DIY slingshot for shooting and fishing

How to make a slingshot for fishing with your own hands

If you master some of the subtleties of baiting fish using a slingshot, then under any fishing conditions and different climatic conditions you will provide yourself with not only a good catch, but also positive emotions and pleasure from a successful fishing trip!
A slingshot is a popular fishing device designed for more accurate delivery of bait mixture to the fishing spot.

They are easy to use and facilitate the process of fishing at a distance from the shore of 30–40 meters or more.

The main element of this device is rubber. It has different hardness and thickness. In fishing stores you can purchase rubber sets separately, then the casting efficiency will increase several times:

  • soft should be used for throwing at short distances;
  • hard - for long distances.

The casting accuracy will be excellent, up to 10 cm. Especially if you practice a little before fishing, with pebbles, for example.

Types of slingshots

Divided into two types:

Make it a rule, on every fishing trip, the first thing you do is start.

  • light, for crumbly bait;
  • for various mixtures in lumps (balls).

The first ones are used for throwing pellets, maggots, etc. to the fishing site. You can throw a small amount of bait over short distances, up to 20 meters. They are equipped with small cups, so the mixture can only hold a little.

The second type is more common - you can throw it easily and far:

  • bait mixture in large balls, for the first feeding of the place;
  • accurately send smaller balls for periodic feeding to the same place.

The rubber is already harder and heavier, the cup is larger, shaped like a cone or mesh, solid:

  • conical - it is more appropriate to use for a crumbly mixture that includes large granules;
  • mesh - designed for small lumps of bait.

Each type of such slingshots has a different container for bait, in which you can place:

  1. feeding balls;
  2. feed bloodworm with soil;
  3. maggot with soil, etc.

Do it yourself

Although the modern market is overflowing with all kinds of bait slingshots for every taste, nevertheless, some more experienced fishermen prefer to make them with their own hands. Moreover, such designs are not inferior to their factory counterparts in flight range and accuracy, and even in strength. Making a slingshot is not difficult; you don’t need any special expenses or skill.

The first thing you need to do is decide on the type of slingshot.

If you decide to use a slingshot for the first time, then the ideal option is a cup-basket. It is more universal and easier to learn.

Required:

  • buy a rubber Pezzer catheter at the pharmacy;
  • a piece of raw thread, or waxed silk;
  • a small piece of leather (a piece from the top of a chrome boot);
  • find a Y-shaped fork in the forest;
  • knife, scissors.

The most successful and simplest manufacturing option:

  1. Cut a Y-shaped fork from a living tree.
  2. We remove the bark and clean it.
  3. We dry it in a warm place for about a month (at least).
  4. Cut transverse circular recesses in the upper part.
  5. We take 2 pieces of the catheter, place them on the grooves, one at a time, and tie them tightly.
  6. Secure at the top with a strong thread.
  7. Cut out a future bowl from a piece of leather and cut holes on the sides.
  8. Attach the cup to the free ends using thread.

Operating a slingshot

A slingshot, like any thing, requires certain settings before use. During operation, it may deteriorate, which requires further repair.

Setting up a slingshot involves adjusting it to shoot strictly at the desired distance. This is done by shortening the valley of the rubber bands. Moreover, they do this in such a way that when fully stretched, the strands stretch to the limit of their elasticity and enter the elastic stretching mode.

When setting up, in order to achieve accuracy when sending balls, you can change the thickness of the rubber bands. This operation allows you to achieve accurate hits with a spread of 2...3 m from the fishing center.

Repair of the slingshot may be necessary if, for example, the rubber bands are torn. This problem can be solved in different ways:

  • replacing the torn cord with a new one;
  • tying the ends of the segments: tying the segments themselves with a knot; Place the ends of the segments one on top of the other and rewind the place with thread.

When the handle bends, it is straightened. If the damage is serious, then you can bend another handle from the wire.

You can replace the rubber bands in a slingshot by purchasing the same new ones. A cheaper option is to use a Pezzer catheter, which is sold in pharmacies. The worst option, however, is to cut strands from sheet rubber or latex.

Using a slingshot

It is recommended to hold the slingshot not horizontally, but only vertically, so that the strands are in a vertical plane. This is the only way to achieve the greatest accuracy - shooting at an angle to the horizontal plane. Any object reaches its best flight range when its firing angle reaches 45° to the horizon.

This means that the bait ball must also be released at this angle, it will continue to fly this way. There is no need to change the angle of the shot; this can have a detrimental effect on the range and accuracy of the flight. The tourniquet must be stretched with maximum effort during the shot. It is advisable to make bait balls of the same weight and size.

How to shoot with a slingshot correctly?

To learn how to cast bait correctly, you need to hold the slingshot correctly in your hands. On fishing trips you can see how some fishermen, incorrectly holding a slingshot in their fingers, shoot, as they say, at sparrows. The mistake was that the tool was held horizontally, but it should have been held vertically. In this case, the bundles will also be positioned vertically.

With this option, you can achieve the correct angle of the shot to the horizontal plane. This angle, as previously stated, should be 45 degrees. With this value, the ball will fly as far as possible. The result is an ideal trajectory in the form of a parabola.

Gusty and side winds make casting very difficult. It’s good when it’s not constant or very strong.

In such situations, you should either wait for a short lull, or use hard ropes, thanks to which you can give the balls good acceleration. When there is a crosswind, adjusting the casting angle helps to accurately cast the balls.

When there is a headwind, you need to stretch the rubber more to break through the air flow.

Blitz tips

The skill of using a slingshot will appear after several fishing trips. The eyes and hands will begin to adapt themselves and understand at what angle they need to cast to the planned distances. You will only be able to vary your efforts when stretching the elastic band to increase flight accuracy.

The wind always becomes a hindrance:

  • Lateral - the casting distance will, of course, remain the same, but the bait will scatter a little along the wiring line.
  • Head-on - the distance will change when throwing, especially during gusty winds. We need to wait, wait for at least a little calm.

Slingshots of a new design will soon go on sale; it was invented by the British. The handle will serve as a place for tamping the feed. There the food will turn into a dense cylinder, and from there it should fly out over long distances.

The Shcherbakov brothers in the 60th issue recommend retracting the hand with the slingshot, and the cone with food is fixed at one point.

Why do you need a slingshot when fishing?

Using a slingshot helps lure fish to a new location. It is easy to bait fish at close range, but when fishing with long casts it is difficult to control the accuracy of the cast. To do this, use a slingshot - with its help you can increase the casting accuracy and throwing range for any type of bait.

Most experienced fishermen use homemade bait. Dense circles are formed from the mixed mass, which are quite heavy.

Types of slingshots

Depending on the type of bait, a slingshot for fishing can be of two types: for light food and for bait mixtures. You should choose a suitable model based on the type of bait.

For fine or crumbly feed

It is used for throwing feed consisting of individual particles that do not crush into a dense mass: maggots, pellets and others. Such products are equipped with cups that hold a small amount of complementary foods.

You can throw it at a distance of up to 20 m, since the cup of such a slingshot is made of lighter material, and the elastic band is much thinner.

To make the complementary feeding process more effective, it is recommended to include several slingshots with elastic bands of different lengths in your mandatory set of fishing tackle. This way you can distribute complementary foods over a larger area.

For bait balls

The bait ball is a small dense lump that is formed from a viscous feed mass. It is useful to use them for the first feeding in a new place or periodic supplementary feeding. Slingshots for bait balls are equipped with large round cups. They are made of hard, heavy rubber - this allows you to strengthen the throw and increase the casting distance.

The cup can be solid or mesh. The solid one has a slightly convex bottom, it is heavier and larger. It is inconvenient to use: the ball can stick to the bottom, and the accuracy of the sight will be lost.

The mesh cup gives better results. It can be used to throw several small balls and large balls. The elastic on such a product should be short and thick, otherwise it will not support the weight of the cup, and the bait will crumble.

Slingshot for fishing: purpose, device, manufacturing methods

Fishing is a common way of spending leisure time; for some it is a favorite hobby, while others go to the pond for the sake of a sporting hobby. The main thing is that all fishermen enjoy the process. And of course, everyone wants to bring home a good catch, and ideally a memorable trophy, which they will remember for a long time as a source of pride.

All fishermen, from professionals to amateurs, try to use various methods to improve fishing performance. Feeding the fish in the immediate place where the bait is cast is of no small importance.

But how to deliver bait to the required point? A fishing slingshot is a device that, when used correctly, ensures precise delivery of food to the planned area.

Bait is the key to effective fishing

Bait is an important fishing attribute that should be taken care of in advance. Especially if you plan to hunt fish with specific tastes. The modern fishing products industry offers a wide selection of these products. There are baits:

All this diversity is developed by scientific chemists, ichthyologists, and researchers in order to ensure maximum bite. So, what does feeding fish provide:

  • attracting individuals to bait;
  • contributes to an exacerbation of hunger in aquatic inhabitants;
  • relaxes the attention, caution of the fish.

Many fishermen prepare bait with their own hands; everyone has their own recipes. This process is simple, and the necessary products are most often available in any home. At the same time, finances are saved significantly, and there is also the opportunity to generously feed the fish.

Feeding fish using slingshots

At close distances, you can successfully throw bait with your hands. Of course, we are talking about a distance of up to 20 meters. But when the question is about long-distance casting, it is difficult to do without a bait slingshot.

Or rather, it is possible without it, but achieving the goal will be very approximate, which will significantly reduce the likelihood and frequency of biting. True, you will have to set aside a little time to acquire a certain skill.

Correct use of a slingshot provides the following advantages when introducing complementary foods:

  • range;
  • accuracy;
  • speed.

This tool is also indispensable if you are caught by wind on a pond, especially a headwind and gusty one. It creates certain difficulties, even if a fishing slingshot is used, but it greatly simplifies the process.

Advice!

In strong winds, you should wait for the moment between gusts and cast during this period of time.

But not only the slingshot affects the accuracy of bait casting. Strength, speed, range largely depend on the size and weight of the bait balls. They need to be sculpted of the same shape and density.

That is, it is important to take a constantly equal amount of food from the total mass and create balls from it, squeezing the mass with the same force. Again, to achieve this you need to get used to it.

Take this issue seriously, since even a slight difference in the mass of the balls significantly affects the accuracy of long-distance casting.

How do slingshots for fishing work?

The slingshot device has been known to many since adolescence. The slingshot for bait has the same design and principle of operation as those from which pebbles were thrown in childhood. They consist of a handle, harnesses and a cup for placing complementary foods. But the system is slightly different, depending on the purpose of the tool. Highlight:

  1. Slingshots for small feed. Suitable for spreading complementary foods in the upper layers of water. Often this is a light crumbly mass - maggots, pellets or mixtures that interest the fish. After casting the float, you need to constantly feed maggots in small portions to create a flow of sinking bait, including bait with a hook. It is better to choose a non-rigid cup, in the shape of a small cone, to prevent premature loss of components. And also be sure to choose a handle that is comfortable for your hand, since this device will be in it constantly.

Advice

! When choosing a slingshot, you need to take into account the thickness of the elastic band; the further you want to throw the food, the thicker the ropes should be.

It’s good if a fisherman has several such devices in his arsenal. This makes it possible not to become a hostage to a situation, such as a change in the usual fishing place and, as a result, inability to throw bait.

A homemade slingshot is a good alternative to a store-bought one. It’s not difficult to do, especially since the male sex has had these skills since adolescence. The only thing you need to take into account is that you will need more durable raw materials, since the weight of the bait balls is rather large.

The handle can be cut out of habit from tree branches of suitable thickness. The base is cleared of bark, sanded to remove small knots and dried well (if the branch is freshly cut, it is advisable to dry it for a month).

In the upper part of the bait slingshot, round transverse cuts are made, in which the free ends of the elastic are secured with a strong thread. A leather cup is fitted to the other ends.

For this purpose, holes are made in a thick piece of leather, and ropes are pulled through them and secured with thread.

When choosing source materials, fishermen use a free flight of imagination. A medical tourniquet is excellent as an elastic band; it is quite strong and stretches well, but you can choose an elastic band of the required thickness in hardware stores.

Anything that is unnecessary is used as a handle, for example, handles from an old saw, bicycle, or roller. Roller rods, thick wire, and rods are also suitable for branching. You can secure the branch tightly in the handle with an epoxy mixture. If you cover the rod with heat shrink tubing, you will get an excellent handle.

Advice!

The cup can be made from the neck of a plastic bottle, which is placed in the hole of a leather flap. A small lip under the neck provides additional rigidity and a comfortable grip for the fingers.

How to make a slingshot for fishing with your own hands

A homemade slingshot is not inferior to a store-bought one in terms of quality and efficiency and will exactly match the fishing characteristics of the selected body of water. In addition, the materials for it are much cheaper.

To make a slingshot, you can use available materials. The hardest part is making the handle. A branch with a fork, rods from old rollers or thick wire are suitable for it.

The main thing is that the handle is comfortable, and the ends of the spear are the same length and thickness. If wire is chosen as the material, it must be bent several times and wrapped with electrical tape on top - this will make the handle stronger.

In addition to the handle, to make a slingshot for fishing with your own hands you will need:

  • rubber catheter or strong elastic band;
  • insulating tape;
  • thick fabric or leather;
  • scissors;
  • strong thread.

For the first product, it is best to choose a cup-basket. It is easy to make and suitable for any type of complementary feeding. First you need to cut out a blank for the cup from the selected material.

It should be no more than 10-12 cm in diameter, otherwise the finished structure will be too bulky. You need to cut two holes along the edges of the workpiece at the same level - the elastic will be attached through them.

A piece of elastic no more than 0.5 m long should be cut in half. Place one edge of each piece into the hole and tie it with a tight loop, attach the second to the top of the spear using electrical tape. The edge of the elastic band, fixed in the cup, can be additionally secured by tying a knot with thread.

The resulting product should fit comfortably in your hand. The length of the two pieces of elastic must be the same, otherwise you will not be able to make a throw. Making a slingshot for fishing with your own hands is a simple process, but it requires care and precision.

Correct shooting technique

This concept includes two components: aiming and the hunter's stance. By mastering both correctly, you can achieve amazing results. Experienced hunters are able to hit a target that is not standing still. And it’s also not uncommon to shoot while you’re on the move.

In this light, two aiming techniques are worth considering.

Instinctive shooting

This method is based more on imagination and feelings, although it does not abolish the laws of physics. Aiming is done with both eyes, and the slingshot is controlled by sensations, because it is completely outside of direct gaze. When the hunter feels that the direction of fire has been chosen correctly, by lowering his hand with the leatherette clamped in his fingers, the trajectory and flight range of the projectile is adjusted.

The undoubted advantage of this aiming method is that the shooter does not care which eye he sees better. But the disadvantages include two facts:

  • If a hunter is poorly able to imagine the trajectory of a projectile, he is unlikely to achieve any success. This is the very imagination on which the method is based.
  • The second is the fact that after replacing a worn out harness, you will have to spend some time shooting.

Mastering this method requires long training. But having mastered it, the hunter is unlikely to leave the forest without trophies.

Aiming with an eye

Installing a landmark on a slingshot for hunting can significantly increase the efficiency and accuracy of shooting even for an inexperienced shooter. But there are some nuances here:

  • You will have to aim with one eye, the one that is sharper.
  • The reference point should be set slightly to the side, since the hand with the skin will be in close proximity to the face, and this fact can negatively affect accuracy.
  • When choosing a reference overlay, you need to ensure that it matches your individual color sensibilities.

The essence of aiming with an eye comes down to the following: three points must be lined up on one line. Eye, sight and target. The flight range is determined in the same way as in the previous method.

A well-made and individually adjusted eye can easily be used with several types of slingshots, simply by moving it from one to another, which can significantly improve hunting results.

Hunter Stance

When hunting with a slingshot, sometimes there is no time left to take the correct stance. Find support for your feet, fall on one knee, or vice versa, straighten up. All these movements in the forest, where any movement means danger for the animal, can scare away the prey, and you will have to spend some more time searching for it. Therefore, the hunter’s stance comes down to two concepts, from which the method of aiming follows.

  • In move. Experienced shooters advise not to try to keep the sight exactly on the target while moving. It is almost impossible to do this, and by and large it is not required. The sight can move along a certain trajectory, the ideal example of which would be the infinity sign - an eight falling on its side. The junction of the imaginary lines will be the aiming point. As soon as the shooter feels that the movements have converged at this point, and it, in turn, coincides with the target, a shot is fired. "Infinity" is not the only option. The trajectory of the sight should be selected individually.
  • Fixed aiming. At first glance, nothing complicated. Point the sight at the target, make sure that all three points coincide and release the skin. But there are subtleties here too. Learning to hold a tense slingshot straight throughout the entire time of sight is not easy. And one more thing: between the moment when the sight found the target and the shot, the delay should be 5, maximum 7 seconds. In the forest when hunting, this method is rarely used, since you can’t sit in an ambush with a slingshot, so this method of aiming is more suitable for sports competitions and shooting.

In general, there are nuances. However, having mastered all these skills, you can safely take the slingshot into service.

Slingshot feeding technique

In order for feeding fish using slingshots to be effective, you must adhere to several rules when using it:

  1. To achieve an accurate throw, the slingshot should not be held straight, but slightly tilted back. This makes it easier to throw bait over a long distance and set the desired flight path.
  2. It is more convenient to hold the product vertically rather than horizontally. The tourniquet should be pulled as tight as possible. If the rubber for the slingshot was chosen of poor quality or too thin, it will burst when stretched. Therefore, you should test it before fishing: stretch it strongly several times, pointing it in different directions. A good quality elastic band will stretch evenly and elastically.
  3. The bait balls must be the same weight and size, otherwise, with the same casting force, they will scatter at different distances.
  4. You should not change the casting angle - it is easier to control the flight range and accuracy if you throw the balls from one position.

The wind can interfere with the normal flight of the bait ball. If it blows from the side, it will not affect the casting distance, but it will affect the accuracy, and the feed may scatter along the wiring line. In a headwind, the ball will not be able to overcome the resistance; it will be thrown back.

Specifics of feeding

Starter feeding, as a rule, is characterized by an abundant supply of bait to the point. Usually 10 or more balls the size of an orange are thrown. During the fishing process, the point is supplemented with balls of smaller diameter. In this case, it is convenient to use bowls of different sizes.

The rubber band will determine the bait casting distance. To learn how to throw balls accurately, you need to practice.

Take, for example, one tourniquet, attach it to a slingshot and simply shoot pebbles in an open area. In order for the balls to always fly the same distance, you need to learn how to pull the rubber to the same length.

This is achieved through short but persistent training. After numerous casts, you will know exactly how long you need to stretch the rubber to throw the ball at a distance of 40 or 50 meters.

It is clear that the stones fly further than the bait balls. To increase the flight range, they are weighted with clay or soil. This is also done if we are fishing in medium and strong currents.

And here's what you need to know: Where, how and what to catch mullet

How to achieve good accuracy? To always send the balls to the same place, experienced fishermen and athletes choose the ideal length of the rope. Usually they just shorten it and throw the balls at a 45 degree angle, stretching the rubber to the desired length.

Thus, they fly in the correct trajectories and at a good speed, which evenly fades when the flight passes from the take-off stage to the fall stage.

It must be remembered that a shortened harness wears out faster and the rubber loses its properties. This doesn't happen quickly, so don't worry about it. Moreover, the harnesses are sold in sets of several pieces.

DIY fishing slingshot

Catching fish with long casting implies precision and efficiency of feeding at a considerable distance from the shore. Therefore, for this purpose, many people use slingshots for feeding fish, which significantly facilitate this process.

Most fishermen use homemade bait when fishing, which is made from a variety of components and in different ways. As a rule, the resulting mixture forms circles that have a very decent weight. For this reason, making a power cast is quite difficult and ineffective. When fishing at a great distance from the shore, it is almost impossible to cast bait. It is for such cases that it is recommended to use a bait slingshot, designed for easy casting to the required distance. It is recommended to use them in areas with a distance of more than 30 m.

Types of slingshots for fishing

Based on their functional characteristics, bait slingshots are divided into several types.

Slingshots used for fine or crumbly feed

This type of slingshot is used by fishermen to feed fish in the upper part of the water horizon. The design consists of a cup, a handle and an elastic band. It is better to make the shape of the cup cone-shaped and not made of hard material, which will protect the complementary foods from premature rash.

The thickness of the elastic band is responsible for the distance of casting: the thicker it is, the farther the bait will fly. For greater convenience, it is recommended to design several slingshots with different types of elastic bands. The size and shape of the handle should be small and quite comfortable.

Slingshots for throwing larger bait balls

The use of slingshots of this type is more in demand and popular nowadays. The range of products is also quite extensive. They consist of a cup, an elastic band and a handle, as in the previous version.

Slingshots have two types of cups: mesh and cone-shaped. Mesh cups are considered more effective and efficient; the bait is not crushed and is securely held inside. Mesh baskets are an excellent option for throwing both small and large balls. Cone-shaped baskets will help in starting feeding using many small balls. When choosing an elastic band, you also need to base it on the thickness, which determines the throwing distance.

Slingshot device

No man needs to explain what a slingshot looks like. A homemade slingshot, made from scrap materials, has been in the hands of almost every boy. But it still doesn’t hurt to remember. Moreover, modern hunting slingshots have undergone some improvements, and manufacturers no longer use forked branches specially spotted on a particular tree. Although the principle remained unchanged.

So, a slingshot for hunting consists of three main parts:

  • The base, which simultaneously serves as a handle and a place for attaching the harness.
  • Tourniquet. Power and range depend on its elasticity and resilience.
  • Kozhetok. A specially selected piece of tanned leather into which the projectile is inserted.

Previously, the process of making a slingshot began with finding a suitable branch. The type of wood also mattered. Oak, ash, cherry or apple trees were best suited for this purpose. A dense forked branch was tied with twine and left for a while so that it took the desired shape. Only after this the blank for the slingshot was cut off. They removed the bark from it, polished it and burned it.

A multi-layer elastic cord was attached to the upper ends, in the middle of which a leatherette was attached - a small piece of tanned leather. Then the slingshot had to be shot, because it is impossible to make products identical in strength, range, accuracy and lethality.

Shooting principle

Ammunition

There's not too much variety here. But after many years and even centuries of practical exercises, three types of projectiles for hunting slingshots were chosen:

  • Plastic balls of various weights and sizes. They are not very effective for hunting, or more precisely, they are too light, but they are ideal for training.
  • Metal buckshot and shot. These are just combat options.
  • And, of course, small-sized and suitable-shaped pebbles. This type of shell can be easily found right on the spot.

Advantages and disadvantages

The debate on this topic will never subside. Some consider a slingshot to be an ideal weapon for hunting. Others, on the contrary, do not compare it with the same bow or hunting crossbow. And there’s nothing to say about a good branded gun or carbine. However, not all so simple.

The undeniable advantages of the slingshot:

  • Can be used under any circumstances. Even if you went into the forest to pick mushrooms or go fishing in the river, you can make a targeted shot at any time.
  • Having certain skills, preparing for a shot takes only a few seconds. Which, coupled with noiselessness, makes it possible for a second attempt to hit the target if the first was unsuccessful.
  • The slingshot is easy to carry and even with a supply of shells it is quite light.
  • Relatively high power. There are slingshots whose destructive power reaches 70 meters or more. Of course, it can’t be compared with a gun, but in a dense forest sometimes there are only ten meters left.
  • Silence.
  • And the last argument is cheapness.

What other arguments could there be that speak in favor of a hunting slingshot? They certainly exist, as well as disadvantages:

  • To learn how to properly and successfully use a slingshot for hunting, you will need many days of training.
  • Large game is not available for this type of weapon, although cases of wild boars have been reported.
  • No matter how high-quality the harness is, its service life is very limited.
  • Not a long aiming range. This point was also noted in the merits, so it all depends on the circumstances in which the slingshot is used.

This is interesting: Edible tree mushrooms

Having considered both lists and having considered what outweighs the advantages or disadvantages, you will have to make a choice: will you take the slingshot into service and go hunting for hares, squirrels and other small game. Or will you prefer a more lethal weapon, which will provide the opportunity to kill a larger animal.

How to make a slingshot for fishing with your own hands

The modern market provides a fairly large selection of bait slingshots. Nevertheless, many fishermen make models with their own hands. Homemade designs are not inferior to store-bought ones in terms of efficiency and other parameters. Making a slingshot for fishing with your own hands is quite simple and does not require any special expenses or skills.

Almost anything can be used as a material for making a slingshot. The basis of such a slingshot can be thick wire or rods from old rollers.

  • rubber;
  • insulating tape;
  • insulated single-core wire;
  • thick fabric;
  • handle (you can use an old saw or come up with your own version).

First, we bend the halves of the thick wire into a spear, then at their ends we make another horizontal bend, after which we need to wrap the halves with electrical tape and additionally with wire. The resulting mechanism is mounted on the handle of an old saw or roller. Both ends are securely and tightly fastened so that the spear does not move or dangle.

The next step is to secure the elastic band to the wire with insulating tape. At the last stage, you need to add a rectangular piece of thick fabric to the elastic, in which you need to make holes for the elastic. All components are also held together using insulating tape.

The result is an excellent slingshot with a simple design, with which you can easily carry the bait to the required distance.

How to make a slingshot from a bottle and how to make a slingshot from paper

A slingshot from a bottle does not look like ordinary homemade slingshots for hunting and entertainment. To make it, you will need a plastic bottle, a rubber fingertip (inflatable balloon or condom) and fastening material, such as electrical tape.

Cut off the neck of the bottle with a small supply of plastic in the form of a spigot and attach an elastic band to the neck into which the projectile will creep in before throwing. The power of such a slingshot is low, but if the fired projectile hits the eye, it can cause injury.

In the video below you can learn how to make a slingshot out of paper using sheets of office paper, glue and a rubber band for money.

Slingshot technique

The technology of working with a bait slingshot is also important. To achieve the best result, it is recommended to hold the slingshot not horizontally, as many people argue, but vertically. Thanks to this position, you can achieve maximum accuracy of the angle of the bait shot. At an angle of 45° you can achieve the greatest casting distance. When firing, the tourniquet must be stretched as far as possible, and the bait balls must be made of the same size and weight. So, you can easily make your own bait slingshot, and if you use these recommendations, fishing will only bring pleasure and an excellent catch.
