in silence, listen to birdsong, just breathe in fresh, unpolluted air, and watch the sunrise. It's surprising that such places exist so close to Moscow. During the period from May to October, the banks of Pronya are ideal areas for such a holiday. And, despite the fact that the water in the river is cold due to the springs, vacationers prefer to swim in it, because it is really very clean. When going to a depth of more than one meter, you can see not only the bottom, but also swimming fish.
Also, the Pronya River in the Ryazan region is also interesting for lovers of cultural recreation, since many historical and archeological monuments are located in its valley. For example, on the right side, in Izheslavl, there is a historical monument of the 6th-8th centuries. There are also three nature reserves - Central Chernozemny, Galichya Gora and Belogorye.
Fishing places in the Ryazan region
The Ryazan region is truly a fertile land for fisherman. The choice of places for quiet hunting here is huge: lakes, reservoirs, rivers. With such diversity, it is difficult to remain without a catch.
Fishing will be especially productive if in advance:
- explore the bottom topography;
- find out the habits of the fish you plan to catch;
- habitats and aggregations during the feast;
- in winter - a place of hibernation.
Fishing on the Oka in the Ryazan region
We invite all amateurs and professionals to go fishing and relax in excellent fishing spots on the Oka . The confluence of the two rivers creates unique conditions for a large number of rare and traditional fish.
Until the end of the 90s, the recreation center "Major Pronin" was a fishing base for a society of fishermen and hunters; over time, it was purchased and improved; newly built townhouses, cottages, a restaurant, bathhouses and other infrastructure appeared, which turned it from a fishing base into a comfortable one. a recreation center that allows fishermen and hunters to relax with their families.
The recreation center with fishing is located on the picturesque bank of the Pronya River, in a unique place - at the confluence of the Pronya and Oka rivers, one and a half kilometers from the confluence of the Pronya and the Oka. You can fish on Prona and Oka, which can be reached by boats that can be rented at the base. Fishing in the Ryazan region will give you great pleasure and a rich catch.
Fishing on the rivers
There are 890 rivers flowing in the Ryazan region, they are flat. About 40 species of fish live there. The average length is more than three kilometers. The largest rivers: Oka, Pra, Ranova, Moksha, Solotcha, Mecha, Vysha, Tyrnitsa, Pronya, etc.
The most promising place is the Oka River, it borders the Moscow region and reaches almost the Vladimir region. Fishing here is especially good in late autumn and summer. It is inhabited by about 40 different species of fish, but the most commonly caught are pike, pike perch, bream, asp, chub, rudd, perch, dace, and catfish.
The most catchy tackle for bream is a ring or feeder tackle. In fast currents, use a side fishing rod. On the feeder you can catch: sabrefish, ide, crucian carp, roach, and silver bream. The most catchable time is the beginning of spring, the end of autumn.
Pronya River: favorite places are areas located in the lower part of the stream. You can make a good profit from asp, ide, crucian carp, pike, and silver bream. There are catfish, burbot, pike perch. Carp is often found below. And what is especially important for a good bite is that there is little fishing pressure here.
At long distances, an asp can be caught on a spinning rod, and it bites well on a silver castmaster. Downstream, near the village of Kolentsy, there is also something to profit from. They drive through the large village of Aristovo, along the river. There are deep pools near the dam; these are excellent places for fishing.
Fly fishermen and spinners can catch ides, pikes, and molts in the return area and under the dam. Chub are caught using flies. In fast waters: ide, carp, asp, and sometimes catfish. At the confluence of the Prony and Oka, there are a lot of white fish, there is pike perch and asp. The boat will help in catching fish.
In a tributary of the Prony there is the Ranova River, which is very fishy. The villages of Kipchakovo and partly Knyazhnoe are the most promising places. The river itself is winding, with deep whirlpools and riffles. There are good plots of land near the village of Klyuchi.
There is a large bubbling spring nearby in the Prony floodplain. Cold spring waters mix with the river and here you can catch kilogram perch and bream using a spinning rod. Near Kurbatovo there is Mostya, from there to the confluence of the Ranova River and the Pronya River you can hunt for donka and spinning rods. In the pits you need to look for perch, pike, bream, and carp. On the riffles: chub, asp.
What can you fish with? The main thing is that they are not afraid to experiment, they fish with the wire, and they select baits knowingly:
- The catch will be especially good with rotating spoons equipped with a front loading. Lure weight: 5–12 g.
- In clear weather, in the shallows you need bait with a silver petal.
- On whirlpools and small riffles there is a spinner with a yellow color and a dim petal.
- In strong currents, fishing should be done with floating wobblers.
For large baits, the spinning rod is equipped with:
- blank, test from 9–30 g;
- coil 2500;
- braided 13 mm.
For small baits, use 0.22 mm monofilament or thin braid. For the fishing rod:
- rod 6–8 m;
- fishing line 0.15 mm;
- leash 0.15 mm.
About fishing on the Oka
The Pronya River is a very interesting and promising fishing spot. This is due to a number of reasons. This includes the many turns of the river before it flows into the Oka, and a large number of rivulets and springs flowing into the river, and the bottom topography and the presence of holes with a drop from 5 m to 10 m, and as you know, these are favorite places for fish. And if you take a boat to the confluence of the Prony and Oka, you will find yourself on the so-called spit, which is a “mecca” of fishing for both predatory fish and bream. Having reached the Oka, you will find yourself in its vast expanses; in these places it is wide and navigable; according to echthyologists, the river is home to 44 species of fish.
The most common are: pike fishing, pike perch fishing, bersh fishing, perch fishing, asp fishing, catfish fishing, burbot fishing, bream and bream fishing, carp fishing, roach fishing, crucian carp and other types of white fish. On the Prona and Oka there are also quite rare species of fish - tench, grass carp and silver carp, their population is very significant, since catching them using traditional methods is unlikely, which means there is no pressure. Therefore, anglers who know the secrets of catching them have a great opportunity to catch trophy specimens of these fish.
Catching predatory fish occurs in traditional ways - jig, retractable leash, jerking, trolling, plumb line, trolling, circles, girders, quok for catfish.
Catching white fish - float rod, feeder, donk, etc.
Autumn fishing is traditionally considered the most promising and guests of our fishing base prove this by willingly sharing fishing photos and fishing videos. In the fall, you can fish on Prona from boats, the shore, or comfortably sitting on the recreation center’s own pier, or take a boat to the Oka.
Fishing on the Oka in winter at our base will also give you great pleasure. The recreation center "Major Pronin" is located just 50 meters from the river bank, and this is the most comfortable option. Come to our base for a few days of winter fishing on the Oka River , and be at the hole early in the morning. There is no need to waste time on the road, and a hot breakfast, lunch and dinner at the base in conditions when the temperature drops below -10 C will give you additional strength and warm you up, and you will be able to devote more time to your favorite winter fishing.
Fishing in the spring, we are saddened by the spring ban on certain types of fishing . The spawning ban on the territory of Russia, and in particular in the Ryazan region in the spring-summer period, is valid from April 1 to June 10: “with all fishing gear, with the exception of fishing from the shore with one float or bottom fishing rod with a total number of hooks of no more than 2 pieces on the gear fishing from one citizen.” However, guests of the base are allowed to use rowing and motor boats and spinning fishing on Prona. Old-timers who have known spring fishing on the Oka for many years claim that fishing for bream, roach, ide, and silver bream is the most productive in spring fishing. Immediately after the ice disappears and until the beginning of May, you need to look for fish in the area of the islands within the mouths of the rivers flowing into the Pronya, where at this time there is the most food.
Summer fishing on the Oka and the expanses of Prony, the variety of fish species and types of catching them , beautiful sunny weather make fishing at this time probably the most favorite among fishermen . As you know, large bream and carp are caught well at this time. And although summer fishing for predatory fish is traditionally considered less catchy compared to autumn fishing, the trophies of our clients prove the opposite; the trophies they catch are amazing. During summer fishing on the Oka , large pike perch bite, catfish actively feed, asp go out into the riffles, and pike go out into shallow water early in the morning.
Spearfishing can bring many surprises to fans of this type of fishing. On Prona and Oka there are many places with slow currents, shallow water, and shallow holes where you can dive in search of large pike perch, catfish, pike, carp, and bream. In early spring and late autumn, spearfishing on Prona is more promising. In the second half of May, large fish return to the Oka after spawning. This is a great moment for spearfishing enthusiasts. Good places for underwater fishing on the Oka in summer can be areas with a smooth current, a shell-sand or pebble bottom, 2-3 meters deep, or near holes, 20 meters away from the shore.
Fishing on the lakes
There are approximately 175 large and small lakes in the region. Six large ones, with an area of 5 square meters. km., the rest less than 0.1 sq. km. There are especially many lakes in the northern part, where the Pra River originates. In all lakes the water is clean and transparent, you can even see fish swimming up to the bait.
White Lake is especially visited. Its area is 23.5 hectares, the greatest depth is 34.2 m. It borders with the Klepikovsky district and the possessions of the Shatura district (Moscow region). It is located five hundred meters from the Spas-Klepiki – Moscow highway, near the village of Dubasovo. It was formed in a natural depression, surrounded by forest.
It has a karst origin: a relief bottom, underground caves, underground wells, sinkholes, etc. Aquatic inhabitants: crucian carp, ide, perch, tench, pike, roach, ruff, loach, verkhovka, there are silver carp, lake trout, carp.
You can catch carp and silver carp with a spinning rod. It is better to fish from a boat in early autumn using a sandwich of worms and bread. Pike is hunted closer to the west using spinning rods, mugs, and winter girders:
- Zherlitsy are placed on underwater slopes, near the edges of aquatic vegetation - depth difference up to 10 m, along the edge of aquatic vegetation.
- In winter and early spring, ide, ruff, and roach are caught with a jig.
- Perch takes winter lures at a depth of 4–12 m, ide – up to 8–14 m.
Lake Seleznyovskoye has a unique karst origin, an area of 15 hectares is protected. Located on the highway to Kasimov, not far from the village of Seleznev. Area - 20.5 hectares, the water is darkish, has an admixture of peat particles, but is clean.
The greatest depth is in the north-west, reaching 15 m. Common species in this lake are: ide, crucian carp, perch, ruff, pike, roach, loach and even crayfish. What they catch and what they use:
- Roach - you need to first feed it, and then start fishing in the center of the lake, depth up to 3 m or near an overgrown shore.
- Small perch is caught mainly with a fishing rod; live bait, sweet boilies, maggots, and worms are used for bait.
- Large perch and ide are caught using a spinning rod and a white spinner. Especially in the spring, at dawn.
- Pike - taken for mugs, girders. Spinning rods are also quite good, with good equipment and suitable lures. Mugs are used in bad or rainy weather, weak wind, at the end of summer and until September.
- In winter , only small perch are usually caught using vertical lures; the bite is poor.
- In the spring , from the Laptev coast, in the southwestern part, you can fish for roaches and roaches up to 600 grams from a boat.
Reservoirs
It is worth remembering that in reservoirs, as the water level drops, the bite increases slightly, and decreases as the water level rises. The water level changes frequently: in spring and autumn it is replenished, in summer and winter it decreases. There are four reservoirs in the Ryazan region, let's look at the most famous ones.
Ryazan State District Power Plant - created in 1973 by blocking the bed of the Pronya River. The reservoir is extremely rich in carp, bream, crucian carp, catfish and pike perch. Doesn't freeze in winter. You can catch large and trophy specimens.
Pronsky - formed on the Pronya River. The moving part of the dam, intended for releasing water, is located near the Novomoskovsky district, in the village of Gremyachee. Its length is up to 26 km, its greatest width is 2 km. The area of the reservoir is 1600 hectares, depth is 4.6 m. Inhabitants: carp, pike, bream, crucian carp, and pike perch. The most interesting thing here is ice fishing, in the spring from a boat.
You can fish for perch:
- float rod: in spring, at a depth of up to 3 m, baits: worm, bloodworm.
- in the summer for mugs, spinning rod, fishing rod.
- in winter only with a jig. Bait - spoon, wobbler, bloodworm.
- at the beginning of winter, predatory fish bite on the fry, depth 2–3 m.
Pike walk around the entire perimeter in the spring, hide in the bays in the summer, and go to greater depths in the fall.
Roach loves quiet currents and bites well in the spring or on the last ice. Favorite places are the mouths of tributaries, the upper reaches. The best tackle is a float rod, or jig. In winter, bloodworms and wobblers are used for bait. In summer - worms, maggots. You need to look for it at the lock or at the bottom of the reservoir.
Paid fishing
There are many excellent recreation centers, fishing grounds, and fishing grounds scattered throughout the region, and close to the fishing grounds. Convenient for visitors. You can not only fish to your heart’s content, but also rent equipment, inventory, a boat, provide yourself with a comfortable overnight stay, hot meals, etc.
