What porridges are the best for crucian carp to bite on?

Methods for preparing porridge

Some may be surprised, but porridge is prepared depending on a particular river, pond or other body of water. There are no universal recipes, so those fishermen who hope that they can cook one porridge for all times are very mistaken. Experienced fishermen, through trial and error over a long time, have found something suitable for themselves that actually works. Although some of them note that even with a seemingly ideal dish for crucian carp, punctures sometimes occur.

There are a great many recipes for making porridge. Everyone believes that their way is the best.

However, the point is not even in the method, but in the form of the delicacy itself, which can be:

  • Salapinsky.
  • Millet with oatmeal.
  • Gorokhov.
  • Semolina with rolled oats.
  • Mamalyga.

They are all different, but each works well.

Preparing feed for crucian carp

You should be careful and know that bait for crucian carp is prepared in doses in the reservoir. And only after making sure that the mixture works, a large volume is prepared. Food for fishing with a fishing rod should be in the form of a dense ball, which, upon reaching the bottom, will gradually crumble. When fishing with a feeder, the density should be less. The mixes should come out of the feeder freely, forming a feeding table.

Every self-respecting fisherman has a recipe for making porridge for crucian carp. You can cook the same product in different ways, and it will work. Below are examples of the most common cereals and tasty mixtures for catching crucian carp, we recommend them.

Porridge When preparing porridge for bait, it is necessary to take into account the gradients, their weight, and the time it takes for them to brew.

The most common and easiest to prepare are pearl barley, semolina porridge, corn mixture, pea and wheat porridge. You can use breadcrumbs as a base.

Let's consider each type separately. Let's find out what needs to be put into the mixture and how long it takes to prepare.

For this mixture we need 0/5 kg of pearl barley, which needs to be poured into a thermos, add one tablespoon of honey and pour boiling water over it. After the mixture has infused, which is at least 3 hours, everything is filtered, poured into a sieve, and laid out on a towel: the mixture should dry for some time. Then take 0.5 kg of breadcrumbs and crushed wheat cookies. Cocoa powder and crushed flax seeds can be used as a flavoring.

Corn

The product in question is thoroughly mixed with wheat flour in a 3/1 ratio. Water is added so that balls can be formed for casting. Take a saucepan, fill it with water, bring to a boil.

Place the balls in the water: cook for no more than 12 minutes. Remove the balls and allow time to cool. Let's pack and get ready to go fishing. If you want to use flavorings, we recommend adding dill or anise oil. Perhaps this is the best bait for insatiable crucian carp.

You need to add oil directly on the shore of the reservoir, before throwing the balls.

A simple recipe is as follows:

  2. If you have to fish in the current, you can add clay or soil from the river bank for viscosity. This way the bait will not immediately disintegrate.
  3. It is important to use water from the exact reservoir where you will be fishing for crucian carp.

You can use another recipe, but it is more complicated. Recipe No. 2:

  1. You will need to mix breadcrumbs - 500 grams, 300 grams. Bran and 200 grams of seeds.

  3. Stir the finished mixture in warm water, after adding a couple of tablespoons of honey. When the honey dissolves, gradually pour bait into the water.

Fishing for crucian carp in autumn

Fishing for crucian carp in autumn

The favorite delicacy of crucian carp in the fall is maggots and bloodworms, but you need to remember that a lot depends on how you hang them on the hook.

The maggot must be pierced completely, from tail to head, while the nose of the hook should peek out.

If you plan to catch large and golden crucian carp, fish with bloodworms, choose hook No. 2.5-3.5. The bloodworm must be firmly placed on the hook over the head, but at the same time it must remain alive for some time.

It would be a very good idea to combine baits, so you can put bloodworms and maggots on one hook, but I had a good bite when combining maggots and several dung worms.

But if you don’t fasten the attachment well, it will come off as soon as you cast the spinning rod. Sometimes I lubricate the hooks with vanilla for scent, although the intensity of the bite does not increase much.

On some reservoirs where I had to fish, not very large crucian carp pecked at a fly, grasshopper, wasp, large crucian carp really likes it when the bait is moving, but this already depends on the fish itself, the reservoir in which it lives, and the weather.

It is worth highlighting that crucian carp loves to feast on “dough”; the easiest option I tried was mixing bread and potatoes; mixing such products can be taught to a child; I was able to personally teach my nephew.

I think the best test is mixing halva and flour, adding water until you get a dough. Whenever I go fishing, I can’t do without this test.

My “colleagues” like to make a nozzle that smells, they take a piece of bread, drop a couple of drops of sunflower oil and vanilla on it. This bait has a great smell and attracts large crucian carp.

Millet with oatmeal

This porridge is no more difficult to prepare than the previous one.

Namely:

  1. Take 1 glass of millet, which is washed, and then 1 liter of water is added to it.
  2. Next, you should prepare half a glass of rolled oats.
  3. The millet must be stirred constantly so that it does not burn. After it is boiled, oatmeal is added to it.
  4. The resulting mixture is quickly stirred and literally after a minute is removed from the heat.

In order for the fish to bite better, it is recommended to add a little more bait, which is sold in the store, to the chilled porridge. It is called “bait for crucian carp.” Carp bait is also suitable if the first one is not available.

How to cook the best porridge for crucian carp

To fish in a specific body of water, you need to take the appropriate, properly prepared porridge. But, unfortunately, there are no universal recipes to make the ideal dish for crucian carp. Each recipe needs to be tested in practice and choose the one that is most suitable for a particular location, weather and type of fish.

There are quite a lot of ways to prepare porridge for crucian carp with your own hands. But among them it is worth highlighting several popular recipes that are used by most experienced fishermen:

  • Salapinskaya;
  • millet with oatmeal;
  • pea;
  • semolina with rolled oats;
  • hominy.

choice of porridge for crucian carp
One of the most effective for catching crucian carp is oatmeal with millet.

It is important that when cooking the porridge does not burn, but also does not turn out to be very liquid. It must be simmered over low heat, stirring constantly to prevent soot from forming. If the porridge burns, it will not give the result you expect.

Pea porridge

Peas attract crucian carp well (read how to steam peas for fishing). Therefore, it would be good to cook this porridge in a water bath.

Pea porridge

Everything is done in this order:

  1. Pour 2 cups of cereal into a small container and fill it with 8 cups of water.
  2. After this, take a large saucepan, into which water is also poured and which is placed on the fire.
  3. As soon as the water boils, place a container with peas in it so that it does not reach the bottom.
  4. You need to cook the porridge until it is completely cooked.
  5. After this, you will need to grind the peas to a puree and add a little semolina. Semolina will make the treat thicker.

Important! Semolina is poured into the porridge in such an amount that the finished product only slightly sticks to the fingers.

The resulting bait can be hidden in a bag and placed in the refrigerator. The porridge for crucian carp will be ready in 6-8 hours, when it freezes a little, and it can be used.

After 6 hours, the porridge will reach the state required for good fishing.

Semolina with rolled oats

This bait holds well on the hook. In addition, fish like it, which bites on such a delicacy with great pleasure.

Semolina

Preparation takes place in several stages:

  • 2 glasses of water are poured into the vessel. And all this is put on the fire until it boils.
  • After this, add 4 tablespoons of cereal and another 4 teaspoons of sugar to the pan. In just a couple of minutes you need to add 2 cups of semolina. Done
  • this is done slowly and with constant stirring so that the product does not clump.
  • When the water has completely evaporated, you can remove the porridge from the heat, crush it into a ball and wrap it in something thick and warm. The treat should remain in this state for about 15 minutes.
  • After this, the dish is seasoned with 2-3 drops of anise oil.

At the final stage, the porridge is kneaded like regular dough.

Hominy

Mamaliga is called corn porridge, which should be viscous and dense. Otherwise, it will not be possible to put it on the hook. The advantage of this delicacy is that it does not become limp in water for a long time, so it does not have to be changed regularly. Both carp and crucian carp are excellently caught with hominy.

Important! Pre-frying wheat and corn flour adds a special taste to the porridge.

Everything is prepared in this order:

  • First, take wheat flour (you need 1 cup) and corn flour (3 cups). This is all mixed together and then filled with water. The mixture should be thick and resemble sour cream.
  • Next, you will need to add some flavorings to attract fish. Karas likes vanillin, anise and chocolate.
  • After this, the delicacy is transferred to a tight bag and sent to a pan of boiling water, where it is cooked for about 50 minutes.
  • After this period, the fire turns off, but the bag is not removed from the container. This is necessary so that the hominy cools down well.

When the porridge is cold, it can be cut into small pieces.

What is porridge for and how does it work?

There are fishermen who are distrustful of porridge, which acts as bait, although it more than justifies itself. There are times when, having taken all sorts of goodies for fishing, it turns out that all of them do not attract fish one bit.

As for porridge, it allows you to both attract many specimens to a place and keep them there. The crucian carp is lured by the aroma itself, so it is quite possible that he will not begin to greedily absorb the product that was provided to him. However, it will begin to swim around it. Moreover, this can continue for quite a long time. Therefore, there is no need to save on porridge.

In order to achieve the maximum effect, half an hour before the start of fishing you should feed the fish and only after that use aromatic bait. Experienced people note that this trick almost always works flawlessly.

It must be said that the nozzle is used depending on the time of year. In the warm months, grain, pearl barley or makha are suitable, and in the cold months, you won’t find better than bloodworms, worms, maggots or flies.

Features of some types of porridge

There are porridges made according to the classic recipe. There are products with “pepper.” Unusual additives that occupy a special place in the arsenal of experienced fishermen. One of these recipes, especially for you, is located below.
