Fishing in the “Cool Place”

The ponds on the territory of Losiny Ostrov have existed since Soviet times and were used for recreation by the country's political elite.

In 2011, the reservoirs became leased. The farm consists of two ponds: upper and lower. The water and the bottom of the reservoirs were cleaned, the territory was put in order and, over time, began to develop.

It was from this time that paid fishing began to take place on Losiny Island, which in 2012 received the name “Cool Place”.

Lower reservoir

“Cool Place” (Losiny Ostrov) has wonderful ponds. The area on the shore is carefully cleaned and monitored. You can cast your fishing rod into the water from here. A plug or feeder is also suitable. The bottom is also clean, as is the riverbed.

Snags and snags will not spoil your hunt. In case of bad weather, people go under a canopy, which protects them from all troubles. The channel has a depth of 3.5 m. There is a hole of 4.5 m. The total water area of ​​the lake is 1.7 hectares.

This reservoir was created in 1965-1975. In 2011, a major overhaul of the hydraulic structures and thorough cleaning were carried out.

Throughout the year, many people come to the “Cool Place” (Losiny Ostrov). Reviews indicate that carp, beautiful amur, gorgeous catfish, large crucian carp, hearty trout, nice pike, Lena sturgeon and unsurpassed paddlefish are excellently caught here.

To fill the riverbed, water is supplied from a pond located above. Also, the flood in the spring helps a lot in this matter.

Description of the area

As noted above, the ponds are located on the territory of the Losiny Ostrov National Park, which is specially protected by the state.

This is a piece of protected area in close proximity to the main metropolis of the country, only 2.5 kilometers from the Moscow Ring Road.

Types of fish - who to fish for?

The upper pond is home to the old inhabitants of this reservoir: crucian carp and rotan.

The reservoir was stocked with fish over time:

• trout.

In the lower reservoir the main type of fish is:

• trout,
• pike,
• White amur,
• paddlefish or Canadian sturgeon,

• tench.

Prices and services

Pricing policy is constantly changing, depending on the season, purchase prices for fish and the economic situation in the country. You can always see the latest price on the official website of the “Cool Place”.

Currently there are the following prices for tickets:

• Basic, for the entire daylight hours, from 7 am to nine pm – 2000 rubles. The catch limit was canceled. Up to three fishing gear is allowed.
• In the spring there was a special voucher for spinning players, costing 500 rubles. The caught fish was paid at a set rate. It has been canceled since November 2015.
• For friends and comrades of the fisherman accompanying him on vacation, a “Guest” voucher is provided, which gives the right to stay in the waters of the ponds. The cost will be 500 rubles per person.

The administration of “Cool Place” also provides a number of additional services:

• Renting a canopy: for the whole day if you have a voucher – 1500 rubles; without a ticket – 3000 rubles. In this case, if the group of people renting is more than six people, an additional payment of 500 rubles is made for each additional guest.
• Renting a gazebo for the whole day will cost 5,000 rubles. If the company is more than ten people, an additional payment of 500 rubles per guest.
• On the territory of the reservoir you can always buy fresh fish, as well as smoked fish. The cost of the latter will be 200 rubles per piece. You can rent the smokehouse itself and smoke the caught fish yourself. The cost of the service is 600 rubles.
• For those who like to take a steam bath, a “Russian Bath” was built. The price of the service is 1500 rubles per hour. You can order for a minimum of two hours. It is advisable to book in advance.
• In 2014, a cafe was built where visitors can always warm up in winter, drink hot tea or coffee, and just relax.
• For lovers of overnight fishing, a mini-hotel was opened this year, which offers for comfortable accommodation: standard rooms - 2500 rubles per day, luxury rooms - 3900 rubles per day.
• Every autumn, trout fishing competitions are held in the waters of the lower pond. The winners will always receive pleasant prizes, as well as a delicious lunch for all participants.
• Parking for a personal car.
• For a small fee, you can negotiate with the staff on the issue of cleaning the caught fish.
• You can always buy worms at a pond for about a hundred rubles.
• The administration offers its regular customers a 10 percent discount on their fish catch. The cost of the service is 1000 rubles.

In 2014, the club card system was revived, the conditions remained the same:

• The card is valid for one year from the date of purchase.
• The cost of the service is 30,000 rubles, which is a deposit for further payment for the caught fish. The card allows you to pay only for the catch; now you won’t have to pay for the fishing itself.
• Card holders have priority rights in booking a gazebo, canopy, bathhouse or cafe.

In the spring of 2015, it was proposed to purchase the card in installments.

The initial mandatory payment is 5,000 rubles. The remaining amount is distributed by month throughout the year.

This system has greatly simplified the purchase of a card for those clients who are not able to deposit the entire amount at once, but who have the desire to buy it.

• In recent years, corporate vacations have become increasingly popular. On the territory of the “Cool Place” you can hold festive events and banquets.
• A service such as a gift certificate is provided. For donors, the cost will depend on the range of services and entertainment and will range from 2,500 to 17,000 rubles.
• During the summer season, when there are a lot of mosquitoes, you can purchase very effective repellents from these insects from the administration. According to many fishermen, its effect lasted up to five hours.

Minuses

Despite all the listed advantages, visitors will always find disadvantages.

These include:

• Drunken companies renting gazebos for various celebrations, but not fishing. People's behavior greatly disturbs the fishermen, breaking the silence with loud shouts, music, and sometimes even altercations.
• Notes to the fishermen themselves, often inexperienced ones, who use thin fishing lines and gear that do not correspond to the size and weight of the fish living in the reservoir. Some specimens caught have hooks with fishing lines in their mouths, which are very traumatic for the fish, and sometimes cause irreparable harm to it.
• The biggest disadvantage is the high prices for fishing, which forced many regular customers to turn away from the reservoir. To bring back its visitors, the administration is taking temporary measures, lowering the cost of tours, offering special rates, promotions and discounts. But eventually, after some time, prices rise again to their previous level.
• Many fishermen are not satisfied with the administration’s policy towards developing the corporate sphere of business, which infringes and is detrimental to the fishing industry.
• Most lovers of predator fishing are not satisfied with the natural feature of the lower pond. The water in it is very muddy, it brightens only in the cold season. Trout lives in this reservoir, but it is very inactive, because... loves clean, clear water. Spinning fishermen often leave without a catch, which does not triple them due to the high cost of the trip.

Cool place

In 2005, we had less experience and simpler gear, but we always had the desire to go fishing, and I hope that we will have it in the future. My grandfather and father instilled an interest in fishing, as well as in hunting, in me and my brothers. But compared to them, we are still green youngsters! Although we have read a lot, experience comes only with practice. So we try to go fishing every chance we get!

Why not go?

Returning from the north, from Bratsk, to visit our relatives in Abakan for the summer, we went out into nature, rested, and walked until the morning. One day I met Uncle Sasha, an Afghan veteran who found peace of mind only in fishing. Even hunting did not help him achieve harmony, although he shoots very well. As they say, what is hammered into the army cannot be knocked out by anything...

to go fishing this coming weekend . Take a break from the bustle of the city, break free, unwind your soul. The days passed slowly, but in the right direction. Closer to the scheduled date, my brother Evgeniy and I found fishing rods and other gear that we had inherited from our grandfather. Zhenya didn’t even forget such a necessary thing as a landing net.

“There won’t be good fishing without it!” “I have a feeling,” said the brother with a smile, holding a landing net in his hands, which has served faithfully, although it is no longer the first ten years old...

On Friday, I once again “played through it in my head” to see if everything had been prepared. I decided to take some groceries for a couple of days. It remains to think about things in case of a dramatic change in the weather.

In those years, the Internet was less widespread. I had to look at the meteorologists' forecast in local newspapers. But those who lived in Abakan for 17 years, as a rule, did not need weather forecaster data. The city is located in a basin, surrounded on all sides by mountains. Sudden weather changes are rare.

If it starts to rain here, it will last for a long time. The clouds will hang until all the available water pours out of them. However, sometimes the wind can intervene and clear the sky. But if the steppe “Khakas” blows, then take care of your eyes! It raises such clouds of dust that visibility is sharply reduced!

Before our trip, the heat had already been 30 degrees for a week. “That means it will be very warm on the weekend,” I thought. But just in case, I decided to take a jacket and spare socks with me.

Let's start

The long-awaited day has arrived - Saturday. Uncle Sasha, Zhenya and his girlfriend Katya pick me up at 10 o’clock in the morning. By this time I am already ready, gear and food are collected. I’m sitting on a bench near the front garden fence under spreading birch trees that provide good shade, which is so needed in the hot weather in our Abakan. I drink tea and think about the topical questions: “What will the fishing be like - successful or not? Will we be lucky with the weather?

And then a car pulls up, already containing some of the equipment. I'm loading supplies and gear. We look through everything again and make sure that we haven’t forgotten anything. Now you can safely go fishing!

Having got out of the city, the first thing we do is go for bait. And not to some store, but to a landfill! The smell here is excellent! An aroma, far from the scent of roses, covers the entire area. Crows croak and fly over the ground. Uncle Sasha, not paying attention to such trifles, gets out of the car, hides at the gate, and after a while returns with a tin can.

An incomprehensible moving mass is swarming inside. As we expected, this is a large, fattened white maggot. “Hmm... What else could you see there? - I think. “We came to the landfill for bait, not to the bakery!”

Having put the can in the trunk, we set off further along the M-54 highway. On the way we stop at Znamenka to buy ice cream. We don't have long to go. Having turned onto the gravel road, the car rolls along it for some time... And now we arrive at our cool place.

Having looked around, we figure out where it is better to park the car and where the tent. We choose a suitable place for the future fire and a table, which should be located nearby. Zhenya and I are going to get some wood to start a fire. Uncle Sasha begins to set up the tent. Meanwhile, Katya is assembling a camp table.

Evgeniy and I need to go up the slope. Suddenly my brother abruptly stops me mid-step in front of a bush that was blocking the path.

- What are you doing? - I ask, getting ready to bend back the branches.

“Look...” Zhenya says in response and points to the bush.

- Wow! - an exclamation escapes me.

On the branch that I just wanted to grab, a snake is moving barely noticeably. Without thinking twice, we quickly get rid of it and move on. We return with the first portion of firewood and show the “loot” to Katya.

- I won’t sleep in a tent! - the girl says in fear.

And in our camp everything is ready, including gear. Next to the fishing rods is a jar of bait. The fire slowly begins to smoke. We feed our cool place and use tricks. Now all that remains is to wait for the bites. And the evening is already coming...

Throws a light from the fire onto the fishing rods

Smoke rises above the flame, we throw in more and more dry branches. The crackling of the fire and the silence next to the water are soothing. But it’s a little confusing that there haven’t been any bites yet. We make casts again, change several fishing rods, try different bait. Everything is in vain - the fish is ignoring us for now.

And now it was completely dark. Having hung bite alarms on the fishing rods - small bells that we bought last year and have worked well, we sit around the fire. We begin to tell various interesting stories, both related to fishing and just from life.

We watch how the light of the fire casts its glare on the fishing rods... We pour strong tea into our mugs and enjoy a serene holiday in nature. And we ourselves, without despondency, are all waiting for bites. Zhenya begins a new story about how he rode his grandfather’s motorcycle... And then a short “jingle…” reaches my ears, and silence falls again.

- Quiet! Do you hear? — I say immediately, interrupting my brother’s story.

I carefully place the mug of tea on the ground. And then the sound of a bell is heard again and clearly. Without saying a word, we take off. Zhenya turns towards the fishing rods, Uncle Sasha rises. And I, having jumped over the fire, am already running towards the long-awaited signal. In the darkness I manage to see the gear that is ringing. I grab it, and behind me my brother exhales:

- Hook...

I pull myself, but then... I slip in the coastal mud and fall on my back. Fortunately, I don’t let go of the rod and little by little I begin to pull out the fish. The sound is heard again - “ring, ring, ring...”, but this time from a different gear. The brother runs to her, shouting as he goes:

- Katya, get the landing net!

The girl, instantly realizing, rushes towards our improvised camp. He takes the landing net and rushes to Zhenya. Together they pull out a good bream. Here I pull my trophy ashore, which is in no way inferior.

And the bell rings again. So, running from one fishing rod to another, we fish until one in the morning. Then the bite deteriorates sharply - almost to a minimum. After another couple of hours it stops altogether.

In the silence of the night

Zhenya and I don’t feel like sleeping, we sit down by the fire to drink tea. Katya settles down to rest in the car, Uncle Sasha goes into the tent to take a little nap. Then my brother tells me a story about his girlfriend and the landing net.

It was early summer. They went to the Tashebinsky quarry to relax and fish. And there are already tons of fishermen there! There is almost no free space on the shore. Zhenya had difficulty finding a small unoccupied area, prepared his gear, threw in some bait and waited for a bite. No one gets a bite, and neither does he. And then suddenly the fish is hooked. The brother makes a hook, pulls and shouts to his friend:

- Kate! Bring the landing net...

The girl runs to the car, opens it, looks, and then asks:

- What does he look like?!

This dialogue attracts the attention of all fishermen. The men look enthusiastically at the unfolding picture: how Zhenya is trying to drag his trophy and at the same time explain to her friend what a landing net looks like. There is nothing surprising here. This is the girl’s first time fishing, so she may well not know things that seem obvious to others. Finally, Evgeny refuses various “abstruse” words and shouts:

-...Like a stick to catch butterflies, only bigger...

Then Katya immediately grabs the landing net and runs to the water. Together they pull out the bream to the envy of the fishermen sitting nearby.

The next day

In the morning, Zhenya and I “surrendered our post” and went to take a nap. During the night we managed to catch several more bream. But in the first half of the day there were no bites.

After resting, we washed up and had breakfast. Zhenya decided to go out with a spinning rod and try to catch a pike. Uncle Sasha suggested changing the bait on several fishing rods. I agreed and even made a couple of feedings, but the result, alas, was negative. The fish didn't want to bite.

Nothing interesting happened, and time passed. Soon we had to get ready to go home. We decided to start processing the catch for now. Approximately every fifth fish was infected with parasites, so we had to bury them all. The rest of the spoils were salted so that they would not be lost. There were breams weighing one and a half kilograms, and breams twice as heavy.

We were pleased with the results of the night's fishing. We started packing our things. Just then Zhenya returned and said:

“I almost caught a pike just now, right there where the snag sticks out of the water.” I cast it three times, grabbed it on the fourth... I pulled it, and there was a steep bank... The pike just twitched... and in my hands I was left with a rod without a spoon. I easily tore off the line...

“It happens,” I answer... “Get ready, it’s time for us to go.”

Having packed the last gear, “packed” into the car, we set off on the way back.

Epilogue

Of course, everyone has different ideas about the ideal holiday and the best way to spend time in the summer. Someone goes to the nearest beach and basks in the sun from morning until evening. Some people are attracted by hot countries or exciting excursions in the ancient quarters of European cities. Some people prefer to sit in front of the TV or defeat virtual enemies in computer games.

This is the personal choice of each person, his decision - how best to manage his time, which can never be returned or replenished. We prefer to spend our weekends in nature, doing what we love. If you manage to relax in the company of family, loved ones and friends, then this is absolutely priceless.

Nature allows us to feel harmony in our souls and escape the bustle of the city. As soon as we have free time from work, we are immediately ready to go fishing in a pond. And if the season is already open, then you can go to the hunting grounds. And I advise you not to forget about all the advantages of active recreation.
