Wet feet are always unpleasant and can lead to unpleasant health consequences. Especially if you are on a hunt. It’s unlikely that you’ll have a change of clothes with you, and you won’t always have the opportunity to dry out. That is why it is so important to pay special attention to this part of the equipment. Making a choice can be very difficult. The market is voluminous and represented by dozens of brands. Prices for ordinary rubber boots can reach tens of thousands, and it is far from certain that an expensive model will be reliable. But shoes should also be warm, often able to cope with extreme temperatures.

We carefully studied winter boots and their manufacturers. Based on the knowledge gained, this rating was created, which includes only the best companies that can boast of the highest quality of their products. Both foreign and Russian companies are represented here. They are united by the well-established models they produce, but prices can differ significantly. Maintaining a delicate balance between the cost of a product and its quality is often very difficult, but looking ahead, we note that some companies still manage to do this.

Top 10. All-terrain vehicle

Rating (2020): 4.28

  • Characteristics
      Price range: 1,600 - 2,900 rubles.
  • Homeland of the brand: Russia
  • Production sites: Russia
  • Year founded: 2000
  • Official website: vezdekhod.com

Men's and women's boots should be different in both design and construction. The Vezdekhod company understands this and produces the most diverse shoes aimed at a specific buyer. There are even children's models in the line, if you decide to introduce your child to hunting from early childhood. All Vezkhod shoes are produced in Russia, which allows them to keep prices at an acceptable level without sacrificing the quality of the products and the raw materials from which they are made. The plant has modern Italian and German equipment, which makes it possible to constantly expand the range and produce new collections with original designs from a variety of materials.

Advantages and disadvantages

  • Numerous male and female models
  • There are rubber shoes for children
  • Constantly expanding range
  • No models for extreme temperatures

Muck Boot Tay Sport

The second model from Muck Boot in my review. And if the first one - Avon - is more of an off-season shoe, then Tay Sport (photo 7) is already a full-fledged winter boot. According to the general design principle, they are similar to Avon - a molded boot that turns into a neoprene boot, but specific solutions differ markedly.

The lower part of the boot has a sporty “physique”, but is very powerful, with a massive heel, with clearly visible areas of reinforcement of the material. If we look inside, we will see that the overall thickness of the boot is quite impressive, accordingly, at the bottom it is even steeper, and the underside surface is a layer of thick fleece (photo 8). It is clear that all this is designed for serious operating conditions.

Using Tay Sport showed that the temperature claim of minus 15 - 20°C (depending on what socks to wear) is close to the truth. Fishing in these boots at “ten” (albeit quite active - fishing) with just one light thermal sock - is completely comfortable, no signs of freezing during the whole day. When an additional thin fleece sock was put on, then minus 13°C - with the same positive emotions. It’s easy to guess that if you insulate yourself “like an adult” - thick thermal socks and thick fleece or thinsulate socks, then it will be even better. Surely the “twenty” is not scary. But still - when moving.

They also performed well during pre-winter fishing, at temperatures plus or minus zero. A whole day in Tay Sport in a boat, absolutely no movement, on one sock - and your feet are dry and warm throughout the entire fishing trip.

What are the advantages?

1. A thick sole with a special profile (photo 9) with an integrated layer of foam material provides both good thermal insulation and excellent lateral support.

2. The dinosaur-like heel (photo 10), in addition to the convenience of removing boots without using your hands, provides 100% mechanical protection for the heel area and allows you to easily pierce a fairly thick ice crust with your boot into a hole.

3. The height of the boots is very good and increased, practically the maximum for average height, which in combination with a thick sole further improves the “all-terrain ability”.

4. The absorbency of the inner layers is increased. A whole day of active fishing in one sock does not lead to dampness. With woolen socks you can catch fish for two days. But still it is very individual. Sweating is a fickle thing, it’s different for everyone and sometimes differs significantly.

5. High rise. Suitable for people with any feet.

6. A narrow, but soft and very elastic boot, into which you can tuck your trouser legs, having first rolled it down. At the same time, there is no need to be afraid of pinching, with legs of normal fatness. The advantage of this is the following. Dressed this way, i.e. boot over the pants, we ensure complete isolation of the legs from the external environment - neither snow nor water gets there. If your pants are also waterproof, then you can dive up to your waist.

There was such a case this year on the first ice. At the exit from the lake, in the coastal reeds, my friend suddenly sank to about the point where it was caused. When I got out, the “strict commission” discovered that literally three drops got inside the boots. He was wearing a Sea Fox float.

What about the cons?

1. The last of these boots is not without problems: some complain of fatigue in the lower leg muscles when walking for a long time. If you are familiar with skating, then you know how your feet can ache. A similar effect is likely to occur here.

2. The tread of the boots performs a weak anti-slip function on ice. Looking at it (photo 11), it is clear that in principle this is how it should be.

Summary. The Tay Sport is a good shoe for most of the specific situations that all-season anglers face. If there is a chance of falling through the shore on the first or last ice. Or if there are “living” cracks and gullies on the reservoir already in the midst of winter. When there is a lot of water, snow or both on the ice. When boat fishing in early spring or late autumn. For all this, you should consider these boots as one of the main options. A great addition to a float suit. But not for long journeys.

Top 9. CHF

Rating (2020): 4.34

  • Characteristics
      Price range: 3,500 - 15,300 rubles.
  • Homeland of the brand: Russia
  • Production sites: Russia
  • Year founded: 1993
  • Official website: hsn.ru

Winter boots for hunting should not only be warm, practical and comfortable, but also stylish. This is the opinion of the Russian company HSN, which produces shoes and related equipment for fishermen, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. Just look at the Shaman collection and the Cardinal lineup to appreciate how attractive the brand’s shoes look and how well the company’s designers work. In addition, the quality here is very high. All thanks to the presence of only one production site, which is easier to monitor. No factories in China or India. Only local raw materials and production in strict accordance with GOST standards.

Advantages and disadvantages

  • Attractive design
  • Thoughtful ergonomics
  • Targeted at hunters and fishermen
  • Rarely found on store shelves
  • High price tag for a Russian company

Winter boots for hunting

It’s worth mentioning separately about winter boots for hunting. Take 1-2 sizes larger . Boots are often equipped with thick insoles and thicker socks made of natural wool. It is worth paying special attention to the rise of the purchased shoes. Choose the exact same instep as your everyday shoes. This is necessary in order to easily remove boots. It also allows blood to circulate easily and gives a feeling of spaciousness and comfort. We must not forget about the height of the boot, as well as in shoes for winter fishing. Even if the hunt is organized in early spring, you should not wear low shoes.

Example . When hunting for wood grouse, which takes place in April, there is still snow, and in some places it is quite deep. If a hunter takes low shoes with thin soles, he may get his feet wet and, as a result, get sick or be unable to continue active recreation.

tarpaulin or cowhide winter boots in mild frosts. Be sure to insert warm insoles into your shoes, as well as foot wraps. It is recommended to soak the toes of your shoes with specialized shoe ointment on the eve of the hunt. Or castor oil for better waterproofing and increased flexibility.

HSN Tundra, winter. Price 5400 rubles. Upper: nubuck, thermoplastic elastomer sole, insulation: Thinsulate. One of the best winter hunting boots.

Arkhar – ACB002. Retains heat down to -25, good on the move, weight of one boot is 1250 grams. Waterproof material, genuine leather.

Norfin Siberia. The average price is 3200 rubles. Extremely warm thick insole, 4 main layers, the upper one is made of a special breathable material Thinsulate, the remaining 3 layers are polypropylene, felt and aluminum foil. Some of the best winter pairs of shoes available right now.

Boots for winter hunting should also be high. Most often they are made from thermoplastic elastomer . You can hunt in them at temperatures down to -50 . The top of such boots reaches a height of at least 40 cm , and in the upper part there is a sewn textile extension that does not allow moisture to pass through. The multi-layer stocking of winter boots for hunting should not allow the foot to rub in the sole and heel area. The sole is equipped with spikes that prevent slipping on ice or crust.

Important! For running hunting, boots should be light models. Otherwise, the steps will become heavy and clumsy. Which can cause discomfort and premature fatigue.

How to choose the right shoes for hunting and fishing in autumn and winter - practical advice

Those who are just getting involved in this type of active recreation or sport (depending on who you are), pay the main attention to the issue of purchasing a gun.
But an equally important factor that determines how successful the hunt will be and whether it will turn into flour is the correct choice of appropriate shoes, which, unfortunately, is not taken into account by many. What criteria should be used to choose shoes for hunting in the fall or winter, what to consider when purchasing, which manufacturers it is advisable to focus on - understanding all such nuances will allow you to avoid the most typical mistakes made by novice amateur fishermen. The general requirements for any shoes for hunting or fishing, be it autumn or winter, are the same - durability (which implies increased resistance to wear), convenience, comfort and high-quality protection from negative external factors such as dampness and cold. But considering this issue only from the point of view of the advisability of purchasing certain shoes (boots, high boots) is not entirely correct. Rather, we are talking about a kit, which also includes such elements of “equipment” as socks and insoles. You shouldn’t forget about this either.

What to consider when choosing shoes for hunting

Type of fishing

If hunting is carried out by walking, then the requirements for shoes are somewhat stricter. And this is understandable, since you often have to navigate a rough route and overcome areas with different types of soil. The specifics of the territory in which it is planned to hunt is also important - wooded area, mountainous, swampy, and so on.

Season

For autumn, shoes are chosen that are lighter and not as insulated as for winter fishing. Plus, you won't need thick socks. It’s another matter if boots are purchased for all occasions, for any season. The criteria for correct selection are described below.

Care products

What's good about a well-known brand?
Large companies care not only about the quality of boots, shoes, and insoles, but also about the development and supply to the market of various preparations that can extend the service life of hunting shoes. Therefore, it is worth asking if there are any creams, ointments, etc. from this manufacturer. Alternatively, what he recommends to use for caring for boots or shoes. Inexperienced hunters overlook the fact that randomly selected products can reduce the breathability of the material, and feet in such shoes will quickly sweat. And this is just one of the indicators of the advisability of using the appropriate products, although there are many more of them - compatibility of the base and the drug, and so on.

Basic criteria for choosing shoes for hunting Boots

Possibility of adjusting them to fit your feet. Even if two hunters have the same foot size, one will find the shoes he likes just right (which means they are comfortable to wear), while the other will feel some discomfort. If not in the store, then later, at home, after the next fitting. It is believed that this is not critical, and is often perceived only as a temporary inconvenience - nothing, they are carried away (although it is not a fact that this is exactly what will happen). Now imagine that you will have to spend the whole day outdoors in such shoes. How long will the hunter hold out, will he give up the race in a couple of hours?

What is the reason for this discrepancy?
There are no absolutely identical people. Even twins have characteristic differences by which their mother recognizes them. This fully applies to anatomical features, including the foot. That is why hunting shoes should be purchased from well-known manufacturers who do not miss this nuance. Their boots have special lacing or Velcro fasteners that allow for a precise fit to the foot. In addition, the seasonal factor should also be taken into account. Unlike in autumn, during winter fishing you will have to additionally insulate your feet. As a rule, thick socks help out, since a second insole in such a situation is not the best solution.

Protection against moisture penetration inside.

In this case, it does not mean the material from which the hunting shoes are made, but the location of the fasteners or lacing. It is this part of the boots that is the most vulnerable in terms of security. When choosing shoes for hunting, you should find out whether they have so-called protective valves. Otherwise, even when walking across the field, your feet will quickly get wet, since the chain (with rare exceptions) lines up and starts moving early in the morning, when there is still dew on the grass. By the way, neglect of this “detail” is one of the main reasons why novice fishermen quickly leave the race.

Air permeability.

If autumn hunting is not carried out in wetlands, then you need to pay attention to the material. Natural rubber, rubber varieties are clearly not the best choice. In such sealed shoes, a greenhouse effect occurs quite quickly. The result is sweating of the feet, wet socks, insoles and hypothermia. You won’t be able to withstand walking hunting in such boots for long, especially in winter. Execution of the sole. An equally important component of high-quality hunting shoes, especially in winter, when there are often areas with hardened soil or ice along the way. The sole must have a tread pattern, and a distinct one, with deep cutouts. Otherwise, it is impossible to achieve reliable adhesion of shoes to the soil. If boots have smooth soles, then they are definitely not suitable for hunting, no matter how good they are in all other respects. Although there are shoes with removable spikes, which are convenient to move on any soil, be it rocky rocks or plowing.

There are a number of other parameters that influence the choice, but they are not decisive. For example, the color design of a product. Many hunters wear camouflage robes and overalls over their clothes. In this case, is camouflage shoes really necessary if they are hidden? To select the optimal model of boots for hunting, the criteria listed above are sufficient.

In order not to make a mistake in your choice, it is better to seek help from professional managers and consultants of the SPECNAZ DV company.

Top 6. MuckBoot

Rating (2020): 4.52

  • Nomination

    Iconic American shoes for hunting and more. A brand with a long history that has become legendary in the USA and Canada.

  • Characteristics
      Price range: 5,000 - 10,000 rubles.
  • Homeland of the brand: USA
  • Production sites: USA, Canada, China, Malaysia
  • Year founded: unknown
  • Official website: muckbootcompany.com

Rubber boots can also be legendary. The American company MuckBoot has proven this. Initially, she developed shoes for rural areas. In these boots you don’t have to worry about mud on the roads or wet feet. The boots were quickly appreciated by fans of fishing and hunting, which is why the company began producing specialized shoes, which just as quickly won men’s hearts. In America this is the most popular brand, but in Russia and the CIS countries it is not represented so widely. Even production sites in Asia were unable to significantly reduce the price tag. And without legendary status in our country, these are ordinary winter boots that don’t stand out much from other brands.

Advantages and disadvantages

  • Popular manufacturer in the USA
  • High strength
  • Unreasonably high prices

Shoe requirements

When choosing winter boots for hunting and fishing, you must take into account the requirements for their functionality:

  • Weight . Boots should be light, despite the many layers of insulation, as well as the heaviness of the sole.
  • Sustainability . Their soles must be equipped with grooved treads. Otherwise, the owner of the boots will not be able to stand on various surfaces: ice, unsteady or muddy soil.
  • High thermal insulation . Feet in boots should not freeze or get wet at different temperatures. And also they should not sweat when it gets warm.
  • Reliability of coverage . Boots should not crack due to low temperatures.
  • Removable insulation . In high-quality models of boots, the layers of insulation can be replaced with new ones if cleaning and drying are necessary.
  • Correctly selected size . Boots should fit true to size, or 1-2 sizes larger. Otherwise, when waiting for a long time for prey, the ankle and foot itself will experience discomfort: fatigue, the appearance of calluses, diaper rash, or vice versa, frostbite.
  • The structure of the boot top . On high-quality popular models, a comfortable lace is sewn into the top of the boot boot, which tightens the edges of the boot and prevents moisture and dirt from getting inside the shoe. Winter boots for fishing and hunting should not fit the leg; there should be room for warm socks and thick pants.

Important! When choosing winter boots for hunting and fishing, you must be guided by the height of the shin for walking through high standing water or snowdrifts. If the water/snow level is high, your foot may get wet.

When purchasing men's winter boots for fishing and hunting, you need to consider the weather conditions in which they will be used and in which region. Also expect that active recreation may last for several days. The comfort and safety of shoes in this case are extremely important. Based on these indicators, consumers can choose the appropriate type of shoes:

  1. Polyurethane.
    High resistance to deformation, medium weight and protection from low temperatures down to -80. Rubber shoes with internal insulation . The cuff is made of neoprene, which gives them lightness and elasticity. The internal insulation is multi-layered and can be removed. The boots are made from a cast boot. In such shoes you can safely go hunting or fishing at a temperature of -25 C.
  2. Shoes made from polyurethane . The advantage of such shoes is their high thermal insulation performance. It also has anti-slip properties. The boots are distinguished entirely, and this ensures durability and water resistance. Since this material has a porous structure, it reduces the weight of boots by up to 30%.
  3. Boots for winter hunting and fishing made of EVA . This is a modern artificial material with a high level of frost resistance. This material is also characterized by the necessary lightness and elasticity, which makes it a leader in the production of winter boots for outdoor activities. Also on the list of its advantages is excellent hydrophobicity.
  4. Eva.
    Lightweight material. Less durable than polyurethane, but lighter. "Canadian" boots . They combine rubber galoshes and canvas tops. Extremely convenient for long stays in damp areas with high water levels or snow. Sometimes leather or its substitute is used instead of canvas inserts. Frost resistance of this combination of materials is assessed at -40 C.
  5. Insulated boots . These shoes are made from artificial leather or genuine leather. The inside of the boots is lined with several layers of synthetic insulation. Or natural materials. Frost resistance is unique: down to -80 C. Insulation materials successfully allow excess moisture to pass out, leaving warmth inside the boots.

Types of shoes for hunting depending on the season

Winter boots and summer hunting boots aren't the only options to choose from. There are many nuances that we will dwell on in more detail.

For winter hunting

Hunting in winter often takes place in extreme conditions. This includes high snow cover, ice, frost, and strong winds. But there are several uniform requirements for winter shoes that are mandatory in any case:

  • increased thermal insulation;
  • waterproof;
  • correctly selected size;
  • comfortable shoe;
  • non-slip sole.

There are options with ski mounts, since it is more convenient to move on snow in the absence of crust. For walking hunting, boots should be light, pay attention to this, otherwise you will get tired quickly.

For winter hunting the following are used:

  • felt boots for high snow cover;
  • high boots, an alternative to which are Canadian boots made of genuine leather, canvas or synthetics with rubber galoshes;
  • insulated boots made of ethylene vinyl - when there is a thaw in winter;
  • boots - in case of low snow cover.

For autumn and spring hunting

In the off-season, very difficult conditions arise for hunters: sticky mud in the fall, or snow porridge in the spring. But it is then that hunting is more successful than in winter or summer. You need to prepare for the difficult off-season and choose the right boots or waterproof boots.

For summer

In summer, boots or light boots are used. An excellent option are models made of genuine leather, which allow your feet to breathe, are comfortable and last a long time. These could also be sneakers that are great for walking.

Depending on the type of hunt

Hunters and fishermen need boots of completely different quality. According to the season, they should be warm or light. If you prefer duck hunting, then high wading boots won't hurt either. Any boots or shoes should not have smooth soles - this is a mandatory requirement for all types of hunting shoes.

If you have the most ordinary rubber boots, bought on the market for 300-500 rubles, we can say that you are familiar with the products of the famous Rapala brand. The fact is that the company specializes in the manufacture of fishing baits. Shoes and other accessories for them are just one of the areas of activity, and not the most important. They don't bother with design here. Winter models have a lining, summer ones are supplied without it. That's all the difference. It doesn't even matter whether the models are male or female. In general, the most ordinary product from the most famous manufacturer.

Classification of shoes for hunting

There are three main groups of it, depending on the intended use and performance characteristics.

Rubber boots

Unlike traditional rubber boots, they are equipped with special liners that simultaneously serve as insulation and shock absorber. But they are only suitable for autumn and early winter, since at temperatures below -8 ºС they lose elasticity, and their feet begin to freeze. Typically purchased for hunting waterfowl or in wetlands.

Canadian boots

A modernized version consisting of two “structural” parts. The bottom is galoshes made of high-quality rubber, the top is leather (expensive models of shoes for hunting), tarpaulin or synthetics. These boots are ideal for winter, especially since you can choose the most suitable thermal insulation insoles from the same manufacturer for local conditions - wool, synthetic, felt and even fur.

How to choose the right pot for a camping trip - types of pots and practical tips

In such boots the hunter will be comfortable, even if the temperature outside is extremely low - down to -45. Your feet will definitely not freeze. Such models are popular among winter fishing enthusiasts, polar explorers, and ski tourists.

Boots

Not only specimens are suitable for hunting if the documentation for them (or on the tags) indicates exactly this purpose. Similar shoes are produced for climbers, skiers, and military personnel. The main thing is that it (and its equipment) meet the requirements for it.

The factories are located in the city of Pskov, where winter is real, so the models clearly correspond to their intended purpose. What to look for when purchasing

There are several nuances of shoes for winter active recreation. For example:

  1. When shoes of this type are made, they are not glued together, but parts of the boots are welded into each other;
  2. When choosing boots made of EVA, it is worth considering that they are not puncture resistant;
  3. After purchasing boots for winter hunting and fishing, they must be worn in;
  4. With the most elastic sole, your feet will feel less tired;
  5. It is easier to care for shoes that have a removable thermal insulation insert;
  6. When purchasing boots, you should take care in specialized stores to avoid purchasing counterfeits;
  7. The deeper the tread pattern, the greater the stability of the boots.

It is necessary to summarize, taking into account the variety of information presented. Shoes for winter hunting and fishing must be worn in first. When purchasing, you need to take 1-2 sizes larger than regular shoes, but with about the same instep. Care for your shoes based on the material they are made from and check your boots beforehand. Criterias of choice

The main selection criteria include: material of manufacture, sole, height, weight, size and lacing (if any).

Materials

Modern hunting shoes are constructed from high-quality natural and/or technologically advanced artificial materials. They are often combined to achieve better functionality and reliability.

Membrane/membrane fabric , for example Gore-Tex. Protects from moisture, but at the same time does not create a greenhouse effect. Very light, just one layer of high-quality material is enough. When using a Gortex membrane, you get excellent waterproof boots for hunting. An important condition for using shoes with a membrane coating is that they should not be overheated (in the sun, near a fire), otherwise the properties will be lost.

Neoprene is a lightweight, flexible, elastic material that retains heat well and does not allow moisture to enter.

Rubber (PVC). Will not withstand temperatures below 0°C and will not protect against cold. It does not allow moisture to pass through at all, but sweat will remain inside. It is not recommended to wear without insulating inserts.

Polyurethane (PU) and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). Durable material, but heavy. Retains heat well.

Ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA) – Durable, lightweight, reliable material that holds heat well. Hunting shoes made from it have orthopedic properties.

Cordura - Nylon fabric impregnated with a water-repellent layer and coated with polyurethane.

Leather is a classic natural material that allows the foot to “breathe”. Comfortable to wear, as the skin is able to “remember” the anatomy of the leg.

Nubuck is made from cattle leather. Wear-resistant, durable, when treated with fat impregnation, nubuck hunting shoes acquire water-repellent properties.

It is difficult to give preference to any particular material; each is good in certain conditions. You should trust the manufacturers and, after carefully studying the characteristics, make a choice based on your needs.

Sole

The structure of the classic sole is as follows:

  • Lightweight ventilated insole lining;
  • layer made of foam polyurethane (takes the shape of the foot);
  • shock-absorbing layer with instep support, preventing lateral twisting and reducing recoil when walking;
  • the sole itself is grooved for better traction (most often made of rubber).

A few more points worth noting:

  • heat-insulating properties, here the main role is played by the thickness of the sole and the material;
  • rubber welt around the perimeter, protecting the boots from damage;
  • Possibility of combining with crampons and skis.

The best results in the production of soles are from the Italian company Vibram, which specializes in the production of only this shoe part. Shoes with Vibram soles are a guarantee of reliability on the most difficult routes.

Height

It is very easy to get injured while hunting, especially in areas with rocks and elevation changes. The higher the shoes, the less likely it is to damage the ankle joint. This applies more to lace-up hunting boots than to boots. To ensure reliable fixation of the joint, the length of the shaft should be at least 12–14 cm. Higher shoes will lead to unnecessary weight.

Another reason for choosing a high boot is the nature of the obstacles: the height of the snow cover, tall wet grass, the presence of streams and rivulets along the way that need to be forded. It is logical that the lower the shoes, the more likely it is that snow or water will get inside.

In dry summer weather there is no need for a high top, and men's winter shoes for severe frosts should be high and wide enough to easily tuck in the trousers.

Weight

Each type of shoe has its own weight requirements. Light shoes are more comfortable during long treks, while heavy ones are more functional. Shoes for mountains or rough terrain and winter ones weigh more. Boots for dry summer weather and relatively flat terrain are lightweight.

Weight depends on the following factors:

  • material (artificial is lighter than natural);
  • sole (high-quality porous materials that provide good shock absorption, thermal insulation, but the weight remains at a comfortable level);
  • accessories and amplifiers (lacing rings and hooks, additional materials in places subject to friction, etc.);
  • size and height.

Size

Small shoes will be cold, calluses will appear, and it’s just uncomfortable to be in them for a long time. If it is large, the leg will dangle, which will also lead to calluses and injuries. The same goes for width.

It is better to choose a boot size that is 1–1.5 larger than regular city shoes. The distance from the toes to the toe of the shoe should be approximately a centimeter. To check this, you need to move your foot towards the toe, and place your finger between the heel and the shoe. The toes were bent in the joints - the shoe was too small, the sock was missing - it was too big, just touched it - it was suitable.

Before buying hunting shoes, you need to not only try them on, but also walk around the store for about 20 minutes so that they warm up, otherwise they will seem stiff and uncomfortable. It is best to measure with the insole and socks (liners) that you plan to wear with, especially when choosing winter shoes. Your toes should move freely in properly sized shoes.

Lacing

Correct lacing will help the boot “sit” on the foot and avoid many troubles (injuries, blisters). It’s good if the rings and/or hooks are positioned so that the foot and boot can be tightened with different forces. It is better to lace the foot more tightly, the boot - looser.

Let's start with the fact that the brand is a subsidiary of the world-famous Salmo brand, which until recently produced fishing accessories. Now the range has expanded thanks to the production of equipment, including shoes. Norfin knows exactly what equipment should be. The company produces warm and regular boots of high quality and at an attractive price. This is all thanks to the location of production sites in Asia, which does not in any way affect the reliability of the product.

A brief overview of the main manufacturers of hunting shoes and their cost

Prices are approximate, in Russian rubles.

As a rule, amateur hunters go out into nature occasionally, a couple of times a month, so it makes no sense to purchase separate autumn and winter options. It makes much more sense to buy shoes that are equally suitable for any season. But it’s hard to say whether it’s worth saving or focusing only on well-known manufacturers. This is relevant for commercial hunters who are constantly in extreme conditions.

For irregular trips, according to the author, you can limit yourself to buying budget shoes. Moreover, much is determined not only by the quality of the product, but also by the carefulness of the owner, the organization of appropriate shoe care, the conditions in which a person prefers to hunt, and a number of other factors. And since such models are relatively cheap, if they are unsuitable for further use, the next purchase will not be too burdensome for the family budget.

Moreover, branded models, along with their advantages, also have some disadvantages. It is pointless to list them, since each manufacturer’s shoes have their own positive and negative characteristics, which determine the specifics of their use (in relation to hunting conditions). In addition, this article is not an advertisement, and more specific information can be easily found on the website of the dealer or manufacturer.

The best Hatsan air rifles: prices and model characteristics

Among the “branded” products, one can highlight products from North American companies, for which professional reviews are more than laudatory - models under the brands “Baffin Trapper”, “Baffin Titan” . The price of boots starts from 6,680 (42 rubles).

If we focus on cheaper shoes for hunting, then in this price segment the products under the brand “Lemigo” (Poland) . Good boots can be purchased for 2,900 – 3,100.

Among domestic shoes for hunting, products under the brands “ Husky”, “ROKS”, “ARDT”, “NordMan”, “Jnt” and a number of others are in demand. In principle, the list of Russian manufacturing companies is quite impressive. For amateur hunters who travel outside the city only occasionally, shoes from the Russian Federation are even better.

  • Firstly, domestic manufacturers take into account the specifics of our climate, which they know firsthand, unlike foreign ones.
  • Secondly, in terms of basic characteristics, “native” shoes are not much inferior to their imported counterparts. And this is not advertising, but a statement of fact - market relations have forced companies to think about the quality of the final product.
  • Thirdly, the cost of domestic hunting boots starts from 780 rubles. Even if they only last 2-3 seasons, there is no tragedy in that.

For those who are interested in a more extensive list, as an example we can cite the following brands of high-quality hunting shoes from the category of budget models - “ATTACKER”, “Patboots”, “BERKUT ZIPP”, “CORPORAL”, “AKU”, “ARAVI MULTICAM” . There is a choice, and a very significant one. Moreover, the price for all of these models is quite reasonable - ranging from 2,000 to 9,800 rubles.
