Rating of Kosadaka wobblers

Kosadaka Meta XS 65F personal reviews.

Continuing to experiment with wobblers from Kosadaka, this time the Meta XS 65F wobbler ended up in my box. The wobbler is far from new, and has already managed to gather around itself quite a large army of admirers. And all thanks to the fact that this model is an exact copy of the same well-known wobblerSquad Minnow 65 from Jackall. In my practice, I happened to be personally familiar with the Jackall cage, so in this post I will try to describe in more detail all the possible similarities and differences between these two models, which are so interesting to most anglers.

So, wobbler Kosadaka Meta XS 65F:

bait weight 5.9g. length 6.5 cm floating type F immersion depth 1.2 – 2 m

There’s no need to talk too much about the external performance – the quality is Kosadakov’s. I just want to remind you once again that when buying a wobbler, from any manufacturer, do not forget to take it out of the box and inspect it for visible defects. It is also worth noting that all parameters of the wobbler, both immersion depth and buoyancy, correspond to those specified. It does not float up quickly (the leash is made of field grass). As for comparison, here, of course, Jackall’s quality is an order of magnitude higher. This includes the paint surface, winding rings, and tees. I prefer Jackall.

The casting range of the Meta 65 can be rated as a C grade. Considering the light weight of the bait, it still seemed to me that the wobbler clearly did not reach the required few meters. In flight, the wobbler behaves unstable, somersaults, and goes into a tailspin. Naturally, such a flight affects the accuracy of the cast. You can feel the long-cast system not being balanced, which in general is quite common with wobblers from kosadaka. But I hardly noticed any such shortcomings in the wobbler from Squad Minnow 65. That is, the cast can also be counted in favor of Jackall.

Wiring Kosadaka Meta XS 65F

Comparing the wiring of these two models, it is difficult to say which wobbler is better; the determining factor here is the result, that is, the fish caught. I can note that the Squad Minnow 65 wobbler has more controlled wiring. The wobbler is very obedient, which cannot be said about kosadaku. When twitching the wobbler, it clearly loses the rhythm of the game, as a result of which control over the bait is often lost. The result is something chaotic, and it becomes difficult to control precise wiring “in two jerks and a pause.” In general, I didn’t like twitching with this wobbler, although it was with the help of this kind of wiring that I managed to open the account of this bait, and the first fish I caught was a good perch.

But the wobbler showed itself perfectly on smooth wiring, wiring with pauses and wiring with suspenders. The stop & go wiring (two turns, two second pause) brought me the first result, and a little later I secured this wiring with another small pike. Towards the end of this test fishing, towards the evening, the wiring option with a pull-up worked twice. The wobbler was attacked just at the moment of movement. Although the pike is not large, I still think the wiring worked. So, we can say that the bait fully justified itself on the first fishing trip.

As for the Jackall Squad Minnow 65 wobbler, such a result was not achieved on the first fishing trip, however, the bait also worked and also caught fish. Therefore, taking into account all of the above, it is difficult to give preference to anyone and answer the question: - which bait is better? Kosadaka is cheaper, but of lower quality, Jackall Squad Minnow 65 is better quality, but costs more, both wobblers are not bad at catching fish. Which wobbler to choose, decide for yourself.

Review of Kosadaka Meta XS 65F and 80F wobblers

Kosadaka Meta XS 65F is a wobbler that I initially took for catching pike on ultralight, but it turned out that in my hands it began to catch lenka perfectly!

No, I don’t really like targeted pike fishing with ultralight, I prefer to use more suitable gear for this. There are simply places where lenok and pike are almost in the same place, for example, a stream, and in the return near the shore there are pikes mostly up to a kilogram, etc.

But it so happened that I caught pike mediocrely with it, I caught several lines, but for some reason I couldn’t resist. They forgot about it and the pikes that stood in these places rushed to small linen wobblers and spinners. In one of the places where I tried to catch a pike on the net, I threw a lull, throwing it into the stream in order to correctly bring the wobbler into this very pike lull. And then suddenly there was a bite right in the stream! A small flax was caught and fell off under the bank. Then for some reason I was surprised by this. In 2021, I thought that 65 mm was a large size for such a little girl. From that moment on, I began to look at this wobbler a little differently.

In the same year 2021, on one of the fishing trips, I noticed one local place where it seemed to me there should be a lenok. It was a small mirror among the currents, I was anchored downstream in a bay. I tried to get to this local point at a distance and literally a meter by meter in size. The cast had to be made upstream, that is, at an angle upstream. It’s not very convenient for me to carry long-range sinking wobblers upstream, i.e. something else is needed. And then my eyes fell on the Kosadaka Meta 65. On the third cast I hit it just right and got a bite! Hooking, weak resistance, at first I thought it was a small lenok, but that was not the case.. Having brought the lenok to the boat, he rushed, unwinding the cord downstream.. This “lenok” turned out to be a good kilogram lenok.

This is how my acquaintance with this wobbler happened. In 2021, I’ve already put my foot down and tested this wobbler normally on line. And I’m ready to share my thoughts on it. The size of the wobbler is larger than many of my linen wobblers. Plus, he himself is a little pot-bellied, although he is runaway. I thought that it would be of interest to Lenkas from at least half a kilogram, but I was wrong. Even small ribbons were hung.

If you think about it this way, this wobbler is about the size of a large minnow. And the lenok loves to eat minnows, especially wounded ones.

Not only is the wobbler quite large, it is also noisy, which apparently is a good way to attract lenka. I even used this wobbler as a search engine. They can fish at different depths, both shallows and holes. Although its stated depth is up to 1.2 meters, I caught lenks from greater depths, and they apparently rose behind it.

It was quite convenient to fish with it from a boat. Again, due to the fact that they could fish at different depths simply by changing the wiring.

For example, if you need to carry out at a normal depth, then you need to lower the spinning rod down and twitch, and if the depth suddenly becomes small, simply raise the tip up and twitch up.

This wobbler “flies” quite well, the main thing is to get used to throwing it, because if you cast it incorrectly, it starts spinning in the air. To be honest, I don’t know how to most accurately describe the correct cast so that you understand, but the cast should be smooth and with increasing force. Try to choose a cast that suits you, experiment, I’m sure you’ll succeed.

When fishing on the shore, it is best to carry it out against the current and always with pauses, but first things first.

I cast perpendicular to myself, then begin twitching while the wobbler drifts in an arc towards the shore. Thus, it turns out that we are pulling the wobbler against the current. Depicting a wounded minnow struggling against the flow of the current.

Based on this, after a little reflection, you can understand that a wounded minnow will not be able to go against the current without stopping and twitch like crazy. Therefore, you need to pause. During pauses, the meta stands still and fluctuates a little, as if it is taking a breath.

Very often it was during pauses that the lenok grabbed this wobbler. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the wobbler is large, and in order to grab such “prey” the lenka must accurately hit it and catch the right moment. During pauses, he cannot resist such temptation and attacks!

There is one more trick. During a pause, you can give the cord to the wobbler, thereby giving the wobbler itself directly into the mouth of the lenka following it. It also works well, this already, apparently, imitates a minnow that is very tired and can no longer stay in the current.

The hooks on the wobbler are large and sharp, with the tips slightly bent inward - I didn’t change them. They hold fish well, especially since there will be no problems with large lenok or time fish. I was not able to catch more than a kilogram of lenok with this wobbler, but I have no doubt that a large lenok would be tempted by it.

Another trick with a wobbler lies in its positive buoyancy. You can cast it and float it downstream, thereby increasing the cast. This way we fish a large area, moving the wobbler against the current.

This should be done gradually, first fishing at the nearest casting distance, so as not to frighten other lenkas by pulling out another lenka from a long distance above their heads.

In addition to lenok, I used this wobbler to catch small pike, which I didn’t photograph, and perch, here’s one of them.

So, the wobbler, originally purchased for pike, became an excellent scout for lenka.

In this review I would like to talk about the unexpected opening of this fishing season. Let me clarify right away that the bait has been known to many fishermen for quite a long time and is actively used, having quite good, rather good, reviews.

At the end of August, the compartments in my wobbler box became very thin, which means the time has come to purchase proven baits and test something new. Considering the lack of wobblers with shallow depth, which are very useful when fishing on small rivers, especially in the autumn, it was decided to purchase something inexpensive with shallow depth. The choice fell on the Kosadaka Meta XS 80. I immediately ordered a pair of wobblers, since the expected fishing conditions were quite strong with an abundance of grass, possible snags and not very comfortable conditions when casting.

Based on past experience, I took a wobbler of more or less natural color. If you look at the colors offered by the manufacturer, everything is quite standard and familiar to a spinning fisherman - all the main catchable colors are present. As far as I know, there are 14 color options for the Kosadaka Meta XS 80 bait. If you are interested in my choice, then this is PSSH natural and TR with a trout color.

The TR color wobbler is very beautiful and pleasing to the eye (pike also like it). The back of the wobbler is green, this allows for good visual control of the bait when retrieving. The Kosadaka Meta XS 80 PSSH is not that noticeable, especially in muddy water, but it is exactly the bait that I would recommend purchasing first from this series of wobblers. This is the case when it doesn’t matter whether it’s convenient/not convenient, beautiful/not beautiful, the main thing is that the fish like it))

In continuation of the description of the external component of the wobbler, it is worth noting the fairly high quality of painting. After many bites, only small scratches remained on the wobbler. It often happens that paint is damaged by hooks. After 2 months of heavy use (about 30 fishing trips), there are practically no scratches from the hooks.

Perhaps we'll finish with the appearance, I'm happy with everything in this matter, but, as they say, the taste and color... you know.

According to the manufacturer, the bait weighs 9.2 grams (not tested), which allows this wobbler to be used also for light sticks. The depth of the wobbler is in the range of 0.6-1.2 meters. Based on the wishes of the spinning angler, you can use the wobbler at shallower depths (especially if you take into account its buoyancy - F). But to bury more than 1.2 meters is quite problematic, unless of course you enclose it. From the name it is immediately clear that the length of the wobbler is 8 centimeters.

As I mentioned above, the wobbler is floating (F - floating). In practice, the wobbler hangs a little in the thickness when paused, and then begins to float. The bait floats up, in my opinion, not quickly, but not slowly either; there are many wobblers that do it faster or, on the contrary, slower. Here I’ll clarify that I used a wobbler with a leash with a string 15 cm long.

It's time to move on to the most interesting part, namely the wiring. Kosadaka Meta XS 80 is not picky and quite obedient. Even a novice spinning angler can cope with guiding a wobbler and will get bites. But still, I would like to highlight a couple of points that may be useful to someone.

The first successful wiring option is two weak blows, a pause, one blow, a pause. Next we repeat the exercise. The pause is 3-4 seconds, but may vary depending on the activity of the predator.

The second successful wiring option for this wobbler is the so-called dying twitching. Single very weak blows with an interval of 2-3 seconds, which are sometimes diluted with a double blow. During such wiring, the wobbler makes not very amplitude glides, which can seduce even a slightly active pike.

Naturally, these animation options are just advice, not a panacea. You constantly need to experiment and look for catchy wiring. But I can say with confidence that the Kosadaka Meta XS 80 is an excellent bait. It will definitely bring you results!
