Fishing on Lake Singul

  • Types of fish: golden carp
  • silver crucian carp

Fishing spots

Successful fishing on Singul is possible throughout the entire water area - both from the shore and from a boat, but the second method is preferable - you can fish deeper places from a boat. IMPORTANT: in the vicinity of the lake there are a fair number of vipers, which periodically bite unwary tourists and fishermen. The second problem is mosquitoes, there are hordes of them here.

Fishing Features

A common fish caught on the lake is the ubiquitous and abundant silver carp. During periods of activity (late spring - summer), it bites briskly on bottom and float gear, and specimens weighing 300 grams, or even half a kilo, are caught. According to fishermen, local crucian carp is quite fatty and has good taste.

There is no information about catching crucian carp in winter.

Fishing on the Tobol River

The Tobol is the largest and deepest tributary of the Irtysh. It originates on the border of the Turgai plateau and the southern foothills of the Urals, at the confluence of the Kokpektysay and Bozbie rivers. From source to mouth, it practically does not change direction and flows to the northeast, flowing into the Irtysh near the city of Tobolsk. This consistency is all the more surprising since the Tobol is a typically flat river with an exceptionally winding bed. This is especially noticeable in the lower reaches, where it expands significantly, absorbing the waters of large tributaries, and flows through swampy areas.

The steppes of the West Siberian Plain are not the most ideal place for a summer holiday, but Tobol is quite popular among tourists. There are many reasons for this: beautiful landscapes, good environmental background, developed infrastructure. Here you can do anything: hunting, water sports, go hiking or just bask in the hot sun. But the most important thing that the Tobol, as well as its tributaries and lakes, is famous for is its excellent fishing. Pike, ide, bream, carp and many other fish literally come into your hands!

City of exiles

Tobol has a rich history. In the 16th century, the exploration of Siberia by Ermak’s Cossacks began from these places. At the same time, the city of Tobolsk was founded at the mouth of the river, which for a long time was the main military, political, commercial and religious center of the region. It was called nothing less than the capital of Siberia.

At the same time, Tobolsk, like the lower reaches of the river as a whole, almost immediately became a place of exile for political prisoners. True, the first person sent here was... the bell! He was sent along with the Uglichites, who staged lynching of the alleged murderers of Tsarevich Dmitry. The bell suffered for notifying the townspeople about this tragic event, awakening in them a desire for reprisals. Today a copy of it can be seen in the Historical and Architectural Museum - the original returned to Uglich at the end of the 19th century. The fate of the Decembrists was especially closely connected with Tobol. At the end of hard labor, many of them were resettled throughout the Tobolsk province. In 1927, a museum complex was created in Yalutorovsk in honor of the Decembrists. Today it includes the memorial houses of M. I. Muravyov-Apostol and I. D. Yakushkin, in which the interiors of the 19th century were recreated, as well as a local history museum and the House of Nature. In addition to the museum complex, in Yalutorovsk a birch grove located right within the city limits was named in honor of the Decembrists. This forest area of 90 hectares is considered a natural monument of regional significance. Exiled prisoners were not allowed to leave Yalutorovsk further than two miles, so the nearby grove became their favorite place for walks.

On the very banks of the Tobol there is also the Museum of the Decembrists in Kurgan. Thirteen participants in the uprising of noble revolutionaries lived in this city. The house where the museum is now belonged to one of them - M. M. Naryshkin. Having lived in Kurgan for five years, he did a lot for the region in the field of gardening, horse breeding, cultural development and charity.

Golden mean

Tobol is one of the most popular rivers of fishermen in the Kurgan and Tyumen regions. And for good reason. The fish here are large, plentiful and can be caught all year round. Fishing for tench, which reaches a weight of 6 kg here, is especially popular. However, there is also a use for small tench - it will make an excellent bait when fishing for carp.

Catching carp in such a large river as the Tobol is more difficult than in small reservoirs - after all, the larger the fish, the more careful it is. But the result is worth the effort. For real giants, you will have to go to the middle of the river: where there is space, the carp prefers not to get too close to the shore. If on small rivers it can be found on the edges covered with silt, then on large rivers it will disdain them and will stay in the main stream. Carp's favorite places include large reaches, accumulations of snags and underwater springs. True, they attract not only fish, but also competing fishermen.

Fishing for carp is a very active activity. You have to be on the lookout all the time. Often disturbed fish move to quieter and calmer areas. If after several bites there is complete calm, you should look for another place for fishing. Fortunately, the Tobol is a large river and ideal for carp, so finding a good spot is not difficult.

Tobol, however, also has its drawbacks, and the main one is the abundance of ruffs. They pose a particularly big problem for bottom fishing. Small and fast ruffs instantly flock to the bait, ahead of the carp, and eat the bait. Because of this, experienced fishermen either fish in the middle layer of water or use bait that is not attractive to ruffes: pearl barley, peas or corn.

Location

The Tobol flows through the territory of the Kurgan and Tyumen regions, as well as Kazakhstan. Large cities on the Russian coast are Kurgan, Tobolsk, Yalutorovsk.

Geographical data

The length of the river is 1591 km. Width – 50-200 m, in the lower reaches up to 800 m. Maximum depth – 20 m.

Before you go fishing, call the base and make sure that there will be free places at that time.

Fishing for bream in the Tobol River

Fishing in the Kurgan region is carried out for both predators and peaceful fish. In particular, on the Tobol River you can catch perch, ide, pike perch, and pike. You can catch burbot using a donk. But most often carp, crucian carp, roach and bream are caught in these waters.

Fishing on the Tobol River

Each season, bream fishing on Tobol has its own peculiarity. It is customary to catch bream using bottom gear. However, bream fishing is often interfered with by the ruff. Huge schools of these fish feed almost constantly and prevent bream from taking the bait. Therefore, the bait should be to the taste of the bream, but at the same time not to be liked by the ruff.

In winter, bloodworms and amphipods are used as bait. The ruff also readily eats them. Therefore, it is necessary to use bait of a large fraction, which practically does not attract the ruff. After such bait, he practically does not attack the bait, allowing the bream to peck at the bait.

Free fishing spots in the Kurgan region

On the territory of the Kurgan region there is an excellent lake called Bolshie Shtanki. There are a lot of crucian carp in the reservoir. Fish can be found in absolutely any size, from small ones to kilogram specimens. They catch it with a float rod and use earthworms as bait.

Lake Indysyak also attracts many fishing enthusiasts. The main object of fishing is the minnow, which is so loved by local and visiting fishermen. Some even go to the Kurgan region only for the purpose of such fishing. In addition to this fish, crucian carp, perch or pike are often caught.

Lake Big Shtanki

Lake Nyukhalovo is famous among carp fishermen; it has brought many trophy specimens to fans of such fishing. Classic feeder rigs are used as gear. In addition to carp, you can catch minnow, crucian carp and perch in the pond.

Lake Uglovoye attracts lovers of catching predatory fish. Their main goal is pike fishing. The toothy fish is caught on various spinning baits, as well as live bait. Less commonly, crucian carp and minnow are caught using a feeder and float rod.

Changing baits

As mentioned above, pike in September is caught both with gear from the shore and from a boat. All options are good, but you will have to look for it. Even if the pike becomes active, this does not remove the fisherman’s ability to use the gear: during the trip he will have to change baits many times, select the right game and wiring, especially where the pike is already “familiar” with the fisherman. We have had situations where from a hill you can see how a pike comes out to the bait, follows it, but does not take it. As they say, pick up the key.

September - pike people are looking forward to this time of year, because very soon this will begin...

Good luck to you and all the best.
