Do-it-yourself feeder bait: secrets of anglers, manufacturing recipes

Fish bait is a special bait that is thrown into the water to attract prey to a certain place. It is usually used to catch species that belong to the carp family. Fish bait is made from flour, bread crumbs, vanilla sugar, flaxseeds or oil, corn, animal feed and other ingredients. Fishermen moisten all these components and mold them into balls, which they then throw into the water exactly in the place where they plan to fish. These balls can break into pieces when they collide with the surface of the water, forming a “cloud” of small nutrient particles that is attractive to fish. Other types of balls sink to the very bottom to attract deep-sea species.

Fish bait is a special bait that is thrown into the water to attract different species to a certain place.

Using bait

You need to be able to calculate the amount of bait you throw in such a way that the fish approach the fishing spot in large quantities, but do not overeat (this can negatively affect the quality of the bite). Knowledgeable people can feed a certain place for several days before fishing so that the fish gets used to receiving food and periodically returns to this point again.

One way to place the food mass as close as possible to the baited fishing hook is with a feeder rig. This fishing rod differs from a regular donkey in that not far from the bait there is a mesh feeder made of wire or other material. When it hits the surface of the water, the contents of the feeder begin to disperse and attract fish, but some part must reach the bottom.

When fishing with a regular fishing rod, the balls are usually thrown just above the float.

In some reservoirs (especially private ones), a limit may be set on feeding fish, since excessive use of this method can lead to pollution of the natural habitat of the fish. This is especially true for small drainless lakes, where the water stagnates and its quality deteriorates greatly, which can lead to the mass death of all living things.

Preparation of bait

There are so many varieties in modern fishing stores that it can be very difficult for a beginner to navigate and choose his option. It is strongly not recommended to buy the first fertilizer that catches your eye without familiarizing yourself with the rules for its use. To make your own bait, you will need a large bowl, basin or bucket. Experienced fishermen love to experiment with different mixtures and try to purchase at least 3 of these containers. Mix fish bait with your own hands. To moisten the mixture, it is recommended to use water from the river or lake where you plan to fish. It is better not to use tap water as it may contain excessive amounts of chlorine. Using a special aromatic spray, you can add an additional scent to the nutritional mass. As an alternative, the Italian bite activator FishHungry is also used.

It is known that bait tends to dry out, and from time to time it will need to be moistened again. You can develop a schedule for such procedures (for example, every hour). You should not allow excess moisture in the mixture, because in this case it may lose its beneficial properties. A mass that is too dry will dissolve in the upper layers of water without reaching the bottom, and this is also unacceptable.

It is usually used to catch species that belong to the carp family.

The best bait for crucian carp in summer

In summer, the bite of crucian carp becomes more capricious than in spring. At this time of year, crucian carp are more cautious and picky and are influenced by the weather. The preferences of this fish in summer depend not only on the time of year, but also on the reservoir. Most often, in summer you can achieve more frequent bites on plant baits, but not always. In some reservoirs, crucian carp may peck at red worms living in close proximity to the reservoir, since crucian carp eats only what is familiar to it.

Types of bait

Dark dressing performs very well in clean and clear water. Such a nutrient mass will not look suspicious when it falls to the bottom, so timid varieties of fish will not notice any catch. Fish in general tend to avoid bright areas of the pond because they are too vulnerable to predators in such areas. If for some reason you use light-colored bait for fish in clear water, then you should use special dyes and change the color to a darker one.

Exotic bait

When fishing using the “method”, the preparation of the nutrient mass must be thorough so that the fish cannot easily knock it out of the feeder. This type of bait can even be too sticky, making it difficult to prepare. Water should be added in small quantities, then stir the mass at an accelerated pace. This bait should be a little damp, but not too dry.

Molasses is a good ingredient to attract a sweet tooth like bream. It mixes particularly well with baits such as boilies, corn and fruit flavored pellets. Some bait mixtures already contain dry molasses, but usually it must be added in liquid form.

It is necessary to observe the measure, because an excess of this sweet additive can lead to the bait becoming too sticky.

Mixed groundbait can look and work well if it is made up of small particles.
Corn-based fish powder is a relatively new and unfamiliar ingredient. Corn is a good bait for fish, so its use is quite justified. This is an excellent bait for fish, carp, bream, barbel, chub, tench and large roach. Typically, anglers moisten the corn mass separately, and then add it to the rest of the ingredients.

Most store-bought fertilizers work well, but there is nothing wrong with experimenting and mixing them together. An experienced fisherman usually strives to develop bait recipes for fishing with his own hands and is subsequently reluctant to share secrets with others, making exceptions only for his closest friends. Some develop such effective mixtures that they later call them by their own name and successfully sell them to other connoisseurs.

DIY bait recipes for crucian carp - manufacturing features

Fishing for crucian carp is always exciting and keeps the fisherman on his toes.
In order for the catch to please you with its volumes, you need an effective bait. You can buy it in the store, but it is better to make bait for crucian carp at home with your own hands. There are enough recipes for making bait. The advantages of self-made bait for crucian carp will be:

  1. Saving money.
  2. Efficiency.
  3. Natural products.

General requirements for bait

It is very important to ensure that the vast majority of the components of bait for crucian carp are finely ground. Thanks to this, the fish will not get satiated so quickly and will live longer within the fishing radius.

The mistake is overfeeding. There is no need to throw too much bait.

If the reservoir contains a large number of bleak, roach, and silver bream, then you need to exclude egg powder from the bait, which will attract small fish.

The color of the bait should not differ from the bottom of the reservoir. Light colors on a dark bottom will scare the crucian carp.

The bait should be viscous enough so as not to fly apart when casting.

It is advisable to take water from a well or the same reservoir where fishing will take place.

Main ingredients and flavorings for bait

The main parts of the bait are:

  1. Base and binders for base.
  2. Feed additive.
  3. Flavoring.

The “base” can consist of various components, namely: cake, crackers, bran, as well as oatmeal. A feed additive is added to this base, which can be different:

  • The larva is an excellent additive that crucian carp really loves.
  • Bloodworms are a standard delicacy for fish.
  • Worms are an ideal feed additive.
  • Maggot is a classic and win-win additive.

Flavoring is a seasoning and spices that are added to bait. You can buy them in a store, or you can make them yourself by grinding sunflower, hemp, or cocoa seeds through a meat grinder or blender. Sugar and chocolate are also ideal.

Crucian carp is a cautious fish and often does not react to an unfamiliar smell and taste. But if you add the following ingredients to the bait, it will be difficult for the fish to resist them:

  • Finely ground cake soaked in vegetable oil.
  • Hemp grains, which must first be boiled over a fire.
  • Honey gingerbread (crushed).
  • Crushed garlic.
  • Flavors that have a sweet smell (vanilla and cocoa).
  • Semolina and millet (powdered).
  • Anise and dill seeds, which need to be ground.

Groundbait recipes

Preparing bait for crucian carp at home is not difficult. You just need to know a few effective recipes.

Classic recipe

  • Chopped barley and wheat 1 kg each.
  • Corn grits – 0.5 kg.
  • Semolina – 0.2 kg.
  • Corn flour – 0.2 kg.
  • Sunflower cake in the amount of 0.2 kg.

All dry ingredients are mixed well and packaged in plastic bags. There may be several of them. On site, add water directly from the reservoir and allow the mixture to moisten for 25 minutes.

Next, you can add a flavoring: Corvalol or valerian, 15 drops each. Then balls the size of oranges are molded and thrown one by one into the water.

Simple and cheap recipe

This recipe is distinguished by its simplicity and low cost of products that can always be found at home.

  • Millet – 0.5 l.
  • Semolina – 200 gr.
  • Pearl barley – 200 gr.

Cook all these components for 30 minutes. Then let the resulting porridge cool. Then you need to add: 200 grams of sunflower cake and 100 grams of breadcrumbs.

For this bait you don’t even need to add flavoring; the aroma of sunflower seeds will be enough.

Recipe for every day

Ingredients: peas, millet and pearl barley.

Pour 0.5 liters of pearl barley and a glass of peas with water and cook for 2 hours. Then add a glass of millet. Cook the paste for 20 minutes.

Add: 5 drops of hemp oil and 5 drops of anise oil

On a pond, using coastal soil, bring it to the desired consistency (not too liquid, and not too thick). Let's make balls. The bait is suitable for feeding crucian carp in any body of water.

How to catch more?

Over 7 years of active fishing, I have found dozens of ways to improve the bite. Here are the most effective ones:

  1. Bite activator . This pheromone additive attracts fish most strongly in cold and warm water. Discussion of the bite activator “Hungry Fish”.
  2. Increased gear sensitivity. Read the appropriate manuals for your specific type of gear.
  3. Pheromone -based lures .

Recipes for preparing bait for fishing at different times of the year

Everyone knows that fish change their preferences depending on the time of year. For fishing to be successful, you need to know the recipes for preparing baits that correspond to the fishing season.

Summer bait recipe

To prepare summer bait you need:

  • 1 kg yellow peas.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs.
  • 4 pieces of shortbread cookies (ground).
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa.
  • 1 cup ground flour.

Boil the peas, add crackers, cookies, cocoa and macadamia. The resulting mixture must be packaged in bags. On the shore of a reservoir, add water (directly from the same reservoir) to the bag with bait, let it swell and form balls.

Spring bait recipe

In spring, it is best to fish in shallow waters, since the water at depths is still cold. Accordingly, crucian carp feed poorly in such water.

For spring bait you need:

Recipe No. 1

  • 1 kg of millet.
  • Can of worms.

The millet needs to be boiled and the worms chopped. Mix and form into balls.

Recipe No. 2

  • 5 potatoes.
  • 1 can of canned corn.
  • 3 tablespoons (tablespoons) of oatmeal.

Boil potatoes, mash. Combine it with corn and flakes.

Winter bait for crucian carp

Winter fishing is very different from summer fishing. Basically, in winter there is no need to use bait, except perhaps this:

  • 0.5 kg breadcrumbs.
  • Box of worms or bloodworms.

Mix breadcrumbs with bloodworms or worms, previously crushed. Add water to the pond.

Autumn bait for crucian carp

Autumn is a cold time, and therefore crucian carp switches to food that includes animal origin. These can be worms, bloodworms, maggots, shells. To attract crucian carp in the fall you need:

  • A glass of toasted sunflower seeds.
  • Breadcrumbs 0.5 l.
  • A glass of chopped worms, bloodworms, shells, maggots (you can make a mix).
  • Flavoring – vanillin (at the tip of a teaspoon).

Combine the seeds with breadcrumbs, add a glass of critters and vanillin. Mix. On the shore of the reservoir, add a little water to obtain a mixture of normal consistency.

Features of bait production

Depending on the weather, crucian carp prefers certain additives and flavorings. In hot weather, fish prefer sweet smells. Groundbait with the addition of vanilla, cinnamon and seeds will come in handy.

When it's cold outside, dill seeds and garlic are perfect for flavor.

Crucian carp behave differently depending on the reservoir. In a pond he is more relaxed about bait; in fast-flowing water he is more careful.

On a pond, lake, or in a body of standing water, you need to add black soil or sand to the bait. Thanks to this, the bait will quickly reach its destination.

It is worth noting that on the river you will need twice as much bait as on the pond. The main ingredients for attracting crucian carp will be a worm, maggots and bloodworms.

If small fish predominate in the reservoir, then components such as egg powder and breadcrumbs should be excluded from the bait. Try to make bait of a coarser grind so that the small fish cannot swallow it. In a reservoir where crucian carp is the main fish, you need to use drinking yogurt, oatmeal, peas, and corn.

Bait for feeder fishing

The recipe is quite simple. Need to:

  • 1 kg breadcrumbs.
  • Sunflower cake 300 gr.
  • Compound feed 400 gr.
  • Oatmeal and semolina 200 gr.
  • Corn grits 200 gr.
  • Flavoring: coffee, honey or anise (optional).

Combine all components and dilute with water in a reservoir to the desired consistency.

Quick Tips for Beginners

  1. The color of the bait depends on the bottom of the reservoir. In no case should it differ too sharply from it.
  2. The concentration directly depends on the reservoir where fishing will take place. On a pond it should be more viscous than on reservoirs with stagnant water.
  3. The bait is intended to lure the crucian carp, but in no case feed it.
Try not to cast too much bait.
  4. The balls should be made the size of a chicken egg.
  5. Cast one meter in diameter near the float.
  6. The bait should always be fresh.
  7. It is advisable to take water from a reservoir, and not from a tap.

A good and effective bait made with your own hands is the key to an abundant catch and exciting fishing.
