Perch Habitats | Where to Look for Perch?

Perch lives in almost all reservoirs of our country, with the exception of, of course, pay zones, where by and large they are not bred. Perch inhabits all rivers and lakes.

The best places for perch are snags and egg capsules, where this fish feels comfortable. Among the accumulations of snags live the largest individuals. Small perch are found in the grass.

Perch feels good in creeks and river bays, in deep and shallow water; in other words, this fish tries to occupy all horizons. Perch hunts throughout the day.

Finding this fish is quite easy; usually striped robbers chase the fry around the water area, forming so-called cauldrons. A flock of striped fish surrounds the school of fry and begins to thin it out significantly.

It is for this feature that the perch is nicknamed the robber. Perch is a daytime predator, but is not averse to hunting in the evening. In this respect, the minke whale is somewhat similar to the pike perch.

Fishing for Perch with Spinning Rods in Summer | Gear: The Right Choice

The choice of working tool directly depends on the fishing location and fishing conditions. Catching perch with a spinning rod must take into account even the smallest nuances: both for the type of fish and its size, the spinning rod must correspond to the class and range of application, from generalist to highly specialized.

Spinning Rod Selection | What to Pay Attention to?

The Light Class spinning rod is designed for medium-sized lures, namely Wobblers, Spoons and Jigs, up to the upper test limit;

For Twitching Fishing, we will again turn to the Light Stick, since we need to clearly guide the bait, we will choose the ExtraFast System, namely Super Fast;

And finally, for more delicate fishing, for retrieving super light baits, you should use Ultra Light. We will need such a tool for Microoscillators and Microjigs.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

The length of the Spinning Rod can vary from 180 to 240 centimeters. It all depends on what body of water you are fishing on. Both the length of the water area and its width are taken into account.

It even takes into account from which area you will be fishing from a boat or from the shore, so the length of the spinning rod plays an important role. After all, we need long-distance and accurate casting.

In the Practice of Perch Catching, I Selected Just a Few Spinning Rods:

One of them is a Light class stick with a length of 240 cm, and with a test from 3 to 14 grams it is none other than Pontoon 21 Sewen And Half. I use this model for fishing with Minnow and Crank Wobblers, Twitching and Various Variations of Postings are possible;

And the other stick from my collection is a Highly Specialized Blank - this is an Anres Repablik and a Jetta model with a Test from 3 to 10 grams. I use this spinning rod for fishing with Microjig.

Reel Selection | Main Requirements for Selection

The most important thing is that the Reel matches the spinning class in terms of Weight and Size. The lighter the spinning rod, the lighter the reel.

For ultralight, I use meat grinders of sizes 1000 and 1500 according to the Daiwa classification. For light, it’s more convenient for me to fish with medium-sized reels, namely 2000 and 2500.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

Since Perch Fishing with Spinning, namely in the fishing technique, Jerk Wiring, or Twitching, as you prefer, is not excluded, the reel must meet the following requirements.

Perfect laying of the fishing line is necessary and in addition to this, dropping loops is simply not allowed. And believe me, nervous untangling of loops will not lead to anything good when fishing.

In my arsenal, two Japanese reels that I can rely on have long won a place of honor: Daiwa Freams and Exist 12 in sizes 1500 and 2500. Neither one nor the other has any backlash, lays the line well, and most importantly, they have a smooth friction and the dropping of loops is completely eliminated.

Rod

If you fish on small rivers and stakes, then a short carbon rod with a length of 1.8-2.1 m is enough for you. For hunting for stripers on large rivers, reservoirs or lakes, it is better for you to take a blank with a length of 2.5 - 2.7 m .

The action of the rod is fast or ultra-fast, it is suitable for any type of bait. For targeted lure fishing, you can take a medium-action rod.

A rod with an upper test limit of 15-18 grams will be quite versatile and will allow you to fish with various types of bait. In cases of jig fishing on a river where there is a strong current, we may need rods with a test weight of up to 30 grams, designed to use heavier loads. Well, for lovers of light tackle, rods with a weight of 7-8 grams are suitable.

Coil

It should be well balanced with the rod and light in weight. For ultralight 1000-2000 according to Shimano, for regular ones 2000-2500. The reel should move smoothly and lay the line well.

fishing line

In order to obtain maximum sensitivity and quality of wiring, a braided line with a thickness of no more than 0.1 mm is used.

The use of monofilament fishing line, no more than 0.2 mm thick, allows you to make bolder hooks without fear of tearing the striper’s lip. Only normal quality wiring can be done only when fishing with a spoon.

For leashes, it is better to use fluorocarbon, since due to the refraction of light rays, it is less noticeable in the water than other fishing lines.

Braided Cord or Mono Line? | Let's figure out what's better

Among anglers who preferred perch fishing and became fans of their craft, an opinion about cord and fishing line has long been formed, and this is how it sounds:

If every fish is important to you, one hundred percent realization of all bites, then, of course, Monofilament Line will not be in competition. It has good stretch and therefore reduces fish escapes to nothing;

When it comes to Snatch Wiring and Great Sensitivity, you will inevitably have to look at Braided Cord. It has no stretch and is very durable, which means you will feel the bite in your hand.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

Whether or not to install a leash is the decision of the fisherman himself, but I proceed from the following concept. If the perch is wary and does not want to attack your bait because it simply sees the line in the water, then it makes sense to put a fluorocarbon leader.

When the Perch is actively feeding, it does not pay attention to the braided line; in this case, instead of a leash, you can use a light fastener.

Fishing for Perch with Spinning will be most successful if you use a minimum of connections, namely butt joints, this greatly affects sensitivity.

Choosing Lures for Perch Fishing in Summer

Choosing a Bait for Perch is not an easy task, sometimes it takes a lot of time to find the right bait:

If fishing is carried out far from the shore on a snagged edge or on a spit, then naturally Jig with all its different variations.

When the perch is actively feeding from the surface, then Walkers, small Cranks and Poppers are not in competition.

When it occupies medium horizons in the water, it makes sense to install a Minnow Wobbler with medium depth.

Turntables and micro-oscillators are used for fast dynamic fishing, namely when perch is highly active.

Catching Perch with Spinning and Rotating Spoons | Top Best Lures

The spinner is a classic of Perch Fishing. Accurate casting at a medium pace and perch on the tee. Currently, the spinner is the most popular bait for catching perch, and rightfully so.

I Got Excellent Results Using the Following Spoons:

Pontoon 21 Synchrony;

Ball Concept;

Mepps Aglia;

Myran.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

Effective perch fishing can be affected by both the shape of the petal and its size, and, accordingly, its color. Bright fluorescent colors are good in dark, rainy weather, while dull colors are most often used during daylight hours.

It is very good when the petal has bright dots and the hook has an edge. In this case, the number of bites increases significantly.

The spinner is good because it can fish not only vast shallow water, as is usually customary, but also all layers of water, from the surface to the bottom.

When the Perch is feeding from the Surface, a quick retrieve will provoke the striper to bite in any situation. Sometimes the slowest wiring is required, it is no less effective in some cases, but there is a drawback - the petal constantly sticks and stops rotating.

Wiring in the middle layer of water is also effective, most often it depends on what layer of water the minke whale is in.

Catching Perch with Spinning and Oscillating Spoons | Game and Posting

As for Oscillating Spoons, things are not as good as with Spinners.

The thing is that the spinner has a completely different game and wiring technique, and the perch likes this less.

You can carry out the Kolebalka on the same horizons as the Rotator, but these are two different baits with their own directions. It is best to move the oscillating spoon along the bottom, making explosions and light pulls. Perch, seeing the swarming at the bottom, reacts to this with lightning speed.

You can also give long pauses at this moment, the spoon sails in the water column, attracting the perch with the shine of its surface.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

Catching Perch with Spinning should be carried out using the smallest sizes of spinners, namely 3, 4, 5 centimeter baits. This way I catch different sized perch.

If you want to drive small perch away from your bait, then it makes sense to increase the size of the spoon. The color of the spinner also affects the bite of the perch.

Over the years of practice, I realized that stripers love not just shiny baits, but poisonous ones. Don't be afraid of red, pink, yellow and green.

When fishing for perch, I often use Trout Spoons from famous manufacturers, such as Megabas , Meps , Pontoon 21 , Acme .

Trout Lures The perch attacks with such passion that sometimes it seems that it is a pike, but in fact the perch always attacks trout spoons much more fiercely than spinners - this is the essence of such fishing.

I caught my Largest Perch using the Kolebalka, although I rarely use them. The size of the trophy was over one and a half kilograms. From that time on, I began to believe in oscillators.

An oscillating spoon is completely useless to use in shallow water. Due to its mass and geometry, the spoon will quickly fall to the bottom and cling to the grass or soil. It is possible to find something in between, but to do this you need to experiment through trial and error.

3 ways to improve your fish bite!

Big catch

Over 15 years of active fishing, I have found many ways to improve the bite, and here are the most effective:

1. Bite activator . This pheromone additive attracts fish most strongly in cold and warm water. The Fish Hungry bite activator has proven itself to be excellent - Read more…

2. Tackle with increased sensitivity . You should first familiarize yourself with the features of using a particular type.

3. Pheromone baits . They attract the attention of fish, stimulate hunger and cause a schooling reflex, which allows you to collect a lot of fish in one place.

The best element of any Oscillating Spinner is areas with great depth and, of course, Snag. The wiring technique here is completely different. We need to perform a long sailing retrieve, as a result of which the spoon oscillates smoothly.

It is during the fall of the spinner that the majority of all bites occur. This is what catching perch with an oscillating spoon is typical for.

Cicadas and Spinnerbaits | 100% Result

All Predatory Fish are impatiently awaiting the release of such a bait. Of course, you understand that we are talking about the Cicada; when it gets into the water, a stir begins, the fish strives to jump out.

When fishing with Cicada, you can be 100% sure of the result. You can carry out the cicada in the same way as the Kolebalka.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

The high-frequency play of this bait will not leave the perch on the sidelines. Jig Wiring and simply Uniform Wiring are also possible.

Small Spinner-Bates make the perch lose patience immediately when they hit the water, because the Spinner-Bate is both a Silicone and a Rotating bait rolled into one.

This type of bait creates a lot of vibration in the water, which is also accompanied by noise. And the perch is simply obliged to grab it and not swim past.

Silicone Lures | Wiring Size and Technique

Now it’s time to move on to Silicone Lures. I’ll say right away that there is no limit to your fantasies. Twisters, Vibrating Tails, Grabbers and Silicone Worms are the spectrum of silicone that I usually choose when fishing for Perch.

Most soft plastic fishing is done in deep water where the largest bass are found. It would be stupid for me to advise anything, but here are a few companies that, in my opinion, hold the palm in perch fishing:

Relax;

Action Plastic;

Mister Twister;

Manns.

Vibrating tails and Twisters from these companies always occupy a high place in my box. The most important thing is to choose the right size of bait; if the perch is active, then it is better to use a bait that has an active, realistic game.

When the Striped Activity is Low or Tends to Zero, I Apply:

Passive Silicone Worms.

Pay great attention to the Technique of Posting and Presentation of the Bait. Don't get hung up on just one Jig, because there are things that are much more effective, for example, Carolina or Texas, Drop Shot and Pull Lead.

Spinning rod equipment for perch fishing

The best tackle with which to go fishing for perch is a light spinning rod with a bait weight of up to 20 grams. Such spinning rods are quite short and allow you to cast the bait very delicately.

It is better to take a light class reel, inertia-free and with a sensitive brake. Regarding the fishing line, it should be monolithic, thickness from 0.16 to 0.22 millimeters. Yellow fluorescent fishing line will make it easier to control the movement of the bait and will not interfere with swallowing.

A monolithic stretching line and a comfortable elastic fishing rod can provide ideal “fishing” for a perch. To force the perch to unquestioningly sit on the hook, when biting you need to limit yourself to even and steady resistance to the fish.

In rivers, you can find perch in any habitat zone : in places where salt and fresh water mix, at the confluence of rivers and the sea, in bream habitats, etc. But the main habitat of perch is the area where several currents connect. These places are often home to many small fish, which he needs for food. And if there is a bridge or a deep zone nearby, then this is his favorite habitat. Perch, like any other predator, likes to hide in a “mink” before the upcoming hunt.

The variety of baits is so great that it becomes more and more difficult to understand them and choose the right bait every season. For river fishing, it is preferable to take a spinner with an oval petal. Spinner size 2 or 3. This bait moves easily and slowly with the current and spreads waves, which the predator perfectly catches with the lateral line. They awaken the instinct of a hunter in the perch, which begins to pursue even barely noticeable prey.

The transverse dark lines on the copper body greatly excite the predator, and the feathers only enhance the effect of the gear. As practice shows, it is a little more difficult to interest large perches with a spinner, in this case try to buy a wobbler with a similar decor. Also try a plastic minnow/spinner bait combo. This bait swims strictly horizontally, like a real fish.

You can find a recipe for bait for winter fishing in this article.

And here is an article about ice screws for winter fishing.

Choosing a Wobbler for Perch | 11 Main Types of Wobblers

I started my acquaintance with Perch Wobblers a long time ago. As a rule, the perch Wobbler is much smaller than the Pike one, and the perch differs from the toothy one in Size, but both of them are very fond of Minnow-type Wobblers. It is with these baits that we will begin.

The first thing I would like to say about this type of bait is that they require a certain animation, that is, jerking.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

Minnow wobblers play very actively, which is how they attract perch. I always choose Fast Pace as a retrieve, although you first need to determine the activity of the fish, and only then draw conclusions.

As a rule, if the perch is active, it takes the bait immediately on the first casts. If his activity is not all right, then naturally you need to do slow stretches, and supplement the wiring with pauses.

The color of the bait can also make a contribution; when the perch doesn’t want to bite, I put a bright-colored bait, it’s easier to provoke the predator to attack. Wobblers are also good because you can choose a model with a certain depth for different places.

There are 3 Main Types of Depth:

Shallow Runner;

Deep Runner;

Medium Runner.

Shallow Runner means that the Wobbler runs almost on the surface of the water. Such baits are good for fishing small water areas overgrown with grass and believe me, the results from them are surprising;

Medium means that the bait is in medium thickness;

Deep Runner is a Deep Sea Wobbler; usually such baits have a large blade, with the help of which the bait goes so deep.

Wobblers. Part 1 | Video

Wobbler Body Shape | Consider Different Shapes

Now let's talk about body shape. Let's start with the Minnow Wobbler. Mines are elongated baits, they are very good for twitching and have all types of depth that are available.

It’s always a pleasure to fish with Minnow wobblers, as the result is guaranteed.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

Shads are baits with a wide Body Geometry, have an active game of their own, and help out at the moment when the predator is wary. I always fish shad before winter sets in. During this period they are most effective.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

Krenk is a Pot-bellied Wobbler whose body geometry resembles a small barrel. The game of such a bait is active; most often, monotonous retrieving with pauses decides a lot; it is during this retrieving that most bites occur.

When the perch is active and chasing fry in the coastal zone, I always use Krenki, as I am 100% confident in their catchability.

Walkers | Fishing for Perch with Spinning (Summer)

Now let's look at this type of bait as Walkers .

Catching perch with a spinning rod

The Walker is a Wobbler that does not have a blade for deepening; it does not need one at all. This bait is superficial, its action resembles a dog's tail, which wags from side to side.

With proper wiring, the wolfer’s play becomes a monochromatic herringbone, and summer perch most often reacts to such fuss on the surface. Walkers come in different sizes and colors, which allows us to choose the best option for a predator, in our case a perch.

With the size, you don’t have to guess, the perch reacts perfectly even to large baits, especially this pattern helps when there is a wave on the reservoir and the striper simply cannot distinguish on the surface, a small bait from a large one, put a large Walker and go into battle!

Poppers for Perch Fishing

Now let's look at a bait like Popper. When properly positioned, poppers produce loud squelching sounds that attract bass, and sometimes the sound resembles a fry feeding on the surface.

Perches attack the bait with the whole flock; whoever catches the tee first is right. The minke whale has a highly developed sense of herd instinct, so several specimens are often caught on the hook at once.

Top Best Lures | Catching Perch with Spinning

And now the moment has come when I want to share with you the baits that work in my box. Let's start with the Minnow Wobbler.

And the first representative of this class will be Rigge 35 from ZipBaits. It was with this model that my journey into the world of Ultralight began. He twitches beautifully, and during pauses he slowly falls, swaying his sides beautifully. I never go fishing without this bait. Using this model I check the activity of fish.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

Another well-known bait is the Alter Idem from the Pontoon 21 company. I use this wobbler as an addition to the previous bait; most often this model works for me when the perch is weakly active.

The wiring is again jerky, only with pauses. This model is floating, so there are a lot of bites when it surfaces.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

Of the Shads, the most effective is Flap Slap from Megabass. Classic wiring is straight, monotonous with pauses, the wobbler hangs, large humpback fish respond very well to this model. Without this bait there is no point in even going fishing.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

Of the Walkers, my favorite is Slide Sinker from the same company. I really like this model, because when paused it slowly sinks, and when you start retrieving, this bait flies out of the water, very beautiful, I like this model. It starts up instantly and is easy to learn, I think any beginner can handle it without any problems.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

Of the Cranks, the most successful, in my opinion, will be the Z-Crank Jr , again from Megabass. This bait is a very good irritant for striped fish; if you want to achieve results, then you should definitely buy this model. And Krenk fully justifies its price tag.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

As for Poppers, here I am pragmatic and fish exclusively with one model - Pop-X , guess which company. Small splashes make the perch simply jump out of the water for this bait. You won't get bored with this popper, I highly recommend it.

Wobblers. Part 2 | Video

Perch fishing technique

To catch this predator, spinners use various types of fishing. The main types of wiring include uniform, stepped wiring and twitching.

Uniform wiring is used when using various types of baits, such as wobblers, spoons, spinners and silicone baits. This type of fishing is used in the spring and summer, when fishing is carried out at shallow depths.

Stepped wiring is used when fishing at great depths, starting from a depth of 2-2.5 meters. The wiring consists of stopping the winding after a few turns of the reel handle. During pauses, the bait begins to sink evenly to the bottom. It is very important to experimentally choose the correct ratio between pause and movement of the bait. As for catching perch, pauses can last from 1 to 8 seconds. As soon as the bait falls to the bottom, you should immediately begin reeling in the fishing line.

Twitching is a jerking retrieve with minimal pauses in warm water and pauses lasting up to 10 seconds in cold water. The twitching technique is directly related to water temperature.

Spring fishing

As soon as the rose hips begin to bloom, you can count on a steady bite from the perch. You should use a comfortable, but fairly rigid, medium or light class rod. It is possible to use baits with a length of 3 to 5 cm. During this period, when the water begins to warm up, the perch comes closer to the shore, where it can be caught without using a boat. The bait is placed as close to the bottom as possible, at a depth of about 1 meter. Since the water level in reservoirs is high in spring, flooding of various kinds of bushes is possible, where the striped predator is in ambush. Near such places it is worth throwing bait and moving it along the flooded plants. It can also be found in bays with dense vegetation, where it hunts for fry. At this time, it can be found near cliffs where there is a deep drop. The bait should be cast beyond the drop, after which it is held at the very bottom, touching the bottom in places to further interest the predator.

Summer fishing

With the onset of summer, when the water has warmed up well, the perch gathers in schools of 5-10 individuals and disperses throughout the entire reservoir. Near the shore, as a rule, small specimens make ambushes, but large perch during this period can only be found with a boat. To catch small perches you need to use small spinners and wobblers. To catch larger specimens, larger baits should be used. During this period, the movement of the turntable should be slow, on the verge of stalling the rotation of the petal. Very often the fish is passive, so you can use a drop-shot rig, as well as soft passive baits. This equipment allows the bait to hang in the water column and play under the influence of the current. In addition, such equipment allows you to play with bait in one place for a long time.

Autumn fishing

Somewhere in late August, early September, the period of autumn perch fishing with spinning begins. During this period, the perch begins to bite more actively, which is explained by the onset of cold weather. Large perch move to depth, and smaller ones do not mind basking in the sun. In the fall, the best time to catch perch is on a warm, sunny day with a light southerly breeze. At this time, preference should be given to silicone baits in the form of fish or twisters, with a length of 2.5 to 5 cm. The quality of these baits will be decisive in catching perch. The tails of fish and twisters should play believably at any reeling speed, including minimum ones. In most cases, they use stepped wiring, since they have to fish at depth, in search of larger perch. In areas where smaller perch are located, small wobblers, spinners, spinners or silicone baits are used.

Most Popular Spinning Rigs | Catching Perch with Spinning

I won’t beat around the bush, but will immediately move on to the description of the most popular perch rigs and so let’s begin.

Texas Snap | For Congested Places

This installation is based on a bullet sinker; it’s up to you to choose the size of the bullet; our main task is to make equipment that will have good maneuverability in a snag. It is in such areas that the drop shot is used.

The bullet moves freely along the line; when casting, this gives even greater aerodynamics, due to which the bait flies further.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

I recommend using Twisters as silicone; they are better suited for this installation. And according to the classics, the Offset Hook has no competition.

The wiring is simple, we either move the bait evenly along the bottom, with the Bullet lying on the bottom and the Twister a little higher, or we perform a sharp reeling and give a pause. A very effective rig for fishing on edges and streamers!

I won’t talk about the Carolina Rigging; it differs from the Texas Rigging only in that the bullet is fixed with stoppers, which do not allow much freedom when moving.

Drop Shot | Realistic Game

This equipment uses a sinker of the same name, which is located at the end of the fishing line, a swivel located 10-20 centimeters above the sinker, to which a leash with a hook and silicone bait is attached.

With such equipment, the bait is attached to the head, due to which it gets a realistic game, and we get a large number of bites. This rig should be fished in holes and on a flat table, then the effect will be positive.

Diversion Leash | The Best Option

A retractable leash differs from a Drop-Shot in that here you can use several leashes with bait at once, and in order to prevent the tackle from getting tangled, professionals install several swivels at once, getting a sliding version of the sinker.

The use of two swivels increases the sensitivity and sharpness of the hook. These are the Best Rig Options for Perch, I hope you will become friends with them.

Winter gear for perch

Fishing from ice can be both productive and interesting, especially if the bites follow one after another. For this to happen, you should seriously prepare your gear for winter fishing for perch.

The most famous are:

  1. Tackle with jigs.
  2. Tackle with spinners and balancers.
  3. Perch girders.

A fishing rod, where a jig is used as bait, consists of a fishing rod, to which a reel is attached, on which the fishing line is wound, a whip and a nod, which serves as a bite alarm. With the help of a nod, a certain character of the game of the jig is ensured, without which an active bite will not work.

Mormyshka without nozzle and with nozzle

There are jigs without attachments and with attachments, although they all consist of a jig body and a hook. In fact, it is a classic artificial bait of a certain shape and has the appropriate weight. You should pay attention to some of the jigs that are popular among winter fishing enthusiasts. For example:

  • Mormyshka "Nymph". The length of its body is three times its width. The jig works well at shallow depths and in still water, as it is light in weight.
  • Jig "Bedbug". The width of the body of this jig can be equal to its length or be 2/3 of its length. This is a lightweight type of jig, the crown of which is made of red copper, and the head is black. For greater attractiveness, the bait is equipped with cambrics of various colors. The most attractive colors are considered yellow, in combination with red or white.
  • Flat tungsten jig. Heavy tungsten jigs are usually used in currents or at significant depths. For greater catchability, it is equipped with one movable cambric, yellow.

According to many experienced fishermen, the effectiveness of fishing directly depends on its game. The more interesting the vibrations of the jig in the water column are for the perch, the greater the chances of catching it. In this regard, most of them fish with jigs without attachments, securing it at a certain angle to the fishing line. When using attachments, the jig is attached purely vertically.

Fishing. The best and catchiest jigs

The following can be used as attachments:

  1. Bloodworm.
  2. Mormysh.
  3. Worms.
  4. Grasshoppers, flies, etc.

Fishing with jigs is easy to master and make it effective, if you take into account the characteristics of winter fishing and the nature of the reservoir. In this regard, fishing will always be productive.

To avoid being left without fish you need to:

  • Find out from the fishermen exactly where the perch bites and at what depth.
  • Find out what kind of bait he chooses for his attack.
  • Before you stop biting, it is advisable to count how many fish are caught in one place.
  • When using bait, you should determine how the fish reacts to it and how quickly it moves to the bait.

Which is better: a spinner or a balancer?

Spinning is the use of lures such as a spinner or a balancer. Unlike the summer use of spinners, when they are held horizontally, in winter the spinners are held vertically, which eliminates the possibility of them getting caught on algae or other “surprises” located under the ice.

Due to the fact that fishing is carried out through a punched hole, it is advisable that the spoon does not deviate too far from the center of the hole. The nature of the spoon depends on the nature of the reservoir. If the reservoir is not deep, then light baits are suitable for fishing, and if there is a current, then heavy bait is indispensable.

Each lure can have one or more hooks, which can be either suspended or secured by soldering. In addition, each spoon can contain multi-colored cambrics, although their number should be limited.

A balancer is a type of spoon that resembles a fish in shape, moving up/down, or standing motionless in the water column. It is called a balancer because it is attached to the tackle so that it is in a strictly horizontal position. A hook is attached to the belly of this fish (balancer). As a rule, treble hooks are used as they are more effective.

And again, for the balancer to attract a predator, it must be in motion. There are many options for reviving the balancer so that a predator such as perch is interested in it.

Balancers vary in size and color.

Catching tackle for catching perch in winter - Obeba!

Zherlitsa

Only a small part of fishermen prefer the girder as a tackle that can actively catch perch. The rest, the majority of fishermen, believe that catching perch with girders is a waste of time.

The design of the fishing rod is quite simple and consists of a base with a reel, a hole for fishing line and a flag with a spring as a bite alarm.

The tactics of fishing with girders are associated with constant drilling of holes and moving the gear from hole to hole, in search of bites. Fishing for perch is characterized by the use of thin fishing line. This is due to the fact that weighty specimens are rarely found among perches.

Catching Perch with Spinning: Features | 2 Moments for a Good Bite

In summer, fishing should begin early in the morning, or in the evening an hour before dusk. At these two moments the perch bites very actively. In the morning there is a daytime glutton, and before dusk there is an evening outing; it is short-lived, but effective.

When fishing in the summer, a quick change of bait will be a very effective tactic. For example, if several wobblers of the same type do not bite, we put another one according to the class and again we get bites. This is such a paradox.

Catching perch with a spinning rod

Don’t miss the shallow bays, there is always an abundance of perch there; in the summer, the small ones run aground, followed by the striped robber. When fishing for perch, it is very important to find a good hole or decline in depth; this will help you when fishing with different types of equipment and wiring.

That seems to be all that a Beginner Spinning Player should know.

The best place for perch to accumulate is the dam

When fishing for perch on rivers near dams, first of all make several casts of a spinner or wobbler to the dam itself. Perch loves to hide in rocky foundations that go deep into the water. If the result is unsuccessful, fish in quiet water areas near the dam. Use the same bait or change it to a light fan twister. If fishing takes place in the summer, when finished, cast the bait into the strong current coming from the dam. A plastic fish, a weighted twister, a sinking wobbler or a spinner with a sinker are suitable here.

In the winter, double-tail twisters and scoop-tail jigs work well around the dams. No other bait is capable of developing such activity when retrieved slowly.
