Wobblers Zipbaits Orbit 80 SP-SR

The Zipbaits brand is well known to our spinners. This company specializes in the development and production of hard plastic baits. Some models have become real bestsellers and legends, and therefore are in great demand among fishermen. One of these is the Orbit series, which will be discussed below.

In our realities, the Orbit line of wobblers is used primarily for pike hunting by twitching. The toothy beast is very fond of this bait, which can arouse its appetite and force it to take a greedy bite. Also, medium and large perch become a frequent victim of this model, sometimes it is attacked by asp.

Series features

Each Orbit wobbler is a masterpiece of modern wobbler design. It is made in the best traditions of Zip Baits using all the innovative developments of the company. Therefore, the bait is catchable in all regions, regardless of fishing conditions.

The Orbit wobbler has an elongated, slightly “hunched” body, which is flattened on the sides. At the head of the bait there is a small blade, which determines its slight depth. Inside is the famous patented system from Zipbaits called Mag-Drive with a tungsten weight and magnets, which determines the model's amazing ballistic performance and stable operation on different wiring options.

The quality of Zipbaits Orbit is beyond doubt

The bait is made from high quality plastic. It is characterized by increased strength and resistance to heavy loads that occur when bitten by a predator. The level of performance of the wobbler is not satisfactory and always impresses with its unsurpassed quality.

All wobblers from Zip Bates are equipped with high-quality tees. Predators rarely leave them; not a single bite will go unpunished. The hooks retain their sharpness for a long time, do not become dull or break, and can withstand high dynamic loads.

Wobblers Zipbaits Orbit 80 SP-SR

“Orbit, which pike loves to chew,” is exactly what Alexey Shanin said about this bait. I have my own history with Orbit.

Summer, heat, pike are inactive, the only bite during many hours of fishing is a real gift. And so, on one of these hot summer days, my friend Sashka and I went to the pond of our childhood - a pond with the telling name Koryazhny. We didn’t find anything new there - warm water and inactive pike, in fact, as always. Here Sanyok takes out a box from his backpack, on which the name Orbit 80 SP-SR proudly flaunts. At first I thought it was some kind of joke, because Orbit is associated with chewing gum, but Sashka said that his father gave him the wobbler and it was supposedly just a bomb for a passive pike. I grinned maliciously - I didn’t believe it! But a friend suggested: “I’ll go to the opposite bank now, and we’ll meet in two hours. You catch with the best baits, and I’ll try to catch with Orbit.” After wishing each other good luck, we parted ways. No matter what I try, the result that day is the same - a donut hole. Then Sanyok returns. On his kukan there are four pikes, each weighing one and a half kilograms. To say that I was extremely surprised is to say nothing. Sashka releases the fish, but, as it turned out after surgical intervention, the predators simply would not have been able to escape. Each one swallowed the bait very deeply, damaging its gills on the tees. And this is with zero bite! Orbit wiped the nose of my wobblers, and Sashka wiped mine. Then I firmly decided - I’m buying. And since 2010, the pike “Orbit” has never left the working box. What is good about this bait? Here's what.

Orbit has a distinct minnow body shape with rounded contours in cross-section. This characteristic, coupled with the “proprietary” long-casting system, gives the wobbler fantastic aerodynamic properties. During casting, the tungsten cylinder moves to the tail section. After splashing down the bait, it returns to its original position. Thanks to the long-distance casting system, the wobbler can be cast against the wind, which is very important when fishing in difficult conditions.

Initially, “Orbit” was developed as a bait for largemouth bass, or simply bass, but with us it has undergone successful “acclimatization” and, when presented correctly, literally “mows down” all “toothy” ones, from small to large, and the size of 80 mm is the most universal.

“Orbit” has a bright pattern of play both on a uniform drive and on a jerk. But still, twitching is, in my opinion, the most effective animation method. This wobbler somehow miraculously manages to catch fish that have been pricked and attacked more than once. What is its appeal, you ask?

The secret of success lies in the game, which Orbit is simply excellent. At the moment of the jerk, the bait moves to the side, while playing in the transverse axis. After the pause, the wobbler continues to “tremble”, but not for long. With even pulls, the play pattern is smooth, the wobbler has no unnecessary movements. But if you want to move the bait in a ragged rhythm, then Orbit can do that too.

The wiring style I use reveals the full potential of this wobbler. When you need to catch a pike that has “flyed out” more than once, remember that its every movement entails the loss of precious energy, which is so lacking in the summer heat. In this regard, “Orbit” should be served in the most sluggish, most “dying” way, with very long pauses. More than once I have had bites at the sixth second, when the bait hung motionless in the water column.

My wiring looks like this. We throw it to the place where the pike was previously active and “smeared”. You can even throw it a meter and a half further. Next, we make a full rotation of the reel and bring the wobbler into the intended attack zone. After the bait is in such a place, we pause for five seconds, then give a very small short jerk with the tip of the rod. At this moment, the bait is moved forward with its body and the wobbler trembles slightly. Then again a pause of five to six seconds and one sharp jerk - the bait takes off from its place (it is at this moment that a bite may follow). Then we do two short jerks, and again a pause of five to six seconds. The animation chain is as follows: cast – full rotation – six-second pause – short jerk – six-second pause – sharp jerk – six-second pause – two jerks – pause.

Fishing with a wobbler

Brief overview of models

The Zipbaits Orbit series consists of four models, differing in size, weight and working horizon. Each has its own characteristics and purpose, but is certainly in demand among spinners. Let's consider separately all modifications of the Orbit line.

Orbit 65

Review of Rapala X Rap wobblers

The smallest model in this series. It is 6.5 cm long and is available in two versions - 65SP Slider and 65SP MR-S. The first works in a depth range of up to a meter, the second is intended for fishing in places with depths of up to 2.5 meters. Both versions are neutrally buoyant.

The Zipbaits Orbit 65 wobbler is aimed at hunting perch of various sizes. Many anglers note its effectiveness in the autumn, while in spring and summer on many reservoirs the bait can be “silent”. In addition to the striped robber, it comes across medium-sized pike and asp.

Orbit 80

A model measuring 8 cm, which has proven itself to be a universal minnow-class wobbler, which is suitable for hunting pike of various sizes and medium-sized perch. Orbit 80 is available with neutral buoyancy in two versions, differing in the working horizon. The first is 80SP-SR, works in shallow water up to a meter. The second - 80SP-DR dives up to one and a half meters and is suitable for fishing coastal edges along a strip of aquatic vegetation and other areas with depths of up to 2.5 meters.

Orbit 90

The newest model from the Orbit line, which arrived on the shelves of fishing stores in 2015. Fans of twitching quickly liked the wobbler and became a formidable weapon in the hunt for toothy predators. Available in two versions - 90SP-SR and 90SP-DR, both are suspenders. The shallow-water modification is intended for areas about a meter deep, the deep-water modification is used in areas up to 2.5 meters. The bait allows not only jerky animation, it catches well with a uniform feed and in the “stop&go” style.

Orbit 110

Today, perhaps, the most popular model in the series under consideration. The Zipbaits Orbit 110 SP wobbler is one of the large minnows that have recently gained mass popularity among fans of twitching pike fishing. Allows you to hunt for hefty specimens, often bringing bites of trophy specimens.

110 is one of the best pike baits

The Orbit 110 SP wobbler is available with a neutral degree of buoyancy. There is only one version of this model, which has a working horizon of up to 1.2 meters. Despite the slight depth, the bait is capable of “lifting” pike from a depth of 3–4 meters, so the range of conditions for its use is very wide and varied.

Wobbler Orbit 110 and its Chinese counterpart, Pike Fighters.

As you remember, in one of my recent articles I told you about a non-snagging spoon , which anglers call an “all-terrain vehicle for pike . It passes through strong places very well, but at the same time has good bite performance.

Today I will continue the topic of spinning lures and talk about one of my most catchy wobblers for catching pike .

With this publication I want to begin a series of articles about the most catchy spinning lures, their characteristics, strengths and weaknesses, methods of fishing with them, and of course I’ll tell you about their copies. If you are interested in this topic, then like the article and subscribe to the channel Fisherman's Secrets so as not to miss anything interesting.

So, first on the list of mega-catchy wobblers for pike fishing is the legendary Orbit 110 from Zip Baits . I don’t remember that I had at least one fly-by fishing trip when I caught with this wobbler.

Orbit 110 SP is a suspended wobbler , that is, it has zero buoyancy in water. When I attach a thin wire leash to the wobbler, the wobbler becomes slowly sinking. But this circumstance does not in any way reduce its hunting properties.

The length of the Orbit 110 SP wobbler is 110 millimeters , as its name implies. The wobbler has a magnetic system, so it has no problems with long-distance and accurate casting. The rattling properties are not strong, but it makes a small sound when wiring.

Orbit 110 SP plays attractively even with even wiring. But this is not his strong point. The most effective Orbit wiring is not hasty twitching in short bursts . So this is how I animate it.

After casting and splashing down the wobbler, I drive the wobbler to the working depth with two or three sharp jerks. Then I pass it with short twitches of literally 10 - 20 centimeters . Between jerks I pause for 2-3 seconds.

As a result, the wobbler moves in the water in small leaps with jerks to the sides, and during pauses it slowly sinks to the bottom, seductively swaying its sides. Pike cannot resist such wiring. If she is nearby, then a bite is guaranteed .

The Orbit 110 SP wobbler is a very good and catchy bait, but it has one significant drawback that scares off many anglers. This is a high price . Therefore, a year ago its first Chinese analogue appeared in my box. I took it, so to speak, for testing.

Externally, except for the colors, it was no different from its famous brother, the same dimensions, the same magnetic system, the same seductive wiring, but the price was an order of magnitude lower. On his first fishing trip, he caught several pike .

After such a bright debut, I ordered several more Orbits in different colors, fortunately the price allowed. These were Orbits from Birking . I would like to note right away that everything I said above about the positive properties of the original Orbit 110 SP from Zip Baits is also true for this Orbit.

The coloring is of high quality, it does not drink water, there is no need to glue the loops, the hooks are sharp. Got it here . By the way, there is a discount now .

Wobbler Zipbaits Orbit 110 SP-SR (16.5g) 996R Shining Chart

Wobbler Zipbaits Orbit 110 SP-SR is a series of catchy solid baits made with Japanese elegance and impeccable quality. With an elongated profile, with pronounced features of a roach or bleak, a small blade with a typical angle of inclination - this is a classic minnow. Based on its buoyancy characteristics, it is identified as a suspender. When diving after casting, it freezes at a given depth and requires appropriate animation. Lures of this type demonstrate their maximum capabilities on a jerk retrieve.

Wobbler Zipbaits Orbit 110 SP-SR (12.5g) 713R

To achieve the required casting distance, the Zipbaits Orbit 110 SP-SR wobbler is equipped with an original loading system. This is a magnetic balancer, which is equipped with a guide rod with a movable cylindrical weight made of magnetized tungsten. When thrown, the cylinder goes along the guide to the tail, which ensures flight range and good accuracy of placement at the dive site. After splashdown, the weight moves to the head and is fixed on the magnetic plate, allowing the bait to take the desired position with a slight inclination to the bottom. Due to such a technologically advanced loading, the bait holds its given position well and reacts smoothly to animation from the blank.

The Zipbaits Orbit 110 SP-SR wobbler has a durable body that can withstand sharp pike teeth without loss of integrity. The relief surface in combination with the coloring in detail imitates the body of the prototype. In the natural version of the color, carefully drawn scales, gills and pronounced eyes create the illusion of a living fish. The preservation of color is protected by a high-quality coating, which reduces the destructive effect of abrasion and surface scratches.

The durable frame of the Zipbaits Orbit 110 SP-SR wobbler comes out with reliable winding rings. Above the shoulder blade there is a ring for fishing line, a pair for tees on the belly and one in the tail. The wobbler is made in several modifications of color design to suit different conditions of use. A large selection of realistic natural colors will ensure the effectiveness of the bait during daytime fishing. Bright, poisonous colors will attract the attention of prey in the dark or in turbid water. With the right animation scheme combined with a design that matches the conditions, the decoy will definitely “wake up” the predator and force it to attack.

Wobbler Zipbaits Orbit 110 SP-SR (12.5g) 018R

The Zipbaits Orbit 110 SP-SR wobbler was created as an effective tool for catching largemouth bass (bass). For us it has become a “pike wobbler”. But its working properties allow you to go beyond toothy ones. It will do an excellent job with perch, asp, and catfish. Among its victims may be a bream that gets lost in shallow water. The presence of such bait in the collection will help to significantly increase the catch, make it more diverse, and the process itself more exciting.

Reviews from fishermen

The Zipbaits Orbit series has been in production for quite some time. During this time, it has become a legendary bait and is included in all ratings and top wobblers that are compiled on the Internet. It is difficult to count the positive reviews left by anglers about this model. Here are just a few of them:

Valentin: “I use the 110th Orbit in shallow areas of reservoirs and in oxbow lakes of rivers. It is one of the best baits in my box and regularly brings in bites from hungry pike.”

Seryoga: “I like to catch perch with small minnows. The Orbit 65 is my favorite bait. It catches medium-sized perch perfectly, weeding out small fish. Allows different options for jerk animation.”

Sanyok: “The Orbit 110 SP 830R bait is a pike killer on our shallow endless lakes. It is good at attracting passive fish and works against active predators.”

Dima: “Model 90 SP-DR catches excellently on a short, hard twitch. Suitable for fishing sharp edges, fishing along strips of algae.”

Konstantin: “I caught an 80 on the second cast with a pike weighing about a kilogram. Today my best and most versatile bait for twitching in shallow water.”

Popular copies

The popularity of a wobbler is always indicated by the number of replicas on it. Many manufacturers are trying to clone the Orbit series. Some people produce completely working baits, while others produce absolutely non-working “logs” that only superficially imitate the original. The most famous Orbit copies from Zipbates are:

  • Grows Culture Orbit.
  • Kosadaka Mascot.
  • Strike Pro Inquisitor.
  • TsuYoki Watson.

Let's take a closer look at each of them.

Grows Culture Orbit

The manufacturer is a Chinese company specializing in the production of budget gear. The body shape and magnetic system are completely copied from the original, which makes the Grows Culture Orbit 110 SP a good alternative to a wobbler from Zipbaits at an affordable price. It can be recommended to beginners and as an addition to the original Orbit.

Kosadaka Mascot

Quite realistic in appearance it imitates the original, but has its own loading system. There is no magnet in it, so the tungsten ball moves freely in the cavity, creating a noise effect when wiring. The Kosadaka Mascot comes in a floating design, complementing the Zipbaits Orbit, which is neutrally buoyant.

TsuYoki Watson

Another successful Orbit clone that is worth paying attention to. It has its own loading system, consisting of two tungsten balls and a magnet. Thanks to it, the bait flies far and accurately, no worse than the original, and has a different game. Overall, TsuYoki Watson is a good option at an affordable price.

Strike Pro Inquisitor

Perhaps the most popular and catchy replica is the Zipbaits Orbit. Produced since 2015. In a couple of years, the bait managed to win the hearts of even experienced and professional spinning anglers. It differs from the original in its loading system, which is presented in the form of two tungsten balls. The first one rolls freely in the cavity, the second one is fixed stationary. Available in size 110 mm. Perfectly complements Orbit 110.

The Zipbaits Orbit series of hard plastic lures has become a real bestseller on our waters. It is one of the ten best twitching wobblers aimed at catching pike. Any model from this line can be safely recommended to novice anglers, since it will not let you down and will always allow you to catch fish, regardless of the situation on the pond.
