Riding mood for grayling: diagram and production

Whatever a fisherman wants to catch, he must properly prepare for the process by choosing effective bait and equipment for a specific type of fish. Grayling is considered a bright and agile freshwater fish. Vertebrates are distinguished by their strength, speed and unusual behavior. The process of fishing for prey of this species is quite complex, so before setting off it is always necessary to think through all the details and set up the equipment. The most effective and efficient way to catch grayling is by fishing.

What is the tackle?

Content

The grayling tackle called “bulda” has won the favor of a large number of fishermen. This is an effective fishing method that is easy to put into practice and is guaranteed to bring results. The tackle has a float and a main tape with leads; used together with a spinning rod or float rod. The product is made from wooden materials, but as an alternative, dense foam can be used.

The device for catching grayling consists of a float, characterized by self-immersion (its weight should be about 50-100 g, length - 10-12 cm). A good product is aerodynamic and does not curl or overlap. It is preferable to choose models that have a natural shape and color, otherwise the fish may get scared and leave the catch site.

Important! The “balda” tackle for grayling should land in the water as quietly as possible. The float should ideally be transparent in color, the product should be durable and meet quality standards. Under any unfavorable conditions, for example, strong currents, the model must be in an upright position.

Gear selection

The main habitats of grayling can be called the north of the European part of Russia, the basins of the Baltic and White seas, in lakes such as Onega, Ladoga and Imandra. Found in the upper reaches of the Dnieper and Volga. Prefers cold, fast-flowing rivers, such as: Chusovaya, Vishera, Berezovaya, Kolva, Uls and their tributaries.

The choice of gear that would be more appropriate to use for grayling fishing depends on the time of year, weather conditions, and the characteristics of the reservoir (lake, large or small river).

In early spring (April-May), fish are caught using animal food, so fishing is practiced with a float rod and bottom tackle. With the appearance of caviar and juvenile fish (May-June), they begin to fish with spinning rods with small rotating spoons. And when there is a mass emergence of insects (mid-June), they switch to boat and fly fishing. And then until late autumn, grayling is successfully caught using all the gear listed above.

Varieties of bulldozer for catching grayling

Among the methods of catching freshwater fish are the following:

  1. Using a riding attitude.
  2. Using a cargo setting.

When using the first method, it is necessary to attach the loaded float to the main fishing line. The equipment element should not overlap the leashes and tangle the garland. The garland, in turn, is fixed just below the float. To make the most productive design, it is recommended to use a floating line, this will allow the flies to float on the surface of the water.

The weight setup works with a sliding float, sinker and garland with leaders. As a weighting agent, a fisherman can take a Tyrolean stick, a sinking bombard, or a chain consisting of small pellets.

Making your own bulldozer for grayling at home

Making a do-it-yourself bulldozer for grayling fishing involves careful selection of elements and high-quality execution of all actions. The purpose of the equipment is to increase the turbidity of the water; therefore, it is more advisable to make the structure in the form of a bullet or droplet. As a result, the fisherman can use pellets taken from small-caliber rifles and stock up on hooks of the required sizes and beads. Using a lead figurine will be no less effective.

The process of making tackle for grayling fishing consists of the following steps:

  • it is necessary to drill a passage in the selected product (this is done in the upper part of the equipment element);
  • after the beads are attached to the hooks, you can begin to fix them on the fishing line;
  • then the structure is threaded into the drilled hole and tightened with a loop;
  • The craftsman has the opportunity to paint the product or leave it in a natural color (painting materials must be waterproof).

The main condition is the symmetry of the gear. The most suitable hooks are models with numbers 15 and 20.

You can also make a “balda” tackle for grayling with your own hands, using a bombard made of bronze and brass. During operation, the hook is secured on top of the core using solder and wire. The loop is threaded through the axles and soldered. The hooks are attached together with the beads.

The fisherman should decide for himself how to make a bulldozer for grayling. Even if one of the options does not work, you can always try to make tackle using the second method.

Fishing line and other elements

The main monofilament line for float rigs is quite acceptable with a diameter in the region of 0.18 - 0.22 mm. In this case, it is undesirable to take the leash section thinner than 0.14 mm. Grayling often bites carefully, so the length of the leash is undesirable more than 15 centimeters.

The choice of float and weight depends on the strength of the current. The higher its speed, the more cargo is needed and, accordingly, the float. If you don’t know exactly the fishing conditions in advance, focus on 3 grams, with deviations in both directions. Important! Choose the color of the float in shades that are not bright and characteristic of the environment, since grayling is very shy.

The selection of hooks also has its own characteristics. The tenderness of grayling lips and the impressive size of the mouth require a hook of considerable size and always made of thick wire. The best option is hook No. 9-10 (international classification).

Instead of a hook with natural bait, artificial baits such as a fly are often used. We'll talk about them in detail below.

Installation of tackle for grayling fishing

Setting up a fishing rod for grayling should begin by attaching a float to the main fishing line. The movement of the product must be limited by two stoppers (they should be placed at the top and bottom). At the next stage, a swivel is attached in an amount of 1 to 3 pieces. It is recommended to choose the length of the leash from 1.5 to 3 m. A bait is mounted at the ends of the structural elements. To practice, it is best to fish with one hook, and after gaining the necessary skills, increase their number as desired.

Tackle for grayling “Balda” should ideally weigh about 10-20 g in rivers and 15-30 g in still waters.

What is a riding attitude

Riding gear consists of a float, which is attached to the end of the fishing line, and several leashes with dry flies located above the bite alarm. Has the following characteristics:

  • equipment length up to 1.5 meters;
  • two or three leashes 5–10 cm long made of monofilament fishing line with a diameter of 0.16 to 0.20 mm;
  • main thread about 0.30 mm thick;
  • dry flies, closely resembling the natural food in the place where grayling is caught.

Despite the fact that the riding gear is considered a specialized grayling tackle, it is successfully used for hunting various representatives of salmon fish. In particular, the equipment is effective for fishing trout, lenok, pink salmon and even taimen. The main thing is to choose the right bait.

For reference! The tackle is most popular on Baikal, Yenisei, Angara and other Siberian rivers.

Where and when to catch grayling on the bulldozer?

You can use the bait for grayling at any time of the year, but fishing is considered the most productive during cold weather. Since the habitat of prey should be sought in deep rivers with strong currents, ditches with edges and riffles will become favorable fishing areas. In unknown areas, it is recommended to use a marker float to measure the depth of the reservoir (river).

Catching grayling on a bulldozer involves long-distance casting of bait and the use of a spinning rod. Prey rarely swims to the shore, so it is also possible to hunt for it from a boat. The fishing process is very exciting and full of physical activity, but the productive result will certainly please the fisherman.

Rod

You should choose a light rod, since most of the time it will be in your hands. The permissible length is from 3 to 4 meters, depending on the width of the river and the distance of the fishing site from the angler’s location. Sometimes Bolognese rods up to 6 meters long will be more promising. But such “sticks” are appropriate on large rivers with fast currents, where the length of the rod is of fundamental importance, and the surrounding nature does not in any way interfere with its use. An important point is the rigidity of the rod. And this applies to all types of fishing. Due to the small size of grayling in general, a fishing rod should be selected that is soft enough to allow it to dampen the jerks of the caught fish.

Grayling fishing technique

In order for grayling fishing to be successful, you need to know some of the subtleties of the process. The tackle should be thrown to the maximum distance. A place with a flat and smooth bottom will be suitable. The installed float must be controlled by special limiters. The success of fishing will depend on the placement of the boom; ideally, install the structure preferably at an angle.

The fisherman should not be distracted from the float. His job is to tug on the line and let it down slowly. Attraction of fish occurs due to tapping and slight movement of the bulldozer along the river bottom. Insects and artificial flies are used as bait. You can actually buy a fly for a bulldozer in any specialized store.

The hook should be done when the float hits the water and completely dives. The prey is pulled out by the gills.

A fisherman can also catch grayling on a bulldozer from the shore. The difference from the option using a boat is the length of the rod and a more careful selection of the fishing spot. It is recommended to throw the bait at an angle of 60-70 degrees.

Fishing on the Angara in winter

In winter, you can fish from the ice on the Angara. And this type of leisure is no less popular than summer fishing. The main objects of fishing are perch, grayling, and less commonly sorog, pike and bream.

Winter fishing is not very diverse. The more holes drilled, the richer the catch. Large and heavy spoons are used, mostly without attachments. When choosing a color, it should be noted that a red spoon will perfectly attract the attention of fish. A good option would be orange. The rest will fail.

Winter fishing comes down to twitching the lure and maintaining endurance. When catching predatory pike, winter girders are used.

Many fishermen use bait in winter. A very simple mixture is made from ground roasted seeds and breadcrumbs in a 1:2 ratio.

In winter, catching sorog is very good:

  • During daylight hours, the bait is caddis.
  • At night, it is caught using semolina dough.

The dough is very easy to prepare. Bring one part of water to a boil, add a little sugar and vegetable oil. Semolina is poured in in a thin stream with constant stirring. The finished dough is then kneaded by hand through plastic wrap.

The bait should be kept near the very bottom. There is a soroga holding there, a little higher there is a perch, which also does not refuse the bait if you lift it. The time for catching sorog is in the evening and at night, as well as at dawn. During the day, sorogi bites are observed only in inclement weather.
